Hello Everyone: This review is for the Mod Pizza in Cave Creek. This was my first time at a Mod Pizza. Cleanliness: The restaurant was clean including the floor and all tables. Ingredients: You indicate the ingredients you want on your pizza by going down a buffet line of toppings. The price of the pizza includes the toppings of your choice. This is a nice concept. I only wished there was a list of toppings for you to view other than the small list of toppings in small print in white lettering on the right-side of the counter on top of the glass. It is hard to read and as you walk down the line to indicate what you want, the topping list is out of sight. This is the reason I rated a four stars. This being my first time at a Mod Pizza I would have enjoyed more information. You can go to their website and view the list of ingredient options to be better prepared if this is your first time as well. After indicating what you want on your pizza, it goes into the oven and you continue walking to pay for your order where there are soft drink, juice and alcohol options as well. There is an app for your phone and you can order on-line and/or do a take out or save time if needed. The Pizzas: I included photos of the two pieces my husband and I ordered. I felt the crust was nicely done. This is a crispy type of crust (not chewy or pull apart). There had been some Yelp complaints about the crust being cracker-like, but this was not our experience. You run the risk of having ingredients not cooked through if you order too many of them, since the crust can only withstand so much weight, and also, so much time in the oven. Therefore, I feel it is best to order your favorite toppings rather than get carried away having some of everything being put on your pizza trying to get your money's worth. Had we done this, it would not have been as enjoyable of an experience. The flavor of the toppings was nice. I would say the toppings lacked some depth of flavor, I expected a little more oregano flavor, a little more peppery flavor, the pepperoni to be a little spicier, something seemed to be missing from the sauce to create a little depth of flavor or layering of flavor. Now that I know, I will ask if there is dry oregano they can add to the pizza next time - I did see a few trays of dried spices, but they were not labeled and I did not know if they were for the pizzas or for the salads. There is not salt or pepper on the tables or at the utensil station to add to the pizza for extra flavor, but you can ask for red pepper flakes at the counter. Staff: Staff were very pleasant. Overall Impression: All in all it was a pleasant experience and we both agreed we would return to this location now that we know how the system works. Next time: I will look at their toppings on the app before we go and walk in with my "list" of toppings to read off so I don't miss anything I think would add to the experience. I would probably bring a salt/pepper packet from home to add to the pizza and enjoy - unless those are on the buffet line of toppings somewhere! read more

I haven't been to a Mod Pizza in years, so this was a change for sure. I arrived around 9:30 pm and I found the restaurant to be surprisingly busy. There was a group ahead of me and a few team members making pizzas and preparing the restaurant to close. I ordered the customized Mod pizza. It was much thinner than I remembered it being (granted, this was probably 10+ years ago). I asked the guy making my pizza to add extra mozzarella and I don't think he did, but shame on me for not repeating myself. I liked that I was able to get hot honey as a drizzle with no extra charge, as hot honey is all the rave right now, but almost always comes with an extra fee. This was a good experience overall and I would definitely return next time I'm up by Cave Creek. read more

MOD pizza is located in the Cave Creek Crossings shopping plaza. I had a taste for pizza. We were driving right by OD and make a quick turn into the driveway. There were 6 employees behind the counter. We had a make your own pizza. As our toppings we chose red sauce, 2 cheeses, sweet peppers, spinach, basil, garlic, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and oregano. Service is super quick. The pizza was thin and good. Ingredients were fresh. The pizza was cooked perfectly. Shared parking in the lot. WiFi in the business. When MOD first opened it was a weekly lunchtime treat for everyone at work. When my career changed and my diet, I took a long break from MOD, and Pizza.... Recently tried this location and with the options of Cauliflower base, non-dairy cheese, after a very long time, I'm once again enjoying pizza and garlic bread again. If you haven't tried MOD, MOD is a fast personal pizza place that customizes your pizza your way... or has a large number of named selections to make it easier. All your favourite toppings and some rather awesome toppings that sets MOD aside from the boring old same playdough type pizzas of old. Best thing is as many toppings as you want, is all the same price. Favourite toppings, rosemary, whole real garlic cloves, basil, minced garlic, several different pepper options from bell, peppercini, jalapeño and red. Spicy sausage, chicken, onions and olives. Garlic bread, for me we customise with Cauliflower bread, whole real garlic olive oil and rosemary... yum. This location is fast, clean, well stocked and has friendly and attentive staff. read more

