Interior is beautifully designed! There's plenty of seating to accurate large or small parties. There's a pastry section where you are able to select pastries to go however if you plan to eat at the restaurant they won't let you order from the counter but rather will make you have a seat at a table first. Pastry section does not have any names or description so it is confusing what each item is unless you specifically ask or scan their online menu.I would definitely recommend the restaurant to put in labels so folks that want to go orders can see what the pastries are and do not have to scan the menu to find that especially as someone who has never had Turkish pastries before. Service is OK. I think they are still working on it as a new restaurant. You almost have to kind of flag the waiter or waitress down if you're looking to order or pay otherwise you will be waiting a while for them to come to you. Menu has a lot of selections to pick from, however their actual food is a little pricey but sounds delicious! I order just a pastry and their Turkish coffee, which was very interesting to try. Overall, I do not think it is for me, but it was definitely an experience to try something new. I will consider coming back to try some of their brunch lunch or dinner menu items however I think I will wait a while for them to resolve some of initial issues, such as service. What a treat to have a Turkish spot nearby! I was looking forward to trying this place since seeing the "Coming Soon" sign over the summer. First and foremost, the interior is gorgeous and spacious. Once it hits a certain time, the waitstaff brings out table lamps and the overhead lights dim, creating a lovely ambiance. My fiancé and I ordered the Anatolian platter and felt that it was a good serving size for about 3 people. We thoroughly enjoyed it becauae you can try the different types of meats; we wish we had more stomach to try other things on the menu. We also picked up a pistachio/chocolate cake to-go, which we savored at home- it met our expectations and was rich with pistachio. I know a lot of the negative reviews were regarding service... which wasn't great for us either. We had to flag down our young waiter to get a to-go box. In addition, when we said we just wanted water, he brought out bottled water, which wasn't what we asked for. I didn't have attentive service here. I found the menu to be extensive. However, I think if you're not familiar with Turkish items, it may be hard to decide what to try. I think the menu should have photos to help drive decisions. I was also interested in trying a cold milky baklava, but saw a fly flying around in the glass. It was a no this time. They should also have prices of their bakery items on display. There is only one reason why this place doesn't have higher stars: super slow service. Despite the huge success of the grocery business, which is within a mile and carries by far the largest selection of Turkish groceries in the DMV area, the cafe needs to focus on having waiters that will actually check in with tables as opposed to the European/Turkish style of needing to be called. A unique experience with decent food. I have never had Turkish food before so this was a first. My family and I came for brunch and had no idea what to get so we settled on the full Turkish Breakfast for three. It was like a fancy breakfast charcuterie. We had fruit with jams, honey, and Nutella; vegetables such as greens, cucumber, chilies, and tomatoes; nuts including almonds and walnuts; a mini cheese platter with three kinds of cheese; bread; omelettes. It was fresh and delishish! I was pleasantly surprised by the eggs, I didn't know what to expect but I wouldn't consider them omelettes in the American sense. I actually really like them though. The Sujuk had an egg base with slices of meat on top. I had no idea what the meat was but it had such a depth of flavor (notes of curry) and added an appropriate fattiness to the egg dish. Some of the eggs were a bit undercooked but it didn't really bother me. The Menemen was definitely my favorite of the egg dishes. Tomato and eggs typically scare me but the flavors were extremely well balanced. I especially liked using bread to sop up this dish. The cappuccino was average, nothing to write home about but a nice accomplishment to our brunch. It was a bit on the pricey side but what isn't in the DMV. I did feel a bit ripped off that this fish was for three people though. We did get three omelettes but iI don't feel like they actually scaled it for more people. We had to share one banana, only had 4 strawberry slices, and one of cheeses only had 2 slices. I really enjoyed this since it was so different than what I'm used to but with tip and tax everything came to $120 and I really don't feel like we got our values worth. The service was very pleasant. A few things were overlooked such as we didn't get water until we asked a couple times or we originally weren't served bread and had no idea how to eat this at first. We just started picking at the fruit and jams and eventually asked how to eat it all. They then saw their mistake and proceeded to bring us two baskets of bread. Nothing aggregious and very well could just be because they are acclimating to the new business. This is also a bakery where the desserts looked amazing! I would definitely come back to buy a cake or some other baked good. The displays looked scrumptious. The interior was very well lit and beautifully decorated. It was spacey too, not overly crowded. I absolutely do not understand the reviews on yelp for this restaurant. The Google review page has over 2000 reviews at almost 5 stars. I feel like the people on yelp must not have understood that This is the Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant. If you were expecting American cuisine, I guess I can understand the confusion, but this is some of the best Turkish dining I've ever experienced in the United States. The food was incredibly fresh, fragrant, and delicious, and the service was fantastic! My wife got the kavurma skillet, and I got the meat lovers omelette. Both were some of the best we had ever had! First time trying out this place, the inside is inviting and impressive looking desserts, expensive along with the entrees. For the amount they're charging the chicken kabob portion was small and petite. The meat was dry and tough, over cooked not allot of flavor. One thing they did over due was the salad with seasoning which took half the plate. The service wasn't great either, got seated. After 10 minutes we had to call someone about ordering, you'd think at least they'd come by with water or to even ask how we're doing. With expensive unappetizing meal, I thought i would get one of their dessert to dry, the girl handled my pastry fiddling with her face, her lips talking to her co worker while holding onto my pastry, even when taking it out from the glass shelf, nicked the top of the cake to the side door made no mention of it as if I wouldn't notice. We experienced a very long wait and extremely disappointing customer service during our visit. We arrived