Bakery Lorraine never disappoints. I picked up a box of pastries from the Good To Go option and everything was such good quality. You can really taste how well-made everything is. The chocolate croissant was my favorite, perfectly flaky and rich, and the mince pies were also really good. I also love their cute outdoor seating area in the back, it's a nice spot to hang out if you have time to stay.
Fresh pastries and friendly service. Easy in and out but parking is limited and there is a Merit coffee here as well. Clean space to enjoy your baked goods and great to meet up with someone. Average noise but can be quiet as well. Well lit inside. Closes around 3pm daily. $$
We loved Bakery Lorraine at The Pearl! Everything was fresh, beautifully made, and full of flavor. Stopped by Bakery Lorraine (Medical Center location) for a quick bite, and it did not disappoint. I had the avocado toast with smoked salmon and a perfectly soft egg on top--super fresh and flavorful without feeling heavy. I paired it with an iced latte made with coconut milk and sugar-free vanilla, and honestly, it was perfect. Smooth, not too sweet, and exactly what I needed to get through the day. The staff was friendly, my order came out quickly, and the whole vibe was chill even though they were busy. Definitely a solid go-to spot in the area for good coffee and fresh bites.
Came here a few times and definitely a great spot to return to. Parking can be a little difficult since there are a few 15min only parking and limited open parking shared with neighboring shops; though can always park on the street next to the complex on Clinic Dr. Ambiance is always lively and bright, people chattering casually so probably not the best place to have a private conversation. Good place to study or do work if you have noise canceling headphones. The food is always wonderfully made. Pastries are made in excellent quality. The breakfast sandwiches are also very hearty and savory. Their fruit juices are made fresh as well as very well made coffee. Staff are always welcoming and cheerful. Because of the good food and friendly staff, will come back to try more dishes. Keep up the good work Cafe Lorraine!
I quickly stopped by to pick up a cinnamon roll. The service was okay, the man working at the register asked me for my order, then immediately left to do something else in the middle of my sentence. I would not have minded if he excused himself or acknowledged it afterwards, but he didn't. When he returned, he asked for my order again and that was pretty much it. I was not mad about it, but it did feel quite rude. The cinnamon roll was really good! It was a huge cinnamon-flavored croissant with icing. It was the best cinnamon roll I have ever had; it wasn't too sweet, and it was flaky and buttery. I don't know if they can warm them, but mine was room temperature. I did not get the best look at the bakery, but I remember it looked cute to me. It's a small bakery, so it's pretty cozy and gives off a nice little cafe vibe.
A delicious surprise... I was thrilled to see the Lorraine's standards of service and quality of food have transported perfectly to the new Medical Center location. I enjoyed a marvelous triple espresso... made with Merit espresso beans, which are full bodied and bright... We thoroughly enjoyed the cheese and peanut butter macaroon - yes, it taste like a cheese and peanut butter sandwich cracker. The staff was friendly and helpful... I appreciated them clarifying I wanted a triple espresso and not an Americano. I like my coffee strong. Cheers!

The croissants are always a good choice, but if you're looking for a sweet option, grab a morning bun. Can't go wrong with the macarons either. Park in the Koehler Garage for 2 hours free parking.
I am a big coffee and cake person. I make it my personal quest to look for places that fulfill this need. Bakery Lorraine has always been an easy stop, when I do not feel like searching for new hangouts. I remember Bakery Lorraine's beginnings, when they were located in a converted house, close to the Alamo Heights area. A friend took me there for the first time, and I loved the quaint look and the delicious breakfast. This was such a long time ago, I can't remember the meal I had, but I do remember being very impressed with their food. As now, they were known for their macaroons and made other cakes and pastries as well. Fast forward to 2022, the original location is long gone, but more Bakery Lorraine locations have been opened throughout SA. I stopped at their Medical area location for some tea and a muffin. To be truthful, my drink of choice is usually coffee, but I am not a big fan of Bakery Lorraine's coffee. I am not sure if it is the coffee itself or the way it is brewed, but it has a bitter too-much coffee taste. In fact, I find that a lot of places in this city tend to do this. The "hipper" the place, the more bitter the coffee. I can never seem to get past the first sip. Since I have had meals at Lorraine since its inception, I know this was not always the case, so I'm not sure what changed. The cakes at their Medical area were varied and the place was not crowded at all, which I loved. Their cakes are always pretty good, and this was the case of the muffin I purchased. It was worth the visit. For a beverage and cake stop, Bakery Lorraine certainly works. Maybe, at some point, their coffee will improve, but meanwhile, their other beverages, make it a good choice.
This place is always phenomenal. Simple coffees with big time pastries. Their almond croissants remind me of those I've had in Europe- so decadent. They have a large indoor area and a pretty big back patio with seating. I'd like to go back when I have more time to order food from the menu versus being on the run and grabbing a pastry.

