I agree with others here. At this point, I've been here over 10 times. They need to be more prompt especially when people have reservations. Overall customer service can use a boost. I have my favorite techs now, so quality is always good but if I have to switch to someone else for any reason, my experience is not the same. Saturday. No wait. I picked out a color and got escorted to a pedicure chair. I cannot rate the quality of the services because after having my feet soaking for 45 minutes and still no sign of a technician, I left. Only when someone saw me drying off my feet and gathering my things did a technician come over offering an apology and promising that someone would be with me right away. I have rarely experienced such a poorly done mani pedi. The male manicurist was hasty and did not pay attention to detail. I left with more hangnails and dry skin around my fingers than when I walked in, which he blamed on the buffing process. (??) The massage was quick and weak, the foot scrubbing left the bottoms of my feet rough, and the paint on my toes doesn't cover the whole nail. It's ridiculous that I even have to post this review. How sad! When I mentioned this to my family members who live nearby and have been there, they said they would never go back after their first experience either. Soooo. I haven't had a pedi and mani for a long time (I just do my own nails). I figure since I'm going on vacation I should just get them done professionally, maybe they would last longer than if I do them. Got them done and came home and my toes only had one coat on them!! It didn't look like $45 job!! So, I called and the said they would redo my toes no charge. My mani is gone, polish on four fingers already are chipped in under 24 hours of wear. I'm not too impressed with the work done here, but I'm a semi-satisfied customer. I give them two stars just because they fixed my toe nail polish with out any fuss, I like the decore, and it seems to be cleaner than most in that area. read more

My Mom and I visited Modo Nail Bar. The nail salon was clean and although busy, the staff made us feel pampered. I love the various scented soaking salts/lotions and my Mom really enjoyed her hot-stone pedicure. They have great gel nail colors and after two 1/2 weeks, our nails are chip-free! This place may look nice but they rush you and don't perform the job good at all. I went in three times I had the guy who sits in the middle behind the bar. He did my mails and toes. He rushes the toes and when I asked for my nails to be cut down he barely wanted to do that. I had to ask three times! I use a computer at work in can't have extra long nails. Worst nails EVER!!!!! Came in for a cut down and fill. Didn't ask what shape I wanted, just started cutting. Ended up filing them down to nothing. Cut me twice with drill. And excuse after excuse of she was nervous, etc etc. Either you can do nails or not. Overpriced for thick, tacky and ugly nails. $33 dollar fill and cut down for some crap that looks like a nail student could have done better. Press on nails from CVS would look better than this crap. Due to the fact I moved from Laurel and don't really find myself going there very I often, I no longer regularly get serviced in this nail salon. However, I still wanted to take the time to give a shout out to my nail technician who used to service me when I came here, Tammy. I followed Tammy from Paradise Nail Salon to Modo Nail Bar and for many years she always provided excellent service for me. She gives an excellent pedicure and is absolutely wonderful at waxing eyebrows. She also gives a very therapeutic and firm massage. Although she's petite, she's very strong! The salon itself was always very clean; it's also incredibly spacious and has a very trendy, contemporary themed decor. While I do go more regularly to a salon closer to my home now, I never forgot Tammy and her quality work. I would definitely recommend Tammy to anyone looking for a wonderful nail technician with great customer service! read more

The guy cut me twice on my toes and I woke up the next morning with a huge infection that required antibiotics. Not clean. Over priced. Terrible customer service. I called and they said "it's not my problem, we don't have a refund policy." It appears to be a nice place based on the decor and grandness and free drinks.. but that's where they will trick you. I spent $80 for a pedicure and gel manicure and in return, they had gel polish on my cuticles and an infection on my toe. Ladies, look elsewhere for your mani/pedi !! read more

Due to reviews, I wanted to check this place out. From appearance, it appears a nice, clean and upstanding place; they also offer free drinks while receiving service. Their prices aren't too cheap so I considered they were a fair business. The place smell of nail polish and chemicals which threw me off as a legit nail salon has smell extractors and doesn't smell so this was red flag 1. Red flag 2, because of the cold weather, my nails has started breaking so I got an overlay to keep my nails strong. Well, my nails burn which is a high indicator they use MMA (meant for dental work not to use on nails !!) so with that being said, they're nothing but a chop shop that appears shiny on the outside. Will not return to this place, they're probably cutting corners else where also. When you receive acrylic, your nails are not suppose to burn or feel "tight" ever so beware. read more

