I been to Mofu Shoppe a couple of times over the years and never been disappointed. Their food is always flavorful and they frequently introduce new dishes. This time I tried the Braised Cumin Lamb that was just added to the menu. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. I love Bok Choy so that was a hit. We also got the Mofu Wings which were perfectly crispy. Just the way I like them. For my cocktail, I had their take on an Old Fashioned. It's was citrusy and had a unique flavor. I would get it again.
first time coming in and the restaurant is beautiful. an upscale casual dining experience. the host was super friendly and led us to our table quickly. we did have a reservation too. we had a party of four and ordered a lot of food. first were the wings. they were glazed in a fish sauce based sauce. i'm vietnamese so i LOVE fish sauce and unfortunately, it didn't have a strong flavor of fish sauce. i understand it is a very powerful ingredient. but the wings were so crispy and juicy and the cilantro sauce on the side was great too. the pork and chive dumplings were pretty standard. nothing special. delicious nonetheless. mussels were great as well. the broth was a tom yum soup based. the fried chicken bucket was the same batter as the wings but came with breast meat too. it unfortunately wasn't anything that special. it was good and it said it was brined but i didn't taste any brine flavor in the meat. the side pickles were okay and the rice was cooked perfectly. also the bao buns that came with it were the perfect vehicle for the crispy chicken. overall, it was a good meal. it wasn't amazing but i still enjoyed my meal. the staff were friendly and helpful. i would come again in the future to try other items on their menu.
Friday we had reservations for dinner here with family to celebrate our daughter's masters graduation from NCSU. We were a little late due to traffic and called to let them know. When we arrived they were so nice and didn't make us feel badly. Our waiter was awesome. He was funny and honest and suggested some really great things to try. We ordered it all. And then some. We had all of the dumplings. Not sure which was my favorite but I could not tell the beyond wasn't meat. So good. The white pepper chicken was really tasty but don't eat the red peppers if you're sensitive to heat. They are Fresno peppers and are en fuego. Brussels sprouts were fantastic! Interesting tofu puffs in there. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the tots. They got soggy too quickly. I had the cold brew martini because my jet lagged booty was lagging. It was perfection. We tried the lychee margarita, the aperol things, the spritz, and a few different beers. All good. Our waiter remained awesome throughout our whole drawn out evening. I hope we can visit another time we are in Raleigh. Parking is a little difficult on weekends.
I had heard really great things about MOFU Shoppe, so I was really excited to try it. It's in a fun spot in downtown Raleigh. I would say it's perfect for a work dinner or a date night. It's got a cool, industrial vibe. We got seated without a reservation, but I'd say there's a decent amount of tables in the downstairs area and in the upstairs loft. The service was great, and our server was really nice and helpful. The menu is small, with a few appetizers, entrees, and dumplings. They also sell cocktails, which were Asian inspired. We ordered the wings, noodles, and a rice dish. I will say that the portions were pretty sizeable. My complaint about MOFU is that the taste of the dishes were inconsistent. While we loved the wings, we felt that the noodle dish was not that tasty. It was mostly just paste and noodles. Overall, I'd say there are some standout dishes that we liked here, but unfortunately we had some that really let us down.
we were going to a show nearby and wanted a good place for dinner with friends so decided to try MOFU. It's an asian-fusion restaurant with small plates and mains - we each got a couple of different things to try. most were good, some were alright. we got the kimchi tots, the mofu seasonal salad, the pork belly, the wings, beef tartare, and the beef noodle soup. we also got drinks. standouts were the salad, the wings, and the pork belly. the tots were alright and the noodle soup was not good. drinks were good and the service was great
Decent Asian option downtown. The menu is what initially drew me in for the uniqueness of some dishes. The inside is really nice, decor isn't the cheesy "asian inspired" randomness, but more of a nice modern touch of Asia. Started off with the Mofu Wings with the nuoc mam sauce - the chicken was fried nicely but the nuoc mam was too sweet opposed to the anticipated prevalence of fish sauce flavor. Also ordered the Minced Pork Stir Fry with the canton noodles - reminded me of a Dan Dan inspired dish but the meat was different, in a good way. The only gripe was it was too salty. Overall, service was good and was fun to see they were hosted what looked like a dinner club or something while we were dining there. Would come back and try other dishes.
On a busy first Friday night in downtown Raleigh, we decided to have dinner at Mofu Shoppe! There was a 35-40 minute wait for a table for 2 (we didn't make a reservation), so we opted to sit at the last 2 seats at the bar! It took a little time for one of the awesome bar tenders to wait on us, but it's understandable for a super busy Friday night. It's a super cute vibe. There's even a little upstairs balcony looking seating area. I really liked the vibe here. The service was pretty good to top it off! My daughter had been here before and surprisingly it was my first time. Since she had decided to come here again, I let her order. She ordered us several shareable to share :) The Beef Bulgogi Dumplings were absolutely amazing. It came with an even more yummy kimchi bbq sauce for dipping. The Kimchi tots were amazing, such an amazing flavor profile. On to the Mofu Wings, they have a few flavors, we ordered the Thai Chili, soooo delicious. And lastly the Crispy Brussels w/ Fried Tofu. The Brussels were delicious. I was literally dancing in my seat the food was so good. If you know me, I hardly ever give 5's. I give glowing 4's, but 5's are rare. I'll be dreaming about this food until I go back next.

