I had a problem with my laptop that kept causing it to have blue screen errors for a few years. I visited nearby laptop repair shops, but all they did was replace my hard drive thinking that was the problem without any real diagnosis because my laptop is a rare brand (Huawei). But with this place, I was glad that they took the time to look through and diagnose that my laptop had a hardware issue and decided to not only clean my laptop's fan, but they also applied thermal paste to help cool my laptop. We recieved great customer service and MC fixed my computer so fast for a reasonable price.

My computer was on the brink of going out when the hard drive finally took a dump. I was able to run a diagnostic report and received a code that the hard drive was about to go bad as well as the video card. I ordered a hard drive and the recovery disk from HP to get it back up and running. I was having issues with reinstalling the OS and that's when I decided to take my computer to Modern Computer. I shopped around and found that they were the most reasonable to do the job. I had used them about 10 years ago and had a very good experience my last time there. So I decided to use them again. I dropped my Computer off on a Thursday afternoon and they told me I would have it back the following day. I received a call saying that they were running into some issues with the video card on Friday and they were working on it diligently to get it done. They called me on Saturday to come pickup my computer. I had to work that day so I couldn't pick it up until Monday. I arrived Monday morning to pick it up and it was all ready to go. My video card was heating up and causing issues so they gave me the option to leave it in or replace it with a new one, or just use the VGA port until I was ready to install a HD video card. I decided to go with the VGA port for now. They were nice enough to give me a new cable at no charge to get my computer up and running when I got home. I must say I was very happy with my experience once again. They were in contact and giving me updates as to what was going on with my computer the whole time. I received my computer in the time frame they mentioned. They said I would have my computer back and running better than before... They delivered! I would not hesitate to go back for future computers issues or refer them to family or friends... Once again, I had a very professional and courteous experience. read more

I came here to get my computer checked out, i accidentally unplugged the power connector to the power switch on the motherboard as i was cleaning it, I didn't know anything about computers back then and he was charging me $80 JUST TO LOOK AT IT! because he said that I might have damaged another component, he wouldn't touch it til I give him $80! When they can't figure out the problem they just blame it on a virus. #3 "What is with some people that think that you should accept gracefully that a person wants to haggle with you labor fees may be in your country of origin you have to haggle and ask for DISCOUNT DISCOUNT DISCOUNT" I said nothing about a DISCOUNT. I didn't want to pay anything because when I got it home it had the SAME PROBLEM. It didn't boot. It was never fixed! He wanted me to pay for not fixing the problem. I finally agreed to $80.00 because he wouldn't give me my PC back. #4 "try to get a discount from your church. Or doctor and you may find them touchy about it also, no one in this industry guarantees software repairs because the end user can format the hard disk just by issuing the command." O.k. Took my dead Acer Aspire laptop there for repair 2 months ago. A week later the owner,the tough old man,said he do not want to spend any more of his time after he tried replacing the mother board w/out success. When I came to pick up my still dead laptop,he charged me the: LOOK AT IT FEE of $89.00....Only after I said that I will file a complain w/the BBB,and to the court if necessary..then he dropped the ridiculous fee. I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO GET MY COMPUTER BACK!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO THIS PLACE. THEY DO NOT GIVE PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AND THEY LACK THE EXPERTISE TO DO THE SERVICE CORRECTLY... AND THE WORST PART... IF THEY MESS UP YOUR COMPUTER... THEY DON'T CARE. The store owner is an arrogant, stubborn, old man that doesn't know much about fixing computers. I originally went there just to buy a SATA cable. I just needed a SATA cable because I was having issues installing OS on my new SSD. I tested the drive and it was ok, so I assumed it could be the cable. I told the owner I needed a cable and he went into a spiel about "having 30 years experience". He said he would have it fixed in about an hour or two... so I basically said screw it I'll just pay this guy to install a cable. 4 hours later I gave him a call because I hadn't heard from him yet. He told me he tried calling me a few times and left messages. I said I didn't receive any messages or missed calls. He told me I'm mistaken because he called me several times and started to tell me my phone number. I told him he was calling the wrong person and that is not my phone number. He then repeated it to me again as if I didn't know my own phone number. I said nope not my number. He then apologized and told me he put the wrong number in his phone. The next part is what BLOWS MY FRIGGIN MIND!!!! They uninstalled both of my drives (HD and SSD) and installed on of his SSD. My normal HD was in it normal spot, and the SSD was installed where the optical drive (DVD) was. Also, he put his SSD in the spot where my HD was. We started to argue, but I really didn't want to get into it with him. He's definitely no expert, but will claim to have 30 years experience. He explained why he did what he did but I kept having to reiterate that it was not what I had asked for. He said my options were to buy the SSD he installed and to return the two other drives in my iMac because they were defective (even though they're not)... or come and pick my iMac up in it's disassembled state. Trying to keep the frustration down, I said I'll come and pick it up. Then he said I couldn't pick it up because his technicians went home and he can't remove his SSD drive. I told him I'm on my way and he better figure it out or I'll remove it myself. He said, "fine.. come pick it up as is." When I got there he told me he can't remove the SSD and I won't be able to get my iMac back until Monday and he wouldn't let me remove it. At that point I had enough nonsense and called the police. Yup, I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO GET MY COMPUTER BACK. He went info full scumbag mode once I called the police.. started making mild threats telling me he was ex-military and could "do things" to me if he wanted. I laughed in shear amazement of what he said. I told him we could can go outside if he wants to show me what he's talking about. He then said "It's your lucky day, I'm going to teach you a lesson," but then sat down and proceeded to do nothing. I laughed again and told him that his bark is louder than his bite and if he ever wants to hang out he has my number. Then he told me I was trespassing on his property and that I needed to leave his store at once. I refused because my iMac is in his possession and I'm simply here to pick it up, which is something he told me to do. Next, he calls the police to tell them I'm trespassing and to leave the store. Trying not to escalate the situation I walk outside and wait for the police. The BS didn't work on the cops and he couldn't tell them they were trespassing. The owner ended up removing his SSD and I got my iMac back. I was finally let back in the store to grab my iMac (in a dismantled state) and the owner kept jabbin at the lips again. The cop was even annoyed by it and told him that those details don't matter anymore... I was ignoring the owner at that point. I noticed my RAM had been tampered with. I asked the owner why he tampered with my RAM because it has nothing to do with the service requested. He went into the "I've been doing this for 30 years..." spiel. I told him someone with 30 years experience should know checking RAM has nothing to do with the service requested. I proceeded to check to make sure that the RAM in my iMac was in fact my RAM...which it was. But I wouldn't put it past this guy to swap someones RAM. Especially after reading other comments on yelp. I got home and resembled my iMac and noticed the SATA (the connector part) was damaged. The prongs were bent and part of the plastic was broken. read more

