He noticed this place as we were walking to get lunch earlier. We ended renting a surrey. It's meant for 2, both would need to pedal but the left side had the real steering wheel. Even when it was Gavin's turn to "drive," I still spun the dummy wheel though I knew it served no purpose. It was instincts. The path we took was along the waterfront which is the only path allowed. It was difficult to maneuver because there were a lot of people and a lot of people that are inconsiderate, too. Like a family of 6 walking side by side? Who are your parents that never taught you basic manners?! Service was nice. They hold your ID until the rental is returned. Gavin had fun. A helmet is mandatory for kids under 18 (free). All you pay is the rental for the bike itself. I'm not sure when will be our next cruise but we will definitely try this again but early in the morning so we can bike freely w/o people.

Wowza! Clearly some 1 star folks are using their friends to bully a GREAT local bike shop. Scott and his crew at MJs Cyclery are the kind of people you want to do business with and then hang out with after work. Honest, straightforward, and knowledgeable doesn't even begin to describe the warm, welcoming manner in which they treat their customers. It's like going over to a friends house...who fixes bikes...and has really cool stuff. We recently had our bike tuned up and outfitted with new pedals, brakes, & lights and I have to say, not only was I happy with the work-I was also impressed that they didn't try to replace or sell me stuff the bike didn't need. They genuinely care about the quality of work they put out and what is best for the customer. I recently had a bike given to me by a friend. I know NOTHING about cycling and or fixing a bike. When I first took my bike in it hardly stayed in gear, and was just downright trouble. I spent 15 minutes talking and being educated by Scott about what they could do to help turn my hunk of metal into an everyday bicyle, and they did. I ride my bike 4.5 miles everyday to and from work and I absolutely love it, I've continued to go back and upgrade my bike and everytime, Scott and Jess are always friendly and respectful. This shop is the real deal, it has that great neighborhood bike shop vibe that is getting harder and harder to come by. Jess, Scott, and Sophia are always helpful as well as being skilled mechanics. The shop is well stocked with awesome complete bikes as well as a wide variety of components to dial in your dream bike. They carry a lot of great accessories for commuting and their maintenance prices are very fair. I recently purchased a Velo Orange frameset through here and was not disappointed! The new wheels we needed ended up a little more expensive than the price range we initially gave Scott, so he discounted them to stay within the original estimate he gave us. The shop exudes uniqueness the minute you walk through the door. The part selection goes a bit deeper and differently than your standard sterile bike operation and the layout and merchandising is arty and warm. Their service rates and prices are more than reasonable and to top it off the most important part and heart of the shop are Scott, Jessie. Next time I went in the worker was high or on some drugs and made some racial remarks that in my opinion should be criminal at the least terminated. The best part about all of this, my bike is somehow in shittier condition than before I brought it in for a tune up. Terrible knocking noise coming from who knows where (I don't fix bikes). I assume this is due to the fact that they didn't even test ride my bike afterwards. listen, I get its the busy season... but you own a bike shop to be in the customer service industry, and there was a lack of customer service that day.

I was in OB this weekend riding around and I got a flat rear tire on my ebike. Called them and…read morethey said they didn't have my tube size. Luckily I had a spare tube, but unluckily I didn't have my 18mm wrench to remove the rear wheel. They said they could do it, and I dropped the bike off. They closed in two hours and said it would be done by 5. Walked by about an hour later (no call), and the bike was in the store and done. Go inside and no one was in the store, but I heard someone in the back. After a few minutes we looked in the back and asked if the bike was done. It was, and it was $20 for the fix. I was happy with that! Started riding out of OB, and by the time we hit Morena area, something felt off. Looked down and the tire looked soft. Within 5 more minutes it was dead flat. Had to call for a ride all the way back home. Today I looked at the tire closely with a flashlight and saw that they never removed the tiny piece of metal in the tire that caused the flat. Took the wheel off and put pressure in the tube, only to find the leak was on the inner (rim side) of the tube. Nothing sharp on the rim, so they must have messed up on the install. Why replace a tube and not inspect the tire? And a bike shop that installs a tube wrong that causes a flat? Gave this place 2 stars just for the fact that I'm only out $20
