Ripped wallpaper to the floor. This is a fall risk.

How can you tell if a restaurant is properly maintained? Start by checking the bathrooms. For instance, the wallpaper is peeling down to the floor, creating a tripping hazard. The toilets haven't been cleaned in weeks, as evidenced by the acid rings forming around the bowl. One bathroom stall had fecal matter, and two out of the three stalls were filthy. Additionally, the bathroom floor hasn't been appropriately mopped, and good luck finding any paper towels to dry your hands after washing them. If the bathrooms are not being maintained, it raises concerns about the cleanliness of the area where your food is prepared. The maintenance of both spaces is interconnected because employees use those bathrooms before handling your food. Overall morale appears to be low, and it may warrant the involvement of local health authorities. See the attached pictures for evidence.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Such a great location, lots of parking and nearby options. We were planning to go to Chip Cookie and decided to stop here first for pizza. Love that guests can create their own pizzas. The pizza making station appeared clean and the toppings were fresh. We ate in and it was hard to find a clean table. The bathrooms were also pretty dirty. Service was so-so.

Custom mega pizza (then forgot to ass the sausage)

***3.5 Stars*** I truly do enjoy MOD Pizza. I'm a huge fan of the fast casual create-your-own wood fired pizza spots these days. And while quite a few of these pizza chains have popped up over the years, MOD has been and still is my favorite of the bunch. I've been to the Veranda location a few times, but recently stopped by this location in the Orchards. I love that this location has an actual outside patio space. The interior is super clean and spacious (although closed during COVID right now). I placed an online order for a custom mega pizza. Normally I'm pretty boring when it comes to pizza and will be completely satisfied with a plain cheese pie. I know, I know... boring as hell. But, something about a classic cheesy pizza just... does it for me. However on this particular night, I felt like adding some meat and veggies to the mix. I requested Asiago and mozzarella cheese with Canadian bacon, sausage, olives, diced tomatoes, and fresh chopped basil with a special request of light on the olives and heavy on the cheese. My pizza was still in the oven when I arrived, but it only took about 5 minutes or so before it was ready. They definitely heeded my special request, but I noticed that they forgot to add the sausage. When I brought this to their attention, the young man at the counter offered to put the sausage on and place it back in the oven. I was kind of pressed for time at that point and just asked him if he could give them to me on the side. Not sure how they forgot the sausage in the first place because it was clearly shown on both receipts, but hey... mistakes happen. At least they tried to rectify the situation as best they could. Aside from this little mishap, the pizza was still really tasty and super cheap at less than $10 for an 11" mega. The cheese was nicely melted and the flavors were on point. For a fast casual personal sized pizza, it definitely hit the spot. It's MOD, so there's no doubt in my mind that I'll be stopping by again at some point. I'm just hoping that next time they'll get my order right the first time around.

I work in the Shadelands shopping center and Mod is one of our go to lunch spots. We find it simple and easy to order online and customize our meals. The food is always ready at the requested pick up time and still hot when we get back to our workplace. The quality is consistent and I like that I can switch up my order and know it'll still be good. I like that you can get the sauce drizzled on it or get it on the side at pick up. The mod size is just perfect for lunch.

Does this location offer cauliflower crust?

Cauliflower crust is now an option. It is gluten free however it is not vegan as it has cheese and egg in the crust.

Thankfully, when a location opened in Walnut Creek, I was able to try it finally. I was honored to be a guest at Pizza My Heart's Yelp Elite Party a while ago and try lots of their delicious slices! I have been back several times since. Most recently, my family was still hungry after we met up with friends at the new Bare Bottle nearby. Their kitchen was wildly backed up, and they weren't taking any more food orders. We left hungry, and Pizza My Heart was on the way to our car, so we knew exactly where to go! Pizza My Heart sells pizzas by the slice, which comes in really handy, especially when the family wants different toppings! It was already late, and we only needed a slice each, so Pizza My Heart was perfect. It was a nice surprise to see the bright yellow surfboard we signed hung up in the restaurant. My son came with me into the restaurant to order, and he was excited to spot his name that I signed on the board! After spotting the surfboard, I was warmly greeted by Marcos and was delighted because I remembered him from the Yelp Elite Party! He was so fun and helpful at the Yelp Elite Event (we even gave him a big cheer and round of applause at the YEE because he was that good!), and I was also treated to his excellent customer service again! He told me about what slices they had with a big smile and friendly demeanor. He was quick to take our order and get us our slices boxed up. Slices here are a tad on the pricier side, but I don't think you'll feel that way when you see them chock full of toppings! They offer a slice for everyone, from vegan slices to dairy-free (which I needed to order when my nursing baby had a milk protein allergy) to a hearty slice for meat lovers, which is packed with all types of meat. I've tried a variety of slices and I've never been disappointed. I love their slices that feature ricotta cheese! Yum! Thanks Pizza My Heart! We'll be back!

