Pretty good pizza. I came here last night after a long day at work and was happy to see they're open until 10 pm. Ive been wanting too try their pizza for awhile. I ordered a mod size pizza and I was pleased to see it was decent sized. Standard topping options, but I like how at the end you can pick what sauce you would like to top the pizza. The pizza was flavorful, and pretty good size for the price. Service wise- mostly the people were nice. Friendly and helpful. The first person who helped me tho, I'm guessing was staying extra or was really tired because all they did was complain about how they wanted to cry and they wanted to go home. Look, I get it. You're tired and you don't wanna be there anymore. But the entire time they made my pizza was complaining and I continued to hear complaints even after I was finished paying and just waiting for my pizza. Other than that, everybody seemed pretty nice. Not sure if tHats a regular occurrence for that person or it's just an off day, but it was really off putting. read more

This is really 3.5. I love their pizza and especially love that they make a mini size at a really, really good price. The topping choices are great and can make decision making challenging. My problem is that they are severely understaffed. Now I know this is a tough economic market right now, but seeing only two people working the line and ringing up orders is disappointing when it's crunch time. The workers at this location "don't" take pride in their job, they don't smile and just don't care! I've been here twice and this will be the last time.The first time they undercooked my pizza and I had cold ingredients. The 2nd time the lady made my pizza so sloppy it was falling apart. She placed a small amount of sauce and I asked for a "little" more she put a whole scoop on it. I asked for mushrooms she smothered it mind you because of all of the red sauce it wasn't right already. Also, they didn't roll the dough before starting with ingredients. MOD is one of three main pizza places in the Bay Area that offers the make-your-own pizza concept. They have loads of topping to choose from. You can do meat lovers, hawaiian, veggie pizza, different sauces (red, white, pesto) and drizzles (balsamic, more pesto, ranch, buffalo). If you're too indecisive to pick your toppings, just choose one of the MOD pizza combos on their menu. Same goes for salad. In terms of taste, MOD bakes their pizza in a stone oven. I've never had pizza stone baked before, but I must say, it's absolutely delicious. It's very traditional, crust is very flaky, crunchy, and toppings are well cooked. It has that smoky, oven fresh bake to them. I also love how evenly spread out the toppings are. The staff does a great job of making sure you get each ingredient included in each bite. I also recommend their salads here. They have lots of different dressings to choose from, and you can add as many toppings as you want with your greens. For $9 you get a huge bowl of salad and/or a regular sized 11 inch MOD pizza. Or if you're watching your figure, there's a mini 5 inch, for $5. Though it's too small, in my opinion. What puts MOD over the other similar pizza places is their customer service. Every time I come in MOD, I am always greeted with a warm welcome even when I'm all the way across the room. I think it's important to have especially since they're not just ringing us up for our order. It can get kind of awkward when you're just standing their while they assemble your pizza for you. Any vestige of former occupant Rubio's has been erased by a fresh coat of paint & MOD Pizza's new layout. We shared a pizza before doing a big shop at Target. On it, we choose red sauce, mushrooms, olives, artichokes, tomatoes, red