I love Mizu, I have been ordering their food and every time it's fresh and tasty. Great value for the price, their wasabi is very good too.

A little hide away tucked in the back of a strip mall. Do not over look this place if your looking for good sushi. They serve lunch boxes if you would like a little Japanese with your lunch.Inwas there at lunch time and started with my usual miso soup and seaweed salad. Miso soup is usually kind of bland but theirs had some flavor. It was almost alittle salty whick I found great. The seaweed salad came.on top of lettuce used as a plate filler under the seaweed. Very refreshing. I followed that up with the sashimi lunch. 9 piece's of a mixed dish...3 tuna,3-salmon and 3- white fish. Very fresh and refreshing. I couldn't leave without trying a few sushi rolls. First was the marble roll. My new favorite. Comes with spicy tuna, salmon and yellow fin.ade crunchy with marble seaweed wrap. Fist time I've ever seen this. Incredible taste and texture. I then needed, wanted more so I ordered the Naruto roll. This had tuna, Salmon and Kani or imitation crap wrapped with cucumber and no rice. Wow,talk about refreshing. You do need to like cucumber with this one. Great taste. Had to eat it with my fingers. Hard to keep it together with out glue...I didn't care,I loved it. When in the area of Bayport long island, pit this place in your gps and come visit. Also specialize on take out..might have received 5 stars if it wasn't for the seating arrangement..But still enjoy.

I'm so sad to have to update this review. I thought this would be my new go to sushi place (see TOA ASIAN FUSION; that's my new go to) however after having one good experience here, I ordered a second time for pick up. I made some edits in the notes as they didn't have a salmon avocado roll listed for the lunch special so I picked a salmon cucumber roll and wrote no cucumber sub avocado. I picked up my rolls to find that I was charged $3 and avocado was added to all rolls. Spicy tuna & avocado? I wasn't thrilled :( in any case I was craving sushi so I figured I could make it work. Once I got home and started eating I pulled 3 pieces of plastic out of 3 different rolls. I was so disgusted I couldn't even finish. The rolls didn't taste fresh either and had a very fishy flavor. I won't be ordering from here again :(

    Nigiri to go please

I'm a tuna fan so naturally I get anything tuna related -- the volcano and voctorian rolls were hands down my favorite part of the meal and will be what I order every time moving forward. The ambiance of the place is small and quaint which gives an authentic and cozy feel. It's almost like walking into a sushi speakeasy (much nicer than what the exterior of the building complex might suggest). The chefs always send over a free shareable plate for groups which is kind, and service is always quick. To top things off, the red bean tempura ice cream is my go to and a special treat every time I come -- don't knock it til you try it! So yummy. I've been coming here for years having grown up right across the street from it, and it is a staple answer of "where should we eat?" On a regular basis. Definitely worth checking out!

Dark paneled, highly polished wood and Asian accent prices blend with low lighting, neon and the ambient pulsing of low-key club music. Our waiter was... stoic. Huggy feely was not on the menu apparently. But that was fine. He was prompt and attentive and that's all we really want when we head out. Fairly extensive menu with a lot of sushi-house standards as well as their own specialty rolls (which, I guess, is a pretty standard thing to do as well). We got the ceviche for an app which was very small and pretty basic. Also got the Crunchy Crunchy Crunchy which was more interesting. Soft, spicy tuna provided a nice counterbalance to the fried seaweed. Oyster Bay roll featured a thin slice of jalapeño on top of each piece with a dollop of spicy Mayo. Not really hot (then again, I tend to like napalm on my wings) but had a pleasant and persistent kick. We have ordered takeout as well. Their Thai options seem to be fairly done. They should get an award for the most over-the-top take out bags. Overall, a nice night out. Happy with the service, ambiance and, most importantly, the food. We'll be back!

Our family descended on Izumi this past Saturday night taking my mom out for an early Mother's Day…read moredinner. I'd seen the reviews about gruff servers on here before but shrugged it off as many times people exaggerate and the proximity to mom's home made it a convenient spot to go, plus my kids love hibachi so why not give it a shot. Called a week ahead and made a 4pm reservation, no issues there. Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating and we got stuck in traffic during the downpour, causing us to arrive at about 4:15. The front desk was empty and we waited about 5 minutes before anyone came to check us in, then another 5 or so before we were told our table was ready - not a big deal on our end, but the hostess felt compelled to shame me in front of everyone. With my family standing around and other guests in earshot as we're told the table is ready I get "Next time you need to be on time, we held seats for you!". At this point I seriously considered just walking out, especially when I saw the number of empty tables there were in the hibachi area when we were seated but decided to roll with it for the family's sake. To make matters worse we weren't even seated, just trying to corral a 2 year old into his booster seat and the waitress is wanting drink orders, not even asking if we're ready just what do you want to drink. This was far from a pleasant way to begin the meal. Thankfully once this debacle was over and done with the rest was smooth sailing. To be fair our chef was fantastic with the kids, very engaging and threw them some little toys while he worked to keep them going. And the food turned out to be quite good as well so it wasn't a complete failure thankfully. All in all a good meal but points off for the horrid customer service up front. Things happen, people run late sometimes especially in bad weather - no need for the public shaming especially when half the dining room is empty. Probably more like 3.5 stars in light of that but I'll round up here since the family wound up enjoying in the end.

The decor was beautiful; I really liked the consistent use of their logo, proudly illuminated at all the tables, which gave the space a sophisticated appearance. Even the menus were nicely done. I found myself gazing at the pictures instead of picking out my meal. To start we ordered the Japanese Clear Soup and the King's Treasure Roll. Both starters were delicious. The soup was served hot, lightly seasoned, and it really felt like comfort in a bowl. The treasure roll was good; we just had a hard time trying to pick it up with the chopsticks, as it was very slippery. With a little patience, we managed to get it. For beverages, we went with the Blueberry Lemonade and Virgin Mojito. Although both were decent, they were a little underwhelming and could've used more flavor. Next time, I might just order the Pineapple or Mango Virgin Mojito to see if it's any better. Our Entrees were great. My husband ordered the Spicy Crabmeat Crusted Filet Mignon, and he demolished it. I chose to go with two specialty rolls, The American Dream Roll and Rock N Roll, both fantastic. For dessert, we chose the Matcha Cheesecake and the 3 Flavor Tempura Ice Cream (vanilla, chocolate, and green tea). The cheesecake itself didn't have a strong Matcha taste, but that matcha ice cream was all the way IT! I could've had a bowl of that and been very satisfied. Really, their ice cream game is solid, so good! Lastly, our server Nicole was the cherry on top. She was so welcoming and attentive, offering suggestions, and providing descriptions of the menu items, she never made us feel bad for asking "What's That". All in all, we had an awesome experience at Takumi and look forward to visiting again.