I was excited to try Mofu Shoppe since I heard some good things about it plus they won The Great Food Truck Race a few years ago. It has a casual industrial vibe with an expansive bar. The setting is perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. Cocktails were excellent. The lychee margarita was amazing. I forget what the other drink's called but it had mango purée, sake & coconut. It tasted just like mango sticky rice! Mofu wings & pork & chive dumplings were pretty good. Braised cumin lamb shank was fork tender and well seasoned. The collards that came as a side were phenomenal! I could eat bowls of that. My entree, the Thai Red Squash Curry was a bit too salty. It probably would been better if the rice was served separately instead of in the same bowl. Service was just ok...not very attentive since our server disappeared for a while & didn't refill our water. I'd definitely come back just for the drinks & the collards!
My friends and I made reservations for this place after hearing lots of great things about it. We got the kimchi tots to share and I got the Thai Basil Noodles for myself. The tots were absolutely wonderful and a great flavor profile between 2 different cuisines. The Thai Basil Noodles were okay. Definitely lacked spice but can always ask for chili oil or siracha on the side. My friends got the dumplings but you only get 5 for $12 which we did not think were worth it especially after trying them since they were not anything special. I'm inside atmosphere was really cool. Lots of open space and a good bar as well as a good drink selection. Staff was friendly as well and pretty helpful. Prices were decently priced except for the dumplings. Overall, a good location and pretty decent food. Will likely come back one day if there are new vegetarian options added to the menu.
Everything was delicious! We ordered both version of dumplings and wife and I couldn't decide which one we liked more. Also ordered the pork belly bao buns and both agreed was one of the best we had. Pork belly was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The entrees were very good. Shaved beef noodles were tender and flavorful and wife loved her fried rice. Good amount of spice but not over powering. Definitely coming back here!
YES finally a dumpling spot you can count on! You will not regret going here, getting a ton of stuff, splitting it, and leaving full. Pretty much everything we had was incredible but make sure to get the twice cooked pork belly - TRULY insane, I am still thinking about it. Sweet, crispy, buttery, GET IT. We got all the dumplings with protein and I loved them all. The chicken and ginger is a wonton so it's crispy fried and crunchy, incredible. The pork and chive have a great sauce and was so savory. My fave was the bulgogi but I mean bulgogi is just an unfair comparison. GET TO MOFU AND THANK ME LATER!
I love the fact that this place has vegan options that aren't just tofu versions of various meats. That's what makes this place unique. They have food that is delicious, flavorful, and for everyone! This is a cute restaurant in downtown Raleigh and you have to park on the street. I would say it is a little overpriced, but otherwise the food was great. We got the kimchi tots without kimchi, shrimp fried rice, impossible thai basil noodles, and impossible dumplings. We got our food to-go but it was still hot, rich in flavor, and satisfying. Our top item was the impossible dumplings! These were amazing, you would've thought it was real meat inside and we loved the sauce it came with too. The tots were good- we loved the dipping sauces and the noodles were great as well with a generous portion of the impossible meat. I thought the beef was tender and delicious, however my piece was full of fat. It came with amazing mashed potatoes too but they were overpowered by the onion relish (?) that was on top of them and kinda ruined them. I would not get the shrimp fried rice again because as a person who loves fried rice this was not tasty to me and it was very lackluster. However, there is so many menu options and because of the quality of everything else we had I would definitely be back to try the fish curry, fish tacos, chicken wings, and more!

