MOD Pizza needs to do better. I had a horrible experience on my last visit. Instead of handing me my hot honey and sriracha sauces, that were in a plastic sauce cup, they placed the sauce cup lid-first directly into my pizza without securing the lid. As a result, hot honey and sriracha spilled all over my pizza making it inedible. The sauce leaked through the box and all over my clothes during the drive home. This was a complete mess and ruined my food. I do not understand why this would ever be done. read more

The food is always great and fresh and delicious but the customer service from the cold the employee there is always a sign of disrespect based on how they act and body language personally mad because you have to deal with people's request that's what a customer does each customer is not the same. If there was another location in my neighborhood I would never come back to this MOD Pizza. It's killing the workplace when someone know they can't get fired because the company needs them. read more

Oddly enough, the staff here were bickering with each other like couples that hate each other. This led to slow service, but let's be real it's basically subway for pizza and it is what it is. Overall the pizza is decent and they now have wings which are also pretty darn good. read more

Today I stopped at Lakewood MOD Pizza which is not near my home. I ordered what I always have, an 11" MOD pizza with my choice of toppings. Let me say first, I LOVE MOD pizza because of the way I can customize my toppings. The young man building my pizza listened carefully and began building my pizza. I noticed the toppings were not as generous as I am used to but didn't say anything or order anything extra. Let me explain: At the other station, a young gal was building a phone order pizza. She was putting spinach on the pizza. The person who I assume is her boss said (loudly) "That's too much spinach." The young gal said, "They requested extra spinach". Boss lady then said "Spread it around so it looks like more". She then said something about costs or overhead, I couldn't hear her. The young gal was always respectful and acknowledged the instructions but was obviously embarrassed and trying her best. There was another issue (I did not hear the details about) where Boss Lady gave the employee similar loud reprimand and instructions. I have NEVER had a problem ordering extra of anything on my pizza at any of the 4 to 6 different MODs I go to in my area. When I travel, I have similar experiences at MOD. The reason I didn't complain nor ask for extra toppings at the time is because I didn't want either of the two employees to be reprimanded in front of each other or the customers. The place was clean, the service was fast, and the ambiance was typical MOD. However, "Boss Lady" needs to learn to train employees without embarrassing them in from of each other and customers. IMHO, she needs a job where she can work independently and without direct reports. I will NOT be back to this location, EVER! read more

Omg!!!! One of the Best places to eat in Lakewood Towne Center. Sorry, no pics, next time. I had the 10in cauliflower crust, red sauce, with lots of veggies & meats.... Pretty healthy for a diabetic in moderation & tasty! As I built it & brought over half of it home. Must add, that the customer service was Awesome!!!! I've been to a few stores/businesses that could learn a thing or 2. I've also been to the Tacoma Mall location for my first try at MOD which was good but Lakewood stood out! It is yummy here, and I love how friendly and super the service is at this location. (Probably because) it is newer so it is much cleaner than its' Tacoma Mall location. It is also nice that they have alcohol for those who want to drink a cold beer with their pizza. I also like their many choices in sauces at the end for a topping. Pesto topping drizzled was my favorite. Also, it is wonderful that they give a discount to veterans and military. That is most important in this neighborhood, and I applaud this business in knowing and doing so! Cons: The crust has the taste and texture of a thin cracker base vs thin crust from other pizza chains. I wish they had a reward system like Pizza Studio. I also wish they had multiple types of crusts like pizza studio. And no one can beat pizza studio's divine cookies. I will have to bring the husband here because he does love Mod! :) read more

If you don't do dairy, this is a decent place for pizza! They have a fair selection of non-meat toppings on the build your own part of the menu. Take out is where it's at for us because they're always busy. It gets loud and a bit much for dine in. The ambiance is pretty typical of a pizza place, nothing over the top. We eat here a couple times a month and the food hasn't disappointed! read more

We love that you can customize and build your personal pizza here any way that you want. The toppings have a large variety of options as well as meat, cheese, and sauce. When ordering they are pretty prompt and quick to get to each order even though they are often busy. My only gripe would be pricing. Like anything in Washington it is expensive for what you get. It takes at least four 11-inch pizzas to feed my family and costs at least $50 out the door. It's a treat every now and again, but for the price for what you get we often choose other options in the area. read more

