Only giving one star because zero stars isn't an option. I was in this salon for almost three hours for a freaking FILL IN! The nail tech was extremely moody, never said a word to me or even made eye contact.. and was BY FAR the slowest moving woman in this line of work. I requested to keep my almond shape, no cut down and had picked the perfect color. Well, I now have nails that are all different shapes, sizes and the color seems inconsistent. I am mind blown. If it weren't for the fact that I had a baby sitter for what I assumed would be an hour to an hour and a half at the most, I would've stayed and requested another tech fix this freaking massacre. I've been looking for a nail salon since moving to Jacksonville. Luckily, I found modiSH Nails & Spa. They're located off of Beach and Hodges, so you can do some shopping before or after getting your nails done. The salon is kept really clean and airy. They use a new tub liner for every customer. And their massage chairs are pretty good - I like how it has these side things that actually squeeze you from the sides, just a little extra oomph for those who like to knead out all their stress. They also offer you drinks here from water to juice to wine to margarita slushies. I've been switching from Shellac to SNS nails, mainly because I haven't found a place that has a whole collection of SNS colors. But this place has every SNS color, so I think I may just make the switch to SNS nails. If you're not familiar with SNS nails, they're supposedly a lot healthier for your nails compared to your gels/acrylics/Shellac. They're just as long lasting, and don't require a UV/LED light to cure. Brian was my technician. He did a pretty good job at making sure my nails were even, cuticles clean, and polish applied evenly. He gave a really nice foot massage, and I really liked the amount of pressure he used to really work on the high arches of my feet. He worked meticulously on my SNS nails. I liked how he managed to buff everything down just to the right thickness. I've been to other places where they actually don't buff at the end, and my nails just felt too thick for me to actually function. He wasn't much of a talker, but I appreciate a nice, quiet spa day. I was pretty happy with the results, and I think I have found my go-to salon for all my mani/pedi needs. Bonus: they even massage your neck and shoulders as your manicure dries. read more

We had an manicure and pedicure and are very unhappy with the final result . We were rushed and they cut out nails square with very little filing and barely trimmed our cuticles. The place was not busy so I don't understand the rush to do our manicures from our pedicure chairs . It was a very poor job. The polish was all over our cuticles and when asked to cover a bare spot on one of my finger nails, the lady said I smudged it when I had not moved at all. She was quite rude. My guests polish was still smudging hours later so not worth the money. read more

I got a gel manicure and the very next day finger polish was cracked and coming off. I went back and they repolished the one finger nail free of charge. Then, the next day the other nails were peeling and coming off. Gel polish should last at least 2 weeks if not more. Unfortunately, this was the 2nd time I had this experience with them. My daughter also had the SNS and the same thing happened it cracked and chipped within a couple of days. I used to love going to this place but I think it has gone downhill. Me and my friend went for her birthday and the whole experience was very pleasant! We walked in and were greeted immediately and had no wait to get our nails done. We got pedicures and even though we just chose the classic version it was still amazing! The price is very suitable for what you get! $23 for the normal nail care and then also a massage, faraffin wax, hot stone massage, and more. And of course my toe nails look amazing! And then while we sat to let our nails dry we got our shoulders massaged!! I recommend modISH nail and spa to anyone looking for a place for any nail, brow, or spa needs! read more

I got a full set and pedicure here on Saturday. The pedicure was okay, but felt pretty rushed. I got my acrylics and that was a different story. Not only was it rushed, I was pushed into getting a design I didnt want (I wanted purple to match my toes and was told I needed pink and white instead). She also cut my cuticles to the point of bleeding on multiple fingers. The NEXT DAY, one of my acrylics broke off, then today another just FELL off. I've gotten acrylics for years and have NEVER had this issue. It was a waste of $100. I won't be returning. read more

I wish I could give this place 1/5 a star. My coworker recommended this salon when I complained about the cost of SNS at my usual salon (Pearl Nails). I called in to ask about their SNS price and was quoted "$40 or $35 if your nail short." That's the same price as my normal salon, but I decided to give them a try. Within 3 minutes of being in this salon I had the urge to get up and walk out - I should have listened to my gut instinct. The staff was incredibly rude. No one introduced themselves, offered me water or a drink (they serve beverages), and the nail technician stopped in the middle of prepping my nails to have someone else do them. The new technician had to leave her station several times (5+ times) to get the right supplies to do my nails. She took several phone calls and spent a solid 10 minutes talking to the receptionist about some customer who called in earlier. She also did 2 layers of clear dip which made my nails very thick and the color isn't very vibrant. I get the SNS because it's healthier than any other nail enhancement. It's expensive, but worth it. So imagine my HORROR as the technician tried to put a gel top coat on my nails! She told me to put my hands under the UV light and I was furious. The whole reason I spend more money on SNS is so avoid the UV light and scraping involved with gel color. It's literally $10-15 cheaper to do gel, but it's horrible on my nails so I spend more money for SNS. To add insult to injury I was charged $40 even though my nails are very, very short. And they look terrible. read more