I have been here a few times (mostly as a last resort) because the work is never consistent. No matter who I go to, the work is always rushed. I got a pedicure in 15 minutes and the bottom of my pants were soaking wet because the technician was splashing the water and rinsing the top of my legs where there was no product. The pedicure chairs are worn and buttons are non existent (at least the chair I was in) My full set was also rushed and the acrylic is outside of my nail bed. (I get short nails so they look like white gum chiclets). They up charge for cuticle care-- which I think is insane. (That's like going to get your hair done and the stylist requiring you to shampoo before you come) My nails were sore and for two days. Their prices online do not reflect what they charge in the facility. They prefer cash and have an atm inside. The owner will tell you there is no surcharge but it is. Needless to say, this last experience will be my last time going to this last resort. read more

WHERE DO I EVEN START!? I started coming here when it first opened because it was really clean compared to where I used to go in Laurel. I have watched the establishment quickly go downhill. My experience here is always rushed. From the second I walk in, I am rushed to pick a color, which they try to talk you out of anyways. They are often understaffed (especially on the weekends) so the employees will start working on your nails and then bounce around to other people and before you know it you've been there for over an hour, your feet are in cold water, and 4 different people have done one part of your pedicure. They often skip the massage/lotion portion of your manicure/pedicure that you pay for. This place is not as clean as it used to be, the workers often have attitudes or are on the phone, and they overcharge you anyway they can. There have been times when my gel manicure has peeled off within days and upon complaining to them, they were mad at me as if it was my fault. They did redo it, but rushed through it so it wasn't any better the second time. It's honestly just so frustrating and it's not a relaxing experience whatsoever. read more

Visiting Modo Nail Bar was an okay experience. The actual process of getting a manicure and pedicure was very quick and nicely done. However after only a week of receiving a gel manicure I have 6 out of 10 nails chipped. I also have 1 toe nail chipped. I enjoyed the service but my color didn't last at all. This might be because of the color used or the kind of paints they have. I would like to visit again but would be very disappointed if I experienced this more than once. read more

I love love love this nail spot! It's so new & modernized. I've been to plenty of nail spots all around Maryland. Mainly in laurel & Columbia but nothing tops this one! What drew me here to begin with was the fact that you get a mimosa/wine with every service. I was quickly seated & shown all my pedicure options. This salon has a $1 for every minute rule. I tried this place on a whim. I have been to a couple of nail salons around here and have not been satisfied. And my nails usually last less than a week. The nail technician Hazel did my nails and I let her use her creativity. She did an awesome job and I have been getting compliments ever since. It has been 2 weeks and my nails still look good, except I need to get them filled and the polish is still on them (which has been a huge issue with the last two times I got my nails done). When I go back I will definitely request Hazel again. The salon is very clean and inviting. The dry bar is definitely a plus along with the wine and drinks that they offer. This is my nail salon. I come because of their hours. We can get an appointment as early as 9:30am on the weekdays. I also come for Tony! He always does my nails perfectly & he's so fast. I love him! On one visit, I told him that my birthday was coming up in a few days...he told the rest of the staff. Next thing I knew I had one hand being polished while i had a cupcake with a birthday candle in front of me & the whole store singing Happy Birthday . That was sooo sweet. I always go here to get my nails done, I usually get tips, not gel, and the price comes to about $35. When you pay in cash there is a slight discount which is nice! Go buy a bottle at the liquor store and head to a better place with quality and consistent services...like Gallery Nails in Rockville or Phoenix Nails in Montgomery Village. If I could only give a review on service I would but leaving this place just negated the decent service. So while out we decided to stop in and get a little pampering. The two ladies were polite and efficient. When going to pay the short bald Asian guy informed us that if we paid in cash we would get 5% off and pointed me to the atm. There's a note on the arm that says they'll refund you the dollar charge at the register. Cool, who doesn't like a discount. I grab 200 from the atm get to the register and give the guy 180 because for two it came out to 174, he takes the money, hands something to the woman, she walks away then he proceeds to half way count the money then tells me I gave him 160. I said no I gave you 180 and my sister and I both look at him like what just happened and he says he counted it in front of us maybe I dropped a 20 mind you there's about a good 20 feet from the atm to the register. Now I'm not perfect so I check the atm, nothing and he then proceeds to tell me he can't do anything if the atm didn't give all of what I asked for.. So again I make appointment tell him what I want then I get a voice message the day before saying he can't take me because the person who scheduled it scheduled it wrong and now there's no more available appointments. They day I have an appointment. This has happened more than once the little stupid man manager they have is always messing up people's appointments and I stopped going there because of him wasting me my time! Then they are never apologetic or accommodating to your issues. I've grown to hate Modo because they are unprofessional, rude and it's sad when you have a good nail technician like Johnny and the management continues to mess up his cliental. So, I am always one to give someone a chance however, this place will NEVER get my money for eyebrow services EVER AGAIN!! I visited this salon on 6/26 around 5:16 pm, passing time to get an oil change. I walked in and asked for two specific stylist, based on a referral through a friend. The hostess, said the two stylists were unavailable, but there are other stylist waiting. Cool, no problem. I'll wait. A few minutes later, there was a stylist available to assist me. We go to the waxing room and the very first thing I let her know is, "do not touch the top of my eyebrow". I just want them cleaned up and they do not need to be shaped. WELL...guess what I got?!?! A top touched, poorly shaped thin eyebrow!! I don't think anyone can imagine how LIVID I was/am for this, especially since I was specific in what I wanted. A few things happened here: They were dishonest from the beginning, as I learned that the two stylist that I mentioned to the hostess, do not even work in that salon and there is a completely poor understanding of the English language. I do not know how much more plain you can get with, DO NOT TOUCH THE TOP OF MY EYEBROW. Did I mention this happened a week before my birthday. I pray to goodness an eyebrow tint will fix the problem, while I grow these monstrosity of an eyebrow job out. They even had the nerve to offer a "discount" on my next service--TUH!! I only came here because its close to my house. Honestly, I tried to give this place a shot several times, but every time I left with crooked nails and a polish job I could have done myself. They also don't carry quality brands of nail polish, so it chips almost immediately. It seems clean and the staff are nice but thats the only reason I gave them any stars. read more

