The atmosphere of the salon is very nice and modern! The service was okay, I just came in for a pedicure and wish I had more information of what was going on. I have a blue toenail and was hoping to get my pedis done to hide the blue toenail. I did ask if my artist can add more coating to cover my blue toenail but she said no without even trying T_T Toes are cute though minus my blue toe. Also felt like the aftercare of completing your set could have been better, like do I sit in the chair are we completely done? Should I check out now? I was just left there on the chair like an awkward fish :'( read more

This was my first time there because the i needed something immediately. 1. sufficient staff to support weekend traffic it seems like - i counted around 18. 2. Place was clean but and spacious. Other than that, everything else is similar to other salons. The technicians that worked on my nail didn't stand out where I would be incline to return. read more

Same day appointment was made fast and easy. As soon as I stepped in they were really fast to assist and really nice. I got my nails done here a couple times now. I usually like to go try out new places and find the one for me the long term. I think MJ Nail has made it to my list and one of my go to salons when I need a new set of nails. Vibe in the store is very clean and spacious as well. Welcoming environment. Definitely will recommend and return! read more

This is my only go to nail place now! They do exceptional work and I've had so many beautiful sets of nails. This review is overdue haha. Everyone always asks me where I get them done and I get so many compliments. I get my manicure, pedicure, now even lashes done here. It's really a one-stop shop. I usually like this place cause it seems like they know how to do pedicures and waxing and eyelashes but when it comes to full sets, they do not do a good job. I had to go there like twice and I just got them done like a week or two days ago, I would not come back here again I'm sorry. And plus you can tell that they're talking crap about you very rude. Even complete to the manager and she still hasn't said anything to me that Customer Service! Please don't come here if you're trying to do gel X sets!! read more

If you don't have too much time and want a flash quick regular pedicure this is the place for you. You'll be In and out in 15-20min. They definitely rush to finish. They are careless with the nail and cuticle cleaning, 3 second scrub and pat massage and the uneven and patchy varnish application. I can't speak for the other type of gel application or services. But I was not happy with the pedicure I got. I'm a believer of second chances, so will try them once more with a different person and hope for the best and will update my review as needed. Limited regular nail polish colors. No book to choose from, just a little cart with various limited OPI brand nail polish colors. read more

Came in on random day and time just because I've been wanting to get my nails done after a year of neglect...especially for my feet. I'm not picky, but when they did my nails...I left noticing that they were not even at all. One side of my hand was shorter and more pointy than the other side. The ladies worked very quickly and finished both mani and pedi within 25 minutes...30 max. Good thing about this spot is that is close by the market, starbucks, and where I needed to be later. Place is quiet and the atmosphere is pretty calm. What I wished was for the ladies to not have to rush...the work was meh. Overall paid $65. $35 gel pedi and 30 for gel mani. Next is for my son. I brought him immediately after mine was done to get his toe and fingernails cut and cleaned. This is our first...his first time doing any of this! Reason... I'm terrible at cutting his toes and believe I've messed them up. I needed him to get it fixed. His service cost $45! Just for his nails to get cut and cleaned...ONLY! I almost died. Thought it would be like 15 bucks...but they charged as if they put on nail polish and crap. Total...$110 read more

I haven't had a bad experience here, every nail tech has been through and fast. I'm done with my service in 30-40 mins. My nails needed a refresh, it's been 3 weeks.. one of my nail is cracking. They add extension on the one finger for $5. Total for removal, clean, add gel builder coat and cat eyes style polish is $50. This time Helena assisted me. I look around cause I'm nosy and I see what other girls are getting done for my future inspo and their nails turned out so cute, it gives me an idea of what I would want next. The place could be cleaner but other than that you can beat the price and how fast they do your nails. read more

