This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the twin cities! It is all because of the ambience. Lots of seating including indoor and outdoor--an adorable porch, and in summer they often leave the door open for a breeze which I love! Their coffee is good and they have decaf too. Good God, I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! I've been here so many times and it's often a coffee house I look forward to bringing my more art loving, good coffee drinking friends. I love this place. For multiple reasons! I honestly have not had a single bad coffee concoction here yet (well, except the one time the barista accidentally grabbed the raspberry syrup instead of lavender for my latte but she quickly remade it. I LOVE raspberries but there is just something repulsive to my tastebuds about raspberry flavors in coffee for me). The walls are filled with local artist pottery pieces (and you can even purchase them!) and art. They have a low key, relaxing, hodge podgey artsy feel inside with all their mismatched tables and sodden floors. Maybe it's the crunchy granola modern hippie side of me that this place appeals to me. It's relaxing as all get out for me to sit and sip my coffee in. They also have a decent outdoor patio surrounded by vining plants and usually 2-3 dog dishes out there of you decide to bring your pooch. I love dog friendly establishments. It just shows they ya e a bigger heart for all walks of life to me. I never seem to actually get any amount of work done there so I can't vouch for WiFi but I my eye often catches a few people plugging away on their laptops when I go. Me? Gack- I'm there to unwind and just BE when I go. That and snap a handful of photos on the patio because the lighting and atmosphere is just perfect. read more

This is one of my fave MPLS cafes, echo-ing most other reviewers who seemingly have good taste. At Mojo Coffee Gallery you will find: great food and drinks, excellent service, live art installations, a music venue, and art gallery. Plus there's free wifi and a variety of seating inside and on their patio, so no need to go home like, ever. I can't vouch that all of their food/bev options are a hit, but I just enjoyed a breakfast of Ecuadorian Humitas + scrambled eggs + fresh fruit = $6.50. The Humita was sweet from the corn with some savory cheese in it. And the scrambled eggs were perfectly seasoned and not overcooked, which I wildly appreciate. One of the employees was so pleased I liked it so much, which was pretty adorable. Their food menu is robust for a little cafe, features seasonal options, is affordable, and they also have a case of prepared foods to go. Their caffeinated options are solid, and I also appreciate their variety of flavor shots, and that they don't skimp on them (cold brew + lavender ftw!). I've been here to work alone, conduct meetings, binge some breakfast, munch some lunch, observe art being created live, and I just need to come for a local show! read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in the Minneapolis! It is cozy and spacious. Comfy chairs and quiet relaxing music. They have local artwork on display, fast internet, good food. I just love this place. Great patio seating - you can bring your dog. I get a lot of writing done here. Food: they always have grab and go options as well as their chili served all day. Living in NE this is our go to coffee shop. I hesitate to write this review since it can already be hard to find a seat at times. I like my coffee black for the most part, but my girlfriend really likes their Mocha and a number of other things she's tried. I haven't tried any of the food, but everything I have seen others eating looks delicious. The primary reason I frequent Mojo is for a great atmosphere to work from. They have a art filled relaxing atmosphere that is quiet enough to get work done alone, but is also great for meetings. I haven't been, but they also have live music on the weekends. read more

Stumbled upon this gem of a place when I was in Northeast Art district for the yearly "Art-A-Whirl" and visiting artist studios...WOW...what a gem of a coffee shop! Very unique and beautiful coffee shop ...wonderful atmosphere! It has a very open feel with very high ceilings and lots of lights from the many windows. GOOD coffee too...I've just eaten lunch so I didn't have any room in my stomach to eat anything...but their bakery items and foods look delish! Can't wait to come back! read more

