I'm not a mochi donut fan although I like mochi in other forms. Mochinut donuts are the only mochi donuts I like and I like them a lot. I've had them in Sacramento and in Vegas. I finally bought some at this location and they did not taste the same. They were very "eggy" to the point that I didn't enjoy them. My go to boba is the ube boba and even that was disappointing. It did not have enough ube in it so it tasted diluted and not in a good way. I hope their products improve with time and experience. read more

Went in for the first time and no signs were posted saying I had to ordered the on the tablet. The employee at the register stared at me and then proceeded to be on their phone. Was on my lunch break so I left. Came back after work to give it another try and they were like out of donuts so ordered the corn dogs. 2 cheese and potato and 2 blue taki. Was very soggy and oily. It takes a while because I believe they make everything fresh, but it's well worth the wait! The donuts weren't too sweet and had the perfect light crispness on the outside with a soft chewiness on the inside. We also tried the coconut jelly and it was very light and refreshing. This place is amazing ! People are completely inconsiderate !!! I work in a kitchen that serves 3 meals a day for around 200+ people. This is a new business that is getting huge amounts of attention all at once it's gonna take some time to get a faster pace going. So, this place is open AGAIN? Wtf? That was a pretty fast health inspection and fast class they had to take for food safety certification purposes. Are they even allowed to be open again yet? Mochinut in Reno was a bit of a letdown for me. I had heard a lot of hype, so I decided to check it out, but the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. First off, I waited in line for over an hour, which was frustrating--especially since there didn't seem to be much urgency in the service. Once I finally got to the counter, I was shocked at how expensive everything was and very disappointed when there were very few flavors available.The donuts are good, but I'm not sure they justify the steep prices. What really caught me off guard was the automatic 15% tip when paying with a card. There was a option to have a custom tip, but having it automatically applied rubbed me the wrong way. That felt unfair--especially considering it's more of a takeout spot than a full-service experience. While the donuts are unique, the combination of high prices, long wait times, and a somewhat forced tip left me feeling like it wasn't worth the hype. As you all know we waited a lonngggg time for the opening and I'll get straight to the point, it was disappointing :( I think maybe when the hype calms down they'll focus more on quality cause the quality was not there. This place is a gimmick. They only offer a fraction of their menu items in the store and are sold out of another 25% so only have about 25% of their menu available to customers. Their self checkout kiosks are a serious delay because you are then stuck at the counter to order and what you wanted is not available so time to choose something you didn't want to only get a mushy deep fried treat thathad been sitting for who knows how long while they make your drinks and other items. Please pack it up and go back to California. read more