onions (which cooked nicely), garlic, & three types of cheese. I thought the blend of mozzarella, asiago, & parmesan was a little overkill, but the person I shared with enjoyed the distinct qualities of each. An 11-inch pie (about $9.50) cut into four was more than enough for two people. As with all the Make Your Own Pizza spots I've tried, I don't fully embrace the cracker-thin crust, but it's a necessary evil when cooking a pizza in less that 10 minutes. My name was scribbled on the paper that lined the pan so there shouldn't have been any confusion as to what pizza belonged to what customer; however, when my name was called & I went to collect my order, the pizza in front of me was the wrong one. When I finally picked up my order, I noticed the wrong name written on the paper! Musical pizzas is not such a fun game when the wrong meal ends up with the wrong owner. First came boba, then came poke. Now there's so many build your own pizza places. But that's okay, because everyone loves pizza. And let's face it, sometimes, hubs doesn't want the same thing as I do on a pie, and we never really order a half and half pizza. I love Blaze at Stonestown, so I was a bit skeptical of MOD. Pieology is okay, but prefer the Foster City Pieology location more than the DC one. We arrived a little around 11:10 on a Saturday morning. They open at 10:30. We were instantly greeted with a friendly smile and hello. We were the second in line and they told us that it would take a little bit for the oven to warm up. After a few minutes they started to make our pizzas. I chose the Tristan as my base, which consisted of mozzarella, asiago, pesto, roasted red peppers, mushrooms. The pesto was at the end but my friendly pizza builder suggested if I like she could do little sprinkles of pesto for the sauce and butter the edges, so we did. I am not a vegetarian, but what I like about Mod is that they try to keep the cross contamination slightly minimal, as they have scooper spoons in most of their items, however, of course they don't change their gloves in between spreading all the ingredients and each persons' pizza. And it's an open kitchen too so some of the ingredients from nearby containers can fly into others while assembling people's pizzas. I added more veggies onto my pizza and asked for arugula as well. I was disappointed how stingy they were with the arugula though, I only got like 6 pieces for an 11 inch. Hubs got the Jasper as his base. He commented too how he thought they were s little stingy with the ingredients. We also got a huckleberry lemonade to share which was delightful. After about 7-10 minutes our pizzas were served to us. MOD seems to have slightly more topping options than Blaze and Pieology, such as more drizzle sauces as sweet fig sauce, Sriracha drizzle, and some different toppings such as jalapeños, more assorted cheeses, etc. I also like how they offer a smaller 6 inch size for kiddos or those with a smaller appetite. They also offer salads and salad pizzas. Pricewise, pretty much the same as the other two nearby competitors. The crust was very crispy, +1 star for that. It didn't get very soggy in the middle either. Flavors were great, though it may have been a little on the rich side for me since I had a slight stomach ache later in the day. In a sea of build it yourself pizza places, MOD Pizza shines. When in the area, I would rotate MOD and Blaze when the DIY pizza craving hits. I think they could improve their efficiency though as the pizza oven wasn't heated up all the way about 40-45 minutes after opening, as well as the assembling of the pizzas seeming a bit slower than my experiences at other places. 3.5 stars rounded up. read more