MOFU Dumpling Shoppe slapped. Crispy wings were on point, especially the sweet chili. The shaven beef noodles had just the right spice, and the lo mein was solid. The Little Heart drink was a must-have - sweet with a buzz. Pork and chive dumplings were good, but I'll try a new flavor next time. Love the vibe outside city market! read more
This restaurant has potential to be good and maybe it was the day that we stopped by that made it very underwhelming. Most of the food was lacking flavor. Almost like things were under seasoned. We had an order of chicken dumplings, chicken curry, and beef noodle soup. The curry was the worst of the 3. I would recommend the packaged curry from the store over the curry offered here. We did receive good service and when I brought up that the food wasn't very good they offered to remake it. The remade version tasted the same. The restaurant did comp the curry so I will likely come back to try other foods mainly the dumplings. read more

The food is great but overpriced because their portions are way too small and the service was terrible. I will not visit again. My side dishes did not come with my main meal. Had to ask for my drink. Waitress and hostess acted stuck up. read more

Don't sleep on this spot!! My crew and I stop by here on our venture out to downtown during First Friday- quick seating to the bar which was actually pretty great. As we know with more than 3 the bar is a difficult way to hold a convo, so I'd recommend getting there earlier. We started off with the B-Side 75 and a Thai Basil Ricky (not pictured)- the B-Side paired well with the dumplings and the Thai Basil was so refreshing! Please, get the Kimchi tots and the Pork Chive dumplings the basil pops and the dumpling skins aren't overall thick and the filling ratio is fantastic. The kimchi tots I wish there was more kimchi, but that's because I love tang and bitter tastes :) Any who I'll recommend this to anyone and everyone; and bring back my friends for a stellar experience. read more

This is a lovely but slightly overpriced. The ambience is my favorite thing about this restaurant. It's laidback and comfortable. Well decorated and not very loud. I came with my husband after a day walking in downtow and we enjoyed sitting here and taking a break. As I stated, i believe the food was a tad overpriced. I had the pho and though it was good it though wasn't anything to go home and brag about. My husband had the rice bowl and the pork belly was delicious. The menu didnt have as many options, I felt a bit limited. The service had no fault. The hostess was very friendly and our waiter did a great job. He was attentive but not overbearing. I'm not displeased i tried this place but I'm uncertain if I'll be coming back any time soon. read more

Mofu Shoppe has a beautifully decorated and relaxed ambiance inside. The service was great and we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. We started with a Thai Basil drink, kimchi tots, and the Mofu wings. These were DELICIOUS, I don't think I've had such tender and well seasoned wings in a long time. The kimchi tots were one of my favorite dishes - the kimchi paired so well with the saltiness of the tater tots. The white pepper chicken was a special they had and was also great - it reminded me of Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The coconut curry was alright, we wished it had more rice to go with it. Unfortunately, the dish that didn't stand out was the tofu plate. I ordered it in replacement of the smoked pork belly it came with, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. It was a dry dish that I wish had more sauce and/or seasoning. The pickled daikon and carrot was a great addition though. Overall, I would come back for drinks and their great appetizers. Excited to try more of them! read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh! I come here for cocktails and the Brussel sprouts with pork belly but everything on their menu is delicious! The restaurant is so beautiful and I love that they can lift the windows during nice days and let the fresh air and sunshine in. The service is always great as well. read more

