My friend and I got our nails done here and the place was gorgeous! They were able to seat us and get started right away, and Katie did a fantastic job with my nails and was very professional. The only thing that takes a star off for me is that they dip your finger in the communal pot of SNS dip powder. That's a pretty standard practice in many nail salons, but the healthcare part of me knows that it's unhygienic and a health risk to do that anywhere. I loved this place and came here everytime until my recent experience, I was very disappointed. First to start out, I showed the man the color I wanted, he said he could do it. My picture was like a pink chrome. Before he finished them, he asked me if I liked them. He painted them white.. with chrome on it. So I showed him the picture again and asked for them to look like the picture. It was not even similar to what I asked for. He told me then that he didn't have that color.... ? Anyways he went ahead and finished them and then I went to the counter to pay. In the beginning when I walked in, I asked for how much they charge for spa pedicure and gel. They said total was $55 which I was okay with. So when I went to pay it was $70... I was very confused and then found out that they charge an additional $15 for chrome which I was not informed about at all before starting the chrome. I would not have chose chrome if I knew they charged $15 it. He should have let me know about that upcharge before proceeding so that was unprofessional. I mean even Chipotle will let you know about up charges with their guac or queso. So now I left with the nails that I'm not satisfied with and got overcharged for something they didn't tell me was an upcharge. read more

I have been coming here every time I visit my family in Charlotte, NC, for several years. The staff has always been friendly, cordial, and welcoming. There is plenty of parking around. The girl at the desk gave me the dirtiest look when I said that it was only 6:30 and their door said they were open until 7:30. Upon checking out, I asked the manager for a discount, because I had to service myself, and she stated she would only do 10% off. I said for cutting my own nails? She said yes, I walked down there and was wondering why you were cutting your own nails. I said, and you walked away without saying anything. Received a gift card for this spot last year and had a gel mani done before this Xmas (I visit Charlotte yearly). It's now grown out but has lasted the time. The young ladies at the front greeted and seated me but didn't offer anything to drink. At one point I flagged one down for coffee. Their new coffee machine was only for hot chocolate. I had an older woman perform my gel mani and regular pedi. She attempted to upsell me several times. I had asked for a design which she brushed off as something someone else could do and never called anyone in. Maybe she forgot. By then I was over it. My nails were filed crookedly and I went home to smooth out the ragged parts. It's a beautiful spot. They spent some money on those chandeliers but it lacks the sophistication it was shooting for. I wish I could leave 0 stars. I came in to get my eyebrows waxed and that's it. For starters, I should've known better. The wax they use is EXTREMELY hot and you can feel the burn from the second it touches your skin, until a few hours later. Because they keep it at such a hot temperature it completely ripped my skin off of my face in 7 different places. I have had nail techs blow the wax off before it touches skin to be sure it's not too hot, but this lady did not cool it off even for a second! On one of my eyebrows, she placed the wax and the paper strip so close to my eyelid that I actually ended up developing an eye infection from the severe damage. I had came here because the place I usually go to was all the way across town and this place was nearby, so I gave it another shot. I had requested white French Tips. The nail tech I had, she was a hard time doing the lines. I asked her if it would make it easier for her picking just one color. Which I did, and she just rushed through my nails and ended up cutting me on my pinky toe. When I mistakenly smudged my nail and asked her apologetically to fix it, she took off the paint with her finger and re painted the smudge on top of old paint. Now it's bumpy and even more smudgy. This was the worst experience. First, I made an appt. Online-what a waste of time. I got to the salon, had a 30 min wait anyway, and did not get the mail technician I requested the appt with online. My technician spoke limited English, had difficulty reading the notes the receptionist left her on my ticket, and had to be told 3 times I wanted tips to the point where she shapes my very short nails and was about to start the SNS process when I stopped her for the 4th time. The tips are messy. I have an excessive amount of residue under the tips against my fingertips. Gross. I asked her several times to clean it up before I gave up due to the communication issue. Then she left me even though I had a pedicure also on my ticket. She came back twice and on the second time realized her mistake and moved me to the pedicure seats. I had a jelly pedicure scheduled but told her to go with a basic pedicure due to the fact that at this point I had been in the salon for well over 3 hours and needed to leave. When I checked out, I told the receptionist I only got the basic pedicure, but I was charge for the to service and told that's what was on the ticket. At this point I was done. First time there and I enjoyed such an amazingly CLEAN and quiet environment. Plenty of seating. I got a MANI/PEDI/BROWS. The young lady that did the Pedi was nice and attentive. The guy (Peter) did my new set of nails. I must say it's the first time in years of getting nails that my Nail Tech never engaged in conversation.... Guess that's to be expected. He was fast, but I feel sure it was because he was due to be off work in the next hour as I heard him say to his colleague..... and he was out on time! I will say that I noticed that there were 3 women, myself included, that wasn't offered a beverage.. coincidence, maybe.... But very noticeable. I watched a mom/daughter walk in, got checked in, led to their chairs and drinks/straws (Coke cans) was handed to them so I did another quick scan of the room and sure enough others had beverages. I have been twice now once to get a full set and another to get a pedicure and gel manicure. Both times felt incredibly rushed and the customer service was sub par. I am also disappointed in the way my nails have looked both times. The technicians seem to always be rushed and they never really ask if you're happy with your nails. They only have two nail techs that I would recommend-- Peter or Sophia. That's it. The others are hit and miss. I was treated poorly today by the manager --accused of not paying when I had JUST paid $170 for the service, with the receipt sent to my phone. They stopped me at the door and then chased me down in the parking lot saying, "you didn't pay" when I DID pay. Come to find out, the girl didn't put the $5 decoration fee on one of the slips. I have literally never had a pedicure hurt until now. Started a basic pedicure at the same time as a girl next to me and was finished 15 minutes earlier than her. The guy who did mine was super harsh and rushed. Not only that but I asked for a nude pink color and he gave me bright bubble gum pink nails. When I showed him the color I asked for, he stated that sometimes they look different on real people than the displays. Literally argued with me while I asked for whatever light pink shade they had. The large bright space is contemporary and uncluttered. They have 40 pedicure chairs and generally have it well staffed. I usually am a walk-in and have never had to wait more than a few minutes. Emy and Chloe have given me great manicures. They paid attention to my request for shape. The receptionist, Abby, is friendly, pleasant, and efficient. She is always moving around, tidying up, and smiling. One of the things I like is that this is not a salon with a bunch of manicure stands. It has long granite counters with nothing on them. Each manicurist brings the tools she needs for the task. It should be very easy to keep clean. Just spray and wipe without a need to move anything. I have noticed lately tht I can see the fine dust of various procedures on the granite counters. A little more attention to keeping that clean would be in line with the rest of the facility which is very,clean. read more

