Do you ever watch Korean Dramas and see lots of foods you've never heard of? Well fear not, because at Seoul Bulgogi located at 1290 S Bascom Ave, San Jose, CA 95128, you will find them here. The restaurant is family owned and has been open for about 6 months and is designed for primarily take out. However, it does have a small dining area (see picture) which can support 14 patrons. The business is kept clean and full table service is available, Austin, my server, was attentive, polite and had a great attitude. He walked me through the menu and made recommendations. The ambience is fine for the family. I had the SB Beef Bulgogi, which was tender beef properly seasoned. All the meals come with a great little salad and home made sesame dressing (delicious), and tender glass noodles. Crunchy Breaded Pork that was not greasy and tasted great. Kimchi fried rice with chicken was excellent, although a bit on the spicey side. I sampled their home made kimchi (a small added charge) which tasted so much fresher, flavorful, and better than the complimentary ones I usually get at other restaurants. Their kimchi is a must when you visit. They also had soups, which looked great but I didn't try. The selection of bottle and canned energy drinks was impressive (22 total) including my favorite, Sprite Zero and Jarritos. No bobba drinks yet, although all of the equipment is there to make them. Great lunch specials are available but no desserts. I really enjoyedy my time there and of course, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant!

We had a good start with our server, Kolby. He was friendly at the beginning, the food came out, and everything seemed fine. Then my girlfriend and I had a small argument. Kolby came over to check if everything was okay, which I appreciated. However, we were in the middle of a personal disagreement, and there really wasn't anything he could do other than give us some space. My girlfriend and I decided it would be best to leave, even though we had only taken a few bites of our meal. She went out to the car while I stayed behind to get to-go boxes and pay the bill. I asked Kolby for some to-go containers, and he went to get them. While I was standing at the counter, I noticed another family sitting nearby talking about me and staring at me. I was still upset from the argument with my girlfriend, so I confronted them and said, "What are you looking at? Please don't stare at me." At that point, I could hear Kolby saying he was getting the boxes. He then came back out, overheard me speaking to the family, and firmly told me, "I'm getting the boxes." I responded, "I wasn't talking to you. I just wanted the boxes." He repeated himself even more firmly while staring at me intensely and becoming visibly red in the face. It felt unnecessarily confrontational. I simply replied, "Okay, I just want the boxes." Meanwhile, my girlfriend was still waiting outside by herself. I got the boxes, paid the bill, packed up the food, and left. I wasn't planning to leave a negative review because I support small, local businesses. However, after my interaction with Kolby, I decided to share my experience. To add some context, the argument my girlfriend and I were having was related to the issue shown in the attached photo. I mentioned it to Kolby when I paid the bill, but he seemed to brush it off and appeared only mildly surprised. I wasn't expecting a free meal, but even a small gesture--such as a 10% discount or a sincere acknowledgment of the issue--would have gone a long way toward showing good customer service.

At first, I thought this place didn't have enough reviews to be sure if it was good and BOY WAS I WRONG. This place is fantastic! The value is one of my favorite parts. Both the beef and pork bulgogi were cooked well, the rice was good, and the TTEOK-BOKKI was one of my favorites ever! The kimchi itself also had some kick, and after asking I found out the chef comes in really early every day to make it. The young man working service was really sweet to every single person in there, definitely made us feel welcome. This is definitely a little hidden gem, but hopefully they grow and stop being "hidden"!

Seoul Bulgogi fills a neat niche I didn't know needed filling! Very casual but good quality Korean eats that ends up good bang for your buck. More akin to a bento-box spot, except for bulgogi over rice. Since it's their soft opening, they don't quite have boba (yet) but food is a hit in my book. Excellent choice for a fast meal with some cute Kpop in the background and it helps that staff (and owner!) really do care deeply about their customer experience. There's some limited seating inside (about 5 tables of 2-4), if you needed a spot to chillax. Condiments and table settings are clean and organized so nothing amiss here. This'll be a great spot for grab and go in the future, especially since in this part of town there aren't too many Asian options. Side salad is simple, but the ginger sesame dressing tasted pretty fresh! Japchae side with the bulgogi was also solid. Mainstay of the bulgogi was tender and seasoned pretty well. I'm a fan of their pork bulgogi, but it does have a moderate spicy kick to it. The beef that my brother got was just as good from what I tried. Good portion size that's just right and leaves you plenty full.

A friend and I wanted to stop somewhere on the way to our destination, and I remember seeing Seoul Bulgogi that opened not that long ago. The place was very small but very clean. They were having a soft opening at the time and had paper menus. We got seated right away since it wasn't busy. I got the Red & Hot Pork Bulgogi Rice Bowl that came with a small portion of glass noodles, a green salad with sesame dressing, and kimchi. It was very good and hit the spot. The pork was not that spicy at all. They have a wide variety of canned sodas and drinks in the refrigerator. I will come back and try their other dishes.

Great food! Can't comment on whether or not it's super authentic compared to more traditional Korean restaurants, but nonetheless still enjoyable. Went during their soft opening so they do have a limited menu. I'm curious to see how they grow. Plate presentation was also gorgeous! Clean, comfortable restaurant. Friendly welcome and service. Kolby served us and was absolutely wonderful. Next time we're in San Jose, we definitely want try here again and see their growth.