I really do like this place. I've been here 3x now. It's great! You can customize your pizza and have as many different toppings as you want. They even have gluten free crusts and will do a cheese-less pizza for you. The only thing I don't recommend is doing the double stack of crusts. My friend told me it was just way too much cheese as they just stack two crusts and put cheese in between. Quick easy pizza and everyone get's exactly what they want. I typically don't like 'build your own pizza' places as the crust is usually crap lol. However, MOD PIZZA is the exception. The crust is pretty good! They have a MINI size which I LOVE! MINI is perfect if you don't want to feel TOO FULL after your pizza, or if you want to enjoy a brew with your MINI pizza - that's the perfect combo. I love that they have roasted veggies to add to your pizza, along with fresh meats and greens etc. The staff is very friendly and loud lol but it's a welcoming environment and they all clearly are there to provide great service. Ordered to go. Pizza was fine. Soda was room temperature. What does it take it get a cold soda? If a customer orders a soda, the soda is expected to be cold. Pizza tasted fine, but order process was spotty. They cancelled the order after 10 minutes and didn't give a reason. And no custom orders apparently? Who knows! They never told us why the order was cancelled. We ended up ordering a simple cheese pizza, since we didn't want to have another order cancelled after 10 minutes. read more

This is not a dig at what I think could be a great pizza place, but the problem I had with the online ordering system and my first impressions of them on a Saturday evening. Ordered two pizzas online (to go) from them, their featured Crosby and a custom white pizza. The pizzas were supposed to be ready at 8:05 PM. One of my pictures shows the large line that greeted me when I when to pick it up, but there was no separate line (or maybe I missed it) for pre-ordered pick-ups. And I felt awkward just stepping up to the cash register to pick up my order, ahead of the line that I essentially just cut in front of to get my own pre-paid pizzas. Bottom-line: my order was missing one of the two pizzas due to a printing error that only printed 1/2 of the order, so 1/2 of the order was processed while the other was MIA. The guy behind the cash register was having to handle this gigantic line and explain where my other pizza (the Crosby) was and eventually needed to re-order my pizza He also graciously offered me a shake for my troubles and my rapidly cooling first pizza, which I took him up on; a very thick chocolate shake. When the Crosby came out, it looked great and finally joined (about 10-15 minutes later) the first pizza. Verdict: pizzas were OK after needing reheating at home. They each were a bit too salty from something that they use and the shake was just a bit too sweet. The artichokes on the Crosby had some woody stems in it, but otherwise was decent. The custom white pizza (White Sauce, Mozzarella, Bacon, Grilled Chicken, Artichokes, Fresh Basil, Pesto Drizzle--sounds great hah?) was somehow missing a seasoning that would have helped it along (maybe garlic, Parmesan cheese, or Italian seasoning?) I'm not sure that this place is better than Pieology, but it has great potential. The management was very nice and tried hard to make it right. I would certainly try this place again when in the Serramonte Shopping Center again. For under $9 a custom-made pizza, this is a pretty good deal, if you can get it hot outta the oven. read more

TLDR; Pizza Quality: 4/5 Service at this location: 0/5 I absolutely love ModPizza. But I hate their service at this location. For the last three times that I've placed online orders, my pizzas (yes plural) were never ready even 5-10 minutes AFTER the ETA time. The first two times, I decided to let it go since they didn't have the usual full crew on the floor and they seemed somewhat busy. Not necessarily a line out the door but a handle of individual customers at least. However, this third time was my last and final straw. I place an order of three pizzas at 6:10 PM and the ready time was 6:35 PM. I arrived at 6:40 PM and the pizzas were NOT ready. They weren't even ready for the oven. The workers were just loitering around and one even told me to get in line before realizing I was there to pick up my order. The worker I spoke cut me off midsentence and turned around to exclaim to her coworker that "Oh my god, we totally forgot to make this order. Hahaha." Then told me it would be ready in "a couple of minutes". Half an hour later, I walked out with my pizzas in one hand, my phone dialing their Customer Service line in the other. I left a voicemail regarding the lack of professionalism this Serremonte Mod Pizza had and received a call back during the next business day -- Monday. The Customer Service representative was very kind and explain that she would open an internal investigation regarding this issue. I suppose we'll see how that goes. TL:DR; Don't order online because there's a high chance that the workers won't care enough about your order to make it before the ETA. Save your time and device battery -- just go in to order instead. read more

My visit here was a mixed bag. The food is fairly priced. The staff serving your food are ok, except for the one that serves you fistfuls of olives and garlic. The main negatives and reasons why there is some star loss: the employee cleaning the lobby is super gross. I honestly thought she was a customer rubbing her feet with her hands in the lobby, to which she went back to the kitchen (she was wearing gloves). Then she goes into the restroom and comes out STILL WEARING THE SAME GLOVES and then she proceeds to go into the kitchen. That is the most disgusting thing ever. First experience, during their second week of opening, Monday night around 9:30pm: I walked in to a lively greeting! Clean and organized. There were a few people eating inside, and a few people came in after me so it was pretty empty. However it was close to closing time and they are still new! Someone helped me out right away...I wasn't sure what I wanted so I built my own of whatever sounded good to me at the time (white sauce, basil, mushroom, black olive, salami, mild sausage, roasted red pepper, roasted garlic, ricotta, mozzarella, and asiago cheese)! They didn't rush me, they let me mix ingredients/sauces and put as much as I want. What impressed me was how evenly they distributed the ingredients and put a good amount on. I took my pizza to go. When I got home to eat it, the pizza was soft-chewy (in a good way) with some crunch on the crust. 4 stars instead of 5 is for the crust, It could be a little thicker. I would count this as a thin crust pizza, and a tad bit thicker crust wouldn't change that, but make it better :) Later in the night parking isn't a problem. This location is in the Serramonte Shopping Center, during the day parking might be tougher. Your average mall parking lot-wars. Overall I had a great experience and I will be coming back to enjoy more pizza! read more