Been attending MOD Pizza since it was a single location in downtown Bellevue, Washington. This location started out fine a few years ago, but in the last couple years, it's just been horrible. No quality standards. I'm not even sure they've been taught how how long to cook a pizza as the last two times the entire family's pizza was burnt. Used to be a go to spot. Sad! read more

One word! MOD-Mazing :) I've been coming to MOD pizza for years and every single time it hits my taste buds in a way that should be against the law. I top my pizza with as many protein packed toppings as possible. Chicken, chicken sausage, Canadian bacon, pepperoni.... Dang I'm getting so sauced up over here that I need to take a minute to calm down. .. ... ... In all seriousness, this has to be one of the if not the best customizable pizza place out. What is it with this place and cheese? The snotty server acted as though I was going to bankrupt the company if he put a reasonable amount of mozzarella on my pizza. He put a laughably small amount on and said that it was "against policy" to add more. Really? Is it "against policy" to put the same amount of cheese as all of your competitors do? We had never been to a MOD pizza so we decided to try the one that had just opened nearby. We didn't know what to expect so we opted to order two of their standard pizzas. I had their special pizza, the Viviana. My wife had the Mad Dog. Both pizzas were really good. We were impressed with the crisp crust as well as the amount of toppings on each. We decided to sit outside and the tables are really close to Carefree Highway. So there was a substantial amount of noise. I don't know why people are doing a low rating. This is an excellent place. I love the thin crust and YOU get to choose your toppings, as many as you like. They are fast and efficient. This beats the regular pizza places by a mile. I use the app to order and then pick up usually, but also for in person occasionally. All in all, excellent! read more

If you want to eat ROTTEN salad, this is the place. They hid the black, decomposing pieces towards the bottom. Then they told us when we called about our order that they are already aware of this. Yet they still serve it, thinking we wouldnt catch on to them. Health dept complaint is next from me. read more

Horrible service, 2nd time I tried to use their APP. Show up in store order still not made, then told the promise time hasn't expired yet.... Please stand by. Keep in mind I ordered it on their APP 15 minutes ( they advertise a fast pizza). Wait for it... mean time staff is shooting the bull, moving at a snails pace. Then six people walk in..... they take their order and start making their order in advance of mine. I asked to please cancel my order, staff had to go find someone to cancel my order because it was placed online via the APP... money still didn't revert to my card. Too many teenage boys standing around gossiping amongst themselves rather than cleaning the filthy place. The cleanliness is seriously lacking here. I do like their Marion Berry lemonade, the pizza is just alright but it does come out fast. After coming here a few times I finally realized that the difference between Mod & Mega isn't the size, if you want a thicker pizza crust get the Mega. I do hope they can make the necessary improvements around here so we can come back here on occasion without being grossed out. Extremely shocked at the horrible service I received last night when I went to get a pizza after work. From someone who used to work at this location years back, it's unfortunate how much this location has declined. I was baffled when I tried to order and the girl on the line very rudely said "it's gonna be a second" and barely acknowledged my presence. As a former employee, I totally understand the stress of needing to complete online orders but it was empty in the restaurant and in no way should receive a rude tone. Then a fellow employee walked up to the line and asked if she could go home. I was shocked when the girl was doing online orders by herself when the rest of the staff was talking in the back and leaving her to handle the floor. I love mod pizza and the ability to create your own pizzas especially with a dairy allergy, but I cannot believe the service and ambiance that was extremely dismissive and made me feel as if it was my bad to come into the restaurant. Cool Concept but Disappointing When we are inside, pizzas get made just how you like it. That's just not the case when you order online for pick-up. I guess the definition of extra cheesy all the way to the crust means practically no cheese on 60% of the pizza. I probably will go back to just ordering from Papa Johns. Very rude staff on 9/30 as we waited in line after being greeted, but the staff was focused as a priority on the incoming web orders - not 2 customers waiting patiently in person in line. After 15 minutes we gave feedback very professionally and just walked out without placing an order. Recommend to management the importance of live in person customers. Meh. The service at this place was fantastic, so this review is based solely on the quality of food. We LOVE Blaze pizza and this place is close to our house so we have it a try. I actually feel like the big issue is the crust. It's just not good. My husband got the thicker crust, and I got the thin. Both just have zero flavor. They are a strange bleached white color, so I thought it wasn't cooked at first. But I think they need an olive oil or garlic brush overtop. They do stuff the toppings on like crazy and they are fresh, which I totally appreciate. But the crust is a total miss for me. This place was very so-so to me. I would eat it if it were the only option, but I definitely would drive farther for Blaze or another competitor. Sorry guys-I wanted to love it :( read more

