DONT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE THICK HAIR AND WANT A DECENT CUT. Came in for a hair cut desiring a longer bob-like cut with long bangs. I have thick hair but the person they sat me down with (Shae) had no experience cutting thick hair like mine. She said I had the most hair she had ever dealt with in a client. I started getting anxious immediately after that. She used what I call the butcher scissors to thin my hair out which has left my hair frayed and frizzy, did very little layering or actual cutting, and to this day I have to straighten my hair every day to even look decent enough to leave the house. I also came in for a color consult and Shae said basically that I would be spending thousands of dollars and it would take me years to get to the color I want because of the box dye I've been using for years. She was just warning me she said. Apparently the owner heard this conversation because she reached out to me after I left to offer the color but with another artist. I told her that I wasn't happy with the cut and I wouldn't be coming back and she basically left me on read. No apology. No response. If you are a professional salon you should know your employees strengths and weakness not just try to fill a chair. You should ask what kind of hair you have over the phone and sit them down with someone who knows what they are doing especially charging $75 for a cut. And you should at least act concerned when a customer expresses their unhappiness with the the service they receive at your salon. For those reasons I give them a one star. read more

I scheduled a facial and hair cut here and they got me in the same day. My facial was great by Michelle. Next I got my hair cut by Kiara. She washed my hair, cut it, and curled it. The conversation was nice, but at the end she stated "I guarantee my work for one week so if you find something let me know." Well I thought that was odd because as a cosmetologist or barber the finished product should be your best work and there shouldn't be anything to "guarantee" if you're good at what you do. Well I went home and showered and I was able to see how bad my hair cut really was. See the attached picture. I showed my mother, who is a barber but out of state and she couldn't believe what she was seeing. I decided to go ask for a refund because due to the damage already done I was not going to have her "fix" it because I did not trust her work and I was going to have to go pay another person to fix it. I initially went in when they opened and the lady at the counter said she was not there I then asked to speak with a manager who was conveniently sitting right next to her. He then asked me what was wrong, but was not even looking at me. I was explaining to him that I was dissatisfied with the service I received and that I would like a refund. He offered for someone else to fix it, but due to the damage already done at this salon I wanted no one working there to touch my hair. He then told me all the workers are independent contractors and he couldn't issue me a refund. He stated I would have to come back when Kiara got to work and speak with her. She attempted to contact me via phone, but I did not get the message because I was already on my way to the salon again. When I arrived she asked what the problem was and I explained to her that I was dissatisfied with the haircut and would like a refund. She then offered to fix it or have someone else fix it. Considering the poor quality cut I received in the first place I was not going to have anyone at this particular salon touch my hair again. She stated she would give me $15 back out of the $80 I paid because that's what the cut alone is, even though on the sign it says that a woman's hair cut is $60. She stated since she provided me the services of a wash and style that these were $45. She was adamant that she still provided services even though I explained to her I would have to go get it all redone at another salon due to her poor workmanship. She stated that was my choice and that she offered for someone else to fix it. Now this makes no sense being an "independent contractor" because if she is then why would another "independent contractor" fix my hair, but I could only be refunded by her. They're "independent contractors" when it is convenient for them not having to provide a refund and having another one fix their mistakes. At one point she stated that I was "taking food out of my children's mouths" which I believe to be a very low thing to say and it goes both ways as well. She also stated that having another person to fix my hair was her policy, which I pointed out to her that her "policy" was no where posted in the salon. Eventually the owner of the salon came over and looked at my hair. She offered to fix my hair, but I kindly declined due to the bad haircut in the first place. She stated that it was also policy that someone else can fix the hair which I also informed her that it was no where posted. Kiara then stated she had verbally told me the policy, however, that never occurred other than her saying she "guarantees her work." She kept saying she would give me $15, but I felt this was unfair due to everything that had occurred up to this point. I explained to her that if she was unwilling to give me the $80 back I would take her to small claims court. She said go ahead and she would give me the $15. I then stated if she would give me the $15 plus the $20 I tipped her I would leave and we could drop it. She was not done being argumentative though and stated she had already tried to compromise with me, which I see no compromise in the aforementioned. I explained to her my compromise was saying she could refund me the $35. She gave me the money in cash, but made sure to film everything on her phone for proof apparently. Now I like to look for the life lesson in bad situations and I'll say this. It was a blessing in disguise that she gave me a terrible hair cut because I met a lady named Lynne today who works at Posaré Salon in Summerlin. This lady is a saint and fixed my hair. She was pleasant, experienced, and didn't even have to guarantee her work because she's a TRUE PROFESSIONAL. Now as for Kiara I hope this is a lesson for her as well. Sometimes you have to set aside your pride and accept that we're not always going to do the best work, but if we ensure the customers happy at the end of the day these reviews wouldn't happen. It's not only a bad look for her, but also the salon she works at even though they're all "Independent Contractors." read more

