I have not been here in probably decadessss. I was very surprised to hear they were still open! My mom suggested this place for a big party we were having and I agreed since they provided a backdrop and variety of food for the meal, making party planning easier. I wasn't expecting much since the reviews weren't stellar and I hadn't been for so long. They accommodated a lot of our requests and were easy to work with. Day of, everything was set up well. They even had a welcome table already placed, which made it super easy to lay out the party favors, activities, and games. A side table was also set up for cake, which we had multiple of, so it was perfect. We also brought serving sizes of our favorite coffee (shoutout to Voyager!) and they accommodated the space. They had multiple options for food. Everyone went back to their tables with mounds of food on their plates. We heard from a lot of people how they enjoyed the food and it was very good. Soft drinks and wine were also readily available. They have a dedicated parking lot in the back. Unfortunately it's not the biggest lot and with our large party, some had to find street parking. Came here for a Friday dinner, it seems to be a slow evening but think most folks were doing take out? the owner and staff were attentive and friendly and let us sit anywhere. i was in the mood for kbbq, so we got their LA Kalbi and Spicy pork set. the banchan, rice and soup came with the dinner set and was served fast which was great since i was hungry. Healthy tasty mix of side dishes and i especially liked their kimchi and fish cakes. They don't do bbq at the table but serve it cooked, the portions were sizeable. Both dishes were solid, but the LA Kalbi was especially good since it was thick and meaty, yet still tender and juicy. We polished off both dishes and were stuffed! Really good Korean restaurant. We went off hours so it wasn't busy at all. The service was excellent. All the dishes are prepared fresh so the meals are customizable if you have allergies. My friend has a garlic allergy and they were able to prepare our dishes without garlic. The restaurant looks sophisticated on the inside the ambiance is great! Good food, friendly staff, and no wait. Prices are a little higher and the restaurant looks a little aged, but main attraction is the food. Good food, but rude and racist waitress. My wife and I came to Korean Palace for dinner at 8:00pm. After ordering our meals, we were served banchan as we waited. The banchan were good, but we made the mistake of putting the plates on top of each other which seemed to anger the waitress. Instead of explaining why this upset her, she told us she would no longer serve us anymore banchan. She then said we must be Chinese or something, making the situation confusingly racist as neither my wife and I are Chinese. The food took over 30 minutes to come out, so we didn't get the food until around 8:45pm. We were then not given enough time to eat and promptly kicked out of the restaurant at 9:00pm with a "bye bye." This was an unfortunate experience because we actually enjoyed the food, but the waitress's behavior ruined the experience. read more

We went on a weekday night and there was plenty of seating. Staff was very friendly and food was great. We ordered the dinner for 4 set and we were happy with everything. It's hard to find a Korean restaurant on this side of town so if you feel like eating Korean, give this place a try. read more

The food is excellent, I ordered the Gyoza, and the spicy pork. Both were made very well, but I would argue that the pork could have been much spicier. The kimchi selection was excellent as well, but could've also been spicier. Restaurant looked lovely, and felt very cozy. Service was decent too, but the wait was a bit long. The food here is trash. I saw a cockroach while dinning here and left. On top of that the old asian owner is rude to the point where he was yelling at another customer for parking in front of his business outside in the parking lot as I was walking by. When a business owner is like this his business never thrives. There and many more Korean/asian small businesses who serve better food and have a cleaner kitchen and are way more nicer to anyone in the establishments parking lot. Both my husband and I love Korean cuisine and have visited several Korean restaurants in San Jose. This is the only restaurant of which we have frequented that I felt I was being served an authentic Korean dish. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions generous and the service very friendly. I only took two pictures because I simply had to start eating. I'll take more pictures on our next visit. Unlike the new trendy restaurants the Korean Palace's atmosphere is very old-style homey. After all, I am not going into a restaurant to admire its fancy lighting fixtures but to be given great meal which is what we received. We ate well. The price was well worth it. Korean Palace is now our favorite and our go-to Korean Restaurant. read more