at 8:30 p.m. and placed an order for three adults and one child. The same person took our order, after our request checked on it, and appeared to be the manager, as he was overseeing the floor and holding a tablet. Even though he was on the floor checking other tables and could clearly see that we were still waiting, he never came to our table. We eventually had to go to him ourselves to ask what had happened to our order. Only then we were told--after more than 30 minutes--that the order had not gone through. He told us that he would bring our food within five minutes. We waited another 10 minutes, but the food never arrived. There was no follow-up, no apology, and no communication. At that point, we stood up and began to leave. The manager saw us as we walked past him, but instead of acknowledging us, he looked at us with visible anger and said nothing. As customers, we should not be met with anger--especially after a mistake made by the restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not catch his name at the time, but I plan to follow up and will update this review once I have it. This review is not about waiting for food. It is about disrespectful, unprofessional, and racially biased behavior, especially from someone in a management role. His actions made us feel ignored and unwelcome. read more

I visited Moda Cafe & Restaurant today for the first time and I was impressed! The ambiance and beautiful design was very warm and inviting. Although they were busy due to the day's celebrations the front host sat us promptly. Our wait staff was very kind and we loved every second of it. We shared the Turkish Breakfast and Turkish Tea. I highly recommend both. We sat and chatted for hours and no one rushed us out. I was very full from the delicious meal. Thanks you Moda for a wonderful first experience. I like that they brought out a basket of bread with a yogurt olive oil dip which was tasty. The grape leaves were pretty good too. This place was recommended by a coworker and would like me review it for him and his family to have some cakes and other desserts. It was a pretty place , but a bit disappointed with the "Sujuk Omelette " it was kinda bland . Turkish espresso was great and strong with 3 pieces of small chocolates to reduce the coffee bitterness. The baklavas is what I'm after even if the cost are quite expensive due to tariff . I'll be back to try their lunch offerings. Last night I had a chance to visit Moda Cafe and restaurant for dinner. It's located a little west of highway 50 (Lee Jackson highway) and 28 intersection. There are about half a dozen other businesses in the same complex, all share the same parking lot. We reached there at around 7 PM and found parking a little away from the restaurant. The place was pretty busy and we had to wait at the front door for about 7 minutes before the server got us seated. As soon as you enter the place, you find yourself in an upscale eatery with seating arrangements in a variety of styles. The place is decorated in modern Middle Eastern style appealing to your eyes. The cafe showcasing various pastries is located on the left hand side of the restaurant for people to walk to and place an order. If you are there for a dining experience, you will have to wait for seating. We were a party of five and were given seats in the right hand corner. We ordered the Trio burgers (3 mini burgers) for the kids which comes with a small basket of fries. Although we added another order of fries but realized that one order was enough for three kids once we received the food. We also ordered their Anatolian meat sampler, which has a variety of chicken, lamb and beef kabobs and chops variety. The burgers came out early and the meat platter was served a little bit later. I was delighted by the nice arrangement of the food but wanted to put it for taste test before giving out my final verdict. I must say, it's one of the best kabobs I've tasted in a long time. The chicken was not charred, yet cooked to perfection all the way inside. So were the lamb and beef kabobs. It had a tomato and a white sauce, that was made fresh and added the flavor to perfection. Overall I was very impressed by the place, its ambiance, their service, the appearance of the food, the quality of the food and its taste. I usually keep my 5 stars for the very best places but am inclined to give it away for this place. I think it's a great addition to the Virginia culinary scene. Downside is the service...some of the waiters kind of just loiter around and the other half look like they don't even want to be there, especially the hostess. Two times I went to this place, I hear people talk about how luxurious the environment feels--and while the ambiance is nice, the service has consistently been disappointing. During my most recent visit, I received the wrong order. The server acknowledged the mistake and told me, "This one's on me; I'll bring your correct order right away." Unfortunately, he never followed through. On top of that, the utensils had a strange, unpleasant smell, which was off-putting. The service overall was chaotic and poorly timed. They brought our meals one by one, with a 15-minute gap between each dish. If the food isn't ready for the whole table, it would be better to wait and bring everything together. The prices are excessive--especially for simple items like soda and tea. For comparison, at the Turkish place at Manassas my craving has the best ! the tea is complimentary. I've also noticed a troubling lack of professionalism from the staff. I have yet to encounter a team member who is genuinely respectful, responsible, or attentive. Instead, I've experienced arrogance and a lack of accountability. My server even tried to pressure me into ordering what he thought was best for me, despite us being a group of four with different preferences. I came to enjoy a meal and spend my money on what I want--not be told what to eat. Worst of all, after I paid and left a tip, the server completely ignored his earlier promise to pack the item I had originally come for. He acted dismissively and seemed to forget all about it once the bill was settled. This was an incredibly frustrating experience, and I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously. read more

I love Turkish cuisine. The food here is fine but the service leaves a lot to be desired. My husband, our friends, and I have been to this place a few times. While we've never had any issues with the food, most of the servers have been rude and inattentive. The last time we went, one of the male servers wouldn't even speak to me--he directed everything to my husband. Even when I asked a question, he responded to him instead of me. Seriously the service is some of the worst I have ever seen, you practically need a flare gun to flag a waiter to take your order, and the servers need to be pressed for you to get basics like silverware, water, and napkins. The servers seem completely overwhelmed and tables sit empty / uncleaned while there is a huge line outside. Getting the bad stuff out of the way, the food is amazing. Very authentic and fresh.
