Y'all, this place was PACKED on a Wednesday at 1pm during a thunderstorm--that's how you know they're running a high quality operation over here. I didn't try anything too crazy during this visit (cappuccino), but the coffee was great. The customer service was awesome too! Sooo good ! Came here for brunch on a Sunday. About 30 mins wait. Not bad at all. They were very fast with the service and food. First time having buffalo chick'n dip and it was bomb ! I think it was made with darring chick'n. Definitely recommend. I also had the spicy shrooms and waffle. Oyster mushrooms were seasoned and fried to perfection. Big fluffy waffle. Well, went to Mo Better Brews on today and baaabyyyy, this is not just a two thumbs up kinda place, it's an all fingers up kind of place. Oh yea...and it is VEGAN!! Let me say it again so the people on the back row can hear me, it's VEGANNN 100%!! It's taste so good!! The service was great! Brea, our server, was dynamic!! She rendered outstanding customer service (she's the real deal). If you ever go there, ask for Brea, tell her Mrs. Taylor sent you and that she came highly recommend. Came on a weekday for lunch. Had to park on the street as their parking lot is small. Their patio is amazing in good weather. Service was very slow - seat yourself and wait for someone to take your order - but the staff seemed like they were not quite keeping track of new arrivals - they need a better system. Perhaps let people order at the bar and take a number. The food was interesting, innovative, good. Everything is vegan. We had the October special spring rolls with queso, and truffle mac and cheese. The drinks menus have different prices and need updating (coffee prices on the food menu are different from prices on the beverage menu). Overall lovely ambiance and cool eats, but the service needs to be better because those of us on our lunch break need to get back to work! read more

I'm going to be entirely honest, as a non-vegan I did NOT want to like this place. Ron Swanson once said "Veganism is the sad result of a morally corrupt mind." Having tried it, however, I feel like that's an impossible task. There was nothing corrupt about this place. I read a few reviews before going, the first being that the parking lot was small and as a result, parking was difficult to find. The parking lot was small, but we found a place easily enough. We arrived at 11:30 on a Friday and found they were doing a steady business. Another review I read said that it took a long time for servers to arrive at their table, this was not our experience. We were greeted and seated and had drinks ordered very quickly. They sat us outside and it had a very comfortable patio area with fans, good music, and lots of shade. The decor was a modern looking architecture with lots of natural light. It was a pleasant place to have lunch. I will say the patio area is alongside a busy street so it could get somewhat loud, but I didn't mind. Our server's name was Derrick and he did an excellent job making recommendations, getting us our water before we ordered drinks, and talking us through the menu. We ordered the honey hot waffle and the fully loaded nachos. We also each ordered a cocktail. Food came a little slowly, but Derrick explained the kitchen was short staffed, so we knew what to expect. The honey hot mushroom was incredible, the real star of the show. If you had not told me that it was mushroom in place of a fatty chicken or pork, texturally you would not be able to tell. The seasoning on this was great. Too often "honey hot" is either extra hot with a hint of sweet, or over the top sweet and no hint of heat. This balanced the savory with the sweet really well. As a spice lover, I would have loved more of a kick than it had, but this was excellently done. The fully loaded nachos were also delicious. You can tell that it's vegan cheese, but the other toppings and the chips themselves quickly eclipse the chalky-ness I find many vegan cheese options include. The chips we're home made, crispy, and delicious. We had smoked mushroom and beyond meat as our toppings. The beyond stuff you can tell is not meat, but the seasoning was savory and deep so that made up for it. One draw back is I thought the prices were a little steep for the portion size. A waffle with fried mushrooms ran 21 bucks and did not include a side in that price. Still, I feel like the food quality warranted the price, even if the portion was a little small for its price point. All in all, I was very happy with my Dinning experience. The food quality was excellent, though I won't say it will get me to go vegan full time, it certainly was tasty enough for repeat business. read more

The HYPE is REAL! Ordered the breakfast platter with grits, truffle hash, sausage, toast, and elderberry jam, all of which were so good. I really enjoyed the flavor of the grits (never had such savory grits) and the truffle hash and buttery toast were another highlight. I also tried a bit of the breakfast quesadilla and for the price and size, I would say that it's the most worth it. Stuffed with eggs and topped with a unique sauce, I would definitely order it next time. For me, the gumbo was lackluster compared to the other food but worth a try if you're in the mood for it! Mo' Better was a nice addition to my usual brunch places. We chose it as it seemed to have one of the shorter wait times for brunch places on Father's Day and Juneteenth weekend. We ended up placing our name down for an hour wait in a table for 3 and spent most of it in Herman Park. We got a text once our reservation was ready. Once we arrived, we were promptly seated and greeted by our server, Day. She was extremely friendly and checked on us several times. We ordered the brussel sprouts and the spinach artichoke dip to share between 3. The brussel sprouts had amazing flavor but felt a tiny bit under cooked. The dip was fantastic. We also