So I don't typically write reviews here, but this place is absolutely incredible. Our airbnb host recommended this little place to us and we ended up going twice! The menu changes daily and was great both times. The owner works here and is very friendly, so chat with him if you get a chance. They were out of the dish I ordered, so he whipped something up for me that the waitress called "little boat" and it was possibly the best thing I have ever had, definitely the best food I've had in PR! If you're in the ocean park area, this place is definitely worth a visit! read more

There are good breakfast options in the area, and if it weren't for my boyfriend just walking in and asking, we would have gone to one of them. Glad we stopped here. The service was friendly and helpful, the food was good, the smiles genuine and the cafe con leche woke me up. Oh and their hot sauce must have been made on the premises because it was one of the most flavorful we've had. Definitely plan on going back to try lunch and dinner. Walked in after a long day beaching and window shopping on Calle Loíza. My friend and I were looking to try mofongo and Molini's gave us exactly what we were looking for! My mistake was waiting until the day we were leaving to eat here. The menu changes daily - what did I miss the days before - I kept wondering! The food was great the service was attentive and the price was right. The only downside (which is an upside for them) was the lunch crowd. We got there at a good time (right at 11a) but when it was time to get the check it was packed. I took one picture (posted) but I began to eat my great looking and tasting food so quickly that I didn't get to take a picture of mine. I had a sweet plantain stuffed with ground beef. AMAZING. I was born, raised and still live in Spanish Harlem (which at one point was primarily black and purteo rican and Italian families) and so I KNOW what Puerto rican food tastes like and this was home times 5! Have the tamarind drink and if you like spice, be sure to ask for Pique (but only if you can handle spice - its fire in a bottle). Gracias Molini's! read more

Food was relatively reasonably priced and the service so incredible, we had our food to table less than a 5 minutes after ordering. We ordered mofongo with shrimps and creole sauce, as well as tostones with a Puerto Rican clam. Don't hope to order the same though, as they create an all new menu everyday! This was by far the WORST service I've ever had! We came here with a group of 5 people, enjoyed our meal, ordered some tap water and we were ready to leave as happy customers until the bill came. BEWARE. They're shady people who will charge you for an extra jug of tap water and not tell you about it. Yes. TAP WATER that is supposed to be FREE. When I asked the waitress what was the extra charge from, and why did she not warn us before, she was rude but said she could remove the charge from the bill. Everything was fine until the manager came to us yelling in front of all the customers that it will be charged. I accepted the fact that some people just don't know how to run a honest business and have to find ways to make money off of customers any way they can. But I don't appreciate being yelled at like a criminal. Fix your attitude or it won't matter how good the food is because this terrible customer service just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. As we were leaving the manager came to apologize after she had created a scene in front of all her customers. It shouldn't have escalated to that point and for this reason, I don't recommend people going here. McDonalds have better service. read more

My wife and I love to always taste the local culture when we travel and we actually stumbled onto this place looking for another. Let me tell you what, one of THE BEST meals we had while in San Juan. Absolutely wonderful CASH ONLY restaurant. The mofongo was extraordinary, the soups amazing, and the paella was delicious. It's a small place, so it's easy to miss. Keep your eyes peeled on the south side of Loiza street. The papaya smoothie and bacon were ok (kinda tough to mess either of those up). The French Toast was underwhelming, the scrambled eggs were dry and terrible. I was not at all pleased after all of the hype and when I got the more than $19.00 bill I was pissed. I wished I had gone to Dennys (a pet peeve of mine when I go somewhere that I know little about). Food to me is something that cooks should take pride in, I'm not even impressed by presentation as I am about the taste and quality of food, the fact that my scrambled eggs were over done (something an 8 year old can perfect) , tells me the cook didn't give a rat's ass. read more

For about a decade, Molini's has been and continues to be the best fonda (family-run restaurant) in San Juan. The menu changes daily, and you can always expect truly outstanding home style cooking. Side dishes include exceptional beans and homemade fries. Their carne mechada (Puerto Rican style pot roast) and arroz con pollo are wonderful (unfortunately, they are on the menu only some days); also outstanding is their bistec encebollado or empanado. Molini's was hands down the best restaurant I tried while in San Juan, and that says a lot because I genuinely enjoyed the food options there. During my 5 day stay, I had the pleasure of eating at Molini's twice (because once just wasn't enough). The first time, I ordered the Pollo BBQ (BBQ chicken) and it was absolutely to die for. It is a pretty big portion, for under $10, and I ordered it with rice, delicious beans and a salad. The owner, David, was very friendly and personable. He took the time to talk with us and even gave suggestions of other places to visit while in town. The second time I visited, I must admit I was a little disappointed that the Pollo BBQ was not on the menu. David had mentioned that their menu changes depending on the day and what they prepare in the kitchen that day. Well, the fact that there was no Pollo BBQ was actually a blessing in disguise because I then opted to try the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. It was absolutely the best meatloaf I have ever had (sorry mom!) and I found myself savoring every bite of it. If you are ever in San Juan, Molini's is a MUST VISIT. The combination of delicious food and friendly service is hard to beat. read more