This place has been around since I was a little kid growing up the South Bay in the 80s. Recently I organized a catered buffet lunch after a burial and the service by the owner, Daniel, was excellent. He was transparent about the pricing and value and everything went smoothly. We ordered for 85 people and only 35 showed up so they provided ample to go boxes, which we super appreciated. The banquet room has been the place of many celebrations, including first birthdays. There's ample parking in the back. We were allowed to hang out a bit after we ate, which we appreciated (lunch was supposed to start at noon but most people got there by 1 and we left around 330). The food was excellent - especially the tang su yuk and fried shrimp. It reminded me of my childhood. All the food was really good. I want to come back and bring my kids here to eat! One annoyance that gets honorable mention is the plate police lady who was kind of rude (the one who scoops the rice). I understand she's counting plates but several guests mentioned it. She was only nice at the end, once we passed out extra rice cake so I guess we should've given it to her earlier . She seemed like she was in a hurry and didn't want to serve us food (no eye contact, no smiles, just annoyed gestures at our guests who had just attended a burial in the rain, some who had flown out of town for this). They weren't short staffed that day as it wasn't that busy on a rainy Tuesday lunch. Korean Palace is an authentic and delicious Korean restaurant and BBQ in the SF Bay Area., as Christine Y., another Yelp Reviewer, says here, they serve and prepare food how a Korean mom would with great ingredients and care. My family and I have come here for years, had even become regulars and friends with the waitresses with our Korean and non Korean friends or on our own and everyone has left full, happy and in a good mood. The good: This is a perfect spot to throw a family gathering or party. It has everything you need and the food was superb. My family and I reserved the banquet room for a Celebration of Life event. It's $45/person and they have a preset menu that consists of 8 entrees as well as coffee for dessert. I liked how easy it was to book the spot. At first, they said we needed to put down a 20% deposit but afterward said they could forgo it if we were certain that we'd be hosting the event. Manager Daniel was easy to reach and was great about answering questions. The spot was perfect for our event because everything is setup for you (food, projector, screen, stage, microphone, tables, and chairs). It made it easy for us to plan a last-minute event with ease. Daniel also let us come in advance to test our equipment with the projector for a slideshow and Zoom meeting we wanted to have. The manager said I needed to give a headcount one week prior to the event so he could order food but our headcount dropped due to COVID concerns and he was flexible with it and adjusted the count despite the fact that the event was to take place in less than 7 days. The food was excellent. The dishes included a pork patty, pajeon, a spicy squid dish, japchae, kim chi, a green sprout, bean sprouts, ribs, and an orange chicken-like dish. The ribs had an almost coconuty flavor to it that I really liked. The meat was tender and now chewy. The pajeon was cute nicely into squares so it made it easy to self serve. This place also has its own private parking lot in the back. The bad: I was told the corkage fee was $15 but they charged us $20. They didn't give us the coffee during the banquet. Perhaps, we had to request it? I don't think the heat from the chafing dishes were on (unless I am mistaken). The bathroom was a bit messy. The tablecloth on the entrance way where we put up photos and memorabilia was a bit stained/dirty. The interesting: The interior decor is fancy with baroque-style dining chairs and granite tables. A 19% service fee is already included in the total price if you order the banquet room. read more

This is a very nice and underrated place. The place is big. You can easily accommodate a bigger party, just give them a heads up. Service was courteous and attentive. Not too much, not too little. Food was delicious traditional dishes. Banchan was good and plentiful, server even asked if we wanted more. I had spicy pork which was delicious. The portion size was right on the money too. Ambience is more on the quiet side if you want a break from the busy and loud places on Friday evening. Bulgogee and bimimbab were other dishes we tried and they were also very good and as expected. If you shop at Valley Fair Mall, just exit onto Forest street and it whizzes you under a big street and take a left and you'll be on the back side of the restaurant. Less than 2 minutes! The staff super friendly and attentive. The food super authentic! Had the raw marinated crab with a yummy house radish soup! Old school mom and pop shop... let's support them! Not new and fancy with Instagram wall... don't need that when all you need is easy drive, free parking, and great food and staff! And the beer in a super chilled beer mug . My only major concern with this place is due to issues of price/value. The food and service was pretty good, but did seem more expensive than the food warranted. That said in the pandemic age and inflationary period (especially for beef products) I can understand the crunch so I temper this with a good heaping of salt. My brother and I ordered a Beef Japchae and Yuk Gai Jang (beef noodle soup). Side dishes galore, as is typical for your Korean sit-down fare (no pics before due to a rather hungry entry, so I shall spare a mid-meal shot). The food quality was perfectly fine and hearty (soup was nice and spicy, to my brother's dismay), the side dishes tasted fresh / well-fermented and a good spread from leafy greens to fish cake and kimchee. Service was prompt and polite. I have full confidence if you take a meal here you'll be well fed and taken care of. However the prices seem...a bit much. More than 6 dollars more per dish than I was expecting to be frank (about 22-23 for these dishes), and remarkably more so for their BBQ options. Their website doesn't quite reflect the (higher) prices I saw in store, so this must be a recent shift. The price of entry might be high, but it's not like I didn't enjoy the food and service, hence my mixed feelings on this. read more

I know some folks might find the rude, but I think that is just a language issue. One of the older Korean waitress would say things repeatedly.. like "yeah yeah yeah".. Some might think she is being rude, but that is really how she talks and how she was expressing her urgency to take care what you asked for. The food.. depends on what you ordered. Used to come here for birthday celebrations in the big back room, and recently came back for another birthday celebration in front. Our party of 20+ were seated at 3 long tables which was convenient. Our table of 10 ordered various dishes, seafood pancakes, fried juns, king fish, jap chae, spicy rice cake, neng myun, rice cake dumpling soup, and several orders of meat. The seafood pancake came out first, and it tasted like it was pre-made and just reheated. It was by far the worst pancake I've ever tasted, it was practically all egg and stale. When I asked for our side dishes, I was rudely told it was coming, when all the other tables had it already. All the other dishes were lackluster, and small portions. The meat....the unmarinated beef was frozen. Chicken, I didn't bother eating. Overall, this is an OG Korean restaurant, but there are many that have better flavors and service. read more
