I don't know whether to rave about the phenomenal food or the exceptional service first. We drive…read moreover an hour just to eat here. We're originally from NY but let me tell you, Nonna Luisa Ristorante beats "the best," most well known Italian restaurants in and around NYC. Hands down. There's no way anyone could possibly leave this place feeling anything other than full, happy, and excited to come back. Like a true Italian family, Nonna's won't let anyone go hungry. We were planning on having dinner here one night but the ferry was late. By the time we pulled up it was already 30 minutes after they closed so we sat in our car parked across the street looking up what other places might still be open. The owner happened to be outside and shouts "Are you hungry?!" They had already cleared out for the night, there weren't people still sitting down eating. But he invited us in anyway. I would've expected our server Carmen to be annoyed because I'm sure she wanted to go home but instead she welcomed us in just like the owner did. We thanked her and apologized but she said "that's what we do here, we take care of people." They even gave us a free desert since we were celebrating a birthday. Come here because you're hungry, come here to celebrate, come here because you don't feel like cooking, come here because it's a random Wednesday... just come here.

Granaio Italian Restaurant was the perfect venue for the April '26 monthly meeting for our Car…read moreClub! We reserved the restaurant for 2 hours on the weekend during the Tulip festival. Our servers Stephanie and Elizabeth were so helpful, they made the whole experience so stress-free! We got to the restaurant an hour early to setup the Auxiliary meeting room we reserved for our club meeting. After talking with the servers, it was decided that it may not be big enough for a group of our size. The servers graciously offered to close off the main portion of the restaurant instead, and redirect the normal patrons to the Auxiliary meeting room. This worked excellent, and there was plenty of space for our club to meet! The servers also helped up re-arrange the tables to suit our needs, and we had plenty of space. The menus worked great, and the food was absolutely delicious. Additionally, we had one or two guests who had dietary restrictions, and the servers were more than accommodating to them. Our club meeting also went very well! The restaurant was quiet and we had no trouble hearing our president and officers make announcements. The servers very discreetly gathered up the checks, and nobody had any complaints about things not being processed properly. Overall, the officers commented about how accommodating the restaurant was and how the servers went out of their way to make our meeting work well. And it did - we one of the highest turnouts of any non-holiday meeting despite the rain. Thanks so much for the great experience. We will be back next year!

I discovered Chef in the Black Bandana by accident while conducting some business next door…read more For those that know Zanini's restaurant, Black Bandana has taken over their location under Frasier's Gourmet Hideaway on Dock St. After talking with the hostess, I found out the chef has over 30 years experience and the hostess is also the front manager and she has over 30 years of managerial experience. I perused the menu on a large chalkboard and chose the Emmer Spaghetti and added the optional meatballs. While waiting for my meal I discovered that they might have cannolis! I asked about getting a cannoli and was told that they would need to see if there was enough ingredients for one. I was in luck and was able to order one! The spaghetti was very well prepared and cooked. I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and the homemade pasta. The meatballs were the highlight in my opinion! The background music was playing "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang and there's a line that asks "what is your pleasure" and I thought "right now? This meatball and the spaghetti!" Then I was handed my cannoli and I was amazed at the flavors and textures! One end was dipped in chocolate chips and the other end in pistachio pieces ! The filling had a slight citrus flavor and of course the shell was nice and crispy. I was very pleased with the meal and dessert. In the photo you may notice that my spaghetti was served in a plastic container. Keep in mind The Chef in the Black Bandana just opened 8 days ago and they are still working through the startup process. In fact, their official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting is April 26th.

This place is a tiny Italian market serving food as well. I loved the ambience, and being able to…read moreenjoy food outside in a quiet setting. The market inside is well decorated and lends itself to an old-time traditional Italian feeling. The service was nice (the woman working the counter was sweet as could be). As for food we ordered the Emmer Spaghetti, Summer Cavatelli and Spicy Milano. The pastas were very fresh tasting, as they make the pasta in house themselves. I found the Cavatelli to be well balanced. It was a great carrier for the fresh heirloom tomatoes and english peas. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly al dente. The sandwich was fantastic. They make the bread in house and it definitely shows in all the best ways. It was crusty, chewy and a great vessel for the meat. The only qualm I have about the place is the price; it feels a bit high for what you receive, especially in the case of the spaghetti. Over all I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual Italian deli with fresh house made food, and who doesn't mind spending a little extra to support a small business.