came for the mimosas (a necessity for brunch) and started off with the Black Mimosa carafe (pictured). It was pretty good but i overall liked the hibiscus mimosa better. For entree, I tried the chick'n fried shrooms and grits. Highly recommend. This restaurant is completely vegan so the dishes really have to pack a punch for people to return, and this entree was no disappointment. The grits were great and more on the savory side. Finally got a chance to try this vegan restaurant since Tabitba Brown came. The parking lot is fairly small but accommodated me as I came during the weekday past the lunch hour. I'm not sure how parking will be during the busy hours but I do see off the street parking. At the time of my visit it was seat yourself. They have a really nice patio area outside; however, I opted to sit inside. I was greeted immediately and seated myself. I wanted to try so much but I ultimately opted for the hibiscus mimosa, charcoal lemonade. Asian zang cauliflower wings and shroom and grits flight which is a compilation of all of their sauce variation for the shroom and grits. The drinks were really good; however, I didn't care for the cauliflower wings as the sauce was overpowering. The waiter recognized an issue with my liking of the wings and offered to compensate. The shroom and grits were amazing and plentiful. It really can be shareable. My fave sauces in order were Cajun cream, trill and hot honey. I will definitely return. The food is amazing, the ambience is nice and the set up is cute for ladies brunch, couples night out, or solo date! Delicious! So the food here is actually great. But the wait...it was atrocious. More on that later. The basic waffle was delicious! I also had the shrooms and grits flight and the spinach and artichoke dip. All were great! The restaurant is well decorated and the ambiance is really nice. The staff was quite friendly as well. Now about the wait. I think the explanation for our two hour wait was a lack of efficiency. I don't own and have never run a restaurant, so take this with a healthy serving of salt lol part of the issue was the on and off rain, which made certain tables unavailable. I would make three suggestions. First, I'd suggest enforcing the table time limit. But before that, I would reduce the limit to 90 minutes after receiving your food. Second, I would suggest not seating a party of two at a table that seats 4. When giving the wait estimate, base it on the party number. This means a wait for 2 may be longer than a wait for 4. Third, I would suggest reducing the portion sizes but keeping the price the same. It will take less time to cook them, result in less food waste, and improve efficiency. All in all, I loved it and would come back with the understanding that I may be waiting for several hours. A nice guy did bring cold water for those waiting, so that was cool. read more

I came here for the first as a recommendation from a family member. The business parking lot is small, but there are options of paid lot parking, or street parking for an hourly fee. We arrived at 4:45pm and the restaurant was not crowded. About five tables were occupied with people. We stood at the hostess sign for about 5min because there was a sign that stated, "please wait to be seated." A staff member noticed we had been standing there for a while and asked if we had been helped and informed us to sit anywhere. He then turned the sign around hiding the statement. I assumed they utilized the sign on busy days and hours. We decided to sit inside because it was chilly outside. There seemed to be plenty of outdoor seating. Inside the space is small with the options of bar seating, high table top two seaters, and about 5 tables that seat 4-5 people. The decor was cute and eccentric. There was great R&B music playing in the background. You can purchase vinyl records there as well. There are two unisex restrooms available at the establishment. Our waiter Destin came quickly with water and menus once seated. She was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. My cousin and I ordered the three charcoal lemonades ($8 ea.), Boudain balls $12, buffalo cauliflower wings $10, the loaded nachos $15, and the hot honey shrooms and grits $17. I enjoyed the Buffalo cauliflower wings. The Boudain balls were good, but I needed more sauce to eat with them. My cousin thoroughly enjoyed his hot honey shroom grits. The loaded nachos were okay. The beyond meat on the nachos was too salty and the queso sauce made with coconut base lacked flavor to me. I would rate the dish 6/10. I would not get it again personally. The charcoal lemonade did not taste like lemonade. It reminded me of kool aid but I could not associate it with a flavor. The lemonade was very sweet. Towards the end of the drink it had a gritty texture but overall was a decent drink. Overall we spent $84 total on our meal. This was a bit pricey to me and it was my first time eating at a vegan establishment. Therefore I am not familiar with their menu pricing for the alternatives. I would try this restaurant again but go for their breakfast food and coffee. read more

