The stylist chopped about three times as much hair off than we agreed. 4 vs. 12 inches. I will have shorter hair than I wanted for a long time... I love my hair when it's long but it takes a long time to carefully grow healthy length. I wish the stylist had been more careful to cut how we agreed, and it didn't seem like she really paid attention the whole time. The haircut ended up looking okay in general, but it is uneven--not a high quality haircut. I don't recommend this place. It was a bad experience overall read more

We were SO glad we found Ashlee. Seriously, just book her now. We originally found her for our wedding, and she did both mine and my fiancee's hair (two brides). I went to this place because of good reviews... That was a mistake. I do want to say that the hairstylist was a total sweetheart and I really wanted it to work out. All I needed was a bang trim. I have straight bangs, so it's simple. I showed the hairdresser what to do via pictures, explained it explicitly and she did the opposite of what I said and I look like a boy now... I do not recommend if you're going for a bang trim. read more

Tammy has done my hair for 4 years and I won't let anyone else touch it. I've sent dozens of friends and strangers to her, and they've all been thrilled with her work. She is so thorough that people will think your hair has just been styled as it grows out. I have curly/straight hair, so a friend recommended Tammy and I'm so thankful! The idea of ever living in another city and not having Tammy do my hair is scary! I'm a terrible hair client. I've dyed, cut, and rarely styled my hair. Nonetheless, Ashlee was happy to give me the long bob I was looking for, with maintenance tips and plans for future steps to get my hair to where I want it to be. The whole salon felt very friendly and comfortable. The location is pretty unbeatable too for a lunch appointment. I'll definitely be returning. Do note that it's cash only, and the price list is being updated, so you should ask prices ahead of time and bring cash. There is an atm nearby, so at least that helps. read more

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM AND SKETCHY AS F. I called ahead to get a quote for a balayage and they said $300 - which is high but I said okay and made an appointment. I liked the way her hair looked, however when it came time to pay, the stylist charged me $650. Yes, SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS, for a simple balayage treatment. THEN, she expected a tip on top of that. OH and the plot thickens.... The stylist said the salon did not accept credit card, it only accepted venmo or cash. As a result I could not get a receipt so when I went back to fight it and speak with the manager, there was "no proof" of my transaction. DO NOT GO. THEY WILL LITERALLY SCAM YOU. read more

I went here for a hair trim and highlights. I was a bit nervous since it was my first time trying out this studio and it's my hair (I haven't found a great hair stylist I could trust my hair with in Boston for pay few years). My hair had split ends and was feeling dead at the end. I have thick and long hair and just needed a little bit TLC for it to bounce back. Everytime I went to a stylist I felt they never got my requirements right for it to be just a trim and a little bit of shape instead of cutting a whole chunk (I like to keep it long as possible). Ashley got exactly what I wanted. She mentioned straight how much I would need to cut to get rid of the split ends but also saw how much I wanted to keep it long as well. I asked for highlights ( but more from the lower end like balayage -didnt know that term) which she also checked how deep /bright and wanted. After 2 n half hours of the best ever treatment, my hair never felt better! I would highly recommend you to go here. She made my day with hair feeling gorgeous after a long time! I have been going to Tammy for about 4 years now, and she does a fantastic job every time, for much, much less than one might pay on a more fashionable street. I go here for cuts ($30) and chemical straightening (my first foray into high-maintenance hair styling- $100) . I have thick, somewhat-kinky-but-not-curly hair, and after years of hairdressers who didn't bother to look at it before soaking it and cutting it as if it were normal hair, I was thrilled to walk into an unpretentious neighborhood salon and have Tammy listen to me explain my hair "problems" and figure out how to solve them. These are not stylists imposing their agenda on you, nor are they opinion-less hairdressers that will do whatever you ask if they know it won't work. I have VERY thick hair that is of mixed consistency, and it's difficult for me to find stylists who will actually look at my hair and truthfully tell me whether a haircut will work for my hair or not. It always looks good the next day, too! I have never had my hair colored there, but one of my friends gets highlights and colorings done frequently, and it always looks great. Better yet, the price is right! For my tons of hair, it's only $30. My first and only visit to this business was to stop in and get my bangs trimmed. I nicely explained to the hair stylist (who I took to be the older proprietor) how I would like them done, because the last time I had them trimmed I wasn't happy with the way they grew in. She proceeded to ignore me and the moment she snipped her scissors I knew I had made a mistake. Not only did her hands (which were close to my face) smell like cigarettes, my bangs ended up incredibly uneven, with weird short layers on top, and she didn't even cut sections of them. I spent more time at home trying to correct her mistakes than she spent on trimming them in the first place. Because it was fairly dim in the shop, and she didn't finish blow-drying my hair so I could see how uneven the cut was, I didn't complain at the time. I am certainly not going back to get someone else to try and fix them. I am happy that it only cost $5, very sad that I tipped her $5 (I was in a generous holiday mood I guess). I'm almost embarrassed to go out because my bangs look terrible. I do not recommend going here under any circumstances. read more

I've been here a few times to get my haircut by Tammy. She does a pretty good job with the cut, but is really rough with the wash and blow dry part. Be prepared for a lot of tugging on your hair and red scalp! At least your hair will look good at the end. There are always a few other girls in there just hanging out and not really doing anything, I'm not sure why they're there, but they're a little distracting. I work in Kendall Square, and it was conveniently located for me. They did a good job with my fairly straightforward haircut and layering. I have VERY thick hair. Its a tiny little place, not so glamourous (nor snotty). People were nice. However, if you are super tender-headed, beware, the woman did alot of yanking & pulling to wash & style!. I was ok with it though lol. Also, cash or check only, I'm glad I happened to have my checkbook with me. Reasonably priced. I'd give it a try if you are local.
