No frills place serving up seafood. The place is interestingly full of overseas (south African, Bulgarian etc) workers, who are fun to talk to about how they found themselves at the cape. We stopped here for a late lunch on our drive to the cape and it wasn't too busy at around 2pm on a memorial day Saturday. You order at the counter and then sit down, where they will bring the food to you. I had a boiled cod sandwich that was excellent- tender large piece of fish with a solid bun with lettuce and tomato. Sides are extra and the cod sandwich alone was $13, which feels pricey, particularly for outside Provincetown, but I did think the quality was good. read more

Since it was out first time here we had to try as much as possible. The set up was different than I expected. You go to the counter and order your food and give your name then sit down wherever you want and someone brings your food to you. We started out with a couple clam chowders. They were your standard creamy chowder you would find anywhere on the cape. Normally I would prefer it scalding hot but since my mouth was sore I was satisfied with it being just warm. We got a combo platter with belly clams, shrimp, scallops, and cod. And a 2 lb lobster bake with steamers, corn, and baked potato. Everything was cooked great but the scallops and shrimp were the stars of the combo; the clams and cod being somewhat average. The lobster was so tender and probably the best cooked I've ever had. It's too bad they don't have a hot lobster roll. I thought the seafood portions could have been slightly larger for the price so I would probably rate it 4.5 but rounding up because of how good the lobster was. read more

Fantastic spot! Had the best steamers to start followed by lobsters. Lobsters were sweet as well as the corn! My husband,Bill, and I were the first to be served today after watching lines at night. It's BYOB which we like and they gave us an ice bucket and all. Todd, the owner, took time to talk to the tables and suggested a great time to come up to the Cape is after Labor Day. This is our new go to. The food is good. The wait staff is friendly amd the portions are great. They really have their act together in terms of handling popular times of year. It's no frills and you sit at picnic tables but it's REALLY good. Our review begins with my sim who spilled a giant pitcher of water into his dinner. The staff apologized and gave him a $20 gift card after his dinner was ruined. Super nice of them and thoughtful. Two days later we returned amd my son dropped the gift card between the cracks of Mobys decking and, after we showed them the card and their was no way to get it out THEY HAVE US ANOTHER. That is the height of taking care of customers. Onto the food. One word - Delicious. They have a good menu and plenty of seating. A little background. We were on the hunt for a new go-to after it was found out the owner of a similar restaurant (which shall remain nameless) down Rt 6 was found to be at the Jan 6 insurrection in DC. We could not support that business/owner any longer and it is sad because we've been going there for over a decade. Mobys is a great place to go with family and we'll definitely be back. Authentic, homemade seafood, right out of the ocean, bay, dock, wherever they get it from. Excellent food! Wide variety of food to pick from. They got hamburgers on the menu, I'm sure they're great, but when I'm in Massachusetts, I want me some fine seafood. Me and the Mrs. split a bowl of the Cape Cod clam "chowdah". Very good. Chunks of crab, potatoes, delicious, hot and creamy. For my main course I had the Moby's scallop sandwich, the menu indicates that's a Moby's favorite item! Score. It was good, check out the picture with this review. 6-7 scallops covered in cheese and bacon all on a toasted Philly roll. Boy, am I glad I picked that. It was great, nothing more to say, a picture's worth a thousand words, it was delicious. The wife had the fried scallop platter, she said it was very tasty. Great lobster! They offer to open the claws and the tail for you which helps a lot. They have a great buttery dipping sauce. It's byob. We didn't order anything besides lobster but others did. Great place for seafood. It's a casual place. You place your order at the counter then they bring the food to you. If you come during any meal time expect to wait because it's that good. We were there at 2pm & it wasn't too much of a wait. The prices are a little high, it's the Cape after all but the portions were very generous. Been coming to Moby Dicks every summer for years, the food is always excellent. It's a simple seafood joint that really knows how to do everything right. The service is always great with food coming out quickly from the kitchen every time. The staff here are even willing to accommodate special requests, this summer I found myself with a 5lb lobster that wouldn't fit in my lobster pot. Finally back on the cape after years of not going and the FIRST place I always eat at when am here. Have been coming here since mid 1990s when I had my yearly ritual week in the Cape. I have yet to find any other restaurant that is a "MUST DO NO MATTER WHAT" when am here, and I prefer several visits. Am not sure that anything is not amazing. Last night it was fish and chips and iced coffee. Friend had clam chowder, perfectly thick with plenty of clams, and crab cakes. All the fried seafood is great (if am on vacation, am eating fried) later in the week I will get my next favorite which is the fried clams strips. The lobster is always a feast, the raw Wellfleet oysters are perfection, the fries, corn on the cob and slaw you could make a meal out of. Get a dessert! You can bring your own beer and wine and they will chill it for you. There is always a line, but it moves fast. If I come to the outer Cape, here and P'Town Lobster Pot (my second favorite spot) are the 2 "I am going" places. Am leaving this week without getting to P'Town and Lobster Pot, but have been multiple times to Moby Dick's. read more