I will never give this business another dime. It was 9:42 pm. I pulled in front of the restaurant and parked to go in and order in a curbside pick up spot. The girl at the counter said to me when I walked up to the dead empty restaurant - I'd love to help you but you parked in one of our curbside pick up spots. I'm going to need to have you move your car. I said really it's almost 10:00 no one is out there. She said yes. I'm sorry. I again said really. That's ridiculous. She and another two employees said yes we can't help you until you move your car. We have online orders. Then they all started saying good night ma'am and waved at me. Whoever owns this restaurant needs to get these employees in line. No real loss for us not eating here. We've had one good pizza order since it opened. Mod has something for everyone and at a perfect price point. There are many different crust and topping options to choose from. We have a few picky-pots on our squad and Mod offers gluten free, dairy free, etc. But if you ask me what is the best, I will recommend starting with mega dough, garlic rub instead of sauce, spicy chicken sausage, onion, bacon, mozzarella, and finish it with red sauce dollops. And if you want to kick it up, ask for a side of sirancha to dip your crust in. Honestly, if you have a mediocre experience at Mod, YOU have done a poor job building your own pizza. Love Mod - but this one lacks service. We placed and order when we were in north cave creek (in front of Harold's). When we arrived the workers are standing around talking and when we asked about our order they had not even started making the pizzas yet. They are on their phones and joking around, while we had to wait another 10+ min for pizzas we mobile ordered. Unfortunately not the first time for this at this location. Glad to see this place is open. we live in the neighborhood and had been patiently waiting for its opening. very friendly people. very clean. small outdoor seating, about 5 tables. the line was very long but I guess that is to be expected for the 1st week open. while speaking to a few people in line everyone seemed excited that they were open. my husband and I each got an individual build your own pizza. good price and good taste. we did the original crust which is very thin, sort of cracker like thin. next time we will try the double crust. We will definitely be back and make this one of our weekend quick pick up spots. read more

My brother-in-law wanted hamburger pizza and the only pizza place in my area that had it was Mod They seem to have a standard pizza and add toppings that roll off the pizza when you open the box. The hamburger tasted like it had been cooked and then frozen. The service wasn't bad and the small cakes they have are very good. My recommendation is go to Trader Joe's get their pizza dough and make your own would be better than Mod. read more

We've been eyeing this pizza spot for the last several months, with their opening apparently delayed by COVID-19, so now that they are finally open, we gave them a shot tonight. The place was busy but not too busy, as we got there pretty early for a Friday night--maybe about 4:45 p.m. The place was clean, and the employees were friendly enough. They offer curbside takeout, and they have an app for that, which I have yet to try, but we decided to eat there. Got through the line in a reasonable amount of time. We had our eye on a table out on the patio when we walked in because it was a nice evening, but the patio filled up by the time we were ready to sit down, so we sat inside. Plenty of seating, and everything looked clean. Like many of the fast-casual pizza joints, you go through the line, pick out your own ingredients, and it's all one price. They have 6" and 11" pizzas, plus an 11" with a double crust and a gluten-free option. They have suggested combos you can choose from, or you can just go crazy making your own combination. Our pizzas were ready really fast, so it seems like the process is pretty efficient once the pizzas reach the oven. When we got ours, they looked really good. I might have liked mine cooked a minute longer maybe, but they were fine. Taste-wise, everything was just good. I wasn't bowled over, but the ingredients seemed fresh enough, and the taste was about what I expected for fast-casual pizza. Though I had asked for sweet red peppers, the ones I received on my pie tasted marinated with a bit of a kick, so I'm thinking they may have put the spicy ones on by mistake, but I don't know for sure. The best thing, I think, was the crust. Thin with just enough chew; not quite a cracker crust but close. Though I've had better crust at fancier places, this was actually better than I thought we would get here. We enjoyed our experience enough that we plan to return to try other toppings and see if things go well. It certainly won't replace our favorite regular pizza spots, but right now it's an option when we want fast-casual. read more

Don't even bother spending your money here! You'd think after a violation on food handling there would be a change.. NOPE. Huge red flag tonight, I watched the pizza baker pull my pizza out of the oven, place it into the box, and use her BARE HANDS to adjust how the pizza fit in the box. Her response to my comment on putting a pair of gloves was, "my hands are clean". Sorry but you can't tell me that after handling a peel your hands are clean?! read more

The pizza is good if they don't mess it up. Chances are, they will. If you order online, they mess it up. If you go in the store they actually give you the wrong pizza. I think next time I'll bring treats for the kiddies that are running this place and maybe get better results. Seriously, hire some adults. read more
