I've been going here since high school and it's been almost a decade since graduation. Safe to say it's finally time to stop gatekeeping. This place specializes in Korean comfort food. Think soups and rice dishes. I've tried a lot of the menu and I've enjoyed everything. Portions are still quite generous despite inflation. During this recent visit, we got Spicy Squid & Pork Hot Stone Bibimbap, Anchovy Sujebi Soup, Bacon & Cheese Kimbap, and Anchovy Kimbap. Banchan this time was mat kimchi (sliced Napa cabbage) and jangajji (soy sauce pickled radish & jalapeño). The mat kimchi was perfectly tart and crunchy and the soy sauce pickles were also delightfully sweet, savory, and crunchy. Whenever I come here I always get the bacon & cheese Kimbap and some other Kimbap to try because you can taste the love that was put into assembling them. When you come visit you have to try one of the Kimbap! Back during COVID stay at home when I was missing Kami I would order a bunch of Kimbap to go and share with my family. Kami truly is that girl. Here is the ratings for the other food: * Sujebi - 9/10 it comes with potato, sujebi (hand rolled dumplings), onions, and Korean squash in anchovy broth. Sujebi is chewy, potatoes have the perfect texture. You gotta know what you're getting yourself into when you come here: it's not fancy dining--it's homely street food! They offer customizable ddukbokki, which I love, and although it's sweet, it's still decently spicy! It also comes with odeng (fish cake) automatically. Loved the kimbap mari (deep fried seaweed rolls)--another simple, yet classic dish. Their onigiri has good ratio of rice and filling (way better than Mitsuwa's ratios), and they used good quality seaweed! Attention to detail was nice in the bathroom too--plush TP, step garbage can... The service was great, like your favorite aunties checking in on you and making sure everything is up to snuff! What a gem! My partner and I really loved this mom and pop shop. The owners were really sweet and attentive to us. We got the spicy sujebi, kalguksu, and saeng sun jun (Pan-Fried Fish). The noodle dishes don't have a lot of protein, but that's a given. They're delicious, homey, carb-style soups, would be great for hangover soup in my opinion. The hand-pulled noodles and dough were great. Broth for both also hit the spot. My partner and I took turns sharing both! This place seems great for Korean dishes you'd typically find your family cook at home, rather than typical items you'd find in most restaurants - that's what makes it so homey. This is a cute little spot where you can buy Korean bento, side dishes, or enjoy a simple sit down meal. It's not a fancy place more like a cozy mom/pop kind of a place. I always feel welcome when I go. When I'm craving tuna kimbap and hand pulled dough soup, this is my go to. The menu has plenty of options, even though they don't serve as many side dishes as some other Korean restaurants. Kami is simple, and that's part of its charm. This place deserves a moment of your time, as it is one of the few places that takes my father back to his boyhood days on the streets of Daegu. Additionally, I am fairly certain it is one of those restaurants where there is an elderly grandmother making all the dishes in the back, espeically the side dishes! They all have that special homemade taste that takes you back. The kalguksu in particular is something my family cannot talk enough about, but I have to say, their kimbaps, stir-fry's, and jolmyeon noodles are just as tasty and I cannot help but want to return the very next day. read more

For some reason because the plaza is hopping with so many hyped and trendy restaurants, I thought this place was a modern street food concept and hadn't tried it despite living 5 min away. Come to find out they specialize in very humble handmade nuders and hand torn dough, homey classic soups like sujebi, soybean noods, and kalguksu. The stocks are traditional and clean. The restaurant is clean and the service is welcoming. It feels homey, unassuming, no nonsense, and delivers on home style flavors. They have a case of banchan selections to buy and the street food, though yet un-sampled, is definitely classic with rich vibrant rabokki and ttukbokki, ramen soup, gim mari, jeon. A nice and low key place to chat with friends or family alike and definitely an authentic vibe that isn't trying to be fusion or up-charged. The interior has been changed to a more hip and happening bunshik restaurant. It's been painted a light green and they have a banchan store set up at the front where the register is. We came on. Wednesday and it appears that their hours vary day to day. The schedule said they close at 3pm on Wednesdays so please note the schedule before visiting. Their kimbap always hits the spot. The pieces aren't too big and just the right size to pop into your mouth. Their fish cake soup comes in a cute bronze pot. This is so so, not really worth ordering. The owner isn't completely fluent in english but is very sweet and always makes sure my side dishes are filled. I recently returned from a trip to korea and have been searching for a place that serves authentic knife cut and hand torn noodles and was lucky enough to find Kami. Normally, I order either their spicy kalguksu (knife cut noodles) or their kimchi sujebi (hand torn noodles). I love the texture of both their noodles and flavor of their broth. Their soups are light while still being very filling because of their large portions. Their house kimchi is also very delicious but is definitely on the spicer end. This place has become one of my regular spots to return to for warming noodles soups. Due to COVID, my office would cater lunch from this local small business once a week (sometimes multiple times a week!). The employees in our office clearly