I stopped in here for a quick bite before my work shift and I was not disappointed. Don't let the small hole in the wall vibes fool you. These are often the best places to eat . I ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork. I needed something soft to eat like a rice bowl with egg because I had a swollen side of my mouth that made it difficult to eat. Food/Price: The Kimchi Fried Rice was super tasty! My server who I think was the owner recommended I get it with pork which I did. It came with a salad appetizer which I loved! And then when the entree came out it also came with soba noodles (pictured). I also ordered a bottled water. When the bill came out it was only $19 and some change which is such a steal for everything you get. Highly recommend!! Service: This is what really inclined me to write this review. The owner was so kind and hospitable. You can tell he really cares about his customers which was very touching. He checked in to make sure I liked the food and when I asked for a box he was wondering why I barely touched it (because I had a lot left). It seemed as if he wanted to make sure I liked it and was taken care of. I told him it was becsuse I can only eat so much due to my wisdom tooth growing in and it hurt to eat. As I was leaving he handed me some ice for my mouth and I thought that was so sweet. He had a warming presence which really made my experience. Highly recommend coming in to support this small business!!

The service is quick and the food only takes around 10~ minutes because it's fresh! That's how you know it's the best, and the main waiter has impeccable customer service. Even with the soft opening, this place will definitely grow with time!

Beef bulgogi, beef and radish soup, and kimchi taste.

Had lunch here on a Saturday (we were their first customers of the day). Looks like the business is very new or the ownership recently changed (soft grand opening signs). Service was excellent (Kolby/server was a masters student at SJSU). Very attentive and checked in with us. Dining area was small/cozy and clean. It looks like they probably do mostly takeout business. Food was okay. We ordered the beef bulgogi, beef and radish soup and kimchi taste. Note: This restaurant does not sense banchon IMHO, the kimchi was too salty. Beef bulgogi tasted like the meat wasn't fresh or was cooked in the blood. Seasoning was okay, but meat was gamey. Beef soup was the same, meat was gamey. So probably not particularly fresh. Portion of bulgogi and rice was decent. The japchae that comes with beef bulgogi was tasty enough and more like a small banchon portion. The bulgogi also comes with a salad that good size, with miso dressing served on the side (nice that the salad is drenched). Would I come back here... maybe For the price point, speed of service and on a weekday, maybe. There's so many really good K restaurants in SJ.

I'm glad I did and was definitely delighted by the experience. Hot Stone Bibimbap 5/5: There was a review on Yelp saying that there was no crunchy rice at the bottom and that it was bland. As a fellow Korean, let me give you some advice. Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. You'll have to wait a bit if you go during peak hours and parking is a bit difficult. I suggest going within the first hour they open up when there's less crowds.

For the cold noodles, it was pretty refreshing and a bit light in flavor. It came in a icy vinegary broth with noodles, half a boiled egg, pickled daikon and some pieces of galbi (short rib). For the spicy buckwheat cold noodles, it had much more flavor, had a gochujang base, and thicker. It came with half a boiled egg, pickled daikon and pieces of galbi. We ordered the beef soup and the appetizer short ribs, which is about 6 pieces. The sides were good, special shout out to the warm jjapchae! The short ribs came out sizzling, and had a great char with a sweet soy sauce flavor. Meat was tender and had the perfect chew to it, such a comfort meal with the rice. The beef soup came boiling, and there was a generous amount of beef, mushrooms, and tofu. The only complaint I have is the soup ratio was less than what I'm used to so about halfway through the pot there wasn't much soup left to pour onto the rice the way I normally do. But that's not a bad thing, means you're getting more protein! Service was great, but it's a bit expensive from what I'm used to so I docked a star. I'll check out other places and see if this is just the normal pricing for the area.

I ordered the bibimbap pork rice. When it was brought to me, the waitress told me they were out of the sauce so it was very bland. Also to know they were sold out of seafood, squid, and bulgogi bibimbap. Half of the menu items were not available. There were also only 2 Bachan dishes. Kimchi and broccoli. Very disappointed.

The first two times were great -- they served a wide variety of banchan and the seafood tofu soup was packed with fresh shrimp, clams, octopus, mussels, and squid. My daughter also loved the galbijjim. On our third visit, we arrived right at 5 PM and were told they would open shortly because the cook was on lunch. We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better. Based on our recent experiences, we will not be returning anytime soon.

We were just looking for some quick bites, so we ordered a seafood pancake and meat jun to share. Both of these were very generous portions. The seafood pancake had a nice light crisp, and was full of seafood and green onion, while the meat jun game on a bed of fresh cabbage and was full of tender, sweet and flavorful bulgolgi. We really enjoyed both with the banchan! Danbi has some great offerings, and I'll definitely try to come again to try some of the entrees and other things when I'm in the area and looking for a full meal!

I would have given 5 stars but knocking off two stars due to poor service with one of the servers…read more I've been coming to this restaurant for many years, dating back to the previous owners, who were always warm and welcoming. I have many fond memories of dining here. The food is still excellent. We ordered the tofu and chicken bubbling soup along with the bibimbap, and everything was delicious. The quality of the food is definitely a reason I would return. Unfortunately, the service was very inconsistent. There were two servers during our visit. One was incredibly kind, professional, attentive, and welcoming. She checked on us, offered more side dishes, and was very sweet with my six-year-old son. I even thanked her personally at the end of the meal because her hospitality stood out. The other server, however, made the experience uncomfortable. From the moment we arrived, there was no warm greeting -- we were simply asked how many were in our party. We were seated at a very small table, and when I politely asked if we could move to a larger one since we were ordering multiple dishes with sides and I had my young son with me, she looked visibly annoyed. Throughout the meal, she kept making faces when I asked normal questions about the menu or requested an extra to-go box. These were simple customer requests, and her reactions felt rude and unnecessary. I also noticed that several other reviews mention a woman making faces during service, and based on my experience, I believe this may be the same server. That kind of behavior really affects the dining experience and should be addressed by management. Hospitality matters, especially in a restaurant setting. Good food is important, but customers should also feel welcome and respected. Overall, I would come back because the food was delicious, and the other server was genuinely lovely. However, I hope the owner takes the service concerns seriously. If I return, I would likely ask to be seated with the kind server who made us feel welcome.