Found this place on google during Mother's Day weekend, but didn't get to go until yesterday (2 weekends later) since we have to drive a little over an hour. Cute place, food was good and so was the service. Posted pictures of what we ordered and we will definitely go back. read more

Visited while on a work trip last month, and was a bit disappointed given my high expectations. The atmosphere is contemporary and clean - with a bar, wooden tables and chairs, and a loft area overlooking the main dining hall. Our group didn't have much time for lunch so we ordered quickly. I ordered hot green tea, and it was served in a french press - quite unusual! The others I was eating with were local to Raleigh and had their lunch favorites - mostly one of the bowls (rice bowl, poke bowl...). I opted for the pork belly Banh Mi instead, which is my favorite sandwich. Service was friendly, and our food came quickly. A small MOFU salad preceded my lunch entrée, and I polished it off quickly. Fresh greens, but on the dry side, with thin sliced toast instead of croutons. Then my Banh Mi arrived. It was massive and overstuffed, the innards spilling out, almost Dagwood-like! I picked it up and immediately put it back down - it was greasy to the touch. I opened it up to see what was causing this - it was the pork belly, which was overly greasy, and they had also liberally dressed up the fixings, adding to the sogginess. I didn't want to cause a delay by sending it back, so I carefully took a bite. Usually I have no problem with juice dripping down my chin while I eat; unfortunately this was a bit too much! The sandwich tasted fine, but I'd have enjoyed it much more if they'd dialed back a bit on what was inside - sometimes, less is more. We wrapped up lunch by sharing an order of Asian Churros, again not something I'm used to seeing, so kudos to them for surprising me again. It was softer than the Latin American version, but cloyingly sweet. A good idea, poorly executed. Overall, nice effort, but they have a few things to work on. Looking forward to trying one of the lunch bowls next time I'm here. read more

This place has been on my list and I finally made some time to check it out. I ordered take out online for lunch one day and was pleasantly surprised. The curbside service was prompt. The food was piping hot and smelled utterly delicious. I dove into the impossible dumplings first. OMGGG! A must try!! So flavorful and light. You can definitely tell they make the dumplings in house as they are fresh and have a light crisp. They are $12 for 5 and it's def worth it! It comes with soy sauce and some sort of sweet and sour sauce which are both good, but the dumplings are fantastic just on their own. The Thai basil noodles were just as good as well. There was a bit of spice that wasn't too overwhelming. It's loaded with lots of veggies, which I loved. The portion was great as well. It's definitely enough for two servings. Parking may be difficult since it's downtown but it's worth the hassle. I am so looking forward to checking out some of their other menu items. This is a must try for all my vegan/vegetarian friends! read more

We did not have the chance to try the food truck so I cannot compare this sit down location to its predecessor. All I know is this place rocks. We came on a busy night, sat at the bar and were wowed from there. Crispy Brussels are amazing, every bite was like fireworks in my mouth. The bao buns were phenomenal; the spicy Mayo drizzle on top made me beg for more. The pork and chive dumplings were crispy and tender. We came here tonight after making reservations for 7:30-definitely recommend making reservations because this place is hopping! We were seated after having our temperatures taken; hand sanitizer was also available upon entering. We were seated at a table with candlelight. Starting with the ambiance and decor, I loved the industrial feel and lighting. It had a very trendy vibe and is perfect for every occasion, whether it's getting a bite after work or a date night. The service was exceptional. The staff was friendly from the time we stepped inside until the time we left. We were checked on by multiple staff, all being super helpful with the menu and recommendations. The pork dumplings were absolutely phenomenal. The beef bulgogi was quite good, as well. The fried rice was yummy--I liked that it wasn't super heavy and was a different flair than your typical. The Brussel sprouts made me love brussel sprouts and that's truly saying something. Loved the pickled onion. The Jazzmaster and the Gingham Style were great. I loved the plum cayenne salted rim on the Jazzmaster. The spice from the Gingham Style gave it a good kick. The price was very reasonable, too, especially for downtown dining. We told the waitress we were going to be back even before trying anything, if that tells you anything. Can't wait to come back to try other things---although the pork dumplings will always be on our list. read more
MOFU did not disappoint! We will definitely be making this one of our regular spots, especially for dumplings! Brussels- some of the best I have ever had at a restaurant. Loved all of the different flavors Dumplings- homemade and it showed! Get a bunch and split with a group. Thai Basil Noodles- These were the best main dish, so flavorful. Dan Dan Noodles- I liked these as well, but they had a little too much meat for my liking. Churros- The perfect dessert, they were super light and delish. read more