loved it since we would continuously order from here often. Their food always has an amazing variety and it tastes like home-cooked Korean food. We always ordered the bento boxes, which typically come with a side of soup and seaweed sheets. The bentos are like a surprise every time! The chef always chooses something different for us each week. The banchan, soup, and side dishes always vary. My favorites have been the jjolmyun, cuttlefish kimchi, yeobochubap, kimbap, bossam, and the shrimp tempura! The mackerel here is SO GOOD and definitely my favorite item in the bento. They cook it perfectly and they have minimal bones. I will note... there have been times that there are hairs inside of my bento or soups. This place had been in my bookmarks because I was really craving sujebi, and this was one of the places I found that served it! It has a very hole-in-the-wall vibe, and it was pretty empty when we came for dinner on a Monday evening (we were the only party). I ordered their kaljebi (kalguksu + sujebi) and was not disappointed at all. The broth is the usual anchovy broth that you have with kalguksu, but there were flakes of sujebi included as well. Came here on a weekday night for some Korean eats and although at first this place seemed authentic, it was pretty average. Service however was excellent, so much so that the auntie serving us, helped us pack up our leftovers. We ordered the spicy rice cake with ramen and cheese which was good but tasted over cooked and a little over sauced. The rice cake wasn't the chewy consistency I wanted and the ramen was definitely over cooked. The next day though, the flavors infused and tasted a lot better. The kimchi fried rice was cool cause it came on a sizzling stone but the fried egg itself was alright, and the rice was standard. Let me first start by saying that I'm very picky when it comes to Korean food, only because I've grown up eating it all of my childhood and have traveled to South Korea before. I was craving Korean food so I decided that I would give Kami a shot. I called to order, and the lady on the phone was able to take my order in English/Korean. She said it would be ready in 15 minutes. They are covid cautious and put the items on a table for you to take. They have clean pens and a jar for used pens. Although I don't love spicy tuna, I read so many reviews about the spicy tuna kimbap that I had to order it. They fill these up pretty well and I think the ratio between rice and filling is good. The first one I had was REALLY spicy, but it started to get milder as I ate more (or maybe my mouth was just numb). Overall, good flavor on these and they taste hearty. The fish cake soup is definitely what hit the spot for me. It was piping hot and full of fish cake and fish balls. Flavor was on point and really reminded me of eating street food in Korea. I also got the kimchi fried rice which was probably my least favorite of the meal. It wasn't flavorless, but it was definitely on the blander side. I wish they could've amped up the seasoning and added some sort of protein to it to add some oomph. I ended up putting it in my skillet and adding some spam and more seasoning to heighten the flavor. Overall, the food was hearty enough to satisfy my craving. For the three dishes, it was roughly around $41.00 after tip. Note: on the door they ask for only 1 customer inside at a time which I appreciate because it's not very big in there. Nobody was waiting or inside when I arrived, but I saw all their orders laid out ready for pickup I've been missing Roll House kimbap and the local h mart deli ones do not cut it, so I was excited to find Kami with their plethora of rolls. I narrowed down to the following three (listed in preference order): spicy tuna, bacon jalapeño, and kimchi. They are reasonably priced for the quantity you get. I almost always order the spicy rice cake when I get Korean. Theirs was indeed spicy but not sure I would repeat order as the rice cakes texture and sauce thickness is not the way I like it. This place is my go-to for kimbap in the South Bay. My favorites are their Spicy Tuna Roll and their Kami Roll, which features fish cake, egg, and veggies. During the earlier stages of the pandemic, I'd often grab a few kimbap rolls from Kami, drive to Central Park nearby, and have a socially-distanced picnic with a friend or two. Sometimes we'd get a hefty serving of spicy rice cakes, which made for a great side and dipping sauce for the kimbap. (I owe a lot to this place for keeping me sane during those "unprecedented times"!) I still drop by this place when I'm in the area and recommend it to my friends. We came for lunch on a Friday at noon and were seated immediately. We decided to share a kimchi pork belly kimbap and the kimchi cheese fried rice with bulgogi. While the kimbap was only okay for the price ($11.50), the fried rice was really delicious. It's a bit on the pricey side ($20) but is large enough to feed 2 people. I might be a bit biased since I'm a fan of cheese, but the layer of melted cheese in the middle is a great combination with the kimchi-flavored rice. And since it's served on a hot plate, there's crispy rice on the bottom to add some texture. Overall, I would come back for the fried rice but would probably pass on the kimbap (or try other flavors) since I've had better elsewhere. Great quality food, and very tasty. Prices were reasonable. I got the bulgogi kimchi rice and the Tteokbokki with loads of cheese and ramen. Kimchi was flavorful too. I will definitely be back! Only negative comment is that the tteokbokki came with fish cakes and I don't eat seafood, so it was a very unpleasant surprise and made my tongue itchy. Luckily it was easy to eat around/pull out of the dish. Please mention fish cake on the menu, especially for people with allergies. read more
