I've been here twice and have been blown away by the food! Seriously the entire menu is delicious. But I'm leaving only 2 stars because my waitress most recently was incredibly rude. I honestly have no idea what we did to warrant such poor service but it got to the point where she was short and curt with us by the time the bill came. It was super odd and honestly shocking. I hope management provides better training to their staff because I'm not the only review here who has mentioned poor service. It's a shame because the food is so good. read more

Celebrated an anniversary. We researched some of the best restaurants in the area, and MOFU SHOPPE exceeded our expectations. Their dumplings are delicious! I especially enjoyed having the 'D'Impossible Dumpling.' We gave it a shot to try their spin on tater tots- they were great! The dessert menu was fantastic- although for some reason they have not updated their menu, and are still listing some items they don't serve. Highly recommend MOFU! read more

Delicious food and efficient service. There are various options for a mixed group of people. Good for office lunch outings. I had the coconut rice bowl with roasted mushrooms. The coconut rice was very fluffy and fragrant, the roasted mushrooms included a variety of mushrooms and the sauce was delicious. Good portion size! read more

So so good!!! Everything here is amazing from the ambiance to the appetizers, drinks, and main meals! We started with the kimchi tots which were the BEST! So original and so delicious - you have to get them!!! I had the impossible meat stir fry which was delicious as well. My review as a vegetarian - we came here for a date night earlier this week. Atmosphere - Warm, cozy, cute! Service - Nice, attentive, and helpful but also rushed - waitress helped us understand the menu and portion sizes. However, I could barely make out / absorb what she was saying since she was talking so fast. Had a minor blip where we called to say we were running late and they said they would accommodate us but the communication ended up getting lost in a game of telephone and they canceled; however we were still able to get seated no problem however since it was a weeknight. Food - Overall the meu was highly customizable / swapable for substitutions which was nice. Would recommend the dumplings; TBD on maybe some of the other menu items that I did not get to try. Dimpossible dumplings - My favorite item that we had. Very tasty, but tiny (vs the other dumplings) and not served in the cute fresh-steamed wooden boxes like the other dumplings (perhaps because they were pan-fried). The sauces that the dumpings came with did not really complement the dumplings at all - the dark sauce, akin to a traditional dumpling sauce was oily/not very flavorful, and the spicy red sauce was did not go with the dumpling flavor at all (seemed to be a blend of ketchup and sriracha). Fried Flounder Bao subbed with Tofu - Decent; good balanced flavor. Could have used more spicy mayo. Also plating could have been better - as soon as you pick up one of them, the other one drops and spilled contents onto plate. Corn Curry - Decent, not bad. Good flavor, corn added a nice freshness. Decent portion. Winter melon soup - Such a huge let-down. Super bland, unseasoned, worse than storebought soup. Yo tiao bread was served dunked in the middle of the soup and got soggy - not sure I follow that line of decision-making. Only good thing was the drops of herb oil. MOFU Shoppe is a Korean fusion restaurant in downtown Raleigh that has very friendly service, a clean and crisp interior layout and a solid tap, wine, and cocktail menu. We came here for dinner in a large group, so they are good at accommodating a variety of party sizes. MOFU Shoppe originally started as a food truck and then opened this restaurant location. I never had the opportunity to eat at their food truck, but this was there next step. I was slightly disappointed by the food menu options. There weren't a lot of variety and options for dinner, and it is more on the pricey side than what I expected. I got a glass of wine and shared the potsticker appetizers with my boyfriend. They were well filled with a generous amount of filling. For my entree, I ordered the Fish Tacos. Each taco (3 in total) is filled with a whole fillet, which is enough to feed two people, but I was it was more flavorful and had more of the sauce that was on top of the fish, or extra on the side. Some friends ordered the Smoked Pork Belly Bowl, and said it was tasty, but wasn't really special, especially for its cost. A few other people ordered the Chicken Curry Pasta and only liked it slightly more than I did my tacos. MOFU Shoppe has a cool, chill setting, but needs a broader menu of large plate/dinner options to keep up with the other restaurants in downtown Raleigh. I wanted to like it, but left a bit underwhelmed and disappointed. I hope to come back again and give it another shot. read more

I have been to Mofu Shoppe quite a few times over the last couple years. Always supported the girls when they first had their Foodtruck and the food is consistently delicious. I ordered take out from there last week-- the food came out fast, was hot and fresh, and the staff was super friendly and very covid conscious. Very cute little spot downtown with two levels. Was able to sit comfortably distanced inside. Only disappointment was the dumplings were quite small. It was the only thing on the menu I was interested in (as a very picky eater). They were delicious, but I should've ordered two servings so it felt more like a meal. read more