This is my third time coming here and this was the worst experience I've ever had honestly in the past five years of getting my nails done all together. I sat down in the chair and the nail tech, I think her name was Niki, started questioning me about getting SNS and started pressing me to get an acrylic set instead. I told her NO, I have a lot of experience getting my nails done and I know what works for me. Since I have really dry nail beds, acrylics usually tend to pop off more for me so that's when I started switching to SNS (psa ladies if you already haven't been doing this by now this is my advice from personal experience but if you find yourself constantly having to go to the nail salon bc you have 3 nails attached and it's because acrylics do not last!! Find yourself hitting the nail salon every 3 to 4 weeks instead of every two weeks like you were with acrylics.) I've been getting SNS done for two years now and I know that you're supposed to soak those off AND THEN use the drill to get the rest of the nail off. ANYWAYS, she continued to question me about getting a full set which made me question that she had never done SNS before because she wasn't doing the proper steps that needed to be done for the removal process. She started immediately cutting my nails/the tips that I had on from my old set. doesn't properly soak off my nails and then tries to file down my nails with the drill it got to the point where she started trying to take off my SNS nails, the acrylic way, where you take a tool and lift the whole nail, essentially ripping it off your nail bed. After she started to do this, I told her that you need to soak the nails more and basically I felt like I was coaching her on how to do SNS nails. When she started popping them off she got to the second nail where my nail bed started ripping. I felt a lot of pain and then immediately had to get up from the chair, I couldn't stay there any longer. I just didn't feel comfortable enough sitting there knowing I was in front of a nail tech who didn't know what they were doing. Overall, I've been going to Modish in general for four years now and this is the worst location. Every other Modish is AMAZING but overall this is the worst experience I've ever had getting my nails done at this location. read more

However the service was not worth the money. The second time I went was last Friday. My mother paid for me to get my toes and a full set of acrylics. The price again did not match the service. The nail tech drilled way to hard. I don't know what kind of powder they use for acrylic but it began to burn my actual nail. I asked for almond shaped and I did not get almond.