Mojo has become my coffeehouse of choice, in spite of being twice as far away from my house as the closest competition. Sadly, the wonderful high-density berry muffins are no more, but there are several acceptable pastry choices, albeit plastic-wrapped (the bane of all pastry). They have a great apple pie and chocolate cake, too. They have an actual cook lurking in back, and when I have ordered the cooked food, it is good. My lattes are always great. The brewed coffee is a bit dark for my taste, but everyone has their own ideas on that. The best feature is still the wonderful space, though. In fact, that's the only drawback--on a Saturday or Sunday it can be crowded enough to be hard to find a place to sit. Oh yeah, they have a patio too. This place is wonderful. In a couple of short weeks, it's become my go-to in Minneapolis. The atmosphere is very Portland - it's located in the art district and I believe it houses several art studios. It's crammed full of interesting local art. There are lots of health-conscious and vegetarian/vegan-friendly food options. The building itself appears to be an old warehouse of some kind; very cool ambiance. Do note that it's busier during the morning and lunch rush. I prefer things a little quieter, so I like it better in the afternoon or evening. I stopped in on a drizzly Saturday afternoon because I was looking for a place to catch up on my reading and maybe grab a bite. This place seemed instantly welcoming and cozy from the wood floors to the paintings on the walls. The service was extremely friendly and relaxed. (In fact, the second time I came in, the barista actually remembered my name.) I started a tab so I could settle in and stay awhile, then sat at the bar and took out my book. Throughout the 2 or 3 hours I spent there, I enjoyed the music, had conversations with friendly staff and regulars, had some satisfying dark roast, and ordered the bahn mi (with chicken) for lunch. Two thumbs up; I ordered it again the next time I stopped in. Since then, I've tried the Mexican hot chocolate (hot chocolate with cayenne) and the Mojo chili (white chicken chili with just enough kick). Both are fantastic. I love this place! This is my first yelp review ever written. Truthfully I haven't been to coffee shops to work since COVID, and I went to Mojo because of their patio, and they ended up having one extension cord that reached to outside which is awesome for working out there. But it got cold and I gave in and went inside to work. You're allowed to take mask off at table, I chose to keep mine on just cause, and I found that about half of the people in there also did too (depends on the day). I got the breakfast bowl which was phenomenal. I'm not the best person to judge coffee but it was good but I got hot tea as well and the baristas will let you get more hot water! The owner is great and he came around with a bowl of candy for early Halloween, and the baristas and especially Randy are all super dope. Very friendly and inviting atmosphere. Rarely am I in this part of town (being from Denver), but when the opportunity presented itself, I was glad to indulge! It's really the perfect place to grab a bite, sip on espresso or simply check out the art this gallery features. The owner - has his studio next door, which I found to be really cool! My husband and I spent time walking through, looking at the various paintings and sculptures and found the space to be trendy and cool, yet homey and warm. We came here for an intimate dinner party (aka my cousin's rehearsal dinner) and it really was the perfect place to bring together a unique group of people of family and friends alike. the owner is not only creatively talented but is a trained chef as well. he spoiled us with his homemade tapas and allowed us access to his espresso machine for the party. he was friendly, kind and his staff made the evening seamless - at least to us guests! This is a cool coffee shop in the Arts District of Northeast Minneapolis. Come here for a small bite to eat with a friend, or to connect to their wi-fi and get stuff done. When you walk into this coffee shop, you know you're hanging out in the Art District. This coffee shop is on the first floor of an old building that houses numerous art studios. They even feature a few dozen pieces from local artists on the walls of the shop. I enjoy coming here for a cup of coffee, and to connect to their wi-fi to get some course work done. The noise level is usually pretty average, so studying with or without headphones is possible. As for the menu, it's not terribly extensive. They have a handful of hot items like chili, and a small case of cold items. ------------------ UPDATE: Chili = Om nom nom I have now had both the meaty and vegan chili. Both are hand crafted in their kitchen. As a former vegetarian (8 years), I preferred the vegan chili un-veganized with cheddar cheese and sour cream. The meaty chili was just too meaty for me. The flavors of both were quite lovely, and they were spiced just right for my sensitive Minnesota tongue. But if you prefer a kick in the mouth, they have about 15 different hot sauces. read more

This Northeast java hideaway now claims my top spot for best place to pound out some "work" aka endlessly stare at all of the cool art that ranges from unique sculpted mugs to the vintage Mars Attacks poster. So. Freaking. Cool! To reiterate what Kristi E wrote, I hesitated writing a review, because I, too, "want to keep this place all to myself." What I love most about the space, though, is how open it feels. The ceiling seems higher than nine feet (thanks exposed beams), the square space doesn't feel constricting, the windows allow for tons of natural light, and the inside flows nicely into the sizable and quaint patio area. Even though it was a bit warm for Minnesota -- a blistering 70 degrees -- it felt nice and cool inside. OK, so the space is cool. But what about the coffee? I only had a cold press, and it was low on the acid (like how it should be) and perfect for the day. I just ate lunch, so I didn't have room in my stomach to try some of their baked goods and banh mis. (Yes, finally a coffee shop that serves a different kind of sandwich.) There's a robust selection of eats, for sure! Other things that you should know: +It's in the California Arts Building and on a residential street (California), so there isn't as much foot traffic as other coffee shops. +Once you enter the building, ascend the stairs to your left and take the far door on the right to get to Mojo. Cold brew with a live art installation! What's not to love? Jonathan T's review really sums every detail of this place up so well, but I can't believe how cool it actually is. It served as the perfect spot to get some good work done the last time I was in Minneapolis, and I'll definitely be going back again. The coffee I had was wonderful and I really can't wait to try more from the menu. The space itself is what sold me, though - I loved watching the artist in the corner work on some art made of wire...? (clearly I'm not an aficionado, but it was really cool.) There was a TV up high that was showing what he was doing, too, so you could see really well. I love the natural light that flows into the space, and overall this is just a really solid coffee shop. It might take you a minute to find it once you get inside the building, but don't let that deter you. *Terminator voice* I'll be back. read more

