I was recently passing through Chico and noticed they have a MOD pizza here. Out of all the fast pizza chains, MOD is the best in my book. Sure all have unlimited toppings and cost about $8-9 bucks, but MOD has the best tasting crust. The others just taste like a cheaper crust, like you know, Little Caesar's? I go through the line picking toppings at random, so I never have the same pizza twice. They're a little skimpy at first with the toppings, but just tell'em more of whatever, please, and they do it. I like I have the choice of pesto as a sauce and the roasted garlic cloves I love. There are a few improvements I'd suggest. One suggestion that I had, they seemed to follow up on and that was to cut the pizzas into 6 slices instead of just 4. Now all MODs cut pizzas into 6 slices ... it's way easier to fit in you mouth that way. I guess 4 was just faster and took less geometry on the part of the cutter. But another suggestion still needs to be done, and that is when they take you order at the front of the line, they use a black inked marking pen to write your name and other info for the pizza, right on the paper that your pizza goes on! I don't want black ink on my pizza, thank you! I ordered extra crispy and that was written on the paper and when I got my pizza, my pizza lay right over that ink! Easy, people, just keep the writing and ink on the EDGES of the paper where the pizza won't touch! Still, I'll still come here as the pizza is really good and a killer deal. read more

It was only after we discussed what pizza I was waiting for did the employee focus on my order, but to his credit he did notice that I had been standing in front of him for quite some time. I was not offered the No Name Cake that I paid for, or any of the condiments or utensils that I asked for on the app. My pizza's toppings were poorly distributed. I had two, maybe three, small pieces of basil on the entire pie. One entire quarter of my pizza was blackened, burned. The salad was more acceptable if not still sloppily made, and I appreciated the two dressing cups inside (but no croutons.) I used to frequent Mod and was pretty consistently impressed by the speed, service, and quality of the food. I hadn't been in at least two years before yesterday. Unfortunately, with my visit, the service was mediocre at best. My pizza was really solid and came out very quickly! On the other hand, the "mini" salad we ordered was really, really overpriced (not the fault of the individual business as much as a corporate issue imo). There was also poorly chopped lettuce with an inedible butt-end in the salad-- for $8, more care should be placed in the prep by employees/cooks. I have loved mod pizza for some time, enjoyed the different locations through the nation (favorite was Colorado Springs, Co) and even had a friend run the location in Redding, but Chico's local Mod is lower quality. I've seen this location be not as clean, friendly or professional. There are some employees at this location that are wonderful, so it's a shame that the rest of the team over shadows the good. The last time I went will the last as I seen them not only have terrible attitudes but give zero effort in making a presentable pizza and salad. If their employees rather be miserable and not care because that there is a line waiting, then they should find another line of work. I love round table when craving pepperoni and thick crust however once I started traveling to Italy 10 years ago my taste changed and I love a good thin crust authentic pizza.
