Wonderful experience with Mobile Connections. I called during the morning and spoke with Brandon and he was able to get me scheduled same day in the afternoon for a Dash Cam Install. I wanted to have a car stereo installed in my husband's car for Christmas. His was old. I wanted to use a local business. So I called around. I could tell right away when I talked on the phone to Brandon that they were a very friendly business. And he assured me they could get the car in right away. Sure enough two days later I brought the car in and a stereo my son gave me to be installed. They quoted a very fair price and started the work. Sadly the car stereo I brought kept erroring out but they were so thorough and diligent that I felt really secure that a resolution could be found. Luckily they had an even better stereo that they installed at an incredibly reasonable price. They didn't overcharge me for parts or labor. AND they even filled my incredibly low tires with air. Wanna do a conclusion first, if you have time and a friend to drive you back, I suggest you should go to the shops in Sac. The mobile connection provides inaccurate quote and estimated needed. Their quote for is $65 and 1-1.5 hr needed, but turn out costing $120 and 4 hrs used. Not a well prepared shop, but they at least make my head unit works it should be. this is my first review on yelp, I hope my review is useful for everyone in Davis. I m a student in UCD, and I found that there is only one shop in davis do car stereo stuff. Therefore, I gave it a try as its in downtown, the closest shop I can reach. The shop owner, Ron, is nice, and he is patient to introduce the thing I need which is a head unit for my car. However, there are not many choices there like 6-7. And the end I got a quote for the stereo and installation, $169 for the JVC bluetooth head unit, $20 for dash kit, $18 for the harness, and $35 for labor. I think they hv a reasonable and competitive price as the labor is really low. But, I dun like the head unit they hv, and I order one on amazon. Then, I gave them a call to make an appointment for last Wednesday and they called for further information and they said they will give me a call to confirm, and they just didnt call me bk. On last Tuesday, I called them to confirm if I hv an appointment, they said yes, and I asked where should I drop the car. They said call me bk later to let me know. And same thing, no call bk. On Wednesday, I drove the shop, and he said he cant do installation for me, as they called me many times, n cant reach me. WTH....how my friends can call anytime they want while u cant call me once. Therefore, I got quote from other shop in Sac, they quote higher for labor, then I gave that shop one more shot. They quoted 85 this time, 55 for labor, 30 for part. Its still lower than the shop in Sac, so I tried. Finally, I got it done, it costs $120 and took 4 hours at the end while he said 1-1.5 hours to be done. read more

Ripped-Off !!! After seeing the ads for $30/month unlimited, I get my iPhone unlocked. There is no MetroPCS store in Tahoe, so I stop by this location as I am driving through on I-80. Walk in the door and was eventually greeted by a young man with no name tag. I tell him I would like to switch from AT&T to his cheapest plan. He informs me that I'll need to buy his phone to do so. We go over his products but as I'll lose all my contact info from my iPhone4, I decided to keep it and accept the $40/plan. He informs me that the cost to switch over will be $70.80, including the first month's payment. I literally had $70 in my wallet and had to scrounge the car for the $.80. While we are going through the process of signing me up (name/address/etc), installing and syncing their SIMs card, I tell him I the reason I am seeking the CHEAPEST possible plan is because I work as a National Park Service Ranger in the North Cascades (and will have NO cellular service for 98% of the summer). I simple want to keep my phone number that I have had for 12 years, and would be checking voicemails a couple of times a month. Of course, he nods and acknowledges my desire to stay connected at a minimal cost. I also confirm with him that my total bill will be a total of $40 even - no taxes, fees, etc, and it will be due on the 20th of each month. So we do the paperwork, I give him every last dollar in my wallet and walk out the door with a receipt ... No, wait! When I get home, I realize that all I received was a copy of the MetroPCS BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Disclaimer and Return Policy. I am not terribly worried, as the phone is working: incoming, outgoing, mail & web. First thing this morning, I get a text from MetroPCS thanking me for signing me up and reminding me that my $60 (!!!) payment will be do on the 20th of every month. WHAT THE F$&@ !!! I search the Internet and have a hard time finding a number for the actual shop (Mobile Connections, 720 2nd St, Davis, CA). When I finally do get a number (thank you yellowpages.com), I leave a message and, of course, NO ONE calls me back. I tried logging onto MetroPCS.com but am unable to from my iPad (it did work later from a PC). I finally get a a real person (foreign call center?) who very politely informed me that I had signed up for a $60/plan. According to their computer, there was no record of the other $10.80. I told them my story and they immediately switched me to the $40/month plan, so I paid $2 for service yesterday, and will pay the lower rate for the rest of this month, with the "overpayment" being credited to my account. Having not heard back from the SOB in Davis, I called the Rocklin store, pretending I was a new customer. While I was informed that I could not use my iPhone on the $30/mo th plan, I was decisively told that I could sign up for a $40/mo th cost for No charge, other than purchasing a SIMs card for $10 + tax ($10.80). Summary: the SOB salesman in Davis lead me to believe that 1) in order to use my iPhone on MetroPCS I would have to pay $20.80 fee, 2) that he had signed me up for a $40/month plan Also he did not provide me with an itemized receipt for my purchase, and never returned my phone call after leaving messages on the store voicemail. BAD-BAD-BAD customer service! I have forwarded this complaint with MetroPCS! read more

Overall, Mobile Connections is a super unprofessional shop that is not ready for prime time. Perhaps the only reason they stay in business is because they are the only car audio place in Davis. My experience with Mobile Connections seemed great in the beginning...I walked in on Monday 9/24/12 before noon looking for a new car stereo, got some help and what they had to offer seemed perfect so I was ready to buy. They even thought Ron might be able to install it that day. "Sorry, not today, but we'll call you later today with an appointment time for next week." The employee said he had to talk to Ron about his schedule. Nobody called back so I called in the late afternoon. The guy on the phone didn't know anything, so another guy had to call me back and scheduled an appointment for the following Monday at 12:00 noon. The scheduling thing was the first warning sign, but I let it slide and was looking forward to an awesome new stereo the following week. Monday 10/1/12, a little before noon at the Olive Street installation place and it's a ghost town. I called over to the Mobile Connections store on 2nd Street to make sure somebody was coming in and nobody answered the phone after at least 20 rings. Uh oh, did I get the day mixed up? Are they on vacation? Nope, I drove over to the 2nd Street store and there is 1 employee on the phone with a potential customer going on and on. Meanwhile my ride has arrived at the Olive Street place waiting to pick me up and I still don't know what's going on. When the employee finally hangs up, I ask about my car stereo installation and he then calls Ron who tells him he did't know he had an installation today. So sorry, but he won't be coming in to do it. Really? The in-store employees were visibly embarrassed and didn't seem to know what to do. They just said sorry and let me walk out. Weird. I suppose I could have rescheduled, but then I was concerned about their customer service and follow up if something went wrong with my stereo. What a hassle. Now I will be going to Woodland or Vacaville. So many businesses in Davis wonder why people don't shop 100% local. read more

They fixed my alarm a couple of years ago and now I had them add an iPod adapter to my Toyota Tacoma. They did a great job and gave me the best price that I could find.
