Visiting to Atlanta and after it being recommended by a local girl and the understanding that I can't really go to any other place since I didn't have different shoes than sneakers, I've decided to give this place a go. I must say I was quiet disappointed (I'm a 33 white if that helps). There was one staff member, a small guy with a beard that think he is a god because they let him do some management tasks or something, I find him rude and pathetic. The guys at the bar always were always busy with doing anything but serving customers. The bar tender girls were talking to each other all time and you could stand there for 10 minutes without them giving you any attention. I came at around 1.30am, 2 floors were active, the main one was almost empty and the other one a small crowded room with music that you'd normally not play in a night club. The people at the club were not of my type thou some were nice... Defiantly not the place I had in mind to spend a night out, It's really shame that Atlanta doesn't have more places where you can go in with sneakers. They miss a lot of tourists and good people and there are other ways to make a selection such as specifying different lines of dress code. Where I come from people come to the night clubs more or less how they like to and both the population and night clubs themselves are million times better! Don't see myself going back there... I have been going to MJQ/ The Drunken Unicorn for several years now. I enjoy the music there and the crowd. I always go on Wednesday nights because it is free to get in, drinks are cheap and they have fun music that night. Last night, I went there and was shocked by the way the woman at the door acted. I went with two of my girlfriends, two guy friends and one of my friend's boyfriend. The lady didn't charge us cover except for the boyfriend. I AM COMPLETELY SHOCKED THAT THEY WOULD DISCRIMINATE THAT MUCH TO MAKE ONE PERSON PAY OUT OF A GROUP OF SIX!!!!! WHEN I APPROACHED HER TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON SHE TOLD ME, "I'LL MAKE WHOEVER THE F*** I WANNA PAY, PAY" SHE TREATED MY FRIEND'S BOYFRIEND AND I WITH UTTER DISRESPECT. SHE THEN TRIED TO KICK ME OUT OF THE CLUB FOR SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND TOLD ME I BETTER NOT F***ING COME BACK AGAIN. THAT IS HIGHLY DISCRIMINATORY. HE WASN'T THE ONLY GUY OR ANYTHING EITHER. WHY DID HE NEED TO PAY WHEN NO ONE ELSE DID AND IT IS ALWAYS FREE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT???!!!!!!! I AM SO ANGRY THAT I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING, BUT I DID ENJOY THE MUSIC SO IT IS SAD THE STAFF HAS TO SUCK SOOOOOO MUCH. Also, on a side note, the bartenders are slow and rude and every door person I've ever encountered there has been rude in some way, just talking crap about people for no reason and stuff. This place is very different from some of the other places I frequent in Atlanta. When I first arrived, I noticed, parking was hard to find, most probably because I went on a Wednesday and that is supposed to be a busy night. I ended up paying $10 to one of the parking solicitors in one of the lots across the street. I noticed that many other decided to park at the Kroger lot for free, maybe I should've too. The place from above ground looks like a small shack that couldn't possibly hold more than 20 people, but the actual club is underground and the shack is just the casing for the stairwells that lead you downstairs. The crowd was pretty chill and laid back, and it seemed everyone there was on some sort of substance, lol. Just calling it out like I saw it ! I wasn't a huge fan of the music selection in the main room, since it was mostly electronic/techno but I loved the vibe in the 2nd room. They played a lot of dubstep and even had LEGIT dance battles going on inside with some pretty good dancers... I would consider that the highlight of the night. Come tipsy or drunk, because the drinks are not so strong and it took me over $100 to feel my liquor. Overall, a descent spot. I wouldn't stress to go back ASAP, but I would definitely go back again if the wind blew me there. read more

