This place works! It is close to home, decent prices, they provide good service and the food hits the spot. It's probably a 3.5 but I'm going to round up! The service almost always is pretty solid. My wife and I decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some food from south of the border. We have wanted to try this place for awhile as it is always busy whenever we drive by it. The whole experience did not start off well. Since the restaurant was only doing curbside pickup we called to place our order. The hostess stated that they were super busy so another employee would call back to take our order. After 20 minutes my wife called back and they said they had called(didn't happen). The hostess stated that someone would call back this time. Someone did. They stated 20-25 minutes which turned into about 60 minutes. Before you think this is a bad review, the staff was super apologetic and actually included some margaritas on the house because of the trouble. It was Cinco de Mayo and they converted to 100% curbside so we figured we should cut them a break. The food was great! Any teetering feeling we had going into eating disappeared pretty quickly. We got the trio sampler, tex-mex tacos and the chicken/steak fajitas. Great portions! I would recommend all of them! My wife is super picky with her queso and Mojave passed the test! The seasoning that they use for the shredded chicken and ground beef is stellar! Like I said this experience didn't start great but kudos to the staff to make it better and really make us feel special on a great holiday with great food and margaritas! We ordered through Door Dash.3 burrito dinners . The burritos I ordered where all supposed to be steak with rice and beans. My husband was the one who noticed the issue. The meals not only didn't have the proper side items they had NO MEAT! we recived three dinners with all rice for the side and then in the burritos nothing but rice . I honestly thought it was a bad joke. So we where charged $17 a dinner x 3 and given about 3lbs of over cooked rice. What a horrible experience. Not sure why I saw so many mediocre reviews- must be their expectations were too high. My brother & I had dinner last night & enjoyed the entire experience. It was busy so a bit of a wait is to be expected but nothing out of the ordinary. I had the street tacos which had an outside crust of cooked cheese - so yummy. My brother enjoyed the fish tacos and he too was very happy with the flavor. Our waitress Lucy went out her way to look up where I could find a Clawson sweatshirt since I am visiting from California. Just got carry out last night from Mojave, everything was perfect. We ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and the shrimp fajitas as we are trying to go low carb. My wife and I have been here several times now and the food and service have consistently been good, even on really busy nights (one of them was even Halloween). Their drink menu is decent, they have a pretty broad selection of tequila and margaritas if that's your thing, and they even serve margaritas by the pitcher - we ordered one when we had friends out to dinner. I really like their burrito selection - the potato burrito has been great both times I've gotten it - and they're even large enough to take half home for another meal (it made for a good work lunch). They also have several vegetarian options that my wife has had - granted it's not a great stretch to do without meat at a Mexican place. read more

The food was fine. Service was quirky. I ordered a beer with my meal and they were apparently out of my selection. Instead of asking what I wanted as a second option, the server brought me a beer I would never have ordered with the message that the bartender said I would like it. No, thank you. Then, after the server set our dessert on the table at the end of the meal, she said she hoped it was okay that they didn't have the chocolate covering advertised for the dessert. No, thank you. This was one of our favorite places to have dinner. It's been a while since we've been... now we will not return. Our waitress wasn't friendly. Our drinks, chips and salsa came after sitting there for 15 minutes. When we ordered, it took 45 minutes to get our food. The food was burned, our waitress asked "what we wanted her to do with it?" The manager didn't come to the table, he was nowhere to be found. To top it all off the the bathroom was disgusting, empty toilet paper rolls, over flowing trash and no soap. We've been here a number of times and I never remember getting an up charge for hot salsa, very disappointing it just goes with every other restaurant/business up charging for everything. My co-workers took me here for lunch to celebrate my pending nuptials. The atmosphere was nice and friendly. One co-worker wanted a TV changed due to it being March Madness and the manager had no problem doing so. The restaurant let my co-workers decorate the tables with balloons and other goodies. However the 2 sides i received were also the same rice and beans.... so i basically was expected to eat a ton of rice and beans. No pico, no avacado slices... No corn or maybe other veggies... The tables outside were pretty dirty. Kinda sticky. The chips and salsa were great.. Very tasty. I also ordered 2 margaritas while eating. First one was the jalapeno one. Tasted great. Then i ordered the Caddilac, to which i was told was very strong because i didnt feel the first one had enough alcohol. It also was very weak. Usually after 2 margaritas, one feels a little warm and fuzzy... Ya know? Yep.. Nope... Nothing. For the price... I expected more. Probably won't go back. We arrived mid-afternoon today (Sunday afternoon). The restaurant was about half full. Another couple arrived just after us. As we stood waiting, 3-4 different employees walked right past us, a couple of them more than once. Two of them mumbled something unintelligible in passing, but none of them greeted us or indicated that they would be right with us, nor did they return or acknowledge us as they passed by subsequently. The other couple left after close to 5 minutes, and shortly thereafter we decided to leave, as well. There was also a Door Dash person who arrived shortly after us and was still waiting for her order when walked out. They have good margaritas! They had a winter cranberry special margarita which was really good! Upgraded to the bacon guacamole- and it was very tasty. The bacon was crispy and a good addition- only downside was the bowl was kind of small but deep so kinda hard to get it all scooped out. Chips and salsa were also really good. Service was prompt while while we were there. Got fajitas- they have big portions! Could have split between 2 people. Comes with some beans, rice, and tortillas. Nice little mainstream Mexican restaurant in Clawson to visit if you are in the area. I went to visit for a birthday dinner and the place was pretty packed on a Friday night. They have a pretty tiny parking lot on the side which is easy to miss as well. Most of the tables were taken away as to adhere to social distancing rules but tables were still pretty close together because of how small the establishment is. They have a small area for outdoor dining near the front but it was cold so we didn't have a choice. All the staff wore masks at all times during our stay and we didn't wait too long for our food. The drink menu is the best part, we got strawberry margaritas and the mojave sampler dish to share which were delicious. And for dessert, we got the fried dulce de leche ice cream to share which was the best way to end the night! read more