The first time we came (May 2015) I had fried clams and my husband had a combo plate (fried shrimp, fried scallops and fried clams) and they were both delicious. It's not a bad choice for a Cape Cod clam shack. They have most of the usual fried suspects as well as some other things. I know it's Wellfleet and all but raw littlenecks on the menu in addition to the oysters would be nice. The grilled seafood kabobs are really good if you want something that's not fried. The chowder is also very good. It's not cheap but the prices are about average for these type places in this general area. Lines can get long in the evening but again typical for these places so you shouldn't be surprised. Some of the things that set this place apart from other similar places: They take credit cards no problem. They are BYOB! They will even provide ice buckets for your wine or beer. That's a big win and money saver. And the people who work there are exceedingly nice despite the place being crowded and busy. Interestingly they didn't seem to be short handed as so many places on the Cape are right now. Good for them I guess. Overall if It's a clam shack you crave this is a decent choice. read more

Don't get me wrong, the food is outstanding, but it's a fun, really well run place. You will find one of the owners there greeting guest or checking on how they are enjoying their meals. The staff is amazing, every year. Some are locals but every year they recruit foreign students here on J1 visas. It's like the United Nations, l love talking and finding out where they are from and how they are enjoying their time in the states. You will almost always have a line waiting to get in to order at the counter and then get seated, but it's moves really fast. For my family, no trip it's complete to Cape Cod without the trip to Mobys! The place has been under the same ownership for the 20 years that we have been going, and the consistency from year to year is amazing! Fresh seafood is the star, and the supporting actors are the international crew of serving staff. Food couldn't be fresher and the staff couldn't be nicer or more attentive. No reservation policy makes it easy to stop by if you're hungry and I haven't organized a restaurant for the evening yet. BYOB while on line makes it fun to chat with others. A nice couple at Puma Park mentioned Moby Dicks is a common stop for their family so we decided to try it out. I was so impressed with the food!! We got the fried dill pickles, scallop sandwich, cape cod salad, the fish and chips, and they brought out a complimentary crab cake! Stumbled into this restaurant on our way home from our day trip to the cape, not knowing what to expect not checking the reviews. Very good experience with the service and quality of the food we ordered. Lobster was great. The lady greeting us was friendly explaining how the system works with ordering at counter and grab our own tables after. Outdoor seating was perfect. All our waiters and waitresses were great and friendly. Think management walked by a few times checking on customers, occasionally chatting up the tables. On our first night staying in Truro, my boyfriend took me out to dinner here. It is one of his favorite restaurants on the cape and after tonight, I can clearly see why. They have a super organized ordering system. You come in and look at their menu, and put in your order with the front desk and pay. Then, you wait to be seated. Once seated, your order is brought to your table fairly quickly. It is a BYOB, which I loved, even though we opted for sodas. For my dinner entree, I loved my broiled cod with lemon and butter. The fish was perfectly cooked and besides the lemon and butter, did not need anything else. My entree came with a corn on the cob and a baked potato. The corn on the cob was so sweet and reminded me of our Jersey corn. For his dinner, my boyfriend had a tasty cup of the clam chowder and the burger and fries. He loved every bite of his burger. Our waitress, Kelly, was a young sprite from South Africa. All I had to do was turn my head and look back at her and the other waiters, and she was at our table within seconds. This was a fun stop along the Maine coast! It has a hole in the wall feel as well as fun decor and sights inside. The food was decent, but not my all time favorite. The woman taking orders was a little abrasive and made the first impression a little hard to recover from. Was here a year ago and although it was COVID the food and service was very good. Last night (Tuesday ) it was not as good. They don't have waiters. You order at the front desk upon entering and then are directed to the dining area where an employee shows you to your table. It is BYOB. The food is then brought to you as it is ready by another employee who shouts your name out in the dining room to find you. Food and plates are cleared while your eating. They don't check in on you very much to see if you need anything so you have to get up and find someone. My husband and I started with a crab cake and oysters, both of which were very good. We split a fried calamari which was a small order and a bit overcooked (on the rubbery side). Ponzu sauce was good. We asked for the calamari to be served after the other apps but got the calamari first. We were told it would be out 2nd. My husband had a 2 lb. Lobster which he said was delicious and abundant. I had broiled scallops with rice pilaf & broccoli. My scallops where like rubber and very chewy, barely any taste. Rice was dried out and virtually tasteless. The broccoli was not fresh & was hard. Our bill was just over $155.00. This is great for large families where you can bring a team of kids and not have to worry about leaving a mess. I would come back if I just wanted to eat on the fly. Don't expect professional service or a top shelf meal. From the minute we walked in we were "handled" by the staff, not allowed in until my husband parked the car(even though it was raining), were shown a table which was next to 2 open windows facing the (wall?!?) and it was raining and windy. I asked for another table and felt like I was imposing. I felt like they were controlling where we walked and how we moved. Very strange. This place has a great small town seashore feel. Fast service, and friendly servers. I like that they all wear name tags that say where they are from! Nice conversation starter. We had dinner here two nights ago and it was just what we needed; excellent food, great service and reasonably priced. We didn't know it was order at the counter and BYOB but it was really a great concept. So, 2 days later we're headed out of town and stopped for lunch. Had lobster rolls (see photos) and had a great meal and even better experience. Met the owner Todd and his wife Mig. Just what you want to have happen on vacation. He was so personable, checked on us and even brought us nicer plastic cups for our wine. Just a great person and his sister and brother in law own Winslow's that we ate our first night in Wellfleet and I reviewed that and gave it five stars. Todd came back to check if we were doing ok and said there was a mistake n the kitchen and asked if we could help him out by eating a full order of scallops (on the house of course) and they were some of the best we had ever had. The mistake was fabricated and was his way of thanking us for our patronage. When your in the Cape, do yourself a favor and stop here at least once.