Observations: 1) The place is very small. They sit you outside in a very windy alley. The food gets cold within 5min or so. So capacity is very limited. 3) We ordered lemonade for kids. They serve it in short glasses filled with ice to the brim (despite our ask for "no ice"), effectively reducing the liquid volume. We paid $35 for lemonade. 4) Food is very uneventful, nothing was remarkable. Their gnocchi with meat resembled Chef Boyardee from back in college times. Not sure why this place felt so pretentious with really no substance to back it. With so many options around like Montecatini, Doppio Zero, Benvenuti, La Fontaine, etc, not sure how they are still in business. Definitely not recommended for families, and have a hard time figuring out what audience they cater to.

We originally planned to grab boba and eat at a different restaurant but when we parked the smell in the air called us to Tomatina instead. We originally came in and the older gentleman said they couldn't seat us right away and to come back in 20 minutes. We didn't mind and took a walk around the block and was seated right away when we returned and he brought us menus. A waiter came and was friendly, making sure he got the order correct. It seemed like he may have been in training. We decided to each get a lemonade, share the meatball appetizer, I ordered the pasta trio and my husband ordered the chicken parmesan. The meal started out nice with the drinks immediately coming out and the appetizer shortly after. The drinks were good, however they were out of pint glasses and came in a collins glass instead. The waiter mentioned the lack of pints and the smaller glass calling it fancy but didn't reference if we'd get a discount or a refill due to the smaller portion as a result of the glass switch. The meatballs were tender and had a good flavor. The sauce was nice and the bread was serviceable. After we finished our appetizer, there was a lack in service for at least 15 minutes. They did not clear the dirty dishes, offer water, or provide any type of check in. While we waited, my spouse had noticed a pasta entree (and a salad) was put up and was placed on top of a pizza box. He didnt think much of it until we started to realize we had been waiting longer than felt appropriate and noticed it was 3 different colors, like you'd expect for a pasta trio like I had ordered. Eventually the pasta was removed and we gave the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't my food that had been sitting out for at at least 10 minutes and they were just slow. A few minutes later, a waitress brought our entrees and they finally cleared the appetizer plates. I took my first bite and my food was cold. Not it cooled down but was still kinda warm, any food that was exposed to air was physically cold to the touch. My husband tried to flag the waitress down that delivered the food and her and another worker were talking and looking at their register with no awareness of the rest of the room. Given the service thus far, I just got up with the food and walked it over. I explained it was cold to the point where I said she could touch it (I proceeded to touch a noodle) and it's obviously too cold to be served. She apologized and said she talk the the cook/chef. My spouse watched as she went with my cold plate to the open kitchen and it was clear that she explained I said it was cold but they were not planning on remaking it and just reheating it. A trio of pastas with 3 different sauces would not be reheated in a pan so the assumption is there would be a microwave involved. My spouse got up and approached the cook and waitress that reheating the pasta was unacceptable because if we wanted reheated pasta, we could get something from a freezer section grocery store. At this point the waitress seemed shocked that we'd say anything about them choosing to just reheat the food. After a few more remarks they finally said that they'd remake my food. But that'd mean I had to wait while my spouse ate or my husband would wait and then their food was cold when we eat together. At this point, the service was so bad and they made it fell like we were inconveniencing them by wanting at least warm food, my spouse said we just wanted to settle up and leave. Again it took them a minute to process that we didn't want to stay there anymore and eventually said we could just leave. We left and have no plans on returning. I would consider trying a different location since it's a chain, but I will not be back to the Walnut Creek location. I give Tomatina a very generous 2 stars for the service at the very start of the night and the flavor of the meatballs.
