My girlfriend and I stopped here for lunch. We got 2 drinks, fish and chips, a cheeseburger (didn't come with fries, those are extra) and fried calamari. You order at the front counter, pay for the food right then, and then sit wherever you'd like and they do bring the food over to you but it's not like a traditional waitstaff role and after a grand total of $74.85 I was still presented with the do you want to tip 20% on the little kiosk thing that you tap your card on. I tip for service, not somone handing me my food on a tray. This place is for you if you wear Birkenstocks, drive a Tesla and you're willing to drop $80 on basic seafood for two people. Our favorites were the hot lobster roll, lobster salad roll, and the clam chowder. I bought a lobster salad sandwich. It was expensive and the portion was small. It was of mediocre quality. I'm not a fan of counter service. I would prefer to sit down and be waited on, for that price. Ounce for ounce, you can pay the same at the nearby five star resort, for a larger portion and better quality. The dining area was clean. That restroom was gross and smelled horrible. The two stars are for the polite staff. They did a good job. This place is ok, I guess, for fish and chips and beer, in a fast food atmosphere. Cookes is the best place for clam strips and hamburgers (believe it or not!) in the area. The fish sandwich is excellent as well. Good, reliable food and service. Not the best ambiance (sort of an echo chamber/cafeteria feel), but it is a great place for takeout! Very casual. Perfect with kids. Truly, excellent customer service never had fried food before that had so little grease on it. It was almost dry and needed more grease! Clam chowder was excellent. The whole belly clams tasted good, but the bellies were tiny. When I asked the manager, who by the way was amazing... He said that these clams are a higher grade of clams with small bellies... I've eaten fried clams my whole life, and my partner grew up on the Cape and we've never heard of this. Definitely not the best clams on the Cape as they have on their sign. I am picky about most food. I really enjoyed Cooke's cold lobster roll. It was really good, had nice flavour, and was more affordable than most places in the lower Cape. I am not an onion ring person but their onion rings were fried very nicely. By the end of my meal, I was sad there wasn't more but happy to have had it. They do have a jumbo lobster roll which I am curious how large it truly is but I bet it's just as delicious. The service is quick and the food comes out pretty soon after ordering. They do have options to buy alcoholic drinks and sodas. There are seats available if you want to eat inside or you could take it to-go. It's casual and no frills. I would go back. :) read more

Not a whole lot to say about Cooke's but it's a high-profile lobster roll place on Cape Cod, perhaps my preferred new one. While prices have gotten too high in my opinion in the lower Cape where we vacation, for these days it's okay in Orleans for whatever reason. The food comes out pretty quickly I found. You get what you want with a great amount of flavorful lobster meat which is how it should be. The onion rings are also noteworthy and should absolutely be tried! read more

MDF ordered scallops which looked like they were baked with zero seasoning, some said lobster rolls were inconsistent, some good some were good and some just "ok" . First time trying scallops so I'm not sure how they're supposed to taste. Got the scallop roll and they were lightly fried, which I like over heavily fried, but they were watery and the bun was already soggy when I got the roll so they may have been made from frozen. The seafood is DELICIOUS. I have childhood memories from family vacations in Cape Cod patiently waiting in line at Cooke's for their fried seafood goodness. I visited from NYC recently and the food is as tasty as I remembered all those years ago. The calamari was well seasoned and light. My friend had the fried shrimp and she tore her food up. Things to keep in mind: The salads are really big. Two people can easily share one of order of it. The service was also great. When we entered, we were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. The staff were professional and polite. There is a parking lot and indoor and outdoor seating available. We were hungry but not looking to break the bank. And we had been out doing touristy things all day so were not appropriately dressed for a fine dining establishment. My wife had this place written down as a place to try. We pulled into the parking lot a little after six and it was packed. Good sign. There was a line stretching from the door. We didn't know, but everybody makes their order at the counter, chooses whether or not they want to sit inside or out and then their dinner is delivered to their table. We both chose fish and chips. I'll have to say this is some of the best I've had. The fish instead of the batter is definitely the star of the show. The portion was more than enough and was only $17. Have gone here occasionally for three decades. They have developed a good pick up system in Covid. Food is basic shack food. Fine. They missed one item in my 3 item order. Alas. Had fish taco and clam roll. Best ever? No. But okay fried food. Taco with lettuce and tomato and sauce. Never got my fries. My husband heard me order them clearly on phone. But hey, maybe they were keeping me healthy. Truth: many of my favorite lunch places are closed in late November on Tuesday. Cooke's is open and we had ok take-out lunch. Cooks is a very unassuming order at the counter restaurant, but don't underestimate the food quality. I've eaten there twice in the past several weeks. Twice I had chicken and the third time I had broiled salmon. Both were cooked perfectly, which isn't easy to do. I don't know how often I get chicken breast that are dry as leather and overcooked fish. They do a fine job with both. I'm glad it's close by because I'll be going there a lot this summer. read more

Good seafood restaurant in Orleans. The lobster roll was extremely good, got one with mayo and one plain. Lunch was not busy there in June. Clean, lots of parking. Onion rings were awesome. The veggie burger was outstanding, like you would get at a fine restaurant. Tasted homemade. It came with fries. Huge menu with lots of options for everyone. Lots of vegetarian options like frid tofu tacos and salads with fried tofu. It is a tad expensive, but it is a seafood place in Orleans. My husband and I along with our baby wanted to get out of the house to get some lunch. It was a rainy and misty week on the cape but we needed to get out and we decided to try Cooke's. It is perfect for a little baby or small kids. We are outside and my son enjoyed watching the cars and the action on the street. My husband and I split a lobster taco , a calamari plate and we both had clam chowder. We both enjoyed it all. It was definitely a good call to split the food because they give so much. It's nice they have wine and beer to choose from As well. The service was quick and I like the fact that you order at the counter and they bring it to you. If it's been years since you've been to Cooke's, it's time to return, Hell they outlasted the Christmas Tree Shop (( RIP )) and there is a reason. Though I'm sad to report that they no longer use the little microphones with the long, bendable mic stands to call your number both inside and outside - the service was personable, kind and just as efficient; we had no problem hearing them call number 7 , even without the mics. They make a bold claim on their sign, "voted the cape's best clams by Cape Cod Magazine" ( also RIP) and as a seasoned clam connoisseur myself, i can say that actually might be true. the whole belly clams were fresh and delicious and the batter was light and fried to perfection - exactly the way it should be. the portion was generous and the price is very reasonable. I appreciated the vegetarian options and the low-key greek diner vibes, like a great greek salad with homemade dressing and baklava. pitchers of draft beer, milkshakes and fountain soda's round what now feels like a vintage cape cod classic. my only suggestion, since they still have those ceiling mounted speakers outside from the bendy microphone days, i don't think anyone would be mad about a little yacht rock on the patio ; ) read more
