We went to MOD Pizza after doing the escape room. First off when we walked in the feel of the air-conditioning was amazing! The service was nice. The lady that worked there was sweet. We ordered a couple pizzas and soda and they came very quickly. The bad news is that it wasn't even busy and all the tables were dirty so I think it would've been a good time for them to clean the tables. Maybe they had a lunch rush when we went to get a box 2 of the employees were so busy talking way to stand there quite a while to get a box to put the rest of our pizza in, but the very first person who made our pizza was wonderful. It was two other people that were just talking too much to each other, but still, I would recommended. The pizza crust was so good. It was nice and thin and crackled. I do not like & would not recommend this pizza. I can't explain what it is that's so off putting to me, but it's usually kind of gross. Perhaps a sauce issue, the crust is always fine. I do however, LOVE the incredibly kind staff who handles this location. I have returned to this location any times just because of, and only because of, how kind staff members Cameryn (who I know has since moved to another location) & Jasmine have been. I haven't been to a MOD pizza in many years. So this is as if it is my first tome coming here. So the way it works, the menu is at front as you walk in. You can choose one of their specialty pizzas or you can create your own. I love that concept (love the options). I went with the Dillon James and Calexico. Basically on a thin crust with real toppings you can add or subtract to it. I chose Dillon James because the toppings were garlic, basil, Mozzarella, asiago, and tomatoes. It came out so good. My friend had the Calexico which had mozarella, gorgonzola, chicken, jalapeño, and spicy buffalo (that one was too spicy for me). There was only one guy we saw in the whole store and i did not get his name. But he was polite and he moved quickly. The place looks very modern and it was clean. I love all the pizza box art. Only one employee helping customers, making pizzas at the food station... during lunch time... with a line of customers waiting. Another worker was "busy" just making boxes (adding to a large stack already there in plain sight), and one more hiding in the back doing who knows what. Really, MOD?!?! A 2nd worker finally showed up to help make orders after we had already waited almost 15 minutes in line watching the first employee take her sweet time putting a pizza together ever so slowly for customers ahead of us... Thank goodness the wait for our food to be ready was not as long. We got the Italiano pocket pie, Tristan pizza on cauliflower crust, and two more customized pizzas on regular crusts for our group. The toppings were tasty enough (combination of pepperoni, mushrooms, artichokes, and more), but they overdid the arugula in the pocket pie and it was overpowering, so I had to take some out. The crusts were subpar, somewhat tasteless. But the food was edible, so it was fine. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating inside, and easy parking available in the plaza parking lot. MOD pizza is one of the only restaurants open after 9pm in the Veranda area. So that's a plus. On a weekend around 9:30pm we had trouble finding a quick bite. MOD had a couple other customers. The pizzas came out fairly quickly. I stood for about five minutes before finally being acknowledged by the girl working the assembly line and asked "do you want to order a pizza". The bathroom was completely out of toilet paper in all the stalls. Another guy wanted beer but unfortunately I guess the workers that night were all under 21 so they couldn't serve him. Good for you girl for standing up and saying you can't and he can't serve himself. The food itself was fine. A large pizza isn't that large. It was enough for two people to share. The price wasn't bad. I think it came out to around $20 for a pizza, large fountain drink, and the no name cake. For a quick bite to get in and out it was acceptable. The MOD Pizza at The Veranda is top-notch! The place was spotless, and Chris -- who helped us -- was absolutely awesome. Super friendly, didn't skimp on my pesto, and went above and beyond with service. When my wife asked for gluten-free, he even offered to change his gloves without her asking (we didn't need him to change his gloves but it was cool he thought if that). That's solid service. I think the Cheesy Garlic Bread is the best thing to order. The curst and the seasoning are fantastic. My daughter orders the Mini Maddy. I have had their Mega Cesar. You can half it and take the rest home for lunch the next day. My son likes the Dylan James pizza. The one my husband I like the most is the Mad Dog pizza. It has sausage, peperoni and cheese. I would add mushrooms but my husband isn't a mushroom fan. There was a thing I got that I would not recommend. The Italiano Pocket Pie. I would describe it as wet. It was from the fresh tomato but it was not great nor easy to eat. It can get busy so keep an eye on your order as they come out. We have had a few items over looked a few times. Yet sometimes they weren't busy and were super slow. So its inconsistent. However, while inconstant, the service is very nice and quick to make corrections. MOD is a great place to take kids. The Jasper should only have Red sauce, mozzarella, spicy chicken sausage, mushrooms. 