Let's start with the service. We decided to sit on the patio since it was a nice evening. The restaurant wasn't packed as it was a weekday and not many people were on the patio. We had to continually ask our server for things like additional drinks she had apparently forgotten, napkins, water, etc. She was in such a hurry to leave I felt i had to quickly list all the things we had been waiting for. It was disappointing. The food was equally disappointing if not worse. I ordered a carne asada fajita. It came out luke warm, and they served the whole UNCUT steak. I had to cut everything from the grilled pepper, the steak, the leeks, everything! If you spend time making a steak, cut it, give some presentation...also, if you don't cut it for your customers, you run the risk of them not cutting against the grain making the steak chewy...but the steak was already very chewy and wasn't even marinaded like you'd expect from carne asada. I took 2 bites and gave up lol if i wanted to put in that much work for sub par food, I'd cook at home and it'd taste better. The first time we ordered carry out the food was good but not on time and not hot and they didn't put the tortillas for the BBQ carnitas in but we were willing to give it a second chance. For the second they made 3 small cheese enchiladas, We again ordered the BBQ carnitas but there was no BBQ sauce on the pork and the 3rd entree ordered was a Mojave Combo that was supposed to have a chicken enchilada, but was ground beef asked for pico de gallo instead of gaucamole, got nothing. It would not have been so bad except I had the order taker repeat everything back to me which she did but they still screwed up. It definitely was not worth the $63.00 paid. The manager, however, could use some training. _______ Omg. I got delivery today, and I bit HARD into a piece of STONE when eating my food. My gum bled and I very nearly broke a tooth. When we reported it, they asked us to drive the stone back up to the restaurant (a photo wasn't good enough), and subsequently told us that it came from either the meat or beans and it HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. Why on earth would you keep the same supplier after something like this happened? I will never eat there again, and if you do - please don't order anything with ground beef or beans. The food was good and the service could have been better. I've passed by this spot a lot going home. So my friend and I decided to stop in because it was voted number on on Detroits food list. The food is decent American Mexican food. I wouldn't vote number 1 but it isn't bad either. Make sure you ask for the price of sauces because they are not free and I wish that was communicated. The manager there was a big help in explaining and adjusting our bill because I could spend 4 on something better than mild red sauce. Other than that the drinks were good and the food was decent. We Tried Mojave for the first time last week and enjoyed our meal despite a couple bumps. It was a very slow night and the service was prompt. I liked the Cadillac margarita even though it came without salt. I guess the bartender is used to people asking for salt as opposed to saying when they don't want salt. to me, that's a little backwards but not a big deal and they did offer to remake it if i wanted. They chips they brought were warm and crispy, and the house made salsa was really good although there were some pretty big chunks of tomato. The Mojave combo comes with a taco , chimichanga and enchilada, all pretty good but the chimichanga lacked that nice crunch you kind of expect. The Enchiladas with the roja sauce were tasty with the exception that i ordered ground beef , chicken and Cheese only to get shredded beef instead of the ground beef. not tragic, but I can say that I was not a big fan of the shredded beef, it was a little tough. personally, I would have liked more cheese too. I really liked the cilantro lime rice and refried beans though. in all it was a decent meal and we will likely give them another try some time. read more

It's been a minute since I'd been here so when friends suggested we come on a hot summer night I was in. I've been several times over the past years and it's been an up & down ride, sometimes good, sometimes bad but never great. The last visit was the same - pretty good with room for improvement. It's nice that you can sit outside on their back patio, who doesn't love that? Except the seating is at high top tables and the bench seating is SUPER uncomfortable, leaving your feet dangling like a little kid. Chairs were ok, not real comfy either. Service was good, especially since there was 8 of us, our waitress did well. Food was passable Mexican - nothing to rave about, but again, nice on a summer evening. Prices are a bit high - but what isn't these days? I'll probably go back in the summer and sit outside but avoid in the winter. read more

Let me start off by saying the atmosphere is great. Love the patio and the drinks are a good size for the price. When it came to the food and service, it left something to be desired. Although our server was very friendly, she told us our food would be out shortly after ordering 15 minutes earlier. It took a little over 30 minutes for our food to come to the table and by the time it did our food was cold. When I asked the server if the meat on the dish should be cold, she replied, "No, what do you want me to do about it." I asked her if she could at the very least bring out meat that was cooked/warm. My friend asked her to do the same for her rice. I'm not sure if the server forgot about our food or if there was an issue in the kitchen, but your meals definitely left something to be desired. By the time my food came back out, I had waited 45 minutes...I can't say I'll be back for food, but maybe for a happy hour. read more

Nice location with good parking, outdoor patio and bar. Looks like a great date night place. Food was about average but our experience there went from "pretty good" to "maybe not" pretty quickly. Allow me to explain.. We were asked if we wanted Chips and Salsa, "of course". When we received them I asked for salt to add to the chips (there are no salt shakers on any table and I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. Hmmm). We were asked "would you like guac and queso"? "Sure". Two things here - 1) The queso is inedible. Seriously. and 2) They are $6.50 EACH. Something we didn't realize until the check arrived. So I spent an additional $13.00 for a couple of chips worth of guacamole. Maybe they should've mentioned that "they are $6.50 each" before you order it. Muy Bien!!! My first experience with Mojave, a luncheon with a small group of former colleagues, blew away my expectations in every way. This popular Mexican Cantina, located on the North side of 14 Mile Road in downtown Clawson, delivered a premium Mexican experience from the moment I walked through the door. Our server Crystal made our luncheon an enjoyable experience throughout our visit with friendly, courteous and attentive service. Our table of 5 also enjoyed Mojave's relaxed and festive atmosphere and the convenient parking directly behind the restaurant. As our group arrived, Crystal offered us some complimentary chips and salsa. Boom!!! This was my first indication that Mojave's food was going to be something special. The salsa, thick and rich with slow-roasted red peppers delivered moderate heat...a nice foreshadowing of things to come. The five members of our group each ordered something different which provided a great opportunity to see a nice cross section of Mojave's extensive menu. Portions here are very generous which makes up for the prices that run a bit higher than other Mexican eateries morning in the area. I ordered the Street Tacos, one w/ chicken, one w/ pulled pork. Served on semi-crisp corn tortillas and complimented with rice and beans, this plate was over the moon.