DO NOT TRUST THESE THIEVES!!!! recently my laptop went through some hardware damage, i decided to give this hell hole a shot since i didnt have the time to do it myself. the old guy running the shop seemed really nice so i thought i would leave it to him and get the problem fixed. So i took in my laptop for a simple hardware repair that was supposed to take no more than a week. Finally, 3 weeks later i get my computer back. so being the conscious customer, i try to check if it is all working well before i leave the store. as i boot up my computer the damn geezer (i think he is the owner) starts giving me crap and yelling at me "WE DIDNT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE. YOU NEVER GAVE US A PASSWORD IT IS ALL FIXED!!!" after rushing me out of his place i just decided to go home with my laptop and trust this place. the next day i realized the computer had even more hardware problems, so i call them about it and they agree to fix them right in front of me if i take it to them. i take them my computer and the old guy and some guy named mark tell me to come back again some other day because "the laptop guy isnt here." a WEEK later (yes a freaking week later) they tell me to come by to get it checked out. so me and my brother go to try and get it fixed. but immediately after i bring up the problem, the old guy starts yelling at us saying, "YOU SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE COMPUTER IN WHEN YOU FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM! I HAVE 18 COMPUTERS WAITING AND I CANT JUST MAKE ROOM FOR YOU, YOU HAVE TO LEAVE IT IN AND GIVE US A WEEK!!!" i really didnt have time to leave it in for a week i had finals coming up and i just needed to get these things fixed. they would have taken the guy at least 30 minutes to fix it by the way. The old bastard then starts giving me shit that it is my fault that the hardware is broken because i never gave them my password when i first took it. my brother then tries to reason with the geezer because he wont stop giving us bullshit excuses. instead of handling this in a professional manner he tells my brother, "YOU ARE NOT MY CUSTOMER SO I WONT TALK TO YOU." he pretty much acted like a 5 year old from then on. READ THIS FIRST- THESE GUYS ARE THIEVES! Dropped off my IMac for repairs and Jonas assured me it was a quick fix. He said he had to CHARGE ME $350 to order the part to fix my computer- easy fix he said! 3 weeks later still not fixed. AND HE DOESN'T PICK UP HIS PHONE when he knows it's you trying to follow up on your computer! The only time I could get a hold of him was when I would use a different phone- WHAT COMEDY! The owner promised to fix my computer virus for $86 in one day (in contract), but when I called him 2 days later he said that it would take him more additional time to fix it and asked me to pay him $150. I decided to give it a go because it came from a trusted source, the turnaround time was fast and the service was great. The price was lower than what BestBuy had quoted me and it was shorter time then the service center at BestBuy. They are definitely not some sales associates trying to reach a quota, no, they are definitely craftsmen that specialize in their craft, which are PCs. I simply wanted to know if they carried a part and the conversation got very technical. I myself have been a tech for over 10 years, and I can tell someone that is well knowledgable into computers by with just a few words.. and YES they do know their stuff. Not to mention how nice they were and suggestive! Their prices and very affordable, and not over priced like what most other small computer shops do. They are the same like Fry's, but just a smaller local version. To sum it all up if you are in the 562 area or near cruz by and check these guys out. "Real talk", my laptop still @ the store for over 2 weeks!!! His explanation, mother board problem, than cable that connect mother board to blah blah... reason why it's been over 2 weeks is because he has to order a part down in San Diego.
