We have been here since my daughter was in 4th grade and she is currently in 8th grade and has her retainers. Needless to say, my daughter required alot of work. From needing expanders, to her expanders falling off when one of her teeth decided to fall off at 10pm and Dr. Akhavan came in to the office and fixed her expanders for her. We have paid off her braces about a year early and she still gets booked for her check ups as well as check ups after her braces were off. Phenomenal Experience. Timely service, pleasant, super-friendly staff & Dr. Office is professional and nicely done - geared friendly to both kids and adults. The doctor was super honest & told us our daughter did not need phase 1 braces & recommended waiting till she was a bit older for normal, phase 2 braces - also gave us some options if we did want to cosmetically straighten some teeth now, but not necessary. As much as i want to give a higher review i can't. I am very disappointed that after paying my entire treatment and on top 400 dollars for retainers my teeth are still not straight as they should be. I was told i would have guarantee on the job. I went several times for retainer adjustments and i have complained that the type of retainer i have squishes and irritates my gums and also causes lines on my front teeth from the force to push my teeth back. Im even afraid they might crack. I requested to change to another type of retainer. Dr. Akhavan said she would change it to another type, to make an appointment. When i called to make the appointment they wanted to charge me again the $400 retainer fee. Was told they would talk to the Dr. in regards to the matter & I never got a call back. Im not willing to pay again that fee when my teeth & gums have been damaged with this type of retainer which i didn't like from the beginning. read more

My first visit for wire change, the dental assistant went from the computer to doors, drawers, etc to opening and placing tools on my tray..all with bare hands...never washed, never put on gloves..so when the ortho entered I told her, she apologized and properly brought out new tools...then during covid one of the assistants came out of the bathroom and grabbed gloves from his pocket to put on before he started working on me..I asked him to change them and then when we was removing my wires he had his mask under his nose the entire time where I could see dried boogers hanging out if his nose as he leaned right over my open mouth..and he was a heavy nose breather...it was gross...and again this was at the height if the pandemic and i had not yet been vaccinated...another time during covid they had a kid in the room in the chair next to me..mask off chatting away while I also had no mask on and my mouth was wide open having work done...I had told them many times that I was high risk and it is a very small room with 5 open chairs.. I always felt rushed in and out..like on an assembly line..my teeth are definitely straighter than they were but my braces were rushed..and teeth have moved back quite a bit..I wore my retainer religiously but it was poorly fitted because it started hurting and feeling very tight when I put it in every night ..it actually cracked because it was not fitted well.. and I had gone back for adjustments too..I feel that I got my braces off too soon and because of covid did not have them tended to as often as they should have...I feel I paid full price for subpar service! I now have to see another ortho to have my teeth straightened all over again! read more

I literally just got my braces off an hour ago so I felt I needed to write this review. This was my second set of braces so it was important to me for this experience to be quick and painless. I had an outstanding experience with Dr. Akhavan and her assistants. Every appointment I was seen very quickly and got out within 10-30 minutes depending on the procedure. So far everything and everyone seems very professional. I would give five stars in those terms--but I am subtracting one star because the waiting room has the most uncomfortable seats I have ever experienced. I can't sit in them more than 10 minutes. They look like they are right angles but sitting in them it feels like they are actually less than 90 degrees. I am sure this sounds petty--but after being on my feet all day I just want to relax while I wait at my son's ortho appt and I just can't. I strongly suggest if you are going to be waiting for little 'uns that you come in and sit on these seats for ten minutes... is it just the way I am built?? read more

