    After treatment!

Kelly Huynh was my aesthetician and I was honestly blown away. I had a head spa in Taiwan and have since been obsessed. The complication is they don't have them in Portland... that is until I found Moc Beauty on Instagram! I've been pretty stressed out from work and have been having some pretty bad migraine crisis' so I booked a session with Kelly. I didn't know what each session would be like so I requested the 75 minute session thinking that might be too long. When I got there Kelly greeted me and explained the different services offered and told me that the 90 would include a mini facial. Hell why not, I haven't had a facial in months. But I was worried 90 would be too long. Now that it's over I wished it was longer. I feel relaxed, my muscles don't feel tight, my scalp feels CLEAN, I feel rested like I can take on the day! The facial however was more geared to spa than medical. No extractions peels, just cleansing and feeling pampered. Directions are a little wonky if you're coming from west side but there is awkward street parking. The inside is a little tight with only 3 beds but Kelly mentioned there will be another location opening soon! I'm definitely being my husband and girlfriends here. 10/10 recommend.

I was alone and quite comfortable here.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions after enjoying a service at Moc beauty. I just think that a couple things have to be looked at before you go. One, these prices are rather inexpensive for what you're getting and two, it is in a house, there are other people around so know that and adjust your expectations before you go. I went for the "Scalp and Soul treatment" and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone was friendly, I was give a room alone to change and then given pillows for under my knees. The 90 minutes I got lost in, enjoying the pressure on my head and massage. This isn't a medical spa....its more a relaxing spa. The heated eye mask while my scalp was being massaged allowed me the sense of being alone, the scalp scrub sent tingles down my back and the massage was fantastic.

Have gone to one other head spa, may lily in camas, and enjoyed it. Tried moc beauty for Mother's Day and was greatly disappointed. This could be dependent on your scalp care technician, but i felt like mine was scratching my head very roughly with her sharp nailed the whole time. Felt good initially but after she continued to do it for the second shampooing, my scalp became raw, painful, and irritated by the end. The beds were also very close together, they had us change in the room (with strangers). I was on the bed next to the window, there were curtains, but not enough to block the light. Could also hear people talk and laugh in the front during my appt

A very tight squeeze, uncomfortable table, & lacks privacy.

Service: Scalp & soul treatment: scalp cleanse, facial, & massage Deposit: $25 Total cost: $159 ($179 with tip) Duration: 90 minutes Location: 8116 SE Lafayette St, Portland I booked a scalp and soul treatment for my adult daughter as a way for her to unwind after a long school year (she works at a school). Upon arriving, I was a little skeptical for two reasons: 1. There was an abandoned vehicle in front that had been stripped, windows were knocked out, seats were partially hanging out & ect, so I was slightly concerned about the safety of my vehicle. 2. The location is essentially a house with a sign on the door. Upon trying to enter, it was locked and someone had to open it for me. The staff was very nice, but I was confused because it looked like I had walked into a small hair salon instead of a spa. My daughter was handed a clip board with a dry erase pen to pick an essential oil & to answer a few other questions. I found it odd. I left and sat in my car, then returned 90 minutes later to pay for my daughter's service. I paid the $159 plus a $20 tip because it's a service. When my daughter walked out of the room I could see she was not happy. She wanted to just leave but they told her they would dry her hair. After a few minutes she declined them finishing the drying & wanted to leave. We get to the car & this is what she said: -The worst facial she's ever had. She said they just applied 15 creams on her face including on her eyelids. -The scalp treatment was painful. There was nothing relaxing about it. She said her head was being roughly scratched and her ears were filled with water. -The massage was ok but she said the table was painfully uncomfortable. She said it felt like a slab of wood with a sheet over it. -There is no privacy. She had to change out of her clothes with a thin sheet hanging up between her and the stranger next to her. -She also said it lacks cleanliness & she doubts they have a license to do those services because they were unskilled. In short, it was a waste of $179. The staff was kind, but that's not enough to utilize them again. We will not be returning.

I've been to 3 different scalp spas and this was by far my favorite experience. Amy was so welcoming from the minute I walked in and provided an amazing experience. I did the 90 minute treatment and it was perfect! The experience started with a dry brushing and scalp massage. It continued on to a double wash and double cleanse for my face. There were some other amazing scalp treatments that happened but to be honest, I was too relaxed to remember them. I loved that this experience was a scalp treatment, mini facial, and an arm, leg, shoulder, and back massage. You truly get your moneys worth! My favorite part was how Any used the water halo as a warm water massage while she gave me another scalp treatment. When my session was over, I was offered tea while she blow dried my hair which was a perfect way to end things. I'm so happy instagram let me know this place was so close and I'm so lucky they had a same day appointment. They have 3 beds, so it'd be a fun spot for you and two friends to relax and unwind. I heard a new location is opening soon which is closer to my house, so I'm excited to check that out! I parked on the street which was pretty straightforward.

Of course, that's a little bit of a catch-22 because if I hate your website, then I'm out. Overall, I'm so very glad that I did head to this adorable little place. I'll preface all this with saying that it was the first bikini wax ever - so I can't really say whether it was okay or not... of course, having nothing to compare it to, I'd say that it sucked. :) The leg wax was only the second of it's kind - and that too sucked. The first was only better because it involved copious amounts of wine. Why do we have to go through so much pain to be gorgeous? Well, we must do what we must do... and I will continue to go here while I continue to attempt outer beauty. The building is adorable, comfortable, and inviting and Heidi and Jill are as friendly as can be. I've got a facial all set up, and another waxing scheduled... so glad that I am not going to be shaving anymore. I hate that even more than waxing, and the girls at Bare make waxing about as good as it can be. Just keep thinking, I'm going to look gooooood.

Let's just get this out there: I'm a trans woman and they have been fantastic about it, including transitioning from old name to new (and associated pronouns) without skipping a beat. For that reason alone I'll give them five stars. Since that little demographic update I've gone back a few times and with different people, each one just as considerate as the last. I don't get a really complicated regimen done, but I've loved my brows every time and they have all helped at moving from bushy things to some pretty cool arches. Ripping hair off my chest is pretty standard I guess, it comes out. Additionally, after a pretty disastrous venture at the Sephora tutorial counter (no fault of Sephora staff...) I went to Bare for their makeup lessons. I wish I was better with names because the girl who helped me catch up on about 20 years of makeup practice was really sweet and kind even when dysphoria was kicking its ugly head up. I asked for a really basic, technique (not product) focused lesson and was quite happy with everything we went over.
