Ordered from the kiost, and sat by the pickup counter where they have a screen displaying what orders are prepped or ready. Drinks came out pretty fast. I had to specifically ask for a to-go bag but the server wasn't mea n about it. The place is very clean and the decor is pretty, nice aesthetic if you want to take pics. For being almost $10, the drink was pretty basic. The Jamine Milk Tea is delicious and the Jasmine Whipped Cream is nice but the pecans on top were unneccesary, in my opinion. Genuinely annoyed because this business is disorganized. They are so busy that they have like 10 employees, but then half the time 3-4 of them standing around chatting. After two visits to Molly Tea, I can finally provide my a more sound review of the place considering both experiences. I had mixed reactions for my first time at Molly Tea, which was during grand opening weekend. Like most other visitors, I was drawn in by the hype of the brand and the promise of buy one get one free offer. Molly Tea has long been regarded as a premium quality milk tea brand in Asia and now expanding overseas. Houston was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the first locations in the US. Knowing the classic drinks offered at Molly Tea, I came into the shop with drinks in mind, but disappointingly found that the BOGO offer was only valid for select drinks, and the drinks I had in mind were of course excluded. I wish there was more clarity on that in the marketing for grand opening BOGO because I certainly wasn't the only disappointed visitor waiting in line and receiving the news. Not a great start to the initial experience, but I still kept my spirits high excited to try the drinks: the Premium Jasmine Milk Tea and the Pistachio White Champaca Coconut. When I finally received my drinks, I sipped the jasmine milk tea first, and as a general fan of jasmine flavors, I was not impressed. Maybe it was a busy grand opening weekend and supplies ran low, but I am doubtful whether the drink used fresh milk as it tasted watered down. My second drink, which was the pistachio cloud with white champaca and coconut water, tasted great! It kept me yearning for more, which prompted my second visit. For my second visit, I finally ordered the drink that I wasn't able to qualify for the BOGO order the visit before, Snowy Jasmine, and another order of the Pistachio White Champaca Coconut. Needless to say, the PWCC was as great as I remembered, but the Snowy Jasmine still lacked a spark. Overall, I think if you are looking for some unique tea flavors, I think Molly Tea can definitely deliver. I don't think I have seen other tea shops in the US serve drinks with the pecan toppings and fresh pistachio chunks, which certainly takes the drinks up a level. However, the price charged for the drinks in the medium sized cup also reflect some of the higher costs for the ingredients, so don't expect to be able to get drinks here for any less than $7 or to be served a huge cup. A few other tips to consider: 1. If you do not want too much ice in your drinks, go with no ice instead of less ice. Less ice still meant half a cup of ice in my experience while no ice meant the drink was chilled but no ice will be in the cup. 2. Go with the recommended 70% sugar; it tastes like 30% or 50% in comparison to other tea shops. 3. I recommend ordering ahead in the app to take advantage of potential coupon offers and to skip the line. However, if you do order through the app, just note that they don't always update the status of your drinks, so ask the staff for the status when your estimated time has passed so they can double check whether your drinks are ready. 4. Although there is still a crowd when I visited last, the lines move relatively quickly and there has always been some seats available to wait indoors. I really enjoy the modern tea shop aesthetics and seating options lining the wall, and I can see this being a nice place to chat with friends once the crowd lessens. 5. All of the above are my personal opinions based on personal taste, and given that my experience has been mixed with the drinks here, I recommend everyone to give this place at least one try to form your own opinion. read more

For the love of tea, Houston's newest tea shop has taken over! Molly Tea has been opening across the states and I was glad to hear that they were opening in Houston. This addition to the busy Chinatown area was a no-brainer, as it is able to attract those who enjoy tea drinks and those looking for something to sip on before or after meals in the surrounding area. The masses really showed up to taste their tea once the shop opened and lines were super long...all the way out to the end of the plaza, along Corporate Drive. Their tea menu is known for being premium and for me, it was love at first sip. Their Top 6 menu includes their most popular choices, and I can see why people love them. I tried their #1, Premium Jasmine Milk Tea (hot) and