    Cheese pastry. Soooooo good!!!

One of the best spots in PR. Been coming here for years and they never, ever disappoint. Food is excellent. Service is everything! Place is always clean and well kept.

If you are looking for authentic and home made feel puertorican food, Molinis is the place to go in the San Juan/Santurce area. I was raised in Puerto Rico, and currently 55 years old, and one of my best memories involve the food my Mom used to cook, I literally had a "Ratatouille" moment with the first bite I took with various dishes served at Molinis. The owners David Santini and Joanna Molina have a personal approach to the service they provide and personally make sure customers are a 100% satisfied with the food and the service. if you are in the San Juan area, this restaurant is definitely a most go spot for the best home cooked puertorican food and excellent service. Below is my family with the owner David Santini at Molinis.

Local, typical dishes. I had the lunch special and my kid had the salmon.

The most delicious and flavorful food. We went based on recommendation from our tour guide that lives there and said it was one of his favorites. He was not wrong! Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. The service was super friendly. Place was filled with locals so you know it's good!

Terrific Puerto Rican cuisine in Calle Loíza. Menu is refreshed every day; being the holidays, I knew I had to get the pastele de masa. The dish itself was delicous, with root vegetable masa and pork in the banana leaf combining well and creating a wonderul aroma. Rice and beans are pretty standard, but tasty nonetheless. Also liked the plantain maduros and pork chop that came with my friend's plate. Pork might've been a bit dry. Service was busy but friendly. We visited during lunch, which put pressure on the two-person restaurant. Took a while to take our orders and to get them out. However, the owner was friendly and did her best to translate the Spanish menu for us. No credit cards accepted, though they now take Venmo. Overall, a tasty and reasonably-priced place for Puerto Rican food in the area. Good, down-home atmosphere. Had I been visiting longer, I would've definitely stopped in again.

Very good ! Better than lasagna... had the sweet plantains instead of noodles They were able to explain the Spanish menu in English for us which made things much easier. I ended up pulling up Yelp and pointing to a picture! LOL

Mofongo stuffed with shrimp and stuff. Highly recommend!

Two of us came in around noon for lunch. We were seated pretty quickly and ordered water to start. We were given bottled waters and charged $1.50 per. Would have been nice to know that beforehand, or at least given the option for tap, when we saw others around us with it. Beef stew: $14 The beef was cooked till it was very soft, and the dish had decent flavors in it. Definitely wasn't bad, but nothing too special. Mofongo stuffed with shrimp: $18 This was definitely the star dish. Usually, mofongo is just a ball of mashed fried plantains and can get pretty heavy. However, Molini's take on this dish was a bowl made out of mofongo, filled with lots of shrimp and a gumbo type sauce. Highly recommend this dish for its innovation and flavor. The price might steer you away from first glance, but the dish is well worth it. Based on food alone, solid 4.5 stars. However, there were other factors at play. We ended up staying in the restaurant for about 2 hours because the food took so long to come out. We noticed that people who arrived after us were getting their food before us. Perhaps it was because the dishes we ordered took over an hour to prepare, perhaps it was because our server forgot to put in our order, we'll never know. Also, when the food came, the server practically threw our plates down in front of us in a not so welcoming way. I don't expect top quality service from a family run restaurant, but a little politeness and decency goes a long way. Hopefully it's an isolated issue as I really liked Molini's.

Great food, ambience and service. Johanna was so nice and friendly. Made me feel welcomed. I would recommend.

Food was amazing! You can tell everyone loves working here from the kitchen to the front of house. The service was awesome, David explained the menu to us in english and in spanish.

From the moment you step through the doors, you are wrapped in a vibrant, welcoming ambiance that perfectly balances lively energy with cozy, authentic charm. But the true star of the show is the food. Every single dish bursts with rich, ancestral flavors, serving up exceptional quality that respects deep-rooted family traditions. The absolute standout is their Bistec Encebollado (beef steak with onions). The steak is perfectly tender, marinated to perfection, and smothered in a mountain of sweet, caramelized onions. Paired with a side of fluffy white rice, savory beans, and perfectly caramelized sweet plantains (maduros), it is pure culinary comfort. You can quite literally taste the love and history in every bite--it doesn't just feel like you're eating at a restaurant; it feels like you've been invited into a family's home kitchen where recipes have been perfected over generations. The Verdict: Incredible food, an unforgettable atmosphere, and a beautiful dedication to heritage. El Jibarito is a masterclass in tradition done right. Don't pass this one up!

Attire was relaxed-- I saw ladies in pants as well as dresses, men in pants and shorts, but the staff was dressed sharply in all black. We waited a bit while two hosts and a manager worked to assemble several tables on the patio for a group of ten which had arrived before us. The patio decor-- murals and greenery, were beautiful. We requested indoor seating near the bar, and were the second of four tables to be filled. The indoor seating was a bit darker, had two bartenders working nonstop, and three televisions were playing inside. The inside seating area was quieter and more intimate (plus cooler in temperature) than the patio option. Our server, Raul, promptly greeted us and asked if we preferred English or Spanish. Promising to give honest recommendations of our selections, he did-- and made great suggestions as well. We started with risotto balls as an appetizer-- the guava dipping sauce was delicious. They were cheesier than my husband could stomach, so several remained on our plate. For our entrees, my husband chose the Ropa Vieja en Canoa (peeled, hollowed out like a canoe). I selected the Fried Red Snapper (served whole) with creole sauce, a house salad (lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, orange slices, mango dressing) and fried sweet plantains. After a bite, I asked for a glass of Blanc de Blancs, which was a wonderful, crisp pairing. We could not finish our meals, much less entertain the offer of dessert. By the time we left, all four tables were being served inside, there were four gyesss eating dinner at the bar, and the patio seating looked maxed out as well. I was expecting more authentic, bold flavors which it was not. Service was hit or miss it appeared depending on the server and the table. It took longer than it should have to get our food and even simple things like refills were slow. It felt a little disorganized, especially considering it wasn't that busy. The atmosphere is nice and the location is convenient there but it just didn't quite come together on this visit. Not a terrible experience overall, but there's room for improvement. Despite that, it's a nice platter to share and try a bit of everything. It's really nice that if you order for 4 people, they give you exactly the amount of pieces that are divisible by 4 (so everyone can try 1-2 pieces of each thing evenly).