Don't sleep on this local joint! I got the "jumbo size" Michigan margarita (cherry) and it was soooo good! My boyfriend and I split the molcajete and chimichangas. The Molcajete didn't come in an actual molcajete bowl which in my opinion is half of the fun... however the food was delicious and generous portions (plenty of leftovers!) and service was great for a Friday night. I read the yelp reviews here AFTER placing our pick-up order over the phone; so, I had some valid reservations about what our experience would be like. However, with the exception of the kitchen adding cheese to a salad that I asked cheese NOT be added to, our order of five entrees was correctly made, very fresh and delicious! (Any restaurant that serves fresh avocados AND knows how to grill / cook tofu is a-okay in MY book!) When the cheese mishap was brought to their attention (yes, I told my husband to NOT leave the restaurant with our food order until AFTER he had opened each entree to ensure it was correct), they did re-do the salad right then. We would certainly place another pick-up order from this restaurant again; and, we're hopeful that our dining experience would be the same or better when we decide to dine in. Servers past us several times to bring food and beverages to a table not 5 feet away from us with no acknowledgment. A sever cleaned off a table right next to us. No acknowledgment.We decided to leave when the table that had just been seated received water and their order was taken. We shouldn't have to flag anyone. Yes, we were dining while black. First let me say there were 5 of us. Tania and a trainee bring one basket of chips. It was busy but the service was slow the food took a long time and not either waitress came to tell us that they were running behind nor fill our chips. My son's fiance' got chicken enchiladas and they were over cooked and dry, then I asked if they did anything special today since it was Veteran's Day, and my son is a Marine veteran, no discounted meal just 4 churro's and a scoop of ice cream for "5" people. My mojito was just perfect my boyfriend had the enchiladas and said nothing but good things, my nachos were great, only recommendation is that I had a lot moe protein on my plate that chips so the bottom ended up getting soggy, worked out because they obviously give you complimentary chips and salsa. Went to Mojavie with reservations, with a group for lunch, on a limited time schedule. The table wasn't ready, we had to wait. Service was mediocre, food wasn't much better. The place had an awful echo was very loud for not a lot of people in there. The food came out of the kitchen piecemeal, was kinda dry, but being a Mexican place little or no sauce. Had to wait for someone to ask if there was anything else, we requested boxes. They couldn't figure out we were ready to leave, after asking for boxes and some of our party had already left due to time. We had to flag someone for our bill, then flag down somebody to take the payment. So in the meantime, Im watching a table being cleaned off where some small kids and moms were sitting. No bus tub or anything like that, carrying off dirty dishes a few at a time, so Ok. Then I saw the table wiiped with a used napkin the patrons had used. Brushed up the food off the table, collected it in another napkin. Left streaks on the table from the food, swept up the floor, and immediately re sat the table. A clean rag wipe down on the table might have been nice. Paper placemats on the tables would be a nice touch, and image the place up a bit. I live blocks away, but this visit reminded why we don't frequent the place. read more

Service is awful and the food is not as fresh, or even really that good. Last night our server was non-existent, the food was cold and tasted like over priced Taco Bell.