This was my first time at this salon and I have to say that I left underwhelmed. Kathy was super sweet and very attentive however, the gel and shaping was all over the place. I have too much gel on some nails covering my cuticles and most of them are uneven. I read online that they are sterile and this is not true at all which is another reason I will not be back. To top it off, a baby roach crawled out of the space on the nail station where the light fixture was right by my water. The staff is great but I am saddened by my experience. I even feel bad leaving this review but if I do not then the facility wont know what they need to improve on. read more

The last time I went to get my nails done, I came here. The place itself is gorgeous, the staff are super friendly, and it's really clean. But unfortunately my nails did not turn out the way I wanted to at all. I loved that the technicians take their time and don't rush, but I couldn't stand how they removed my previous gel manicure I had gotten somewhere else. Instead of using the acetone soak like I'm used to, my tech individually wrapped all my nails and then scraped off my old gels with a cuticle clipper. My nails were completely torn up, and weaker than they've ever been. One of my nails ripped off within the first few days cause of how weak my nails were. So annoyed. I was looking forward to this pedicure with my husband but the lady I got does not know how to massage. The spa pedicure clearly says it includes a reflexology massage and that was not even close to a massage. Imagine someone doing the same massage in the same place for 25 minutes. Just left this place. It was beautiful and big and mostly clean although there was a fly inside and when I opened the bathroom a door a tiny roach fell in front of me to the ground. But I understand all vermin can't be eliminated; it was just weird to see a fly and a roach ‍ I also think I had a very mediocre experience because of my tech Mimi. This was the fastest pedicure I've ever had and I don't mean that in a good way. She spilled polish on my toe and only halfway cleaned it up. The bottom of my toes still have purple in them. She also smudged my big toe and didn't do a good job of cleaning it up. Every other tech offered their clients beverages, including the very thorough pleasant tech Seynat who worked on my sister. I was offered no beverage. Mimi left a cold towel on my legs that I had to remove myself. She never even asked me what type of pedicure I wanted...and seemed visibly disinterested in me and my service once I declined to get gel. If I go back it will be with Seynat. read more

This salon is beautiful and conveniently located. Personally I would like the atmosphere and service to reflect the look of the salon and the high-end price point. When I arrived the establishments doors are wide open because it was a beautiful day but I would rather have the thermostat adjusted so that flies and other insects aren't able to come inside... had to shoo a couple of flies. I arrived 15 minutes early so that I could fill out the usual in-take form before my scheduled 2pm facial and gel manicure. So after filling out the form I gave it to the receptionist and Mr. Lee called for the aesthetician to start my facial... so she came for me unaware of what I was there for. She started talking about eyelashes so I'm like the facial comes with complimentary lashes??? She said no so I looked at Mr. Lee and he yelled in their language something that ended with... "facial!" She looked embarrassed and then lead me to the back to a room that was not clean. She turned around and grabbed a stool (the little stool the nail techs sit on to give pedicures) and told me to sit in it up against the wall while she cleaned the room. I refused and went back to the front were I waited and waited until I called out to Mr. Lee and said I'm still waiting. I had been there for over 40 minutes now without any service started. So she come out again and now I'm feeling like should I cancel the facial and just get a manicure. Long story short she didn't know what I wanted there was a language barrier. I asked did she read the in-take form, did she know what kind of facial I wanted, she didn't understand me. I felt frustrated so I just surrendered to the process and prayed that she knew what she was doing. Although the feeling was rushed we did spend an hour on the facial and the manicure was better... so the lesson learned here was don't try to combine services i.e., facial and manicure.