1st bite into my pizza was fishy, the person making the pizza weren't changing gloves in between pizzas and was working on anchovy pizza before and after mines. This is my first time trying MOD Pizza. I came in around 6pm on a Friday, and as it's right before Christmas, the entire Veranda shopping center is bustling. The parking lot where MOD is located is medium sized, though I never try parking here as it's a prime spot for all the restaurants, so it's usually impossible. There were quite a few people in line and 20 minutes have passed before I got to the front. You have the choice of creating your own pizza with your choice of sauce, toppings, cheese, and even gluten-free or cauliflower crust. If you don't want to create your own, they also have their signature pizzas on the menu. I ordered 1 MOD sized pizza and a 24 oz soda, the cashier asked if I wanted to make it a combo, which I saw was a $10.99 special. I didn't do the math of how much I would save by making it a combo, but I went with it anyway. Dining: If you plan to dine in, the cashier will ask to see your vaccine card. The restaurant is mostly bar stools and tables with a few regular seating against the window. At this time, there was a dinner rush, so the garbage piled up with cardboard boxes and the garbage cans inside the restaurant aren't very equipped to fit all those boxes. All the staff is occupied taking or making orders, so there wasn't anyone available to wipe down tables after each use. Food: The pizzas are all thin crust (which I'm not a fan of) but they were very cheesy (which I am a fan of). They offer their signature salads on the menu, and you can create your own as well. Staff: Didn't have any major problems during my visit. The staff were very nice and had good energy. Tonight we had our order given away to a doordasher. It took them several minutes to realize what had happened. So now we wait for the remakes. After being in the store for 30 minutes we get our food and go. When I get home and start to eat, I pull a long brown hair out of my mouth. Long-time MOD customer, since they opened the first Bay Area store in San Jose. I travel for work throughout Northern California, I've eaten no less than 40 times at 12+ locations over 4 years. My go-to order starts with a Dillon James, adding 7-8 more toppings. Stopped at the location for the first time. Ordered my usual but from the first bite I knew something was off. I can normally polish off a whole Mod size if I'm hungry. I stopped 1 bite into the 2nd slice. Stunned. We observed the staff for a few minutes and saw questionable food handling practices - using a rag to clean with a gloved hand, then using the same gloved hand to grab food out of bins to put on orders. Management here (on a Saturday night) had what I've come to observe is the typical MOD chip-on-my-shoulder attitude, as if making our food was a hassle. I KNOW what good MOD food and service are like... The food quality here will cause me to pass up this location. The attitude didn't help. read more

Out of all of the fast casual pizza chains, MOD is by far my favorite. I first tried MOD a few years ago during a trip to Portland and instantly fell in love with the concept. I love the fact that you can make your pizza from scratch and choose your toppings cafeteria style. I also love that the pizzas are personal pan size and that you can watch them back in their wood fired oven. There weren't too many pizza places like this where I live back in the day. Fast forward to now and they've expanded into my hood! And guess what?! I'm STILL a fan! I absolutely adore this location partially because it's so convenient, but mainly because the service is excellent! When it comes to pizza, ya girl is pretty damn boring. BOOOR-ING! Yep... I'll be the first to admit it. I'm simple and very much a creature of habit. When I order a pizza, 90% of the time it's gonna be cheese, cheese, and more cheese! Something about a deliciously cheesy pizza just makes my heart melt. It's not that I don't enjoy meat on my pizza, because I do. But for some reason when I'm having a pizza craving, it's mainly because I'm craving for the cheese. Having too much meat on my pizza won't fulfill my cheese cravings. Call me a weirdo, but this is my rationalization as to why I usually stick to getting cheese pizza. The cheese pizza is poppin' here! I used to always avoid these types of places because I always feared that the cheese layer would be too thin. But this MOD Pizza location really knows how to hook it up! I love their "Maddy" pizza which is just your basic plain cheese, but I also adore their "Dillon James" which is a cheese pizza topped with tomatoes, asiago, basil, and garlic. Just be happy that I've "experimented" this much and actually added something OTHER than cheese on top. It ain't quite meat, but it takes a lot for me to add on extra items at places like these. I'm kind of obsessed with their tea and lemonade bar too. They've got some great iced teas and lemonades that you can blend together to create a bomb ass drink concoction. Their marion blackberry lemonade is fiyaaah! Deathly sweet but oh so good and fruity! And, don't sleep on their milkshakes! Their milkshakes are thick, creamy, and delish! They often have a rotating shake flavor (the oreo shake is BOMB!). I have yet to try their pizza salad, but one day when I get off this cheese pizza high, I'm gonna go for the greens. The service here is exceptional! Sometimes the lines can get pretty busy but they always seem to move quickly. The employees always seem so cheery and in a good mood. Shout out to Oscar for hooking up