New frame and fork with old wheels, handlebars, pedals, and seat.

Ive been to many bike shops over the years, but MJs takes the cake as one of the most honest, professional, and helpful that can be found in San Diego. They worked hard to set me up with a commuter bike, a Marin gravel bike, and keep it in one piece as I subject it to San Diego roads. When the frame cracked after three years of heavy use, they got a new frame and fork, a huge upgrade from what I had, and with the old parts built me a new bike - No charge and no questions asked! If you are serious about cycling, these are the people for you!

Knowledgeable staff and great pricing. Also, they have availability on weekends. Parking can be a little tough at times but definitely worth using their friendly staff.

First shop I went to when just starting to look for a bike. The staff here were super friendly and knowledgeable. I loved that they let me try several bikes with test rides. I mentioned another bike model I was looking at, and they offered honest info even though they didn't sell that particular make / model. Ended up with a new Marin gravel bike that I'm super excited about, and I can rest easy knowing I have 5 years of free tune ups!

rave about MJ's Cyclery to anyone who will listen. When I was first interested in buying a bike, I stopped into the shop to ask question. The tech who helped me was knowledgeable, concise, and I didn't feel pressured or rushed into buying from them. Shortly after, I bought a used bike and took it into MJ's to have the child seat installed. Again, they were honest, patient, and I truly felt like mine and my kid's safety was their top priority. I couldn't recommend this shop enough for ANY bicycle questions or service needs. They are simply amazing. I look forward to being a loyal customer!

Ask the Community - MJ's Cyclery

How much for a full tune up?

Does this shop recycle used bikes?

Hi. Not sure what you mean by recycle? We occasionally take donations of bikes that people no longer want. We generally get them in a good running condition and sell them then make a cash donation of the profit to one of the non profit…

I know San Diego has a lot of local bike shops to choose from, but you will not regret coming here.

I was envisioning myself in bed to read, nap, and scroll on my phone but Gavin had other ideas. He enjoyed the breaks in the room but wanted to do things. I don't blame him. He noticed this place as we were walking to get lunch earlier. We ended renting a surrey. It's meant for 2, both would need to pedal but the left side had the real steering wheel. Even when it was Gavin's turn to "drive," I still spun the dummy wheel though I knew it served no purpose. It was instincts. The path we took was along the waterfront which is the only path allowed. It was difficult to maneuver because there were a lot of people and a lot of people that are inconsiderate, too. Like a family of 6 walking side by side? Who are your parents that never taught you basic manners?! Service was nice. They hold your ID until the rental is returned. Gavin had fun. A helmet is mandatory for kids under 18 (free). All you pay is the rental for the bike itself. I'm not sure when will be our next cruise but we will definitely try this again but early in the morning so we can bike freely w/o people.

I don't know the guys name but he was a young guy and he was working at 10 AM on a Wednesday. Highly recommend if you are getting off of a cruise and want to just hang out in San Diego for the day.
