Bonus points for calling me to let me know that the client ahead of me was running far over time and that I should wait to come in - the space is small, so I wouldn't have wanted to wait there, and I was able to work at home until my appt. The price is the best I've seen in Cleveland and they give student discounts, which, in addition to client pics online and a good location, is what primarily drew me here. However, I do recommend double checking with your stylist about how much you will owe -- I went in thinking the price would be the same as online, but was charged more, so even though it's not very expensive, I would recommend double-checking. I got a very standard trim, and Jordan did a great job taking off all of my dead ends. I perhaps might have liked more layering than what she did, but she respected that I wanted to be able to pull all of my hair back into a ponytail, which was still very much possible. The main downside was that she waited far too long to straighten my bangs, so by the time she wanted to do them, they had already dried in a super weird way and needed to be re-wetted and re-dried before she could trim them. I told her this was going to happen, since I have super thin hair, but I don't think she believed me. But overall, I got a really nice cut, and will likely be coming back.

It's beautiful layered and feels so healthy. The cuts here are a bit pricy but I think a good cut every few months is worth the money. **the salon is located upstairs!!

I highly recommend this place to people especially from South Asia (because I'm one). Another good thing is the option to almost always be able to get a booking on short notice. I called ahead and specifically asked if they had experience with Black hair. They said yes, which was a complete lie, just like their cosmetology experience as well. The second I walked in, every stylist stopped and stared at me like I didn't belong there. The energy was disgusting and uncomfortable from the start. The stylist had no idea what she was doing. She used no heat protectant, tried to straighten my hair while it was still wet, and then had the nerve to say I "didn't know how to do my own hair." The ignorance was unreal. Let's be honest, this place is not welcoming to Black clients. It's full of narrow-minded, untrained stylists who clearly have no respect or understanding for textured hair. The whole experience reeked of microaggressions and subtle racism. Save yourself the time, money, and disrespect. This salon needs more than training, it needs a reality check.

Laura, Nicole, and all the other braiders are very talented braiders and were able to duplicate the style I showed them in the picture and I was quite impressed! They were also very quick and took no breaks. I wanted a fairly complicated style and they listened to me and care about the satisfaction of their customers. Every customer was pleased that day and I will be returning. Do not listen to the reviews, you have to see for yourself...just build a relationship with them and explain what you want. You WILL NOT be disappointed!!! Great Job and thank you ladies for having my hair on point!

When I took down the previous braids I made sure I bought some to shop so they know I want the same size for the same price $180. All went well the daughter started braiding my front and sides & stopped. I notice the braids were way bigger then what I had so I stopped her in mid braid and asked how much she was charging me. She stated $180 I advised the last time I received a smaller braid for $180 why would I pay you $180 for bigger braids this should be $150. She states maybe my mother gave me a discount - NO Discount was given on my part. After about 3hours another female started braiding the rest - HERE IS WHERE IT WENT BAD!!! 1ST she grabbed my nape and started braiding super soft which I knew the braids were not going to stay; so I told her she can braid a little tighter. I could tell my parts were not perfect & she was not comfortable braiding. After 8 hours (usually 6 hrs.) I was done. It looked Good not Great as the 1st time I went. This was December 29th on December 30th about 10 braids fell out from the back and 5 on the sides, some braids were not completely braided or had no slip knots to secure the braids. I called and explain the issue and was told they would fix them. As I do not live in this city so my commute back is about 1 hr on a good day and I had travel plans for New Yr. After the holiday (about a week later) I called again to explain that more braids are following out from the back and severally braids were hanging on for dear life. Again I was told they would fix them but I would have to come in after 8pm on a weekday - Not feasible!!! To make a long story short my braids never got fixed and it's only been a month and they look horrible and I mean horrible. I thought I found a braid shop that I could visit forever but I was wrong. If the owner or the daughter is braiding your hair you should be cool but anyone else WATCH OUT!!!Now I have to find another shop that is consistent on their techniques and quality. Very Disappointed

I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, my experience was incredibly disappointing…read more I came in with reference photos asking for soft bangs and a trim with some shaping. I left with what can only be described as a mullet, strands that were far too long and awkward to wear down, with no shape, no balance, and no styling. It was uneven in the back (the hairstylist, Emily, didn't even cut all the strands - she just snipped once at like two pieces?? It was so weird), My hair was so botched that my sister said it looked worse than when I tried to cut my own bangs in second grade. I told the stylist I was unhappy before I left the salon (I was in tears. I got into my car and literally cried), but she shrugged and vaguely offered to "fix it" within a week. I sat in the chair and said several times, hey this is not what I was looking for. I had reference photos that were as close to my hair type as possible. She kept kind of shrugging and ignoring me. As a small business owner and mom of two, I didn't have time to come back as it was also the week of the 4th of July. I've spent every single day since wearing a hat or a headband. The cost was over $100 to get my hair butchered, and I felt obligated to tip, despite feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied. In retrospect, obviously I should not have. I followed up right away via email, sent photos, and tried to communicate. The salon owner, Rachelle, responded a couple of times, I responded back with times that worked for me to come in for her to fix it, and then she just stopped responding completely. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. The lack of urgency, accountability, or a clear solution made a frustrating experience worse. I'm still out the money and now have to pay another salon to fix it. The attached picture is from immediately after my appointment. As you can see, nothing was styled and my hair is exponentially worse than when I stepped into The Studio. Who would walk into a salon and ask for the awkward growing-out-bangs stage for a haircut??? Horrible.