I've been coming here consistently for almost 2 years now and I've always had a really good experience! Everyone who works here is so nice and accommodating, and they always make sure my nails turn out how I want them. I've tried a lot of different designs and they've always done a great job. Been coming here for a while, and since it's usually busy I just request for whichever nail tech is available first. However, I think I found my new fav nail lady here. Lynn is the best here and at the same time super sweet. I feel like she doesn't go crazy on filing my nails and actually care about my nail health. I'm very particular about nail shape and she always get the shape right. She truly listens to what I want and I always leave as a happy camper. I usually don't leave bad comments but I didn't like the fact that I went in and asked for gel removal because I wanted to let my nails rest, and I was told that they didn't have any availability until the next day. Just out of curiosity I walked out and called in pretending to schedule an appointment to get gel nails and they said they could give me an appointment in 30 minutes from the time of my call. I won't be coming back here or recommending this place, that's not how you do business and retain good costumers. read more

Came to MJ nail salon and I was very impressed with the results! My friend and I got gel pedicures and the service here is SO FAST. Usually when I go to the nail salon it takes at least an hour and when I came to MJ they took less than an hour on my pedicure. They offer regular polish gel polish, and even Japanese gel here. I opted for the gel polish pedicure and was so happy with my toes! As someone who does my own nails at home, it was so nice getting them done for once :-) I highly recommend MJ Nail Salon. read more

Decided to give MJ a try because my last few visits from my original salon, my gel kept lifting and I was not happy it was not lasting. I called a few days in advance to schedule an appointment and it was quick and easy. Parking was seamless at 11am on a Saturday. It was different when I came out though as I did noticed a lot of people were driving around looking for parking. Scheduled for a gel mani and pedi. Mao mao and a male gentleman helped me during my appointment. Maomao did my manicure and the male did my pedicure. Got to say this was the FASTEST nail appointment Ive ever experience with 33mins and I waited maybe 5-6min in the lobby. They were both friendly and thorough. Very minimal conversation. My gel was not uneven, blotchy, nails are shaped nicely and how fast they finished, i was afraid it wasnt going to look good but it came out nice. Also due to it being my first time, I was afraid of going with a design and paying for something I wouldnt like so I picked a solid color but will most likely come back and try designs. Overall, paid $80 for mani and pedi without tip. They accept credit card, venmo and cash payment. No fees for credit card payment and everything was quick and seamless. They card terminal doesnt automatically have the tip calculator so you apply the tip on the receipt. I think the only thing that I didnt enjoyed from my visit was that the store had their doors open so it was really noisy, there was flies flying around which i saw was also bothering some other customers and they had their tvs on but didnt have anything playing so they couldve had some better ambiance for their customers. Otherwise, they were extremely busy and people were coming and going fast. read more

I came here for the first time on Friday evening. I wanted to give them a try since their reviews were good. I asked for a fill (acrylic) and they told me they don't de acrylic, which is crazy. Maybe she just didn't want to do it. But she told me she'd do the clear coat that they use for Gel X. She put the coat on and then immediately started painting my nails. She didn't file them, even them out, buffer them, nothing. It felt so rushed. They look so bad, so bumpy and nails going in different directions. I paid $60 dollars for this. My toddler has been asking to do "pretty nails" so I decided to take her this morning. I called around and came across MJ Nail Island and they said they had an opening for a walk in. It was her first time so she was a little shy at first. The nail tech that helped her was very friendly and made her feel really comfortable. Service is not the best when you ask for a basic mani or pedi. Had a mani done. Nails were not cleaned (just filed, buffed, cuticle oil and a few seconds hand massage) Had a basic pedi done with two different people. The male did not do a massage and rushed the pedi, but the female did do a massage and took her time. You don't get the same service. read more

I've gone to MJ Nail Island intermittently since they've opened. I was always satisfied with the quality of my manicures (including regular polish/gel, Japanese gel, and Gel X) and pedicures. I didn't have a preferred technician until recently. Ella did a wonderful job capturing designs from the inspo pics that I showed her. The prices were super reasonable ($50-$65) including hard gel, designs, and cat eye polish. Each manicure lasts me about 4 weeks because my nails grow pretty quickly. read more