I brought a groupon for a haircut style, scalp scrub and conditioning treatment, what I got was a fast shampoo and conditioning, no scalp scrub. And I don't think there was any conditioning treatment. I understand I have thick hair, but I honestly could not see the layers in my hair, and the only style I got was a fast blow dry and was left with frizzy hair, I don't know if you can even consider that a style. But I asked for bangs and face framing and my bangs were too short and I could not see any framing. And was told that if I wanted my hair straightened u would have to pay more. I guess no styling at all I guess. But overall what I got was a haircut I was completely unsatisfied with. I guess you get what you pay for. I got my hair done by Jo he is the manager there. My hair is curly and often difficult to cut because it starts to curl as it dries. She was AMAZING!!! She took the time to ask me about my hair routine, gave me awesome suggestions and took the time to show me different styling techniques for my curly hair. Ok, so.. I had been going to the same stylist for over 10 years and when he became I'll and stopped doing hair I was so nervous to go out of my comfort zone and put my trust in a brand new stylist. I absolutely love this place!!!! It is so hard for me to go and get my hair done because I have had so many bad experiences with getting my hair done in the past. So, I have been one of those people that cut my own hair, dye my own hair, style, etc. and from time to time I would try a new salon out. I decided it was that time and was scrolling through Groupon when I saw this coupon for a shampoo, cut & deep conditioning for like $29, so I purchased it. I got there and was greeted by everyone and it was a very nice atmosphere. The front desk let me know Brooke would be right with me. She got done with her other client, came up and let me know also that she would be right with me. She cleaned up her station and then came to get me, with such a huge personable, beautiful smile. Immediately made me feel comfortable. She started talking with me, asked me what I was thinking about with my hair and all that. She washed & deep conditioned my hair and gave me the absolute best head massage I have ever had. I was so surprised when I was laying there getting my hair conditioned and all of a sudden I just felt so relaxed and at ease and so good. I had never had that at a salon when getting my hair done. AMAZING!!!! She did her thang and cut my hair, blow dried it, styled it, we had good fun conversation and then it was done. It came out so freaking awesome! I've never been treated so unprofessionally before. I went inside the salon once to talk about pricing for possibly coloring my brunette hair into a subtle rose gold/pink color. I met a man in the front who went to the back to talk to someone about me. He brought me over to her and she was getting her nails done but she still gave me some of her time. She introduced herself as Jen. Since she was busy and I didn't have signal in the area so I couldn't show her the picture of what I wanted, we exchanged phone numbers and decided I'd send her the pictures later on. I sent her the picture the next day and she gave me pricing like I requested! I was very, very excited. She asked me to follow them on Instagram after the conversation which gave me an opportunity to see some of the work they've done! Looked through the website too and saw that Jen was actually the owner and it made me so much more hopeful that the process was going to be simple and easy. A couple days later though, I started thinking about how damaged my hair was probably going to be because I was trying to go so light. I was... terrified... but I've been contemplating on this procedure for more than a year now. I knew some people who had done a similar procedure and they all had to get their hair to WHITE. I thought I could trust my almost-hair-stylist, but I was completely wrong. Out of a little fear and nervousness, I decided to ask Jen a couple of my questions and to see what she was planning on doing to my hair. When I mentioned, "Are you going to have to make my hair white first?" She said, "No that would heavily damage your hair! We just have to make it blonde." With that response, I felt a lot better that I wouldn't have to go so white, so I asked her, "Oh okay! Since I WANT a blondish-pink color, a blonde undertone would be good right? And then you're going to dye it pink?" And this is where it all turned bad. Her exact response after this was, "I don't think this is going to work out. I have been doing hair for 15 years, people trust me to do their hair. I can't have a client that wants to do it themselves and control everything." Then I explained to her how I was feeling and that I was just nervous and I was sorry for being difficult. THEN she replies, "Sorry, I'm not interested in having you as my client." SERIOUSLY? THIS IS MY HAIR. I should know what the hell you're doing to it. What? You expect me to sit back and just say, "Here, I want my hair to look like this picture" and then boom. Especially when it requires HEAVY bleaching? I understand that she knows more than me, she's supposed to be a professional, WHICH IS WHY I ASKED HER MY QUESTIONS IN THE FIRST PLACE. Never even went in for ONE service and I was treated with this egotistical response just because she thought I was trying to step over her work. Thanks but no thanks. I'd definitely recommend this place to people who don't want to know anything about what's happening to their hair, and also, don't ask questions unless you want her to just straight up tell you, "No, not gonna deal with you because you're difficult." I mean, regardless of 5+, 10+, or even 50+ experience, keeping customers informed is just courtesy and nice. read more

This is my first visit to Mode the location is nice and in a convenient spot. I came because Euphoria on Decatur closed and my stylist, Ashley, is now located at Mode. Ashley is WONDERFUL!!!! I would follow her anywhere she is so great at color. I get black with blue tint for my hair and she knows exactly what I like and helps me with little tricks to keep my color looking vibrant longer! At my last visit she noticed that my hair was thinning and asked me what I was doing different, she assisted me in knowing what to do to fix my hair and now my hair is MUCH BETTER! I was so excited to hear the salon was going to be updating its looks and accommodations but now that its complete.....What the heck did they do? Its so dark that the color of your hair looks dreadful until you go outside. How can a stylist expect to get tipped or repeat customers when the client is looking at their hair color at the station next to olive drab and creamy tan walls and no station lightning?
