This TINY mom & pop sushi shop is located in downtown Portland. There is limited outdoor seating only, but I noticed most people get their order to go. A sweet elderly Japanese couple runs the whole show, so please be patient and kind! While there's a bit of a wait during the lunch rush, if you've got the time it's worth the wait. Each roll is handmade by the wife, and the husband helps support her behind the counter. The fish and rice are high quality and I was impressed with how fresh everything was. The prices were also very reasonable (~$11-14 per roll). As a salmon lover I opted for the Mizu Sushi and Lion Roll. The size of the salmon pieces were generous and so buttery. The cucumber and scallion provided the perfect refreshing crunch to balance out the fish. I'll be back Mizu!

We ordered 3 rolls for ~$25 total which is very affordable. The fish quality is pretty good for the price. I would say the only con is their limited and sometimes uncertain hours.

This place was so cute! I came on a break on my first day of jury duty. It's very small, with room for only maybe 3-4 people to sit. There's a short L counter and one table. But the sushi I had was good! I've been doing Japanese on Duolingo but couldn't really speak anything yet. I've been learning some hirigana and was excited to share my post with the hirigana for sushi: すし I had an Oregon roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a cucumber salad. It was a little too much food for one person but I find every sushi place is a little different. Sometimes the roll will be 4 pieces, 6 pieces, 8 pieces, or be tiny little pieces. The cucumber salad has sesame seeds and sushi vinegar and my cucumber was very crunchy and ripe that day! I would go back if I was in the area!

This hidden gem is a whole in the wall. It's right next to my work and easy when I need quick food. It's counter service and there isn't really too much seating but you can take your roll to the park on the next block to enjoy. The only reason why I give this place 4 stars in because I don't eat fish so I never feel like I'm a good judge of any sushi spot but I do believe it will be worth your time!

Small sushi spot close by the waterfront. Stopped by for takeout and took about 15 mins or so for order to be ready, which wasn't bad at all. The restaurant itself is very small and I would not recommend dining in - just order to-go. The only thing knocking off a star is that, when I asked if they had tamago on their menu (or could prepare it), the lady looked at me like a chicken with its head cut off. Every sushi place I had been to previously had it on their menu and I didn't think it was too obscure of a question, but I guess I was wrong. Oh, well. The sushi itself was very good quality and I enjoyed it a lot. I'll definitely be back!

For me, hole in the wall spots are usually reserved for taco places across town with the occasional comfort food and little mom and pop place outside of town. I will say, a hole in the wall sushi spot is a new one on me, but what a welcome find. Now, to be fair, I have been here a few times, but just to pick up food since I do food delivery part time. I'd never eaten here before but the sushi always looked great. I also liked that it was one person doing everything. The space itself is probably smaller than the coat closet at the Ringside Steakhouse, so... cozy. There is a small amount of counter seating and during the warmer months there are some tables outside. But one woman is running the show and what I had was simply tasty and very inexpensive. Now from other reviews, a daughter helps out from time to time and on my visit, there was a man that was assisting but she takes care of all the sushi. To start off, there are two combo options that are both cheap and filling for a light lunch. I went with option one for $10.95 which had a crunchy roll with tuna, a spicy tuna roll and two pieces of nigiri (salmon and snapper). Everything was prepared well and so fresh. The wasabi had some kick to it. I also had to get some unagi nigiri (mine and my daughter's favorite) and some yellowtail nigiri that had a real depth of flavor. I actually enjoyed the taste of that the best. The are plenty of other rolls to try plus some hot options. They are limited on the fish choices, but what you get is great. I highly recommend stopping by here and I do plan on coming back many more times. Support local. Enjoy.

The intimate 3-seat counter in this tiny restaurant allows for you to really engage with the sushi chef; this woman not only made me the best California & spicy tuna roll but she educated me on the actual current temperature in my home of Los Angeles, CA. Misu has a very authentic feel, the fish is fresh & chilled well & the miso soup is hot. We really enjoyed our time & food here but it was also the first time I finished my food before my boyfriend finished his & he won't stop carrying weights around the house & telling me how strong he is since we got home from Misu

Amazing sushi. Would highly recommend! Had time to quickly grab something while here on a work trip. Did not disappoint.

Rainbow Roll Special with salmon inside with California roll $11.99!

