Trixie knows how to mix a perfect brandy alexander while answering the phone and printing out the bill for a six top. Modes is the place to relax in the vintage decor. Locals don't want to share the secret but you'll be sorry if you don't try it. Tip your servers and bartenders well. They are the best.

I absolutely adore the restaurant scenery. I like how they keep it original, cute chairs, and overall ambiance. The staff is nice. The food was good but steak was flavorless, however, I think that's how it's supposed to be. I added the mushrooms to mine and they were tasty. Wedge salad is simple but incredible. Prices are a bit outrageous but it's a nice restaurant.

Traverse Cities oldest steak house, bet it looked like this when they opened. Wife wanted steak and unfortunately a lot of the places up here are closed today or close at 9pm. Dated, small portions my steak had no taste whatsoever, I had to put steak sauce on it and I never do that. Wedge salad was okay, baked potato was tiny and the homemade cherry cheesecake did nothing for me. Seems like it's an older crowd that likes to frequent here, they were probably here for the grand opening in 1975. Service was good, my wife enjoyed her prime rib and I thought mine was mehhh

While server was very good, she wasn't friendly at all, But to be honest that was ok, because she was good at her job. Atmosphere was reminded me of those old fashioned movies from the 50's and 60's dinner club/bar or as my brother in law said, his grandmas basement. The food was good, but not good enough to go back. The four stars are really because the service was good. Otherwise 3 stars for sure.

Step back in time when you step in to this place. It reminded me of steakhouses from my youth in the 60's and 70's. Not a lot of options but everything was tasty. Bar cheese appetizer , wedge salad ( only salad option) with house made dressing , large cocktails with the waitress suggesting a double and prime rib ( 12 or 16 oz cuts).... a cattleman's delight! Sides are starches , either baked or fried potato or rice. Many steak cuts and all reasonably priced . Looked like many locals in the place which is always a good sign

I did add a bit of lime juice and salt for flavor. The bread was delicious! I met a new friend at the bar and she and I enjoyed splitting the Wagyu beef 8 ounce with risotto. This was delicious and perfectly prepared rare with a chat. The risotto gravy was a bit rich for me. I would have loved a steak sauce but enjoyed adding lemon butter. The restaurant itself had a beautiful, rustic and romantic atmosphere, and the hostess was lovely about accommodating our request for a quieter table. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill once our waitress began taking our order. She initially gave us great wine recommendations and was pleasant while explaining the specials. However, when I decided to order the white pizza instead of the trout because I wanted something lighter, her attitude completely changed. She became noticeably aggressive and dismissive, which made us feel as though we were being judged for choosing a less expensive item from the menu. The service continued to be disappointing. I had to ask for the complimentary bread, and I waited nearly 30 minutes for the second half of my wine. When we asked about it, we were abruptly told that the bar was busy. Her tone throughout the rest of the meal was extremely inconsistent, including literally yelling across the table, "How's the food?" It was so unexpected that my husband and I almost had to laugh. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't make up for the experience. The appetizers were decent, but our mains--the ravioli and white pizza--were very average and lacked flavor. We've been to many fine-dining and Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and we understand that service can occasionally have an off night. What was disappointing here was feeling judged based on what we chose to order. Customers should feel comfortable ordering anything from a restaurant's own menu without being treated differently because of the price. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere and a lot of potential, but given our overall experience, we unfortunately won't be returning or recommending it to family and friends.

We sat at the bar which was staffed by two very efficient bartenders who did it all. It was nice to be able to see right through to the kitchen from the bar. Really enjoyed the mussel special (not sure if this is always on the menu). The prosciutto fig salad was quite good too but a very small serving size for two people to share as an appetizer. The crostini served with the burrata was very tasty and crispy. The best dish was the fettuccine which has pork ragu and fresh parmesan. This was recommended by our server and it did not disappoint. I only wish there were just a couple more noodles because the amount of meat was very generous. If you're deciding between here and the other Italian place also at the Commons (I don't think I can say it by name) I would actually recommend PepeNero's over that one!!!!

I had a bite of hubby's walleye fried fish sandwich and the tartar sauce was out of this world good. I enjoyed the added ginger. Overall, a nice easy stop along the way. It came with mashed potatoes and a cucumber corn medley. They both were very good. North Peak Brewing makes their own Root Beer. Honestly that why I chose to come here. Thankfully the Root Beer was excellent. The service was friendly, but not very efficient. I think they are short staffed because the bar tender was also my waiter and he was busy bartendering! Overall I still rate this a 5 star review. The Wings, Pork Chop, and Root Beer were all excellent and I would return for any of them. So yes I would Return.
