Went in at 5 o'clock on a week night- We were sat right away and had our servers attention right away too. The place smells so good like fresh dough and pizza. I had the 10" pizza with black olive and my partner had a meatball sandwich. Both were great. I think the server forgot to bring us some sort of starting bread because it was brought at the same time as the meals. Oh well it was good. I love this place. So nice to have this restaurant in Peoria. 4th time here tonight and had their new bread with dipping sauce and the new salmon dinner special. Wow! Delicious. I'm so impressed with how they cooked the salmon. Everything is fresh and authentic Italian. Love that they play traditional Italian music too. The staff is always so friendly. Our second experience with this restaurant, our first time was for takeout (see my other review) and this one was eat in. One step inside and the wonderful smell of an Italian restaurant immediately tells you this is a great place We had their newest addition to the pizza choices, a capricciosa that reminded us of one we often had at Bottega Pizzeria before it closed and we loved it. Ohhhh my God... I didn't just eat pizza--I committed a full-blown act of gluttony at Modo Mio Italian Kitchen up on Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant. Joey's Spicy Meatball Pizza? Listen to me carefully... this pie is f***ing criminal. I'm talkin' "should require a permit to serve this kinda heat" level. Soon as I opened the box, I knew I was in trouble. This thing looked like it got flown in first class straight outta Naples--perfect crust, bubbles, char, everything dialed in like somebody's Nonna was in the back yellin' at people to get it right. And me? I got no discipline. None. I folded that slice like a true degenerate and took a bite so big I damn near dislocated my jaw. Instant chaos. ricotta, meatballs, basil, sauce, pepper flakes--BOOM. Flavor hit me like a Ferrari. Next thing I know, I'm four slices deep, sittin' there in silence, just noddin' to myself like, "Yeah... this is how I go out." Absolute gavone behavior. The spice from the red chili flakes? Perfect. Not cute, not polite--just enough to let you know who's in charge. The basil? Fresh as hell, jumpin' in like it's got somethin' to prove. The whole pie was just... disrespectful. And of course I paired it with a couple...alright, three--glasses of red wine like I'm some kinda classy piece of s***. Didn't help. Just made me eat slower so I could suffer longer. Am I goin' back? I was very impressed with this little Italian kitchen!! I ordered Chicken Parmesan, garlic bread and a key lime cannoli to go. The chicken was moist and very flavorful. It came with three large pieces! I got the Crema Rosa sauce which was good but not enough on the pasta for my preference. It was hard to truly taste it. The garlic bread was fantastic!! The cannoli was exceptional! Portions are large and the service is outstanding!! Currently you order at the counter but they are working toward full service. This weekend we were all wanting something a bit different and trying to decide where we'd all be happy. Half my family always wants pizza and I'm just over it, but when I came across Modo Mio I knew there would be plenty of things to choose from. When we cloaked in it was empty. We were in between late lunch and start of dinner. Instantly we were told by a girl at the counter they don't do table service for lunch so we had to order at the counter. They do bring you the food etc though once ordered No big deal we sat with the menus as we decided. My husband and I always go back and forth about trying a meatball sub places, but I'm always on the fence as they just don't look or sound good to me. Today though after looking over fellow reviewers I kept seeing theirs over and over. To me that tells me it's going to be good. I ordered it off their lunch special with a side salad. We agreed if awful he'd split his personal pizza with me and eat the other half ha ha . Deal. We also ordered another personal pizza and more wings off the lunch special for my daughter. Well, too bad for my husband because I ate that entire meatball sub lol. The bread was toasted and a bit crispy, good sauce to meat ratio and cheese ooey and gooey. My side salad was fresh and I was glad my dressing came on the side so I could add as little or much as I wanted. Prices were fair for the lunch specials, Service was ok, but I'd of liked if they'd been a bit more friendly at walk in instead of the instant ...dining in, no table service comment.... Just a little better on how the tone came out, but that's my opinion. The location was clean. The vibe gave off more fast food but a little more upscale than fancy Italian . Been to Modo Mio three times -once during original opening about two years ago, second last week with the Corte Bella Romeo Men's Lunch Group, and third tonight for Valentine Dinner via carry out. The current owners have made significant improvements in food and menu variety. Our Romeos group had primarily the lunch pasta combo including lasagna. We all agreed the food was good. Our server did a super job with nine guys. My wife and I had a carry out dinner with Caesar Salad (anchovies added), Chicken Piccata/Lasagna, and Limencello Cake /Cheese Cake. Have to mention that the garlic bread is delicious. Garlic puffs are also good. Desserts were delightful. Order was ready on time. Nothing missing. I know the new owners are planning some changes. This place was more of a diner. We tried Italian wedding soup, I would not recommend it. It was gross and there was a bunch of floating pieces in it and some sad looking basil on top. We got a sandwich it was good but very salty. We also got a pasta and it was bland not seasoned much. read more