My husband and I used to come here all the time. It seems they changed a bunch of people and it got worse. Ingredients aren't as fresh and out sometimes. Weird new line system makes it too easy to accidentally drop meat in the veggies. Thats not cool for people with dietary restrictions. Mod is a super cool place to eat and I love this location. I told my brother we needed to hit up MOD Pizza while I was in town! And he actually went 5x in a row before he took me We went as a family to have MOD pizza for lunch! Service is super fast and I love that they have cauliflower crust as an option. And the toppings are endless! We got to sit down and eat and I ordered another pizza to take home for my daughter to eat later. The inside has a great energy, lots of natural lighting, and if you'd like a more quiet area, head to the back of the restaurant for more intimate seating. After an amazing lunch, we started to make our way out the door. and before I even made it to the car, my clumsy self dropped the pizza.. and of course it landed with the box opened and pizza face planted the cement. I was so mad I did this because the pizza box also had our leftovers in it too. I tried to clean up as much as I could, and couldn't find a trash can outside. So I went back in to find a trash can. The entire crew said hello to me again, and looked so concerned that I was throwing a full pizza box away! So I told them my butter fingers dropped the pizza on the ground. The district manager (who happened to be hanging out behind us when we dined in) told the crew to make a brand NEW pizza for me. The entire crew was so nice and told me to come to the front and they'll make a new one. Im still in shock as to what's happening, that I went to the district manager to thank him. What the DM told me literally brought me to tears because they did not have to do this for me. I could just feel that everyone cared about their customers and treated them like a million bucks. I have a background in corporate sales and I'm now a business owner, and I know that nothing is "free". Thank you MOD Pizza for going above and beyond for me today. This was my first time coming in and you guys all made me feel at home. My family loves the Lakewood Towne Center location already and we are happy to give you repeat business. Unfortunately there isn't a location near me in CA, and can't wait to come back to visit and have a great pizza! And thank you district manager for your talk today. Dirty establishment. Trash overflowing, trash receptacle sticky, floor sticky and food all over the place. There was food and sauce on the counters, floor, customer barrier. I took a peek in the kitchen, there was a pile of trash on the floor, dirty wares stacked on the counters and floor. Employees were checking their phones and then handling food without washing their hands. They put a piece of metal on my daughter's pizza for identification. Unfortunately, when they pulled it off, they pulled all the cheese from ther middle of the pizza. Not to mention it took about 13-15 minutes for one pizza. I immediately left and went to Pizza Studio. It took half the time for two pizzas and they were much nicer, cleaner and generous with ingredients. Awesome community first day opening! My family and I have gone to both the Puyallup & Tacoma locations, stickered them with our names and have gotten to try a couple yummy versions of pizzas! Today we listened to the charity person, history of the company and the awesome couple who started it, met the employees, and got a free pizza card! My daughter ordered a cheese pizza with olives, pineapples, and roasted cauliflower. I got the Olivia ( because it's amazing) but also added pineapple and Greek olives. What an enjoyable visit to a newer location. We were promptly greeted and the line was wrapped around the inside corner, but still moved along very quickly. Although there were a large number of Internet orders, the staff put our pizzas in the oven mixed in with the others and not too long after the time we were checked out, got our beers, and found a seat, our names were called and were served hot pizzas. The staff puts just the right amount of toppings to cover the crust while not overloading. Always a nice light swirl of sauce just enough to taste and garnish, but not smothering. Toppings are fresh and always great taste. MOD also offers different crusts for those who desire or have allergies to gluten so there is a pizza for everyone. The crust is thin and firm enough to hold shape with the toppings that the customer desires. We have been going to MOD locations since we discovered them several years ago. Yes, there are make your own pizza restaurants sprouting throughout the globe, MOD differs with their atmosphere while serving quality products at reasonable prices. Every time I go here the wait time is horrendous so I decided to order online thinking hey they say it's going to be ready by 6:38 then it should be ready by 6:38, it's not and it wasn't. I go to ask the lady at the end the one with the super short hair how long it will be she wouldn't give me a time she just said it will be longer. I suppose customer service isn't their top priority. I would like to know what is because their fast pizza takes longer than Pizza Hut which usually only takes 15 minutes. I asked for a refund and that took 15 more minutes and by that time the pizza still wasn't ready. I know I won't get a response from corporate since they are a chain who doesn't need my little bit of money. But if they continue in this way they will lose a lot more people and that adds up. The problem with this Mod Pizza isn't the food it's the service, to be more specific the call in service. The last 3 times I have called in my order I was told it would be 15 minutes which is no problem. The issue is the extra 15 minutes I have to wait after I get to the restaurant. One time the guy had all the names mixed up and my pizza sat in front of him for 10 minutes. There is no point in calling ahead if I still have to wait. I don't have an hour lunch I only have a half hour and they make me late. So disappointed in this place. read more

I think the first mistake we made was that we came during the rush time on a Friday night. My pizza barely had any cheese but either the guy may have been new or I didn't know I was suppose to ask for more? They had about four different people working the pizza line. Not the very best pizza around, but the concept and results are fantastic! Pick WHATEVER toppings you want, they put it on a pizza crust then cook it. Simple as that. And, there are A LOT of toppings. More than your typical pizza place has. This is especially great for vegetarians, as the options are vast. And, you don't chose toppings off of a menu. They're right there in front of you like a salad bar. You walk down the line and tell them exactly what you want. It takes around 10 minutes to cook the pizza. And, it's pretty darn good! Because of the ordering/pizza building style, it can take a while to order if it's busy. This is because they can only build one or two pizzas at a time. Employee turnover seems to be high, so the quality of service probably fluctuates a bit. Overall it's worth checking out at least once. You'll probably love it or hate it.