it is so fragrant and pure, you can really taste the actual tea flavor and the mouth feel is great. Molly Tea uses a triple channel straw design, which I think enhanced my tea experience. Next, I had their Snowy Jasmine (iced), which was similar to the taste of their #1 but I absolutely loved the jasmine infused whipped cream on top and the sprinkle of chopped pecans. Their #4, Pistachio Jasmine Coconut (iced) was a refreshing tea beverage which was highly enjoyable due to the slightly salty, nutty, and creamy top to accompany the smooth and fragrant jasmine tea and coconut water. Another drink is their Camellia Oolong Milk Tea (hot), which was even stronger and more bold than their jasmine tea. If I had to decide which was my favorite amongst the ones I've tasted, I honestly would have a hard time, because all of them were delicious. I can't wait to go back and try it all. They have quality bags for to-go orders and the cup is sealed for safety. Staff have been friendly and answered everyone's questions about the tea menu. The menu is clear and easy to understand, as there are symbols indicating which drinks are hot/cold, and the prices for additional toppings are prominently displayed. The ice level and sugar level can be adjusted to liking, which was accurately delivered in all of the drinks I have tried so far. As a plus, they have both audio and visual for order numbers as they become ready for pickup at the counter. Seating is modern and neutral toned, though can be crowded at this time due to high popularity. My group and I were all satisfied with our drinks each time we visited since their opening, so I truly hope they keep up the great taste and quality of their teas. At the first impression, I like the cleanliness of the store; however, it does not have plenty of seat, so I don't recommend this place for family gathering. The staff was friendly and answered my question very good, huge bonus. They have not too much options to choose, but you are there for their famous Janine tea. $7 to $8 for a drink, which is overpriced for me. About the taste, I like that the drink was not super sweet. I highly recommend you go with 50-70% for sweetness level. About the drinks, very jasmine-y, but here is the thing. The Jasmine aroma is strong but not the base. I ordered jasmine milk tea, and it tasted like jasmine flavored milk. If you don't like the taste of tea, I think Molly Tea is a great option for you. The pistachio cream jasmine coconut has a better balanced layer flavor. The minus point are waiting time, which could be better after the hype, and you have to really pay attention for your order. I was able to visit Molly Tea during their grand opening day. They were pretty busy, but the wait time was decent for their grand opening day. We got in line at 12:05 pm. As the line moved up more, we can see two staffs walking down passing out paper menus. One staff member was writing down the orders on each paper menu that was passed out. I think that really helped their line move a bit faster. We finally reached the door and placed our order at 12:49 pm. Not too terrible for the position we were in the line. They had about 3-4 different cashiers helping. We were able to get our drinks at 1:01 pm. Overall, wait time is not bad. The drinks we got were their premium jasmine milk tea, white champaca milk tea, premium jasmine matcha, and their jasmine apple milk tea. We got regular sweet for all of their drinks because the staff said that their recommended levels for sugar is 75%. Their drinks were decent, but in my opinion, I think the jasmine milk tea tastes pretty similar to HeyTea's jasmine milk tea. Would I go back again? Maybe.. once the lines die down at least. read more

Went during the grand opening. Because they were running the promotion and it was slammed I'm bumping them up from a 3.5 to 4 stars. We tried a variety of drinks. The tea flavor is actually pretty nice. The osmanthus milk tea had a wonderfully fruity flavor. Their jasmine tea was also nice. I liked the champanca tea as well. All the drinks I thought were a bit too milky for my taste to where the tea was a bit too subtle. We also realized that even though my friends and I got identical drinks, they all tasted pretty different. My apple milk tea was pretty tangy and had a nice apple flavor, but my other two friends could only taste jasmine. I thought that was weird when they said they couldn't taste apple in theirs but when I took a sip of their drink, it definitely tasted way more subtle on the apple flavor. Usually in boba places I get 50% sweetness, but I felt that even the default 70% sweetness was about that or even less sweet than other boba places 50%. My theory is is that if you get tapioca or any kind of add in, that adds additional sweetness but because Molly tea has limited add ons, there's nothing additional to add sweetness. The jasmine whipped cream was subtle and not worth the 3 dollar up charge in my opinion. read more

