The only reason I'm taking a star off is because the service was kind of slow because they were packed (we went on a Sunday for brunch). But our waitress was super helpful--I'm a picky orderer and she answered like 8 questions for me--and she talked me into some really good stuff. What a nice dinner! We arrived around 6pm on a Tuesday which happened to coincide with Tini Tuesday ($5 martini). I ordered the lavender infused martini and my boyfriend ordered one of the standard ones. Nothing extravagant or particularly amazing regarding size but they were tasty. We ordered the meatball appetizer (4 meatballs with sauce and bread, sticks?). It was enough for a meal, and while the meatballs and sauce were amazing, the bread was a bit soggy. For dinner I had the fish and grits (blackened with 4 shrimp) and oh, my! My boyfriend swears they were the best grits. The tomato based sauce was delicious and the blackened fish and shrimp were perfect...kinda too perfect because I couldn't stop eating and you practically had to roll me away from the table. Boyfriend had meatloaf, which wasn't killer, but definitely likable. He requested extra ketchup, which was made in-house and quite good, even to a non ketchup fan. Parsnips on top were pretty and tasty, and the gravy was excellent. Good portions! Clean environment with minimal decorations. Simple and focused. Waitresses were alright, hostess seated us as soon as we walked in. Entire bill was about $75 after tip...quite a nice evening! Thank you for a great meal! read more

After waiting for my reservation day to approach, and reading 5star reviews I came into dinner with high expectations and The Kitchen did not disappoint. From the moment you are seated you are felt very welcomed and catered too. Each course was well executed and you can oversee the production if you get a counter seat as the wife and I had. Drinks and food were whatever you could imagine. The food was a fixed menu, but you could adjust to whatever you wanted. This place is a must for everyone to experience, and I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

Enjoyed my birthday with my daughter and her family ! My grandson , who is very picky, got the kids meatball pasta dish and devoured it! My daughter had the turkey sandwich and my son-in-law had the meatloaf. All were very tasty and excellent presentation. It wasn't crowded so we got in immediately, waitstaff was good. We picked up curbside tonight. Everything was delicious, as always. The shrimp cakes were moist and flavorful, with a yummy remoulade sauce. I added the Kale Caesar salad. Couldn't have been better! By appearance, Mockingbird sits in an older strip mall. Don't let this stop you from visiting Mockingbird for a nice meal. The brunch was amazing and I would give it a 10 out of 10 if possible. Both times I have gone one dish is pretty good and the other is pretty lame, so it's always very hit or miss. What a pleasant surprise. Visited Fayetteville to see our son, looked for a good dinner spot, and lucked into this spot. Everything was spot on- food and beverage, service that was both friendly and professional, and excellent overall value. The it's-a-small-world kicker was that the chef had done an externship a few years back with one of my favorite Albany, NY chefs when she was a student at the Culinary Institute of America. I can't say that Chef Chrissy Sanderson tops my old buddy Ric Orlando, but her take on ropa vieja was utterly awesome. We enjoyed this place so much we went back a second time. The catfish and the meat loaf were pretty amazing too, not to mention the home-made ice cream. Make it a point to stop here any time you are in Fayetteville. read more

This place is amazing. Great gluten free options. Would be awesome if there were more GF and dairy free options as well. The atmosphere is stellar, great lighting, calm and inviting colors. The integrity of management and chef are the best in Fayetteville. I would love some light jazz to add to this big city menu, even if just on the weekends, even if just over speakers. Great food choices, great wine choices, some of the best cocktails in Fayetteville too! I know it's hard to compare to Maxine's cocktails but Mockingbird Kitchen does a commendable job. I would love to see some dry ciders offer more in the Fayetteville community. And Vermouth flights or cocktails. I gained quite the appreciation for dry or sour ciders and Vermouth during my travels in France and Spain. Wow. Drove up from Dallas for college tour for my 17 yr old daughter and found this wonderful place. All the family had great food and my special of the day a sausage pasta was amazing We have just moved from LA after 19 years and trust me we know food. This place is great. I've been to MK several times and not been disappointed yet. I would recommend the Hot Chicken Sandwich or the Turkey Sandwich. The wait staff was super sweet and enthusiastic. It seems like they love their jobs which is always a nice feeling to get. Really great addition to NWA. read more

Our server was friendly and seemed to know the menu well, food was flavorful, and their lemonade is really good (you can also add freshly pureed strawberry to it). This is the most salty meal that I have ever had. We ordered fish and grits, Ropa Vieja, and a snack buffalo cauliflower. The snack is fine- not surprisingly good but it is ok. However, the main dishes are both super salty, and the salty covered any other flavor of food. I drunk a bottle of water after dinner. CALLING ALL VEGANS - OR THOSE WHO THINK THEY'D LIKE TO BE: Sautéed Greens which are prepared in a vegetable stock, as well as the Three Bean Salad (kidney beans, black-eyed peas, and edamame melded with a red pepper vinegrette) make great sides. I decided on the Stir Fried Farro and Vegetables. Farro, a nutty wheat-grain derivative, is paired with carrots, edamame, kale, mushrooms and tofu in a savory soy sauce. It's a filling bowl of goodness, so filling that I easily had enough for take home. My remaining portion was placed in a reinforced cardboard container rather than Styrofoam - yeah! (Vegans notice these things.) My dining companion chose the Veggie Burger. This is a patty of pureed vegetables, quinoa, and oats, stacked high with tomato slices and a vegan focaccia bun. It's a mighty mouthful which threatens to unhinge your jaw, but one does has the option of eating this creation open faced. And even the mayo is edamame-based - how refreshing that she didn't need to say "hold the mayo". read more

The food is delicious, varied, and presented well, the atmosphere is good, and though the prices are a bit too high for it to be a regular stop for me, the food is well worth the money. Had lunch today at mockingbird. When I went into this restaurant is notice the atmosphere and decor was fantastic. We were seated quickly and Taylor was our server and she was fantastic. Very friendly, attentive and great menu selections. I got the roast beef, pear and blue cheese sandwich with macaroni and cheese. The sandwich was wonderful, the beef was very tasty and filling. It was on an onion roll that was great, the gravy that was with the sandwich was beauitfully made. The macaroni was ok. I took home an order of the beef dish in a tomato sauce and capers on grits, it was really great! The grits were awesome and the beef very favorful. Pretty good place here even though it's tucked away and a little hard to find. I went in for lunch and had the "hot chicken" sandwich. The sandwich comes with a creamy remoulade with a spicy kick to it and some interesting pickles to put on it that also carry a nice zesty kick for more depth and flavor to the sandwich. I really liked how the sandwich components worked together. The chicken was moist, and nicely breaded and in each bite, I could taste everything in the sandwich. If there was a tiny "oops" it was the chicken was broken into small pieces leaving me having to constantly keep them from falling out of the sandwich onto my plate. It comes with a side and I got mac n' cheese. It's definitely not for carb counters and afterward, I paid dearly for it at the gym and on the scale. Our server did a terrific job and she really made our lunch that much better. I appreciated that this place is offering a more complex menu and giving the customers a better product rather than most NWA places serving greasy, fast, food to the masses. read more