I cannot say anything bad about this place!! It's seriously pho-nomenal! To ensure the safety of the staff and other customers, they do check temperature at the entrance and wear masks while serving. They really made us feel at ease by dining-in. Their customer service is on point, never had a glass get empty. Now, the food!!! After reading the cooking background of this restaurant, they started as a food truck winner and now successfully opened a booming business. The food was exceptional!! The crispy chicken (sando) was cooked with a guaranteed crunch in every bite while the meat remained juicy in the center. The fries (on the side) were seasoned with what I believe was a five spice seasoning. It was absolutely delicious. The asian churro desserts were outstanding, but the vietnamese coffee mousse is a must try! It's super light with a nice coffee taste topped with pecans for a nutty crunch. I am SO incredibly disappointed with this place, they should not list themselves as pan-asian or anything asian fusion. The drinks, atmosphere, and service from out waitress, Olivia, were all great. But the food? Absolutely horrible. The "moo sauce" wings were okay- their take on chicken wings with an asian sauce, just your basic chicken wings. We had an awesome dinner at the MOfU tonight. Nice ambiance with excellent service. We ordered their wings with Woo sauce and D'Impossible dumplings. Wings was cooked perfect and the woo sauce was little sweet and tangy. Dumpling was just amazing; moist, well cooked and super flavorful. I never had a green dumplings before:).. Had two dishes... why I am not sure. The Tom yum mac and cheese with 1/2 diameter udon style noodles and their profiled and name sake dumplings. This is Asian fusion at it's worst. Dumplings are dense and wrapping is chewy and dense. Asian dumplings are supposed to be delicate, with light packaging and delicately flavorful on their own ...and sauces enhances the dumpling. NOT THESE. Yikes. The mac and cheese fusion... first... combo of cheese and tom-yum flavors in a soupy mess is not great. The noodles are so dense and chewy... there is a reason why you never see udon with such thickness in Asia. As I got 1/3 of way through... my body had a visceral reaction to want to vomit.... Started to look like I was going to do it right at table. Drank a ton of water and tea and it subsided. Waiter packaged rest up and not sure why I accepted it... took it home and threw it away. Turns out the thickness of noodles created a blockage in my esophagus. This dish needs instructions.... Chew a minimum of 20 times before swallowing. So... caveat emptor. They definitely need to redo the menu. Perhaps the other dishes are better... but... with this experience... not sure I am going ever again. One last comment... if your gonna promote dumplings as part of your key differentiation... at least get this right guys!!! Lovely service BTW... and very accommodating. Food needs work. read more

Came here on a Saturday night. We called half an hour before we arrived and fortunately they were able to seat us. The interior design was really cool and we loved it. The two of us shared 1) green curry mussels 2) pork & chive dumplings and 3) braised short ribs. I have to say their food exceeded far beyond our original expectations. Okay, WOW! Never in a million years did I think I would be so obsessed with dumplings, but these are just too good! I was in town for a wedding and my friend and I decided to check this place out. We ordered the Bulgogi, Pork, and the Pork and Chive dumplings as well as the Flounder Tacos. I was very impressed with everything we ordered. We decided to try MOFU Shoppe after hearing about the food truck success of their owners. We went on a Saturday night around 6PM and they were not too busy yet, but by the time we were leaving they were much busier. I started off with the Hot Tammy cocktail while I perused the menu. It is the perfect fall drink for those who enjoy spices! There is definitely a bite to it, but I enjoyed it. But I can also see that it would be a bit too much for others. For our party of 5 we ordered 3 different appetizers: the Crispy Smoked Pork Belly, Pork & Chive Dumplings, and Green Curry Mussels. Of the three, the dumplings were my favorite. The plate came with 5 dumplings and they were super fresh. Then my next favorite was the mussels. I really liked the sauce with the pork belly bits in it. The Crispy Smoked Pork Belly was also good, but just not as outstanding as the other two dishes. For my entrée, I ordered the 5 Spice Duck. The duck was cooked perfectly and the drunken cherries paired with it were really good. But I do wish there had been more cherries or sauce for the duck. The duck sat on top of a mushroom cake which was a generous portion, but I feel like it could have used a bit more kick or flavor to it. Since we had ordered quite a few appetizers, I was too full to finish my meal and took the rest home. The service was great throughout the night. And the décor is very trendy. I loved that they have a huge window/door that opens up for nice nights. While it is probably too cold to thoroughly enjoy this feature now, I bet it is great for summer or autumn nights. read more

Backlogging reviews from last month - Our first visit to Mofu was the highlight. We loved the trendy decor with long bar, open garage door and airy, 2-story roominess. I opted for a weeknight , since reservations aren't available. We were greeted by Sunny and the hostess & given a table up a long staircase to a table with a commanding view of the space. This is a great place to sit, if there isn't anyone at the large tops at the same time, btw. It's been said before, but bears repeating...the mussels were top notch! The serving was enough for two and the flavors were spot on. All the plates came out at the same time and the table was full. Fried, not steamed dumplings, brussel sprouts and salad. I'd love to bring visitors to Raleigh here to enjoy the balcony perspective and fresh, good eats. read more