Mollytea is just okay to me. I will say their jasmine tea is my favorite one that I ordered. The flavor of the jasmine was strong and has the best fragrance. When you order the teas it's defaulted to 75% sweet and less ice which I usually like but I think here I personally would like it a bit sweeter. They aren't known for being sweet though so it's understandable. It's a bit on the pricey side so I wouldn't come here often. Quality control needs some work. I went twice during the soft opening and unfortunately, the consistency of drinks was lacking. The first day I got the jasmine milk tea 50% sweet and peach tea; the tea flavor really shined for both drinks. It's was floral and strong. For the second day, I got the jasmine again, but this time also tried the champaca and oolong. I could barely taste any tea flavor in any of these drinks. They were severely watered down. Once the hype wears off, I'm hoping to give them another try, but there's some improvements needed. I tried Molly Tea for the first time in Flushing NY and was immediately hooked. I'm so happy the Houston location is finally here! I came around 5pm on the first day of their soft opening. The line wasn't too long when I joined but it quickly grew behind me. I tried the Premium Jasmine Mango Coconut drink, which was less sweet and tropical than I expected. The pineapple lime pulp, mango juice, coconut water, and jasmine tea mix was a little bland and tart, and the cloud layer was a little salty. After mixing, it seems to have a young mango flavor with a dry aftertaste. The milky base seems to dilute the flavor too. The drink comes in the clear cup with a cute sticker attached. The paper cup version is for the typical drinks that come in the paper cup, such as the milk teas. The iced and matcha teas would come in the plastic version. The packaging is cute, but I wouldn't recommend the flavor. I did see a new canvas tote (braid version) with grommets and pleather cord straps. Strangely, the iced jasmine tea had a dry aftertaste too. From April 3-9, first 100 receipts per day will get a turn at the mini gacha machine (coupons and prizes). The staff are still very orderly when faced with lots of people. Sometimes, the customers get a little impatient as some drinks aren't ready to be bagged when they approach to pick up their drinks. The short line outside the door was misconceiving. Ordering went slightly slow with a solicitation for people to try the Camellia drink series for a prize giveaway despite having two registers. Molly Tea could not push out the drinks fast enough so it bottlenecks after you order. The crowd of people hovering the pick up station made it chaotic. The screen to show which drinks were ready/in progress wasn't as visible with the crowd and the poor employee's voice isn't loud enough to yell out the numbers. It was roughly an hour to order and have the drinks in hand. Tip: Download the app to order ahead. As for the drinks themselves, it comes standard with 70% sweetness level. The Premium Jasmine Milk Tea had nice floral notes to it and not as sweet as you think 100% sweet would be. The Premium Jasmine Matcha at 70% sweet was sweeter than the Milk Tea at 100% sweet. As a milk tea LOVER, I stumbled upon Molly Tea in NYC and was blown away by the fragrant milk tea, balanced flavors, and smooth drinks. Naturally, I was ecstatic when they opened in Houston's Chinatown. Luckily when I went, there was no line to order, but they did have a lot of mobile orders and people waiting for drinks. I waited quite a while and they did not read out my number when the drink was ready. I saw that my drink was waiting at the counter for a while until I went up and asked. So, service is a bit slow. Ambiance: Very busy, not a place to hang around. There is seating and wifi, but it is loud and gets a lot of foot traffic. More of a grab and go place. Drinks: I tried their signature jasmine milk tea (yum! very tea forward, fragrant, good quality). However, I have come to the realization that $8+ for a milk tea without any toppings/boba is steep and compared to other spots, I could be getting more. That aside, the drinks here are the most floral and tea forward, so if you want a good quality milk tea, Molly Tea is it! I had Molly Tea for the first time a couple weeks ago in Cali and it was one of the best jasmine drinks I've ever had so I was so happy to find that there was one in Houston!! However, we were quite disappointed with the drinks here as they didn't have a strong tea flavor and mostly tasted like milk. We got the classic jasmine milk tea and the matcha jasmine, with the jasmine milk tea having a slight jasmine flavor and the matcha jasmine basically tasting like straight milk. The jasmine milk tea isn't sweet enough, doesn't have much flavor and just feels like tea with a bit of creaminess. Definitely doesn't feel premium, though they do a good job of packaging and marketing.
