One and done! And I've only got myself to blame for this. I have my regular barber at Vinh's. But I decided to give this shop a try since I was close by and also wanted to support local businesses right? Bad idea. I came here on a Wednesday evening and it was not so busy. I was quickly seated to get my haircut. Then the barber proceeded to ask what style I wanted, so I said lets do a fohawk. I asked to make sure he did know how to cut one and he assured me of it. The weird thing here is they don't face you to a mirror when they are cutting your hair. So you don't get the see the progress as things go. Cut to the chase, by the end of my haircut he turned me around and Lo and behold... It's a MOHAWK. I specifically asked for a fohawk so that it's not as intense. This guy was so sure he knew what I wanted also. Just a bit disappointed and have to go into my office job looking like a kid for a few weeks. No biggie right? (See pics that I posted for their crappy cut) And I still had to pay $15 for this joke haircut. OVERALL, if you are looking for a professional cut there are other places that does it way better for the same price. (Vinh's for example). Otherwise, if you are looking for a cheaper cut there are way cheaper places that will do just as crappy of a job as MJ's. I AM NEVER VENTURING OUT TO OTHER HAIR SALONS IN MY LIFE AGAIN. I discovered this shop when I was looking for a new barber. I found Josh on Instagram and his work looked legit. Four visits later, I can tell you that he's legit. SHOP MJ's is your basic barber shop. There's nothing fancy here. It's all business. There are usually 5-6 barbers working here. Everyone is friendly and the vibe is good here. They have a tv so you don't have to miss your sports and they have music too to keep the place lively. Everyone usually takes walk ins but I suggest making an appointment because they stop taking people when it's really busy. PARKING Free street parking. Easy. read more

Came in here , they were down barbers which is not a problem. Waited my son for almost 1 hour and 30 minutes which again isn't a problem because I didn't have an appointment. The problem was that other people also didn't have appointments and the male barber with tattoos everywhere kept taking people he knew before my son. ? They were walk-ins as well. The guy that cut my son's hair was friendly and made sure he was comfortable. He knew my son was scared so he told my son that he would give him a candy after and he did. Other then that, I think he did a good job. I would recommend going in the mornings when they have their $8 cuts on Mondays and Tuesdays. There wasn't too many people when we were there. From what I remember the prices aren't too much. I think the most you would spend is $15 on a regular visit. The environment was pretty relaxed. They had their televisions but the volume was low. Been here 3 times. 2 times with good reviews with about 4 stars but yesterday was a different story. I would rate yesterday as a 1 because how bad Andre messed up me. First time I came the white barber (Luis i think? sorry bad with names). He did a good job so I decided to come back. Two weeks later Luis was busy so an asian dude cut my hair. He did a great job that I tried to grab his contact info but he said that was May was his last month. They been doing such a good job that I decided to bring my nephew with me. Well, I was up first. Andre was cutting my hair. I told him zero on the side, with a fade, and leave the top. Easy instruction right? Well, he zeroed my hair all the way to the top, no fade. I look like a freaken pineapple now. He even had a hard time plastic clipping my hair on top to separate it. I told him to use water and he was like, "O, that works." Wow! I should of stopped him right there, so im partially to blame. Now i have to wear a hat for about 4 weeks so that it can fix itself. I even tipped him a 5. DON'T LET ANDRE CUT YOUR HAIR. So I gave MJ's 4 stars on my first review, but that was after visiting this spot a few times. I feel like it is only right to update this review after being a consistent customer for a few months. I am now giving them 5 stars because I realize that this is like one of those shops where the barbers really treat you like family, and the customers all bs with each other. When I come to get my son his cut, I'm always confident he's going to be the flyest looking kid on the playground; that's how good these barbers are. I still recommend Mike and Christ to do the cuts, but that's only because those two are the only one's that cut my son's hair. But if they're not there or they are busy, don't trip the other barbers get down. Another plus about coming to this shop is there is a bar/grill right next door. I really don't mind when I'm told there is going to be a wait because my son and I go next door, I get my corona and he gets his soda pop...then our barber comes to get us when the chair opened up. I think this is a plus because it can be really awkward sometimes just sitting around waiting for people, while you're waiting with other people; the sidebar is a perfect balance for the barbers. Then, if you really want to get funky, go get your haircuts when there is a good football game on. As a big football fan, I appreciate the fact that I can