This place was everything reviews stated!!!! The ambience was on point and service was excellent . Wings was fried to perfection and the wontons was best I have. Do yourself a favor and get all the sauces on the side. read more
We frequent Mofu shop since we're around the area pretty regularly! It's a great place to dine with friends get lost with good conversation and great foods that we can share. Cocktails are delicious and thyme always have something interesting to try! We came here in January with a group of friends! We all had a couple round of drinks trying different ones on the menu! We tried all the dumplings they had as appetizers and we could have simply kept ordering them as they were simple, delicious and easily shareable! But on this day they had a Bone Marrow Pho special that I just had to try! And I'm glad I did! It didn't seem like a big bow of food, but it was! I was stuffed when I finished my meal! The broth was seasoned perfectly and I didn't need to add any other seasoning! I definitely wish I had more bone marrow but I'm sure my cholesterol appreciated the fact that it only had one! Really enjoyed my visit to Mofu Shoppe! Made reservations for a Wednesday night at 6. Only one or two other tables were taken when we got there. They were very cognizant of making things feel safe with COVID. They take your temperature at the door and ask you to keep your mask on unless actively eating. There is also hand sanitizer readily available. I cannot recommend the Kimchi fries enough! The spicy Mayo and the sweet soy sauce are perfect additions to the fries. The wait staff was wonderful and very attentive of any needs. read more

I'm really glad I have this place a second try. The first time I went, the food and drinks weren't quite right. I didn't hate but didn't love anything worth coming back for. Now that I went back recently, it's sooo much better. The chicken wings soo sauce and the chili lime were great. I loved the pork as well as the bulgogi dumplings. We got fish tacos and the smoked duck poutine which we both loved. If you went here when they first opened like I did and wasn't impressed, you should definitely give them another shot. I loveeeee this place and will definitely be back! The ambiance is super cute and I felt like I was in a far away destination. I don't know where to begin *heavy sigh*. Do yourself a favor and get Kimchi tots! They were so tasty and crispy just like I like. I loved the pot stickers and wontons as well. To be honest, everything was amazing! They don't skimp on lobster in the lobster fried rice either. read more

This place served me the best burger I've had in years!! Seriously it's that good! And the fries with the 5 spice seasoning are sooooo good! Really good beer choice too! I got the mouse for dessert, it was ok, nothing special, wouldn't order that again. Definitely will be back for the burger though! read more
First time at this beautiful restaurant. Felt very COVID safe with high ceilings and lots of space between tables. We ordered the Berry Smash and Lychee Margarita. A bit later we ordered the Brussels appetizer. The appetizer was literally at our table within two minutes but still no drinks. We held off on the appetizer because we prefer to enjoy our cocktails first. They were absolutely delicious. Once we dug into the Brussels they were amazing, too. For entrees I had the Pork Belly Bowl and husband had the Mofu burger. They were both good but the cocktails and Brussels were the highlight. Small water glasses and we sat without water for awhile. Waitress was super sweet. She was trying her best but said they were short staffed. Overall, very enjoyable experience. read more

First time last evening. We called and found quick avail at the bar. Seated us at the end just the two of us. Easy, polite hostesses and a smiling bartender! Went with a couple cocktails made perfectly to start. Then decided on The Green curry mussels (we had been told at another place same eve seafood wasn't avail due to gas issues?). Pic attached of the best, largest mussels we have had since one time in HonFluer, France! Tres Bon!! Moved onto the chicken wings and dumplings next which were, again large and meaty and quite good. All in all a great experience with a very personable staff who were doing their very best in the "Psuedo Post Covid" times we are in. Highly recommend read more
