    Blackened Fish & Grits

First time in for a really long time was for a birthday dinner and the food was really fantastic. At the table we had the fish & grits, smoked duck breast, and meatloaf and 2 of us had some nice wine by the glass. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, and the meatloaf plate was devoured without me getting a bite so I know it was really good. Service was on point. I think price wise, they are what you anticipate for from scratch, locally sourced food thoughtfully prepared. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've decided the reason I don't think of them more often for a nice dinner is the ambience, or I should say, the lack thereof. The place is not cozy or comfortable - bright lights, hard seating, and little decor makes me feel like it's a super casual dining restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I don't "feel treated" like I do sitting at some of the other local places with food on par with Mockingbird.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I maybe don't mind it as much for brunch, but if you drop $50 for a special Benedict & cocktail - I still want to "feel" it was a more special meal than a local hash spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe I'm fussy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But I think the only reason I don't put Mockingbird on par with Vetro 1925 or Isabella's for a nice dinner is that it doesn't feel special.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Excited to enjoy some great food! A local spot here in Fayetteville and super consistent on their fabulous service as well as culinary expertise. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We love to bring out of town family here while visiting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bonus, this shopping center has now grown with some phenomenal local shops! Visit Uncle Sam's outfitters or shops at brick city before or after a wonderful meal!

So this is a decent small restaurant in a mini mall that you wouldn't expect to have good food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was packed for a weekday lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was quick, friendly, but they left you alone if you wanted to be left alone. The meatloaf fell apart and had an unexpected spice in the sauce. This isn't grandma's standard brown sauce. And the chips on top were a bit of an overkill, and some vegetable would have helped round out this dish. I appreciate they didn't go crazy on the serving size, however it was pricey.

A real surprise in a college town of fast food. Remarkable Eggs Benedict - large portions enough to share! Love this place!

Really neat little place. Food was very good, I had the trout off of their specials menu. Nice wine list that won't break the bank.

A well established hangout for Hog Fans especially on game day and you may even run into some Razorbacks legends while you are there. Pros: Consistent, quality food at a reasonable price. Great menu selection from crepes to steaks and everything in between. Cons: Hugo's is a basement restaurant location. This means seating is limited and the wait can be long. The stairs leading down to the restaurant can be hard to navigate if you are physically impaired, and depending on the day or time of the it can get quite noisy. If stairs, togetherness and nosiy spaces are not your thing, then this isn't the establishment for you. Overall, you can't go wrong with the food or hospitality, and if you're a Razorback fan, student, or alumni of the University of Arkansas dining here is a right of passage. Highly recommended Hugo's... come be a part of a Fayetteville tradition!

The place is always busy so prepare for a 30-40 minute wait as we went on a Monday during the summer break and they were still busy around 7pm. The place has been around since 1917??? so everyone wants to try an ole' original while in town. It is in the basement so low ceilings and it is fairly noisy but the place is worth it as it is all part of the nostalgia. Their desserts are worth saving room for. The apple pie and mint ice cream are my favs!!