This pizza and sandwich shop came up on my Google maps search of local restaurants in my area and had 7 reviews, all five star. The restaurant was called Modo Mio Italian Kitchen, at the location of 1 Brother's Pizza in Peoria. I believe the spot was recently taken over and is under new ownership. Renovations and remodeling will be happening in the next few months, according to signs posted around the restaurant. I suggested an edit on Yelp to update the name. When we walked in and looked up at the wall menu, a customer who was at the register smiled and mentioned to us that the spot had really good pizza. I look forward to trying the pizza, but today we were in the mood for some wings and sandwiches. We ordered: - Cherry Pomegranate Italian Cream Soda (server recommended the best way to blend this and get the syrup to the top is to blow bubbles. Very fun!) - Unsweetened Ice Tea - Garlic Puffs - their version of "garlic knots" House-made dough, roasted garlic, olive oil, herbs - Buffalo Chicken Wings with Ranch - Meatball & Mozzarella Sub - House-made meatballs, mozzarella, marinara sauce, basil, Italian roll - Chicken Milanese Panini- parmesan-crusted chicken, fontina cheese, Calabrian pepper aioli, tomato, arugula, parmesan, lemon-shallot vinaigreite, focaccia - Basil Pesto Spaghetti with Chicken - (walnuts, parmesan) Service is really great here. We ordered at the register and chose our spot. They have tables and booths. We were given a number and the food was brought to our table by the server and by the chef. The food is brought out quickly and was hot and delicious. We loved everything. My daughter really loved her pesto pasta, which is one of her favorite meals and they did it right. Hubs enjoyed the wings and his meatball sub. We were all very happy with the hot soft garlic & herb covered puffs in oil as a starter. The Chicken Milanese Panini was so flavorful. I couldn't get enough of the sauces and the two patties of breaded pounded chicken with the spicy arugula and fluffy soft focaccia bread. There's a men's and women's restroom at the back of the restaurant. This is located in a strip mall area near a dance studio, A Mountainside Fitness, and a Taco Bell. Hot honey pizza was really good. Crust was perfect and crisp. My son got fettuccini Alfredo and it looked homemade. My husband got pasta as well and they both said it was really good. We tried Modo Mio for the first time and really liked the food. Would recommend giving them a try.

Tried this place for the first time. Placed an online order for pick up knowing that it would be for a later time. Scheduled pick up time for 5:45 PM. Received a text message at 5:25 PM that my order was ready. So by the time I could pick up my order the cold things were warm and the hot things were warm. The cold Italian sandwich was put on top of hot fries which made everything soggy. Also, if you're charging $4 for fries, there should be more than eight. We were really wanting to find a good Italian place that is not a chain, but maybe this just isn't it. Might consider trying again if we could pick up ASAP, but definitely would not do a later scheduled pick up again. read more

I am a Chicago native and an Italian food snob, it been a challenge to find good Italian food in AZ, there are some Italian deli's and they are fantastic. Modo Mia was a great surprise and am so happy we tried it. I stayed basic with Spaghetti and meatballs, and my wife had the veal special. Both were very good and reminded me of home. Absolutely incredible! A client raved about their amazing dishes, and we couldn't resist trying it for ourselves. We decided to treat our family to a night out, and we are so glad we did! We started with garlic knots that were freaking awesome! The Milano pizza that was a perfect blend of flavors- loved the black mushrooms, followed by Chicken Alfred, Crema Rosa, and meat sauce spaghetti. Everything was so delicious!!! The owner came out and chatted with us a bit and wanted to know how everything went with our meal. He then brought out a complimentary Wagyu meatball for us to try. We will definitely be ordering this again. This restaurant may be a hidden gem tucked away off Happy Valley & Lake Pleasant Parkway at four corners, but it deserves all the recognition it can get. We are excited to share this treasure with our friends and clients because it truly deserves to be tried. We've found our new favorite Italian restaurant, and we can't wait to return. Went there for lunch. When I asked the server, who was apparently the owner, for a DOCG wine he didn't seem to know what that meant. Tipped me off right away it was not authentic Italian but Americanized. Ordered the carbonera and a Margherita pizza with wings. The carbonera is first off, nowhere near authentic, but probably one of the worst pasta dishes we have ever tasted. The pizza had chopped up.. maybe Roma tomatoes on it? It was thick and too cheesy and didn't even have basil on it. Surprisingly the wings were good. I still would choose other places over Modo Mio for wings though (Crazy Mikes is our go to). Weird that an Italian restaurants only good item we ate was wings. Just another mediocre California chain. read more

I want to say I love this place... the food was definitely scrumptious, but sadly, the ordering/pickup experience was so far from perfection (not even close!). We placed an online order at 5-something PM for a 7:30 pickup. We live about 15 mins away so my husband got there in time and went with our 5 year old daughter, thinking this would be a quick and easy pickup. Paid for in advance, had a set pickup time... easy, right? Nope! Him and our daughter waited approximately 45 minutes! They didn't end up leaving with our order until around 8:15 that night. Granted I wasn't there personally, my husband told me no one apologized, no one offered anything to him or our young kid while waiting... nada! Am I overreacting? You to decide, but on Saturday nights, my husband and I have "date night in" so we order and pickup food and the kids are in bed by 8pm.... Definitely didn't work out that way since our order wasn't done until 8:15 and then he had to drive home and we worked to get three kids settled for the night. Not sure we will be back, anytime soon any way. read more