go to the barber shop and just talk about the game we all love. I find myself dropping in MJ's just to talk about on my way going home. I've been coming here for over a year now and I have to say, I am always satisfied with my hair cut. My particular barber Patrick, he is the one I've been going to for the past year. He is professional, friendly, and most importantly, cuts your hair EXACTLY how you want it. If you come to MJ's and request Patrick (the only Filipino barber in the shop Monday through Saturday), prepare to be impressed. He does get busy though so I would recommend calling the shop ahead of time and if you make an appointment be on time because... He usually has a line waiting for him. My barber was Angel, and he did a great job! It was a lot more than what I expected to pay, but I've been getting a lot of compliments from friends and co-workers. Honestly I just came here for the first time today because all my friends said it was a good barber and the Monday and Tuesdays had a good deal as cuts were only 8$. When I walked in I got a pretty friendly barber when I asked him the price he was pretty funny about it like he said $18 minus 10$ and so forth. When he asked me what I wanted I told him and asked him what would look good on my hair and told him to clean it up. So what he did was give the "cut he gives to most asian guys" because they ask for it. Then I told him I didn't like it and in the end I was so pissed off with my hair , I basically have a shitty Mohawk on my head . So a friend turned me on to a swanky barbershop in South Pas that was good with Beards. I went there, got the treatment, shaved and sculpted my beard and did the whole shabang. I like getting to know people and the moment I asked the barber (also owner) how things are going it turned into the Dr Phil show and he just unloaded his stresses on me. Not only that, but homie charged me $88 for the service. I noticed when I got home that my beard lines weren't straight. Super weak! So then a BETTER friend (who had a nice fade) told me about MJs. He gave me Ricky's number and I schedule my first appointment. I came in on a Wednesday and he cleaned me up solid. As I shared with him my experience about the swanky spot in South Pas, he said, "I can clean up your beard too!" He did a great job. Better lines than the guy up the street. He charged me $20. Then he told me only come back on Mondays and Tueadays because all cuts are only $8. I have been a customer of Ricky's ever since. Not only is he great, but he is chill. No therapy sessions. Just a bunch of cool guys chillin and watching day time TV while talking about funny stuff. Save $80... And get a better cut and shave! I yelped good barbers in the area. One company came up, but the person that I really wanted to see was Cuba. Since he was not there and some of the reviews left me hesitant I kept looking. I came across this barbershop, look at the pictures, and behold! There was Cuba. So I found him and we are headed over there today. When I called to inquire about him and the barber shop I was greeted by a very friendly telephone voice and the had a great rapport and customer service oriented attitude right from the start! Needless to say we are headed over there in about 20 minutes. I will update this comment at that time We showed up about an hour and a half later. I met Mark and Alex Cuba and they are really really good guys. Smart, knowledgeable, and professional. Mark the owner, really knows his stuff. I can tell by how he handled scissors, whipped out cuts, and how he was still walking around making sure that all his barbers we're providing the best service they could...how often do you see that?? And not at a ladies salon? Nice! This is really important for someone like me that works with quality improvement projects all day long. The boys hair came out amazing...... Phenomenal is what one of my boys said! Lol . Each of the boys has different hair textures and different styles, and the barbers jumped right in and gave them exactly what they wanted. As a platform artist and fashion show artist im always looking to stay on top of the trends. Irma has never let me down and her attention to detail is very keen!!!! I've been here three times, the two times before I had my hair done by Irma and Chris. Both times I came out looking crispy clean. The last time I went in I got my hair done by some black dude, I didn't get his name. Told him a 2 all around and leave the top, simple right? He starts cutting my hair like normal. A few minutes later he starts taking off the neck guard and cape. I tell my self wtf aint no way he's done. He gets the mirror and tries to show me he's done but he keeps moving the mirror around and I can't see myself. I tell him that he needs to clean me up around the ears. He states that I asked for a two and that he can't clean any close. He uses the clippers and does a pass again. Then he says done and moves the mirror around again. I still can see but at this point I'm irritated so I tell him yeah that's fine. I pay and give him a undeserved tip and walk to my car. Once I'm home I look at myself in the mirror and notice what a bad hair cut he gave me. The sides of my ears have long hair sticking out behind the ear lobe and my neck still looks nappy.
