I was very surprised for all the right reasons by the small restaurant across the street from the beach. Service was fantastic and the food was exceptional. The Caribbean vibe was a nice break from our usual routine. The bartender was very skilled and can make anything you can dream of. If you're in the vicinity, it's worth your time to eat here.

Don't usually review but this place is My wife and I come here about twice a year for the last several years when we stay in the area and the service A+++ I believe our server name is Emmanuel; super knowledgeable about the menu and always gives good recommendations. The Blacken Salmon on curry sauce is incredible!! They also sale their hot sauce by the jar great in everything. Great island vibes!!

Very delicious. The food was well done. Nice job chef! We came for lunch, so I only had a blackened grouper sandwich. The flavors were balanced perfectly and it came with an absolutely delicious sauce. I even loved the side of cucumber salad. It was a different salad than what I'm used to but I loved it. Husband had one of the specials. Shrimp and anduille sausage with buttery grits. His was soo amazing. It had a tomato base. Wow, so good. You can tell that someone know how to cook in this restaurant. It was a little pricey for lunch. I will return again. Nice view of the river. The staff was very friendly.

Parmesan encrusted haddock with lemon butter angel hair pasta

The food and service was excellent!! Wait staff were attentive and personable, clean inside and the food was spot on. Will be a repeat customer for a long time. If there was more stars, I would add them.

Authentic Jamaican/seafood restaurant with friendly servers and tasty food. A blackened grouper sandwich and a crab cake sandwich with 2 sides each, a carafe of flavored tea and water came to $50 with tip for lunch. Seafood entrees were pricy ($30-40) so not considered for lunch.

I picked Mo-Bay for my birthday dinner, and it didn't disappoint. Having experienced authentic Jamaican food before, I can say this was the real deal. I ordered the curry chicken while my wife had the crusted haddock--both were delicious. The service was great, the prices fair, and the ambiance made for a wonderful dining experience

    Margaritas

The Food and service is excellent. The food is Jamaican with just the right spices. The Rum Jerk Shrimp kabobs are delicious and the presentation beautiful. The blackened Mahi Mahi with rice and beans was awesome. Margaritas are very tasty as is the Key Lime pie for dessert.

Is this the type of restaurant where you can dress up some and not be "out of place"?

It definitely is. I actually felt dressed down a bit. You'll maybe even feel the prices are more normal if you 'put on your blue suede shoes' !

    Can you fine outside?

    Yes you can.

Any vegans eat here? What do you order? Can they make ala cart dishes like pasta with garlic and olive oil?

They have three vegan dishes on the menu which were all marked with a carrot. I got the Ital Stew which was very good - and very filling, we took some home. My husband got the angel hair pasta in coconut cream sauce which was also very enjoyable.…

We were able to see the Pelican dive for a fish which was cool. The waitress was sweet and super friendly. She was very helpful and considerate, always checking on us and making sure everything was okay. Now why I am give the restaurant a 2 star review: My husband's Fish and Chips were just okay nothing to rave about. My father's sandwich was not the best as he found it to have pieces of shell in it which was not edible. He said that coleslaw was the worse like it came out of a store bought package. My Drunken Sweet Potato was not fully cooked. My Lobster & Shrimp Mac & Cheese also had pieces of shell in it. I love Mac & Cheese but that was awful! I swear that it came out of a box which is the worse way to make it. Plus the lobster and shrimp must have been puréed in a food processor to form a paste to mix in the Mac & Cheese. I was expecting small chunks of Lobster and Shrimp and a heck of lot more cheese. My MIL's shrimp basket was fine. I have a culinary degree and I expect the best. If I had made that Lobster, Shrimp Mac & Cheese for my chef in college, he would've thrown it in the trash, given me an F and told me to try again! My dad was done and wanted to leave so we paid the bill and left. I didn't notice until further review of the bill that there was a Service Charge of 3.80% added to the bill. There is an explanation for this service charge on the very bottom of the menu in small print. I have worked in restaurants after culinary school and the front of the house (wait staff and bartenders) never had to share their tips with the back of the house (cooks and dishwashers). Everyone except wait staff and bartenders usually gets paid minimum wage. Wait staff and bartenders rely on tips because their hourly wages are lower than minimum wage! From now on I will ask every restaurant if they are going to charge me extra to help pay the cooks and dishwashers, if so I'll walk out. If a restaurant can't paid their cooks and dishwashers minimum wage and have to charge customers an extra 3.80% something is very wrong!

