We went to Moe's for a birthday dinner during Covid. There were 8 of us there and they were able to accommodate and slide tables together for us in one area and still have other areas free for other patrons. All the guys working had masks on and respected social distancing. We all enjoyed everything we had! I have had a Po Boy sandwich before and wasn't a fan so when I asked for a recommendation and the guy suggested the Shrimp Moe Boy I didn't have high hopes. I am so happy I tried it! I have been craving it ever since! The sides we're all great too, probably the best collards I have had at a restaurant! The only thing I didn't love is that their chips are just a bag of Lay's. Where do I begin? I see the place often and think oh I should try their food, but no one ever says anything about them. Oh well maybe next time. Had seen Moe's for some time now, and each time I passed by I lamented its name. Not that it's bad, but rather that it's taken - by the bigger chain serving Southwest food. But I stopped in tonight on a Tuesday whim because i was hungry and thought I could get food, fast. Which I did. But I didn't expect it to taste that good. The pork sandwich was darn good, and filling. Topped it with slaw at no charge. The Mac-n-Cheese was delicious - actual melted cheese w macaroni noodles versus some type of cheese sauce. Green beans were fine - stewed or canned, I couldn't tell. And I was hungry and ordered an extra special side - the brisket chili. Next time I go I'm going to make that my meal. We had this recently and it was okay. Not my favorite but really nothing bad to say about it. The portions for the sides seemed a little small. But the taste of the meat was pretty delicious. My husband really enjoyed the smoked wings. We would probably get those again. The trouble I ran into was I didn't get everything I ordered and I had it delivered by DoorDash. I called the business and they were ready to reimburse me or have me get some stuff for free on next trip. Just left Moe's. The food and atmosphere was great! We had the Shrimp Moe Boy sandwich with sides and ribs. The shrimp was large and tender with great seasonings. The bread was awesome and oh so fresh and toasted. The ribs were tender and the sauce was delish. The sides of Mac and cheese and greens were on point. Best of all was the warm greeting and care given by Mobley at the front. He seemed genuinely concerned that we were satisfied with our meal. We will definitely return every time we are in Durham! Clean presentation with a traditional NC core menu supplemented by some rotating specials. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Food was delicious. The toasted jalapeño cornbread was a standout way to build off the traditional. Seating was well kept and plentiful. Pricing was slightly more than expected, but not unreasonable for a college town in the middle of the current inflationary economy. I will definitely return if I'm ever back in Durham. read more