There were only about 2 other tables when we walked in and we were greeted and seated by our waitress (her name escapes but she was so sweet and so was the woman training alongside her). There were some waiters and waitresses roaming outside who were kind, checked in on us, gave recommendations, and took any requests. PRICE/VALUE: The entrees are a bit on the more expensive side for brunch ($21 for the hot honey shrooms & waffles I got), but the portions are good, and my friend and I both had some leftovers we took to-go. I had the cauliwings (9/10). The ranch was meh but the wings were great. Dilla Donut Sandwich (9/10). So flavorful but a little spice kick at the end and I'm not a fan of spicy BUT this was great regardless. Brunch tacos (10/10). Sooooooooo good and very well seasoned. My non vegan niece, loved these the most. Breakfast quesadillas (10/10). I customized mine, no hash and added sausage. My favorite thing I've tried so far Strawberry cheesecake pancake (7/10). Pancake was soft but lacked a little flavor. The toppings definitely helped but it needed a little more umph. Overall this place was bomb. I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. I've eaten here at least a dozen times. It's vegan soul/comfort good. Everything is soo yummy and satisfying. Their pancakes are the best I've had anywhere. When you get them with the toppings they are oh so decadent. I love the "lump crab" gumbo (the lump crab is lion's mane mushrooms). The dips, waffles, everything Also there is a very relaxed vibe, a super cute patio area, and excellent music (sometimes they even have live bands and djs). They do have room for improvement, the food can sometimes be slow to come out, so I don't recommend going when you're hungry or with a large group, and the bathrooms remind me of a (clean) gas station. Completely blown away by the food and service at Mo' Better Brews. We dined in on a HOT Saturday - the A/C didn't seem to be working that day which left us a lil sweaty, but no biggie. This place is 100% vegan and 100% delicious, with a creative menu featuring southern food classics. To drink, the Elderberry Mimosa is a must (they don't serve hard liquor here). To eat, we tried a variety of items. The crispy Brussels: WOW!! These Brussels are perfect and I ate them like candy. The Boudin Sushi Roll is a unique must-try, and the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich was solid-be sure to upgrade your side to their delicious truffle fries. The star of the show was DEFINITELY the 'Shroom and Grits Flight: what a genius idea to offer the flight to allow you to try each flavor-this made my indecisive self so happy (and each flavor was incredible!). Not a single food item missed, but what was just as amazing as the food was the service: our waitress Amiya (probably spelling it wrong, so sorry!) was one of the sweetest waitresses I've ever had. No question or request was a bother for her, and I enjoyed just having back and forth conversation. This vegan restaurant hasn't disappointed me yet. Whether you're ordering the hot honey Shroom with grits or the Shroom with waffles you won't be disappointed. Artichoke dip is a hit. The cauliflower is really good. The sushi rolls are one of our favorites which must be popular amongst others as they're always sold out. If you haven't had vegan food before, this would definitely open your eyes and taste buds to understand that there are really some good alternatives out there besides meat. AWESOME VEGAN PLACE! This is probably the best vegan food place in Houston. I have been here about three times and have brought non vegan friends with me who throughly enjoyed this place. My non vegan friends felt that the vegan chicken was delicious and that they did not even miss "real chicken" at this meal. I really enjoyed the croissant sandwich and the pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and light. If you are going with a group of friends for brunch, I recommend getting the pancake flight so that you can share and try all the flavors. The croissant sandwich was flaky and delicious! I also tried a piece of the chicken; it looks like it is made out of some mushroom. Very delicious! For appetizer, I recommend the spinach and artichoke dip. It was creamy and you couldn't even tell it was vegan! Service was a bit slow, especially in the brunch hours in the weekend. Also, parking was a bit difficult to find for brunch. They have about 10 spots in their restaurant lot and if you can't get a spot there, you will have to park in the street. It had delicious vegan cheese, plant based sausage and was packed full of veggies - my favorite. My boyfriend has a small appetite so sharing the breakfast hash, croissant and egg scramble was perfect for us! The staff was super friendly and seemed to actually like their jobs - most restaurants nowadays have grumpy servers so that was a breath of fresh air. We also appreciated that they were wearing masks!!! We sat outside on the patio and the fan above us kept us cool. The have such a cute patio area, I recommend you sit out there if it's not too hot and if there's seating available! I've had fried mushrooms but not oyster mushrooms. The oyster mushroom was super mushy. Spinach and Artichoke Dip needs some work. Idk exactly what was missing but this missed the mark for me. This a totally hidden gem in Houston. Several things support my opinion: 1. The food is delicious! That should always be the first reason to go to a restaurant and that IS the primary reason here. This is a vegan restaurant but it totally upends the idea of bland, tasteless vegan food. This Is So Good! 2. The service is so personal and warm; I want to come back every day. I feel like I'm eating with friends here. 3. The portions are very generous and filling. 4. It's obviously a family , personal business totally deserving of our support. I would not recommend coming on a cold day. It was very busy today. We waited about an hour for a table of four and it was freezing outside. They don't have a waiting area so we lined up on the side walk. We would up taking seats at the bar that opened up. Bar seats are first come first serve. I couldn't stand to be outside any longer. More than half of their seating is outside on their decks but they do have space heaters. Aside from the wait in the cold, I enjoyed everything about the dining experience. They really know how to make vegan food taste good! Both dishes that I tried were delicious and my friends' food looked good too. Our waiter was the bartender and he took great care of us. I would definitely return to this restaurant again to try another dish, but on a warmer day when I don't mind waiting outside. read more