Let me start by saying: I never write reviews. Like... ever. But after what I experienced at MJQ Concourse, I couldn't not say something. There's a light-skinned female security guard who honestly stole the show for me. I saw her get pushed back by women who didn't want their bags checked or didn't like being patted down. But she stood her ground with such calm strength, and didn't let it phase her one bit. It's not just that she's great at her job--it's how she cares. She was constantly checking in on women inside the club, and I saw her gently step in when a guy was being creepy. No fuss. Just made sure that girl felt safe. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to see a woman in security who actually sees us, hears us, and protects us. As a woman myself, that hit different. MJQ, please know you've got a real one on your team. She's not just working the door--she's holding the whole vibe together. If you seek an anthropological expedition into the sewer known as 'Millennial Hipster Douchbagery' this social gathering establishment provides ample field study. Upon arrival your credentials will be shown to what appears to be a former correctional inmate, after exchanging local currency, passage into the bowels of Satan's anus await. The faint smell of urine, coupled with pheromones, bleach and plastic bottle spirits engorge your senses. What appeared to be pounding tribal drums and flashes of multi-colored lights guide you through catacombs of dude-bros/woo-girls, hip-hop playaz and white-shoed dandies with East German haircuts. Admittedly, the sweet sweet siren of the night had me in her clutches, immediately I grasped my leather satchel, and with parchment notebook in hand, full documentation of the surreal began post-haste! Maybe best dance club in Atlanta. Not a swanky place, but thats a good thing. The club is literally underground---like if you dont know where it is you wont find it---its underneath everything. Different nights are dedicated to different music--I try to mix it up so that you dont always hear the same stuff. Like other yelpers said---bring cash as they 'takey not the credit cards.' Not as many ladies as some of the nicer midtown club dancey places, but not as much 'tude either. Wed is the best night but as mentioned above sometimes the tunes get a bit repetitive, as the club has the same DJs every week for their nights. Once upon a time this place use to be one of the most staple spots in Atlanta. Now, well, just an over hyped playground for hipsters and suburbanites shaking their ass to the same tired ass and played out indie dance hits. Yes, you heard the same set last week, you'll hear it at decatur social club on fridays and you're damn right.. you're gonna hear it again at lenny's on saturday. This is 100% a money laundering front for a criminal enterprise (cash only, sketchy bar), which is a whole other issue, because they also STEAL from their patrons. I handed the bartender, who looked like she hadn't washed her hair in weeks, $20 for a beer and got $4 in change. She said she handed the change to my friend. Well guess what, I don't care if she handed my money to the tooth fairy, it needs to be given to me, and she refused to refund me. MJQ feels like a dark garage or cave. Yet I find this venue to be a refreshing change from the Buckhead scene. I am always highly impressed with the music (great DJ's) and the crowd is very peculiar. Really, entering MJQ like being thrown in a jar of mixed nuts (in a cave). I've met Emory students to professionals to indie/emo types, to a drag queen I chatted with while washing hands in the bathroom. this is one of the worst bars/clubs ive been to in a while oh boy where do i start, the place is really dark, smoke is everywhere (weed and blunts) they change 10 dollar cover, mostly a black crowd, the dancing everyone talks about is lame old people who think they can dance,drinks are cheap and will give you a hang over, too crowded cant even move in the damn place, could wait for the night to be over!!!!!!!!! lame lame oh yeah parking is 10 dollars as well even tho you can risk parking by someones house... read more

Came here with some friends. had a good time untill a Arabian man touched my friends ass and knocked her drink out of her hand. my friend comforted the man and security officer made us out to be the issue. Didn't seem to care, ended up asking us to leave and allowing this man to get away with touching someone on their ass thinking it was funny. I get it's a club but when a female is disrespected and touched it should have been handled differently. read more

The place is fun but let's say it's Saturday night and you might've lost your car keys inside. They don't open back up until Wednesday!!! There's no phone number to call and you can't email them because they only reply to "booking" in emails. My car would have to sit in a parking lot and I pray it doesn't get towed because I don't have the keys and can't contact anyone that works there. read more

Believe the hype. Its real... By far the most solid dance club I Atlanta. Solid. Multicultural and fun because of it. The dj finds everyone in the room thru his music on a personal level. You will not walk out without grooving.. Fun people. Feel great again on the dance floor. read more

Great music, but the scene is a little underground for me. I like that they are keeping good music alive, but I'm just not sure why it draws such a strange crowd. Not for everyone, but if you like to dance, it doesn't get much better. read more

LOVE this place. Cheap drinks, great music, and amazing fun. It's for the simple folks, no frills, Everyone there was enjoying themselves and dancing freely.This is how every club in Atl should be like. Great place highly recommended! read more