Love Dr.Akhavan and her staff. Just got my braces off today and am extremely happy with my experience. This was my second time around having braces (wear your retainers people!) and the process went quick and as smooth as can be. If I had any concerns, she was quick to address them and made me feel comfortable with whatever treatment direction we were going. Each case is different obviously, but I only had my bottom braces for 10 months and the top for 4. Had a permanent retainer bonded this time for my bottom teeth and a clear one for the top. As an adult, I wasn't looking forward to the prospects of another round of braces after being done with them over 20 years ago. Now that my time to (once again) celebrate with the "coming off party", I have to say that, thanks in large part to Dr. Akhavan and the rest of her staff, it has not been such a bad experience after all. Dr. Akhavan is very professional and friendly and always takes the time to explain the procedures, options and addresses all my questions and concerns. Having heard so many horror stories of chain orthodontists that rotate their patients through their turnstiles, it was a relief to find that she and her staff always took plenty of time with me during appointments. Came here to get my braces when I was younger don't really remember my experience but I ended up coming back several years later to get them again because I had lost my retainer and my teeth had shifted significantly. I went to this place as my first orthodontic consultation. She wanted to extract my 2 upper bicuspids and acted like it was perfectly fine and normal. Nothing to worry about. She did not tell me that your face changes for worse when you extract teeth, except for certain circumstances like protruding mouths. The second orthodontist I went to said that removing the bicuspids would be the last option and would highly not recommend that method of treatment . She also told me that it would change the way your face looks. I give 1 star because Mojdah Akhavan wanted to take the worst option as a first option, and did not inform me of the life changing facial changes that would occur. As well as giving answers to my questions that do not line up with what she posts on the internet. read more

I wouldn't recommend treatment with her practice to any of my friends or family. The bottom line: they use rubber gloves twice on the same patient. Yuck! The assistant puts the gloves one, fishes around your mouth, then takes the gloves off inside out and when the doctor comes around, she puts them on and fishes around your mouth. Think that's not so bad? Think about this for a moment: the assistant puts on the gloves. Then her hands get sweaty inside the gloves. She's excreting oils from her fingers and hands while she's wearing those gloves. Then she takes those gloves off inside out. The doctor comes along and puts those same gloves one. First of all, your saliva ends up all over her hands since those gloves were turned inside out. Then the oils that were excreted from the assistant's hands were then transferred to your mouth because those gloves were TURNED INSODE OUT! Why go cheap on the gloves when hygiene should be paramount? read more

The dr. and staff are pretty friendly, but keep in mind that this office ONLY offers two types of braces: metal or ceramic, both of which require rubber bands. There is no new technology or medical upgrades going on here. read more

Brought my daughter here for a consultation. Immediately I was greeted and welcomed. I sat in the waiting area for a brief short minutes then called back which WOW I was impressed..many places have a long period of wait. They took digital photos before Dr. Akhavan came in. Upon the Dr. examining my daughter she thoroughly went over the treatment needed and showed me both visual and went over the photos which by the way where mine to keep :)) I enjoyed the atmosphere here everyone was friendly, their was alot of interaction amongts the staff & patients felt very family oriented so of course got my daughter started with braces! The most ORGANIZED EFFICIENT STAFF makes it a quick process. I am adult with braces and dentist offices are a place I have anxiety over. Not the case here. Dr Akhavan was out of town when I had broken my spacer and she had one of her staff meet me in the office to fix me up at 11:00 at night. I checked out a few places to get my braces and I'm so happy that I chose this one. The thing that has stuck with me is how amazing they were with my baby boy. I couldn't get a sitter so they told me I could bring my two month old in. As soon as he started to get fussy the girls would pick him up and comfort him. He absolutely loved them and I was so grateful that they were there for him. Besides that their work has been amazing so far. I expected there to be a lot of pain with my braces but there hasn't, thank goodness. I am writing this review for a friend. My friend just started to get a ceramic braces at Dr.Mojdah Akhavan office for almost 4 months. She said that the first visit was great, since Dr. Akhavan explained everything really clearly and that was why my friend decided to get her braces done here. However, for every adjustment appointment after, Dr. Mojdah Akhavan does not seem to spend that much time with my friend and she hands everything over to her staffs to change the the elastic ties and bands. Due to the large numbers of patient she has, she only gives about 2-3 minutes per patient per appointment, so she does not allow my friend to explain her problems/issues that she has encountered with her current braces. Also, Dr. Akhavan did not have the opportunity to 'carefully' evaluate the movement of the teeth and the progress made. Sometimes Dr. Akhavan makes my friend wondering why does Dr. Akhavan has to be there, since her staffs did 90% of the job. My friend highly suggests that the office should focus on 'Quality' instead of 'Quantity' by limiting the amount of patients per appointment especially near closing time. She would love to communicate with the doctor more, since most of the other orthodontists spent about 15-20 minutes per patient to explain the progress and necessary steps to help improve the final outcome of the treatment plan. read more