I just had a prepackaged kale and arugula salad with some type of delicious miso dressing. Not sure how long it's been there and not sure if I want to know but it was so good I was prompted to write this review. And again, if you are hangry, you might need to order about 5 of these because the portions are tiny. I was definitely left wanting more. HOW DARE THEY TEASE THE FAT KID THAT LIVES INSIDE OF ME. There is so much I want to talk about: the deck, the art, the spaciousness, the food, the coffee, the staff; but ain't nobody got time for that. Oh my! I felt like I needed a beard and an expensive looking laptop to really blend in here. I didn't blend in. It's such a hipster place there's a level 7 Pokemon gym. My team of novice Pokemon got thrashed. Fascinating physical venue, very much of our time, hipster today. The cameras pointing at the customers felt intrusive, what do they think I'm going to do? Do they really need CCTV pointing at their customers? Are they getting threats? Expecting a shooter incident? Not cool. I ordered a breakfast bowl and a chai latté. They gave me a number on a stick that could have been reclaimed from a 1950's setting. So I asked if it would be bought to my table and they confirmed. After waiting 20 minutes, without a snifter of a passing Pokemon to catch, I went up to the serving area and said that I felt neglected. They told me they had called out my Chai then given it away when noone answered. I felt told-off, I didn't point out that I hadn't been listening because they told me they would bring it over, that would feel argumentative. I didn't come here to argue. They made me a new Chai and gave me my bowl as I stood at the counter. Apparently it was ready, I just needed to pick it up. I wasn't impressed by the food, but then I was in a bad temperament because the food took 20 mins and they weren't even a quarter full. I won't be going back read more

Everything falls into place for this remodeled coffee stop w/artful adventures decorating the walls, and the pieces are for sale. High rise and low rise wood tables, an artisan practicing his craft and continuous video on the wide screen of a potter creating. The perfect combination for this northern end of the arts district filling in N.E. Mpls. The area is changing from grimy industrial-warehouse to craft brews, art galleries and lofts. Cold and hot food and the usual variety of drinks. The interior basic is about the same as when Mill City was in place and they moved on to bigger things in another part of N.E. Mojo has a stage for music (who did they bribe at city hall for that). That's a tough license to get from owners I've known. This will be another great place to hang and observe memorabilia and inspect pottery from the California Building studios. I'm looking forward to warmer days and stopping as a halfway point on a bike or walking trek. Oh the food-Muffins moisty and tasty with a good helping of blueberries. Bahn-Mi on the sweet side with softy bun but still chewy. Plentiful supply of chips to fill the plate. I like the dark roast to be a little stronger than offered but this still had swirling after taste which is a good thing. Nice addition to the neighborhood. read more

Aghhh I don't want anyone to know about this place, because I want to keep it all to myself!! But damn you all, you uber-friendly baristas, and you incredibly welcoming interior, spacious tables, ample outlets, delicious cafe au laits, and SURPRISE awesome live jazz music on Thursdays 4-6....this just might be the next best thing about Minneapolis. This cafe just happens to be in my absolute favorite building in the TC, the California Arts building, which is home to some of the most talented artists and their insanely cool studios. This coffee shop lives in the once vibrant Mill City Cafe (which I definitely did not try to get into 2 years ago to find that it was closed and felt like an idiot.) The entrance is on the East side of the building, or from the patio - which I am supa stoked to check out when spring finally decides to show up. Another perk, there is space IN the cafe for artists to work IRL !! There was an artist painting when I waltzed in, and he even asked for my opinion, so basically I was an essential part of the next arts movement. read more