Went on a Saturday afternoon. No line with a few customers waiting on their order inside. We ordered 6 donuts, 1 potato cheese "corn dog" 1 potato corn dog & a ramen 1/2 corn 1/3 cheese dog & a mango coconut jelly. The corn dogs were ok- I wish there were more sauces like in the video that plays inside the shop. I thought my daughter would like the cheese corn dog because she loves mozzarella sticks but it came sprinkled with sugar so she didn't like it. The mochi doughnuts were pretty good. The texture was unique & my kids really liked them. I haven't tried the jelly yet it's still in my fridge. 2 things that threw me off- they had no drinking water for sale or for free, after sweets I want water not boba. The lady suggested the bottled green tea but my kids won't drink that so we went a few stores down & bought 3 waters for about $9 from port of subs and I was just thinking how it was a missed opportunity for a sale for them. The last thing that was off putting was as me & my 2kids (6 & 8 year olds) were eating the lady started sweeping because she saw crumbs from us on the ground, as she got close to our table she realized she wouldn't be able to sweep so close without being rude & she stopped. Ok sorry my kids got crumbs on the floor I get it. but don't start sweeping by me while we're eating! The first time I came they gave me the wrong order, I made the mistake of not checking my order while I was there so I just let it go. This last time I went in, I ordered a Takis half n half dog which was incredibly soggy, the batter looked and tasted like it was raw. Buckle up, folks, because this is about to get bumpy! Like many of you, I was very excited to try Mochinut after my friend raved about it from their trips to California. I wasn't expecting anything life changing, but hey, I was game for the novelty! My friend had already braved the grand opening, only to freeze in line for an hour before throwing in the towel. Fast forward to Wednesday, and we thought, "Hey, let's give Mochinut another try." We rolled in around 5:30 PM and joined a line of 20 hopefuls. Given the chaos of the grand opening, we were fine with a little wait. But oh boy, it was a slow crawl! In half an hour, only three groups made it inside. At 6:00 PM, the owner popped out to break the news: they were shutting down at 6:30 instead of 8 PM because people were ordering enough donuts and corndogs to feed a small army! With disappointment but no hard feelings, we left the line at 6:15 PM. Later that night, I checked their social media only to find no mention of the early closing, which was a little suspicious. So, my curiosity kicked in, and I began researching Mochinut Reno. After some digging, it's clear that the person running this location is new to the food biz. Delays in opening? Check. Overhyped on Instagram? Check. A free donut promo on day one? Check! With Mochinut's popularity in California and Vegas, you'd think they'd be ready for the crowd. Spoiler alert: they were not! But we remained optimistic and decided to give it a go again on Friday. After an hour in line, we finally peered inside the restaurant, which aside from the customers looked rather empty--just a counter, two tables, and four tablets for ordering. We also spotted a note on the door about a 15-person limit, but there were consistently more than that crowding the space. After another hour of waiting, we finally got our chance to step inside, only to be told there were 40 orders ahead of us and that we needed to wait outside. Seriously? We felt that the 40 orders was a bit of an exaggeration but it's okay because we're almost there, right? Wrong. Every time a group left; we would try to enter only to be told no. When there were around 7 people in the store, I was finally allowed in but my friend was told to wait outside. Which we found odd because there were less then 15 people in the store and we'd seen large groups enter the store for over 2 hours. So why was a party of 2 now an issue? Ordering is extremely confusing if you've never been to a Mochinut. There are four tablets scattered around the store. The two tablets that are located by the entrance are only for the coconut jelly. Something I didn't even know that they sold at Mochinut. And the other two tablets in the back are for the rest of the menu. There aren't any signs to let customers know which tablet is for which item. So instead, you have to rely on other customers to tell you. There's also no limit on how much you're allowed to order. Which is why Mochinut Reno is getting swamped with massive orders. This problem can easily be fixed, especially considering that you have to use a cellphone number when you order, by adding a setting that allows only one order per phone number for X amount of time. Or crazy idea they could have someone on the register. When I finally got to order, I got a cheese corndog, six donuts, and a brown sugar boba. The food? Meh. The donuts have a texture that is love-it-or-hate-it, and at $4 each, they were a bit steep for just okay. The corndog? Good, but honestly, just swing by Sonic for a cheaper version. And the brown sugar boba? We were so excited to finally get our food that we didn't realize we just paid $7 for glorified sugary milk--no boba in sight! I could overlook most of these hiccups if it weren't for the hygiene issues behind the counter. As someone who's worked in food, I noticed employees checking their phones, handling food, and--wait for it--wiping their noses without changing gloves. Yikes! Plus, there were open drinks just chilling behind the counter, and my donut box was dirty on the bottom. I get it; running a business is tough, but food safety is no joke! Dough boys would never send me home with a dirty box, so why is Mochinut getting a pass? In conclusion, Mochinut Reno has all the necessary elements for a thriving business. However, the lack of management experience is clearly impacting this location's success. The grand opening and the accompanying reviews will be hard to bounce back from. Hopefully this location will figure what works for them soon! In the mean time I would recommend driving to Roseville if you'd like to try Mochinut. read more

Not sure if this place will ever recover or build back after all.of the public shaming and crisis with health dept. Used to have 100 or more in a line out the door, and. Ow it's a ghost town as people are truly afraid to eat there. Feel bad for all involved. I went and it was mediocre at best. The negative reviews on here were in regard to the wait time. They seem understaff but that doesn't warrant a 2 star when it is a brand new business. Give them a break to straighten out the kinks. My review is for the food itself. Yes, I had to wait about 15-20 mins on football Sunday. They were out of mochi donuts but they were able to accommodate me for the "sold out" items. I had the elote corn dog which was tasty with a zesty lime flavor. I also tried the mango coconut pudding which was flavorful too. Over hyped and under delivered. $10 for 3 donuts is insane (they don't let you order more than 3 because of a "donut shortage"). Add to that the fact that there are a total of 4 chairs for everyone crowded in, the cashier doesn't take your order, he just awkwardly stares at you while you make selections on a touch screen, the machine makes it difficult to select anything less that 15% tip, and it's really not worth it. But then the donuts were small, mediocre in taste, and were served cold (despite a 10 minute wait from when I ordered) and it's downright disappointing. You're better off going to and of the half dozen stores or donut shops in the area. Even the supermarkets are equally good and far cheaper with better service. read more

This was the worst experience I've had so far in all of Reno. Waited 2 hours in line only to get inside and find out they are out of all Corn Dogs. No one ever came out to notify the people waiting in line. There were two teenagers working, they don't even take orders everything is done by kiosk, they were fighting with each other and not answering any guest's questions or helping any guests at all. Then the Manager appears because he was getting more corn dog supply and says "it's not even worth it" to keep selling them. Not all flavors of boba were available either and we waited over 30 mins just to get a boba. Only 4 groups are allowed in at a time and the manager wasn't letting any more groups in as well. This place was so disappointing, the Manager has zero customer service skills, and the workers need some training. read more