I moved to the Alhambra area in May 2025 and started coming to this nail salon after a colleague recommended it. Before that, I had been seeing the same nail tech for five years, but she's unfortunately too far for me now so coming here was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone. If you're looking for a quality pedicure experience, I would not recommend this salon. Unfortunately, this was the worst pedicure I have ever received. One of my main concerns was that the tools were not removed from a sealed, sanitized bag, which immediately raised questions about cleanliness and sanitation practices. Additionally, the service felt extremely rushed from start to finish, with very little attention given to proper nail care. My nails were simply trimmed and briefly filed, with minimal cleaning performed. The sequence of the service was also unusual. After being seated, my feet soaked for no more than two minutes before my nails were cut and filed with an electric file. Toe separators were then placed, and my feet were wrapped for the additional $10 callus removal treatment. I eventually had to request that my nails be properly shaped and cleaned underneath, as this had not been done. I was told that filing would be completed at the end of the pedicure. However, after my gel polish was applied, the technician removed the callus treatment and instructed me to place my feet back into the water to rinse them off. As a result, my freshly polished nails no longer looked fresh or professionally finished. Having to soak my feet after the polish was applied seemed counterproductive and left me disappointed with the final result. Overall, the experience felt rushed, lacked attention to detail, and did not meet the standards I expect from a professional pedicure service. If you're looking for a relaxing pedicure that leaves you feeling pampered and satisfied, this place is not for you. read more

It's my first time here. I wouldn't say it's bad but it's not what I wanted. The receptionist/perhaps store owner gave me a discount (-$10 off) because I didn't like it. I appreciated her kind gesture. The total cost for these nails was $95. I still tipped $10 to my nail technician because I know how hard it is to work in a busy environment appointment after another. I wished she took more consideration and time working on my nails. The flowers were messy and she added purple flowers to cover up the other purple streaks on the other nails to make it intentional. If you look at my left hand's thumb, you'll understand what I mean. She has potential but rushing with the nails made the experience less enjoyable. read more

I made a next day appointment at 10am and Momo and Linh did my nails. They were so nice, quick and professional. Momo did my gel manicure and she is so clean, organized and my nails came out perfectly. I did a gel overlay and my nails are not bulky at all. What was really impressive was that I was finished in an hour! Parking can be a challenge. Although there's a huge lot, there are plenty of popular restaurants so it might be best to park a bit further away. read more

I should have read the reviews more carefully before coming so that is definitely my fault...I will start with adding this is my first negative review I felt compelled to share. My karma for cheating on my nail tech I've gone to for years, but she was out of town this weekend. Mani was the worst one I've ever had. I requested a nail design and my tech said she could, so I went in thinking cool I can share my inspo idea and I had a picture. I kept trying to simplify my mani choice because my nail tech gave me the impression I was not making sense and there was a lot of telling me the colors I was asking for were not the colors in the picture or me sharing specifics, and them saying back something entirely different. I kept pausing after hearing the tech say something I didn't say, hoping seconds of just trying to understand would make it clearer for me to understand or figure out how to be clearer lol. Ultimately, they just wanted to get the mani over with and rushed so fast. Did one hand fine and the other not what I said. I should have stopped it there but I honestly was so tired of over explaining, I also hate complaining in a customer service setting so I just kind of prioritized wanting it to be over as well. When I went to pay, another tech was sitting behind the register and I mentioned that one hand was not what I wanted and they just went "mmm...that'll be $135" at the end of the day, I always want to pay someone for a service they provided so I just paid to get out of there. Pedi was fine. Definitely baseline expectation you can find at any salon. Take my advice and go elsewhere if you want to leave with what you asked for! read more