We moved to Melbourne Beach in Jan 2025 and still everything was good. Some changes in dishes we determined were just food costs cuts. This year my son and his family came and we had an early dinner. My 3 yr old granddaughter was excited to go to the shop that was usually by the hostess stand. It was relocated but now had nothing for children. The service was slow but we thought maybe it was busy since it was tourist season. The food was just fair. Last night was my birthday and of all the restaurants in town I chose Blackfins. What a mistake. Walking in was dangerously slick since they had flooding from earlier rain. We were sat in a small booth by the window. We had to walk out of the way since a dog that was a size of a horse was sprawled out on the floor. Our table was absolutely disgusting! It was dirty and sticky and the coasting of shellac had apparently gotten melted and was sticky and black. Even the seat was dirty and I ended up whipping away pieces of paper on my seat with my hands. Everything including my arms stuck to the table. It took awhile for a very young person with zero personality come to take our order. We gave him a drink and appetizer order. I was attempting to forget about how disgusting the table and the large dog was with the view. The drink that didn't have enough ice although I requested a tall glass with lots of ice arrived with the appetizer. It was good despite being served with greasy fried saltines. When I attempted to start eating a very large Woodstork was fishing on the rocks when the people with the large dog started throwing crackers at it..despite signs everywhere not to feed the birds. It then came up to the window and came too close for me to eat since it was eyeing our food. My husband sat still, told me to do so as well and was holding a knife should it attack. After 15 minutes it finally went away. Now our food was cold. We complained to the waiter but all he could offer was, "Thank you for telling me." No offer to relocate. Our main meals came. Both of our fish were way overcooked. Mine was dry and not edible. My husband's was dry but he didn't complain since my birthday dinner was basically ruined anyway. Forget the dessert I just wanted out of that dirty sticky area. So sad! I will have to find somewhere else to take me and my family.

Grilled Shrimp Skewers and NY Strip French Dip. OMG the shrimp were awesome with the crispy carrot wedges were a nice side. Drenched my NY Strip hoagie into the french dip since I love it soggy and it was perfectly flavored. The french fries were plentiful and seasoned well but not as crispy as I would like. The restaurant sits on the river but since it was late there was no view, but we were able to hear the live rock n' roll music coming from the stage at the Sandbar. The clean gender assigned bathroom was gorgeous with green ocean themed epoxy flooring, lizard skin walls and bamboo partitions. It was a WOW effect upon entry.

We live just down the road in Vero Beach, so discovering a neighborhood tavern with this much charm practically in our backyard was a real win. We had already eaten lunch at Nini's Cuban across the parking lot, so we stopped in just for a beer. Within minutes we were pulled straight into the atmosphere. Nancy, the bartender and proprietor, is the kind of host every small tavern dreams of. Warm, funny, and completely at ease, she makes newcomers feel like long‑time regulars while keeping the whole place running smoothly. The beer selection is far better than you would expect from a cozy local spot. There is a rotating craft lineup that rivals bigger bars, along with the classics and a surprisingly solid wine list. We spent half our visit sipping and the other half laughing at the hilarious signs covering the walls and at the antics of a couple of regulars who clearly keep the place lively. We have not tried the food yet, but the vibe alone guarantees we will be back and we will be coming hungry. This is the kind of place where you settle in, meet the locals, and let the afternoon drift. For the record, our beer of choice that day was "Cougar Bait." The waterfront location is definitely a plus. Hard to complain too loudly when you're sitting near the water with a breeze rolling through and boats drifting by. Service was genuinely good, and the Bloody Mary definitely looked the part. Tall glass, spicy rim, tasty shrimp perched on top like it had somewhere better to be. Unfortunately, the cocktail's flavor was duller than last week's dishwater. This one was definitely more BM and less Bloody Mary. The Margherita flatbread followed the same script. Perfectly edible, but completely forgettable. Like someone phoned it in long distance and left me hanging. Flat and flavorless. Strike two. Now the fried fish bites? Different story. Hot, crunchy, flavorful, and exactly what beach bar food should be. Those little guys understood the assignment and saved the day. Next time, I'm sticking to cold beers on tap and bar-food basics.