Then... the black bean mussels were mediocre at best with no bread for dipping, the pork khao soi was very bland and boring. I even requested extra spicy and it was not even close. The Smoked Pork Belly Bowl was TERRIBLE! The poached egg was undercooked with a runny white as it blanketed a mound of cold corn and carrots. I absolutely love this space! This is a great spot to either grab and drink or a bite to eat with friends. There's a loft area that can give a more private dining experience or possibly an area to reserve for a large group or event. This store does not have their own WiFi so you have to connect to the cities. They also do not have and drink specials or TVs. The food is a little more on the high end $$-$$$, but all the food tastes really good. Their are different style table seating, high tops, 2 too low tables and a long family style table. Came in from out of town for a wedding and needed somewhere for dinner the night before. We found this place on yelp and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad we did! First, reservations on open table were beyond easy. The staff was incredibly kind and quick. And the food was delicious. We got the Katsu chicken, fried rice and thai basil noodles. I'm so excited to go back! The menu isn't huge, but there is a ton of variety! I literally wanted to order every single thing on the menu which hardly ever happens. I like the industrial/rustic vibe of the interior. The space is super open, but it never got too loud. For dinner we ordered the sticky cauliflower, the dumplings, and after I saw Chip's photo on Yelp the chimichurri steak. That cauliflower?! So good, I could have eaten like three plates. The small plates are an accurate description, small, but good as an appetizers or a bunch of small plates for sharing. Dumplings were tasty as you'd expect from their food truck. Now onto our large plate, the steak. My husband always tells me not to order steak at restaurants because every time I am disappointed, not here. The steak was super flavorful, the chimichurri sauce was on point, the roasted tomatoes with it were awesome, oh and did I mention the egg yolk egg roll? They literally fry up an egg yolk inside an egg roll wrapper and then you crack it open over your steak. Amazing! The only downside was we ordered the steak medium-rare and it came out medium-well to well done. We started eating it anyways and honestly it was so flavorful and delicious that we still really enjoyed every bite. When I mentioned the issue to our waiter he was very nice about it and took the feedback to the chef. They offered to fire off a new one for us, but since we were already half way through we told them that it was not necessary. The manager then ended up coming over and comping our desserts. That is some great customer service! You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't save room for dessert. Seriously! I'm a big rice pudding fan, when I saw they had a coconut, honey rice pudding, with a brûlée top I knew I couldn't pass it up. It was amazing, there is no way I can go back and not order it again. My husband got the blueberry cheesecake and loved it as well. Bottom line: MOFU Shoppe offers a great Asian fusion experience. Large, open, but hip type of atmosphere. Awesome diverse menu choices in both small and large plate formats that taste wonderful in the choices I enjoyed, with attentive and positive service. I really dig MOFU Shoppe! The Deets: They say on their website that MO-FU is a take on the Chinese words "more" "fortune" so I will say it was very fortunate that my friend Jonathan E. took me over to MOFU Shoppe to try these guys out. Walking in, I love the feel of the place. It's very open, with two levels of dining space and a nice sized bar on the ground floor. If you put hip/chic/industrial/unfinished in a blender and mix you'd come up with something similar to MOFU's environment. We secured a table on the upper level and our server came with water and menus, ready to show us what MOFU had to offer. She was very helpful and attentive, awesome job. The menu itself is a nice mix of Asian fusion type dishes in both small plates and large plates type of formats. I started off with the Pork and Chive Dumplings. I thought these tasted great, they are a little more...?sturdy?...than most dumplings I encounter and I liked it. They were not flimsy or wimpy and had awesome flavors coming through especially with the sauces provided. For my large plate I ordered the Grilled Chimichurri Steak accompanied with fried egg yolk and roasted mushrooms/scallions (I asked them to hold off on the jalapeno cream as I'm not one for overly spicy food). The taste of the steak was amazingly good, with being truly flavorful with enough seasoning to make it interesting without it being spicy and overpowering...perfect balance for me. This one impressed me and I would love to enjoy it again in the future. In all, this visit to try out MOFU Shoppe was a great experience beginning to end and I give them two thumbs up! read more

So first off legit the crush porkbelly bowl is perfection it needs a peanut sauce however....I repeat it needs a peanut sauce and I would. One back like weekly to eat it!!! Second talk about the best dumplings in town omg the duck and chives ones are amazing and I highly recommend them perfectly sticky and filling. Third and five spice duck it was good but I'd like to taste a little more spice the duck breast is perfectly tender and juicy so I don't mind but I was expecting something different. The flavors, the presentation. All amazing. But last night we were greeted by the best server in the Triangle. She knew the menu like the back of her hand, was super personable, and clearly had a passion for what she does. It elevated our experience, and cemented in my mind that MOFU is one of the top restaurants in Raleigh. The interior of this restaurant makes the experience. The food is subpar and you are definitely paying for the experience but all in all it's worth a trip. I came to MoFu Shoppe on a food tour with Taste Carolina Gourmet. After sampling the food, listening to the owner talk about the history and vision of the restaurant, and experiencing the cool vibe, I absolutely cannot wait to come back and try a full meal. All the food was delicious! I had one of their signature dumplings, a chicken wing, brussel sprouts, and a thai basil rickey. The brussel sprouts were my favorite.