When ModiSH opened I couldn't wait to try it because it was convenient to my location and it looked fresh and modern. I've had several mani/pedis here and have been satisfied each time. It is a very clean establishment in general. You have the usual choices of a basic mani or pedi and more deluxe versions and of course they do try to upsell you on the more deluxe. One of the nicer things about their pedicure is that the basic pedicure includes hot stone and paraffin wax. Honestly the basic is just fine unless you feel like treating yourself. They have water, wine and slushies but they don't always offer them. Not sure what the criteria is?? They take credit cards but request cash for tips. read more

I came in to get Christmas sns nails with my friend that lives down the street :) ! Started out okay, lots of employees in the salon, not a lot of customers. Ryan was the man who did my nails. Super friendly and didn't speak much English. Once my nails were drying he tried to give me a back massage (I got really creeped out). Time passes and it's now 4 days later.... MY NAILS ARE HORRIBLE!!! part of my nail keep chipping off randomly, there are cracks in the sns and it just looks horrible... I will not be recommending and will not return. I'm a guy who likes to feel fresh every now and then and on Saturday my wife and I went to check this salon out. What a great choice! We both had mani & pedis and soon found ourselves seated in massage chairs while the wonderful ladies went to work on us. The pedicure included a hot foot waxing along with a deep leg massage and the manicure could include the same if one wanted. Each station was very clean and all the employees seemed happy to be assisting their clientele in relaxing and just helping someone have the edge taken off. As an added bonus complimentary wine and soft drinks were available. The just opened and are running several coupons in different publications. We'll definitely return and I hope they manage to attract a strong customer base so they can remain open for the foreseeable future. read more

After neglecting my nails for far too long, I've been on the hunt for a new go-to nail place in Jacksonville. A friend recommended ModiSH so I stopped in on the way home from work and immediately knew I had made the right choice. Very clean, sleek atmosphere with plenty of chairs for manicures and pedicures; even though they were getting busy due to the after-work rush I didn't wait more than 5 minutes. All of the staff seemed very happy and attentive to the customers, chatting about their days and helping them decide what to have done. They also offer water, wine or slushies, which I always appreciate. I chose the basic pedicure and was blown away - I've never had so many different features included in just a basic service before. There was buffing, exfoliating, shaping up the nails, a paraffin wax treatment, a leg massage, hot towel treatment, hot stone massage and large selection of OPI polish to choose from for color. I took my very good friend here for her birthday and we decided to go all out and get the Luxury pedicure. The ladies were friendly and the pedis came out great! I had been going here since it opened, but I recently had been taking my money elsewhere because my experiences at modish lately have been very unpleasant.. I went tonight for a quick manicure before a job interview and the lady was very rude and very rough with my hands, not a relaxing service at all. The water to soak my hands in was cold and she cut me multiple times, and completely stopped a couple times to talk on the phone.. I was charged $25! The website says a basic manicure is $13, and I got gel polish which is a extra $5. So I'm not sure why I was overcharged.. Absolutely ridiculous. I had always been happy with the way they did my nails and my pedicure. I have been doing my taxes and looking back over my receipts for tax deductions. I was in there 4 times last year where they added more to the tip. Twice they added $5 and twice they added an additional $10. I won't go back and am glad I changed to a place closer to me. An epitome of class, or should I say, a class of its own. Upon arriving you'll be greeted by an sophisticated aura. I have had two services here so far; pedicure and no chip manicure layered by acrylic. I absolutely adore the endurance of my no-chip. I also particularly enjoyed my pedicure as I have had them for three weeks with little to no wreckage. I have surfed, hiked and rummage my toes through the sand of Jax Beach but they still look wonderful. The prices are comparable and dare I say, cheaper than those who are around the area. The staff, mostly ladies, knows their customers. I've heard those who are called by their names and greeted genuinely by the techs. They offer beverages on the house and gives you a free neck shoulders. The design of the salon seems minimalist but elegant with a touch of posh. It has a sense of lavishness but not at all pretentious. The chairs are aligned closely and so are the manicure stations. I come to Modish nails just about every two weeks. The spa is very nice and the staff does an amazing job making sure that I am comfortable while receiving my services. I recently began sitting with Lala and she has been great. She recommends products to try and she remembers what I like and don't like so that each time that I come I am comfortable and satisfied. They offer drinks like slushy, wine, water, soda with service. They have many colors to choose from and they have plenty of staff so that they can get clients in and out in an appropriate amount of time. They offer waxing and other services for eyebrows which I have also used. Prices are average. Overall, this is a great spa to treat yourself to relaxation. read more
