The beef noodle soup was definitely flavorful! The Dan Dan noodles were not as delicious unfortunately due to lack of seasoning. However, the skewers did help make up for the flavor when paired. I came here for dinner yesterday evening. We got seated in a booth right away. I liked the ambiance of the place. It was very contemporary and relaxed. Service was efficient. We were attended to and received water refills in a timely manner. I ordered the large classic beef noodles to share with my daughter. This size is definitely large enough so that two people could share it comfortably. You also won't feel too full after. There was a decent amount of beef as well. So how was it? Very flavourful. The Lamb skewers were tasty tender and had a slightly crispier exterior. Squid tentacles were soft and delicious and not overly saucy. Beef Noodle soup with pickled mustard was a light refreshing soup. If you like pickled flavour then make sure this is on your table. I added an egg which I could have done without but it was still very yummy. The egg was cooked through but I would have preferred a waxy egg. Dan Dan Noodles were very tasty. I love how they were generous with the peanuts! Braised Beef Noodle soup was sooooo good. They had the seasoned raw beef on a cart on the way to the back kitchen and as they passed my table the smell of the braised beef was so unbelievable we had to order it too! One of our favourite hand pulled noodles in dt locations. This restaurant is located at a convenient location and is easy to get to. Their portion sizes were massive. I ordered a large and I had left over to take home for lunch the next day. The service was fast here and servers are friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and nicely decorated. We can't say enough good things about their noodles. It's super silly and chewy, which is a hard to get texture. You can definitely enjoy the difference that hand pulled noodles and you can also select the type of noodles you'd like for each dish (e.g., flat, thin flat, round, etc). I really enjoyed the cold noodles in sesame sauce - this dish was flavourful and was topped by a lot of veggies which added a nice crunch. Really liked the thin flat noodles with this one. The braised beef noodle soup was also tasty and comforting and would suggest round noodles. I recommend you try the teas as well if you can fit any liquid in. A number of Lanzhou noodle shops have popped up in Toronto recently. I was hyped about trying this new Mogouyan restaurant offering the authentic hand-pulled noodles. It's a spacious addition to the many diverse group meal options along the downtown stretch of Dundas St near Eaton Centre. As a first experience, I ordered the classic Beef Noodles. It had all elements of a traditional Lanzhou noodle bowl: clear broth, white radish, red chilli oil, green parsley and yellow hand-pulled noodles. Unfortunately this rushed batch of hand-pulled noodles for our group did not have the bouncy texture; it was too firm to pull or soak soup flavour. I did have better noodles on a subsequent visit. Thin braised beef slices were well-seasoned adding to the tasty A-grade beef broth. We ordered their beef & lamb skewers to pair with the noodles. While salty, these were grilled with a crispy layer surrounding the tender meat, and cumin spices influenced by the spice trade along the Silk Road. Both classic & braised beef noodles also came in 1-3 spice levels, but all were frankly quite mild with aromatic chilli oil. It was a hearty meal. Mogouyan is named after a locale in Lanzhou city. The restaurant has operated there since the 1970s prior to recently expanding to Toronto and soon to Alberta. Food Ranger flew to Lanzhou to their shop when he went searching for Level 9999 noodles! Their chef was trained there in Lanzhou. This location will be their flag ship location in Canada. It is fully licensed with a full bar. If you have to wait to be seated, there are 4 "tree stumps" at the front to sit on! They have free WiFi. The restaurant isn't wheelchair accessible because there are 2 steps at the entrance. This review is about passion fruit tea. It's also about how great the service was last night and that this place was open until 2 am! Last night, I attended a concert at Massey Hall. Jann Arden did not have an opening act. The show started at 8 pm and we were done by 10:30 pm. After the show, I needed a drink. No, not the alcoholic type. I was thirsty and needed something to quench my thirst. I hadn't had anything to drink since I had had dinner. There was a Circle K on Yonge Street towards Queen Street East. I wasn't feeling it. I was parked at the lot under City Hall and thought about places there. I remembered that there is a Chatime near Mogouyuan. However, I had a craving for the latter's passion fruit tea. I had had one before the concert. I was now going back for a second one! I walked in and a nice woman said hi. I asked if I could get a passion fruit tea to go. She nodded. She went ahead and made one. It was ready for me. It's one size only, which is huge! It was perfect for me as I was heading home and I like big drinks that are yummy. I paid with a credit card. This place has a portable machine. I tipped and tapped. Done! I thanked this woman for preparing my tea so quickly. I was briefly parked in front of the store and it was 11 pm. I got into my car and made a u-turn to point myself in the right direction to head home. What I love about the passion fruit tea is that it's fragrant, has bits of passion fruit, and has a hint of sweetness. It's so good that it's addictive! Sadly, I don't have a photo of my drink. I drank it too fast that it was gone! I have had the braised beef hand-pulled noodles here and they were excellent. I'll need to return and get the dandan noodles. My friend highly