A little hole in the wall that has great customer service and great sushi at a great price!!! I am so glad we stumbled upon this place. I highly recommend this eatery to any one passing through, visiting, or lives in Portland who loves eating sushi. I usually order the Rainbow Roll and saw a Rainbow Roll Special on their menu. With this menu item you can choose any assorted fish on top and any assorted fish inside with California Roll (avocado, cucumber, imitation crab) for only $11.99! I would not come here with a large group. They only have about four chairs and the place is very small. I would go with a friend or order to go.

The onigiri is art. And the service is always polite and professional. Always. I was physically at the restaurant the night these one star people were there. From what I could tell sitting at the bar and observing the ID in question, it looked fliiiimssy even from where I was sitting. I kinda get both sides ya know , sure one person in the group wants a drink w dinner but dude just tough it out and have your dinner. Instead they popped off and all started fussing and being entitled and it was just gross. I was enjoying a fantastic dinner but that table was like trying to take the stage. I think they ended up storming out and one girl like stomped off and said she was keeping her cup !! lol I worked in food a long time ago. And I've worked in cannabis under the watchful eye of the olcc so I'm on the servers side. Don't take chances and don't listen to these kids scramble for a secondary ID. Sketch. Go to obon. Get the Sando. Enjoy.

This was one of the most humiliating dining experiences I have ever had…read more We chose this spot for a friend's final night in Portland. She had recommended it, was excited to share it with us. There was no single incident that explains what happened. Instead, it was a series of interactions that became increasingly dismissive, hostile, and ultimately humiliating. The first moment that gave us pause came when my friend's ID was returned so carelessly that it landed on the floor. The server then walked away without explanation, only to return and inform us she would not be serving us drinks. Being denied a drink was never the issue, though the manner in which it was handled felt abrupt and unwarranted. When we attempted to understand the concern, there was no effort to communicate, clarify, or review the additional identification we had available, including a passport. Instead, the interaction became increasingly adversarial. We were told we could cause the restaurant to lose its liquor license and were ultimately instructed to leave. At that point, it no longer felt like a conversation about identification. It felt like a complete breakdown in professionalism and basic respect. Before leaving, my friend calmly asked to speak with someone in charge. She was visibly upset, holding back tears, but remained composed throughout the interaction. Rather than attempting to understand or de-escalate the situation, another staff member escalated it further, becoming confrontational and referring to her as a "bish." I have worked in food service and understand that mistakes happen. Portland has no shortage of exceptional restaurants. I would spend my time and money elsewhere. 0/5

I was looking for food nearby and came across this restaurant. The food was surprisingly delicious! We ordered the chicken katsu curry, kama-age udon (hokkai miso soup), and the kama-meshi seafood. The chicken katsu was cooked perfectly: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! The sauce also was the perfect texture and taste. My favorite was the kama-age udon with the hokkai miso soup. I love udon but sometimes don't like how thick it is because it fills you up faster and is harder to digest, the udon here is thinner which I fell in love with! It's soft and chewy and the perfect thickness: you dip it on the soup when you eat it. I also loved the soup, I usually have leftover soup when eat noodles, but I finished every last sip! Definitely recommend this dish if you were to only order one item! We also ordered the kama-meshi seafood. I thought this one tasted okay! The flavors of the seafood come through, but I personally like stronger and heavier flavors. It was worth a try! Parking: This restaurant is in downtown portland so it was difficult to find parking. We ended up parking at a nearby garage and paid for parking. They do have a few street parking spots near the restaurant if you want to test your luck! Seating and service: We were seated really quickly as we went on a weekday! They have several tables and a large table that can be reserved as well as bar spots. The restaurant overall looks really nice and is pretty spacious. The servers were really nice and fast to get you what you need! A side note: they have heated toilet seats in their restroom so that's always a plus!

The service was wonderful--the staff were mostly Japanese and very kind--and the portions for the dinner sets were generous for the price. However, the quality of the sushi felt like a standard neighborhood spot. The fish appeared to be pre-cut and frozen rather than freshly broken down in the kitchen. The biggest disappointment was the Hokkaido Uni. At $40 for two pieces ($20 each), I expected top-notch quality, but it sadly lacked freshness. The tempura was ordinary as well, though the complimentary amuse-bouche (tofu, broccoli, and asparagus) was surprisingly delicious.
