While I was waiting for one seller who didn't turn up, I found a car at Driveline Motors on craigslist. It was $1,000 over my budget and 3 years newer than I planned to buy, a 2008. Tony Tote, jr, the 3rd generation owner answered the phone. He was straight with me about the car. He let me drive and look without overselling me. I had him look up the KBB private party sale price and he sold me the car for a bit under. But I got service I would not get in a private party sale. The car was meticulously clean although they did use air freshener in it which I hate. Once I decided, they did all of the paperwork and put my plates on the car while I went to the bank to get the money. I suppose there are some people who would pay a lot more to go to a big dealership with professional salesmen. We bought a new honda recently from a showroom that delivered free cappuccino and espresso. But I bought a great 7 year old car from folks who are well organized, clean, and clearly know that they need to deliver a good value to survive as an independent. And clearly, they do. I really like a small independent who's made their way for 3 generations by offering good service. There's no fancy coffee here, but solid people and a good deal.

I get a flat and then tell me the car has a special wheel lock that comes with the car...sometimes? Wft? I have a flat right now and they want to order a key to unlock the tire..because they never told, asked , nor inquired as to my need for such a thing. The worst ever. They make you fill out surveys and promise all sorts of things only to turn around after you've give them a glowing review to give you all the red tape and how you're not getting anything. Charlatans.

After the first year, I got the car inspected and I asked them if the rear brakes were good because they don't look or feel good in the manager the office and showed me on a computer that they changed the brake pads all the way around and rotors and tires when I purchased a vehicle. Vehicle had 32,000 miles on it when I bought it has 52,000 on it and they say my rear brakes are totally shot pads and rotors . problem I have is your rear brake should never go before your front brakes and when I took it to get it inspected this year another shop they clearly stated that these are the original rear brakes and rotors on it. I called dealership. To return my calls and when I did talk to someone originally, they said there's no way they did not do the job if it says they did it they did it. This is a very dishonest dealership. I would never recommend it to anybody customer service is not something they care about all they care about is getting your money. It's been a week in three days and still no one will return my calls.

I had previously bought my vehicle to another Toyota dealership, and they told me that they weren't able to fix the problem. When I pulled into Lia Toyota of Colonie, I was greeted by the service associate Nick. He assured me they would thoroughly troubleshoot the problem. In short order they had diagnosed the problem and assured me they could fix it. They showed me exactly what the problem was, and what caused it. (The problem was caused by another company installing a trailer hitch. They even put that in writing so I could try and recoup some of my repair bill from that other company.) They had to order parts, which wouldn't be there until the next day, but the timetable they gave me for repairs was right on schedule as they promised. They got me into a rental car and they fixed the vehicle in the time frame they promised for the price they quoted. It was a very expensive repair, but they offered financing with monthly payments so that worked out okay. The waiting area was very comfortable and they had complimentary coffee and donuts. Everybody was kind and polite from start to finish. I highly recommend the service department at Lia Toyota of Colonie!

I first visited this dealership back in 2006. I had a new Toyota, put 5000 miles on it, and came to…read moredo the 5,000 service indicated in the manual. It was an oil change and a tire rotation. I was told that due to the upstate New York location the car is were considered and hazard service and there was more work that had to be done as part of the 5000 mi service. I did not see any value in the additives and additional work that they were proposing and ask them to just do the 5,000 mi service per the manual. This led to a few back and forth exchanges were they informed me that they would place a letter in my permanent file stating that I refused dealer recommended services. I asked them what ramifications such a letter had and they couldn't think of a single one. Needless to say, I did not go back there. 19 years later, I drove my mom's car and there was vibration when I pressed on the brake pedal. Does generally means that the surface of the rotors is rough. I let her know that and she took it to Lia Toyota for a break inspection. The dealership provided the tread depth measurements and the pad thicknesses and said that both the tires and the brakes were good. They then wanted $80 to take the car for a spin to help identify the issue. Thinking that this was strange I took the car to a private shop and asked them to pop the wheels off. There was visible corrosion of the rear rotors as soon as I took the wheels off. Replacing the rotors solved the problem. I already didn't trust this dealership but apparently I failed to underestimate them.