It's a safe neighborhood so I wasn't worried about my car. Walking inside, it's one huge room with multiple lashing stations divided by a curtain. It was empty when I was there, just me and the girl who gave me my lash lift and tint. I didn't catch her name, but she was so sweet!! She gave me a run down of the various lashes they offered, I told her that I would eventually come back to get my lashes done and she had great recommendations for what I was interested in. My favorite thing about this place was the lashing bed! It was cushioned with a foam mattress pad, it put me straight to sleep! The process of getting the lash lift and tint went so smooth. I didn't feel any burning, the tech had the softest touch, and I felt really comfortable. I highly recommend trying our Lash Glow if you're interested in getting your lashes done! I did my homework, read all the reviews and saw that Catherine is basically the MVP. Booked. No hesitation. Day of - super smooth start. I filled out the waiver ahead of time, showed up as the first client, and Catherine was right on time and incredibly welcoming. By the way, check in on their tablet when you arrive so you can rack up 10 visits for $10 off (we love a loyalty moment). She walked me through all the lash options and even showed me the lengths before we started, which I appreciated because I'm picky but also indecisive. The setup is a communal space with curtain-separated stations, and honestly? Cozy vibes. The bed was comfy, there were blankets available (yes please), and everything felt clean and professional. I saw Catherine sanitize her hands before getting started, which immediately put me at ease. Now the real test: the glue. I insisted on the super sensitive (blue) glue, and you guys... I had the *slightest* burning in one eye for a moment, but once she used the fan, it completely went away. No tears, no redness, no regret. The whole appointment took under an hour, which felt like a miracle. I walked out looking SNATCHED and more importantly, feeling totally fine. No pain. No irritation. Just vibes and lashes. The glue is also super clumpy that sometimes I'd get eye irritation. Now my natural lashes are short and have holes from the extension glue ripping them out. The service is always super quick which is nice, but sometimes a fill only takes 15 minutes and half of the lashes would be gone by the 10 day mark. This shows that quality is compromised because of the fast service. When I first came to Ms Kawaii, my lashes would stay full for 4-5 weeks. Now my lashes are almost gone in 10 days. There's also an old lady that works there that was super rude! I wanted a particular style but she pushed for a different style. When I said I didn't want it, she did not seem happy and proceed to do a horrible job! I texted the manager and they gave me a partial refund but I have to pay for removal. Unsure how I feel about this resolution, especially since I always pay $90+ each time I come (before tip!!) Definitely don't come here if you care about your lash health. I've been going to MJ Nail Island and it has quickly become one of my favorite nail salons in the area. They are always so welcoming, professional, and consistently have availability, which makes booking appointments super convenient. The salon is very clean, they play Kpop videos, very organized, and has a relaxing atmosphere that makes every visit enjoyable. Their prices are great for the quality of work they provide, and you can tell they truly care about their clients. Here's a break down of the timeline since it's important, and I told Moon when I booked my appointment that I had work at 3PM and needed to leave before then. 1PM - my appointment 3PM - work began for me and I needed to leave by then During my manicure, Moon was getting frustrated because she couldn't do it. When I noticed that she was attempting to give me a classic french tip instead of an ombre, I flat out asked her if she knew how to do it. That's when she admitted that she doesn't know how. At this point, I had been at the salon for an hour and I told her that I would be fine with a classic french tip if it was easier for her. Guys. SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO DO DIP POWDER!!! I don't know why she even offers it as a service. My manicure came out lumpy and the tips were awful, they weren't clean. When I inspected them, she sheepishly asked, "they look bad, huh?" GIRL, YES! At that point, it was 2:40PM. So I said, "Moon, you're aware I have work in 20 minutes. Where can we go from here?" She said she's better at gel and she could do that for me instead, so we proceeded. Even with gel, the manicure didn't look really good because she tacked on the gel on top of the powder she put on. I have natural nails so she put SO MUCH product on my actual nails that the products began to chip two days later and my actual nails started to break. At the end of my manicure, Moon charged me $50. She didn't offer a discount for wasting two hours of my life for the worst manicure I've ever had. On top of that, after I paid, she said "see you next week!" I asked her what she meant because I did NOT give her any indication that I wanted to return. She replied "so I could fix your nails." Umm, excuse me?? Why would I EVER return to your awful salon for your terrible skills??? Plus, she had charged me full price -- did that mean she'd do the same if I were to have returned for her to try to salvage what she wrecked? I just told her that I wouldn't return. It seemed very arrogant of her to assume I would trust her again. I knew limited Mandarin and spoke with what I could that she gave her boss a heads up that I was able to understand them if they were to talk behind my back. She mentioned that they can put a flower sticker on my nails for a smaller fee than the designs I was originally thinking about getting and the boss kinda handled my nails roughly.. When payment came around and I showed them my screenshot of the Groupon deal I would've got if I purchased it online, the boss mentioned that it would be the price if I bought it online, but not the price the store accommodates..? I was kinda annoyed by this, because all of the stores that I've been to for Groupon always matches the discounted Groupon price, but they did not here. I paid it anyway considering it as a tip for the boss and also tipped the nail tech that helped me out since she massaged my feet and hands that was nice.