MOD pizza is SO good. The concept is not unique, but they execute it even better than other "build your own pizza" places such as Blaze and Pieology. Staff is friendly, you get your food fast and the pizzas taste awesome. They have a ton of fresh ingredients to pick from including my favorites, spicy sausage and corn. They also offer a lot of fresh herbs and spices on top of different butter flavors and sauces. You can build your own salad as well but I've never tried it because pizza. The sodas are worth trying out too: 2 kinds of lemonade and ice-tea. While it can get busy, service is always fast and there's enough seating. This Mod Pizza 3007 N. Glassford Prescott Valley Az has the worst customer service. While sitting on the patio, I was berated by a customer who refused to restrain his dogs. He was Hostile and threatened me. I went inside and spoke to the cook, she was rude, and said just call the police. Then she said she would come out and speak to him. Very impressed with food and staff at MOD pizza. First time I have been to Serramonte center mall location. Staff very energetic and friendly. I ordered the Olivia which is their take on a Margerita pizza it was very good. I'm happy they offer the mini size. I also ordered the deluxe salad. It is a kind of Italian chopped salad with salami,chicken,green bell pepper and olives. I added red roasted peppers to complete my salad. You can customize pizza or salad . The quality of ingredients are better than Pieology across the street and the employees seem to be happier. Highly recommend. read more

MOD Pizza is actually the first built your own pizza place I've tried. They have the BYO pizza option, or you can order one of their set classic pizzas. They have 3 different sizes of pizzas, so you have plenty of options. All the workers here are super friendly. Anytime people come in, they all scream "HELLOO" to welcome you in. It's like chipotle here, where you wait in line for your turn, when it's your turn you tell them what size & toppings you want on your pizza, then they ring you up, & you just wait while your pizza is being made. There's different types of meats, toppings, & sauces. Any topping that you'll find on a normal pizza will be here. Personally for myself, I did the BYO pizza option & I got the smallest size, which was four slices & it was a perfect amount. They also have different types of sauces in a little container for you to eat with your sauces. They have a sauce that's Sriracha mixed with ranch, give that one a try! I haven't been to other BYO pizza places like Pieology or Blazed Pizza so I can't compare them, but my best friend said that she prefers MOD over the other two because MOD seems to have more options here with sizes & sauces. MOD is part of the Serramonte mall too, so you can come by before, during, or after you shop to grab a bite. The price for the pizza here is well worth it! My number one reason for the five star rating is the customer service. They are all so friendly and welcoming. They don't get frustrated with questions! Pizzas are delicious and well worth the money $8.47 for a nice sized pizza. They have a mini size, and a mega pizza which is the same size of the regular size, but double decker. I was on the hunt for some pizza and googled very specific dietary options for pizza near me, and MOD Pizza came up so I decided to give it a shot. Not really knowing what was on the menu other than gluten crust, I proceeded to ask the staff all I could about the ingredients for the build your own pizza menu. The manager, Josh, was so helpful and knew what was in each item and even told me about their gluten, vegan and dairy free options for my pizza. I was so excited to hear all about it since I have been restricting myself on what I can eat due to my new "trial" diet. I was completely surprised at how healthy it was without compromising taste. I love MOD pizza, I'm a consistent customer here because you get such great pizza so quickly, and at an excellent price. I have to give this one-star though because of a huge hygiene concern. In my attached photo, there is a pic of one of the employees that heats the pizza and tops it off + boxes it to serve the customers. They had a friend visit with their adorable pitbull, which isn't a problem initially. The dog was minding their own business and with the owner the whole time, and didn't go to the kitchen. However, the employee that finalizes the pizzas left the kitchen and went to go play with the dog. The dog was licking the employees hands, the employee was scratching the puppy all over their body, and then immediately proceeded to finish the pizzas right after- no hand washing, no gloves, just pure dog saliva on their hands as they finish decorating pizzas. I'm greatly disappointed in this experience, and have to discontinue my patronage with MOD pizza after this. read more