recommends getting some. I wish that this place was closer to home. It is worth the drive downtown just for the fruit tea alone. Do get the hand-pulled noodles. They are chewy and delicious. The late hours are perfect for getting something to eat after a concert. I should have done that, but getting a drink was my first priority. The female staffer was so nice. It is the case with all staff. They greet you immediately. She was so happy that I said that I love their passion fruit tea. This place was really good. We had a noodle bowl (and a large bowl is easily enough for two and a lot cheaper). The broth was delicious. The noodles were good. The meat was good. What's also nice about this place as you just take the little gondola that leads from the center of town to the parking lot and it's right at the end. And you can even ski down to within about 20 feet of the restaurant. I'm gonna take the gondola back up. Really a great place for lunch. read more

Anyway, my friend and I came and ordered a beef braised noodle with the flat slightly thick noodle, plus a cold sesame noodle with the medium thin round type. Maybe it was because we opted to eat the cold noodles first (the waiter gave us two small sharing bowls, and we wanted to avoid having a bowl full of soup), but the hot noodles were very gummy. Noodle quality and texture aside, the soup itself wasn't particularly flavourful. The cold sesame noodles, on the other hand, were delicious! The noodles were springy and had a wonderful bite. There was also a very generous portion of sesame paste. Mmm... I would love to try the Dan Dan noodles too. Overall, was a decent meal. Throughout the last few years, I've always noticed Mogouyan Noodles during my walks along Dundas Ave. I've always had the itch to enter inside the place, but I never have until a few days ago! With over 40 years of history from Lanzhou, Mogouyan Hand-Pulled Noodles brings flavour and taste for all their noodle dishes! Whether it's stir fried or in a broth, all their noodle shapes are always cooked al dente! There were a lot of options to choose from to sample their noodles, but I had to sample their Braised Beef Noodles. The regular shaped noodles were the perfect shape to pair with the broth as the al dente cooked noodles paired nicely with their broth. The beef brisket is tender where you can break each piece with a snap of chopsticks. I do recommend the medium to high level of spice for this bowl of noodle soup! My friends and I decided to venture away from our usual soup noodles spot on dundas (GB noodles) and discovered this place. Backstory: we were recovering from a night out at a friend's wedding at casa loma and needed some good ol' hangover soak up. The service here is pretty good. Our orders were taken promptly and the server kept asking us individually if the food was to our liking. It felt as though they were experimenting w/ salt levels and gauging the customer base which was cool. My friend really liked the lamb skewers and said he preferred them over the ones at chat bar (strong words imo and slightly disagree). The noodle soup itself was good. I think I'd still give the slight edge to GB noods in terms of flavour. There's just an extra oomph to the soup base over at GB. The shredded pepper chicken was wayyy too salty though. I think they may have added a lil too much MSG (im ok w/ msg to help bring out flavour but these guys may have overdone it a lil). If I came back I would prolly order some other side dishes. I wish the braised beef noodles came with more brisket (I thought they were a lil stingy on the portion of meat tbh) but overall, it was a very big, hearty bowl of noodles. Came across this place while in yonge-dundas square so we decided to give it a try. We got the chicken fillet and the flat noodles with minced beef sauce. The noodles were very bouncy, and I love the texture. The sauce was also flavorful, and the mincemeat was a good protein to have with the noodles. However, there wasn't enough sauce I just wish there was a bit more. As for the chicken fillet, this was pounded out very thin, but it was fried well and I like the sauce that it came with. As for the service we came in the mid afternoon time frame so we didn't have to wait at all. Our waitress was very nice and we got our food pretty quickly. I have been to 3 different locations, each time trying a different dish. Every time I love it even more! Today I got the tomato dry noodle with beef and added (a lot) of house chili oil. We got the Braised Beef Noodles with one spice, and as someone who can eat some spicy dishes, level 2 wouldn't hurt - however still flavourful! There were many chunks by braised beef, and not just skin. The noodles were very bouncy, and you can definitely definitely taste the difference between fresh noodles VS frozen. You could also choose the noodle style to go with your bowl. We opted for flat, but perhaps will try the thin flat next time as it was on the thicker side, and I got full really fast from it. Came here for business, was 80 degrees outside, and I still loved this soup so much. I got the brisket and the only downside was that most of the meat was really fat. I get that brisket is fatty but maybe take a bit off before serving it. Otherwise the taste of the broth was incredible and the mix of ingredients sublime. I got the braised beef noodle after having a great memory of it at a yelp event, when the restaurant was just opening. Today though, even though the beef was tender, the noodles were a congealed mess and I couldn't even attempt to eat them. I just ate the beef and drank the broth. I don't think I will come again. Very disappointing. The waiter noticed that I didn't eat it and offered me something else instead, which I appreciated. I explained how different it was from the first time I tried it.