OH BOY, when I read on Yelp that Mojo "felt like Portland," I thought, I am FROM Portland, gotta go see! And I went every single day of a weeklong event in nearby Fridley. I knew immediately what the other reviewer meant: a repurposed building, artists' work on the walls, art studios above, set in a neighborhood .... good blend of attractions for different people (working thru lunch, meeting friends, spreading out with a kid, a bar area for chatting up the barista) and GREAT mix of seating! The outside desk was both shady and sunny, with different levels. And, even Portland couldn't compete with the fascinating grain elevator on the same street, perhaps a relic of a different time. I had the breakfast sandwich eveery morning, along with my latte done exactly as I asked (I am from Portland, high standards) and I would return here in a heartbeat. Well done. NOTE: don't get frustrated looking for Mojo -- it IS tucked away and going down the street, it's hard to imagine you are headed to a fine coffee emporium -- stick to it, you will LOVE it. read more

Went here Saturday 10/2 for the first time. The place is pretty cool with eclectic decor, and also some outdoor seating. No table big enough outside for our party so we had to sit indoors. I wouldn't go here for food. I had the white chicken chili - the menu said "famous". It was so so, needs some seasoning. I ended up dumping cholula in it to give it some flavor. My daughter also had the potatoes - they were disgusting - like thick floppy potato chips swimming in grease. She threw them away after getting no takers to help her eat them at the table. I had an iced mocha - it was good but a little expensive. So, ok for coffee and atmosphere but in the morning I want some food. read more

This is probably one of my favorite coffee shops in the twin cities because it has a super casual atmosphere. Very unique...I find myself looking up from studying to check out the different sculptures ans pottery on the walls. It has a decent amount of seating and there is typically an outlet nearby. They have food but ive never ordered anything. I only get a regular 16 oz coffee when I visit but its good and cheap. The prices here are pretty great. Their baked goods are delicious...try their brownies!! There is a good mix of people that come here. A few people come and do pottery stuff in the corner. Theres older people who just sit with their drink and people watch (but not in a creepy way lol) and theres the typical college student as well as couples and friends just having conversations. It never gets too loud or distracting so I tend to come here to study. read more

I'm on whole 30 this month and I was very nervous about being able to find something on the menu that was compliant with my current food restrictions. I write a lot of reviews, and most of the time they're positive. I have debated writing this one because I have friends who love this place, but my experience this past weekend was so horrible and upsetting, I feel the need to share it. I'd honestly say that it was the #1 worst experience with bad customer service I've ever had in my life, so I think it's worth mentioning. I'd been to Mojo a few times before, and it's great for all the reasons other reviewers have mentioned----super cute, artsy, decent menu, great vibe. There's artwork all over the place, and live music, so it's easy to love the space. My only complaint is the service----and both times I've been there I had a very negative experience with the same person. In both cases, I felt attacked/targeted. Last summer, we took our 20-something year old kids to see our friend Dave play guitar. We were having a great time, but then my daughter suddenly felt ill. We needed to find a bathroom FAST. We went rushing up to the counter, and I asked the young woman behind the counter where the bathroom was. She GLARED at me, and said, "I'm helping someone here." I said, "I'm really sorry but my daughter is about to be sick, so we need to know where it is right now...." She pointed in the direction of the bathroom, and then spent the rest of my time there GLARING at me. Which brings us to this past weekend. We were again there to support our friend Dave, who was performing there. We ordered food and drinks, and were enjoying being there. The young woman server (who I didn't recognize until later...) brought out my drink, but it was hot and I'd ordered it cold/ iced. I said, "Oh, it was supposed to be iced." She GLARED again and stomped off. A few minutes later she brought the iced drink and I thanked her. A minute later, she comes back to the table, glaring at me, to show me the paper slip, saying "See here? It doesn't say ICED!!" I was taken aback, and said, "OK, not sure why you need to prove you're right...." She then came around the table closer to me, and more aggressively showed me the slip, saying "See, it doesn't say ICED!" I told her I thought she was being very rude, at which point she stormed off to the manager to complain about me, and they spent the next 20 minutes pointing and staring at me. It was surreal, and weird, and upsetting. I think the place is great, but for some reason that young woman (in her 30's) has been unspeakably rude twice. I'll never go back. read more

Mojo is the most welcoming coffee shop in Twin Cities! They are dog friendly and give my pup treats every time we come by. I love to work here in the weekends mostly for ample natural light, which is a luxury in winter months in Minnesota. There are plenty of plugs and WiFi is flawless. Their latte is perfection, it has a rich nutty flavor that I keep craving throughout the week. If you find your self here during lunch their signature white chili is delicious and very affordable (~3$ a cup). Around lunch time on the weekends, local artists come and play live acoustic music, mostly slower tunes, perfect for the rainy days. In summer months, their sunny, green patio is an awesome place to work from, very quiet due to almost no traffic. Mojo is my zen oasis and I'm so thankful it exists! read more