my pizza! He was such a hoot. The interior is bright and clean. I honestly couldn't ask for more from this place. Okay, wait! I could ask for more PARKING because the parking in the Veranda truly sucks arse, but I can't blame that on MOD. So happy to have MOD Pizza in the Veranda! This place can get pretty busy, but the pizza is worth the wait! The interior of this pizzeria is well decorated, well lit, and an appropriate size for groups. I believe they also have outdoor seating, but I stayed inside since it was so cold out. The line to order your pizza starts right when you enter the doors. They have the menu on the wall so you can take your pick of the pizzas they have on their menu. My friend ordered the Tristan pizza and I ordered the Caspian. The ladies making our pizzas were very nice considering how packed and loud it was inside; I'm sure they were under some stress, but it didn't show. The guy in charge of the oven I didn't have much of an interaction with but he seemed nice, the other guys near the register and in charge of boxing the pizzas weren't rude, but they weren't too friendly either. Not too big a deal, but not the greatest first impression for me since I had never had or been to a MOD Pizza before. The pizzas came out great, and were cooked to perfection. I also got a carmelized peach iced tea which was pretty good, but not my favorite. Overall, 4/5 stars. Great pizzas for sure. Not the best customer service, but definitely not the worst either. My hubs has been urging me to try this place for a long time. And I can certainly understand why. Overall verdict: Good pizza, good price, and we will be back. First of all, you order whatever and however many toppings you'd like at one base price. This is totally unique for a pizza place. Every other pizza shop will charge you a fee per topping. Not MOD Pizza. There is one charge for your pizza whether you want plain cheese or everything. Second, MOD has a delightful selection of sauces, cheeses, toppings, and glazes. While you could absolutely order a regular pepperoni pizza, why not branch out and get a little creative? For me, I chose the garlic rub and white sauce to begin with. I layered that with an assortment of mozzarella, Asiago, and Parmesan cheeses. Then I selected chicken, artichoke, spinach, tomato slices, and onion slices for my toppings. All of this turned out to be a successful combination for my taste buds. I was also looking to find a GF option for the hubs. While ordering his favorite pizza was not a problem, I was curious about a GF garlic cheese bread option, which wasn't already listed as a side, so I built one instead. Starting with a GF crust, I topped it with a garlic rub and white sauce along with a blend of mozzarella and Parmesan. This was heaven! And much better than the regular garlic cheese bread side dish. Three preparation errors have lowered my rating and review this time. We were missing the balsamic glaze on my pizza and the marinara sauce for the regular side order of the garlic cheese bread. The line was consistent and pretty put together. NOW, the two gentlemen who were manning the oven.. hmm.. that night there was one guy with a beanie (turquoise) skinny kinda dude.. and one with a navy blue hat (he was aaight). I ordered first and my pizza came out great. The second pizza came out fine too, but in the process , one of my friends pizzas fell on the ground......... FIRST OFF, he was really not inviting and apologetic to my friend - common her food was dropped on the floor (yeah you'll allow her to make another one , but still - YOU HAVE ONE JOB- Don't drop the pizza) or at least be kind about it. Anyways the part that pissed me off was he said "so we dropped your pizza , are you gonna tell her what you want or you're just gonna stare" .. okay how nice of you. He also kept calling her "Chris" and her names not "Chris" it's Kristine. I just didn't like that the customer would get an attitude from an employee especially after they dropped her food. Our family decided to give this place a try. It was a Monday evening, and we didn't think it'd be too busy -we were wrong. First impression of the place- The restaurant was extremely dirty. All the tables had food on them, and the trash cans were overflowing. The area where you get the utensils and parmesan, peppers, etc., needed a refill and a cleaning. We had our 9-month-old with us, and there was only one high chair in the entire restaurant (which was already in use). We also found out there wasn't a changing table in the men's room - which was also filthy. I'd say those are pretty big minuses for families with small children. The food was okay--nothing to bring you back. I wouldn't recommend the white sauce; it has no flavor. We had tomatoes on one pizza that were so green they were inedible. Overall, I give it two stars. Even bad pizza is usually edible, and I'm sure for people without small kids, this place is a good option. It seems like they must be short-staffed but you can't slack on cleanliness. After two botched takeout orders (Management couldn't care less!) and today taking my two toddler grandkids out for lunch, it became very obvious after 20 minutes that they didn't even make our pizza. I had already ate my salad, the kids were absolutely restless. They let us wait for a pizza they NEVER made for 20 minutes (almost empty restaurant). Finally I said something and they actually told me that I already got my pizza!!!! I said ummm, nope! Crickets. I'm like, hey... what are you going to do here?