Met up for lunch and had the chicken salad sandwich and a cheese sandwich with tomato soup. It was a great experience. Everything was so flavorful. This was the best grilled cheese I've ever had. I will definitely be back to get it again. love that they use different cheeses went perfectly with my tomato soup.
Look, I can tell you that the food was not fantastical, but that would make me a LIAR. The food here was SO good. I had the lunch special of 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 soup. . My friend said it looked so good that's what she's going to order next time. lol The sandwhich had multiple cheeses and it was one of those ones that you see in commercials. The cheese pulling apart and everything. Delicious. The soup was so creamy and luscious. And it's so cute and clean inside. It looks like a little boutique patisserie. The servers were awesome.
We absolutely love coming to Bakery Lorraine, and it remains one of our favorite spots in San Antonio for the good vibes and friendly service. On our recent visit, we ordered a cafe au lait, which was perfectly balanced for a slow morning, along with a delicious lemon blueberry scone that had bright flavors. For breakfast, we tried the sausage (ordered a side of it) and the yogurt parfait, which had great flavor overall, though the strawberries were slightly soggy (the granola balanced out the textures well). We also paired our meal with the brioche toast, and we enjoyed it, we really miss the old way they used to cut it because that thicker slice from a while back was definitely superior (iykyk). Of course, we couldn't leave without grabbing a pop pastry and a few of their signature macarons to go for later including the Earl Grey, Pistachio and Mangonada. We enjoy BL and the staff is always friendly and great. We will absolutely be back for our usual treats. read more

Recommend: Yes. I stopped by Bakery Lorraine on Medical Center Dr. after a doctor's appointment, and I'm so glad I did. I came in a bit hungry and left completely satisfied. First off, the space is beautiful. The entrance is spotless and very inviting, with a cute, cozy vibe that immediately makes you want to stay awhile. It's the kind of place where you can picture reading a book, catching up with friends, or enjoying a relaxed brunch. There's plenty of seating inside, plus outdoor seating in both the front and the back. I especially loved the back area--it's shaded with trees and has a peaceful, almost park-like feel. I ordered at the counter and got a number, and my food came out in about 15 minutes. The staff was incredibly friendly, answered all my questions, and even helped me choose a lemonade--great service all around. For food, I tried the quiche Lorraine (with bacon, caramelized onions, and Gruyère cheese) and a side of potatoes, along with a lemonade. Everything was delicious. The quiche was rich and savory, with a perfectly baked crust that balanced nicely with the soft, creamy egg filling. The portion might look small at first, but it's actually very filling. The potatoes were also a standout--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and well-seasoned. The lemonade tasted fresh and homemade, which made it even better. I didn't take photos inside since it was a bit busy, but the atmosphere is definitely worth experiencing in person. I don't know what's happened but Med Center took a nosedive. Don't get me totally wrong, the manager is a super nice guy, and the employees WILL do their best to make up for any inconveniences, but two visits in a row? C'mon, man. Today's visit started off normal. The manager rang me up, asked if I wanted my latte for here or to go, I said for here. Well they gave it to me in a to go cup. Honestly? Not a big deal. Just didn't want to take any home if I couldn't finish it. But then I saw folks who walked in after me getting their meals, one after the other. People in the back would look at me through the pickup window like I was just taking up room. The manager was taking a break sitting down doing work on a laptop so I didn't want to bug him, so I asked the girl at cashier about my baked oatmeal. She said it would be out shortly. My meal arrived about 5 minutes later but by then I'm pretty sure I waited about 30 minutes plus. The server said they refunded my order due to the wait. I mean, that's fine and all, but I'm still irked that this happened to me the last time I came here, too. Normally I don't like to call out folks and I'm content to let it go for one issue, maybe due to an off day. But it wasn't busy at all, so honestly, there was no excuse to let my order fall through the cracks. read more

I went to try the strawberry pop tart and coffee. I found the pop tart to dense and heavy for my taste. I then went back to try the croissant it was not flakey . I have tried croissants at many places . I was just expecting more buttery flakey pastry. The service was great and place was nice and clean and bright. I will come back to try other items to find my favorite baked breakfast treat. read more
Cute, clean cafe, with ample seating. The avo toast was huge and my favorite here. The scone and coffe cake and other baked goods were all decent. However, our americano was lukewarm and kinda meh. The kid portions are huge. We ordered the little soldiers (French toast sticks were huge), and grilled cheese off the kids menu. The French toast on the regular menu came with crème anglaise. The tuna on croissant sandwich was smoky tuna with vinegar base topped with a hard boiled egg. read more

I too, downloaded this app to review this bakery!! I never leave reviews but this place is amazing!! The avocado toast with smoked salmon was the best I ever had. always a treat to come to bakery lorraine! the food is a bit expensive but the taste is always great. i love to get a few sweets from the front to go before i head out - try the earl grey macarons, they're my favorite! it's always pleasantly quiet and laidback here, and seems like the perfect place to study or work. i don't come here often but i always have a good experience when i do. read more

I've been to the location at the Pearl so I was already familiar with the menu options. I figured that this was a solid choice for a quick lunch with my husband. Unfortunately, my husband and I felt that our visit fell short. The employee at the counter wasn't rude by any means but at the same time, they weren't very welcoming. Perhaps they were having a rough day or dealing with a personal issue. It wasn't really that big of a deal, just a little bit off setting. I ordered a ham and brie sandwich. I was a bit disappointed because the edges of the bread were burned.... not just a little either, they were black as can be! It completely ruined the taste of the sandwich. If I'm paying $12+ for a sandwich, it better taste good! I'm shocked that they would even attempt to serve anything that wasn't of good quality. My husband ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The croissant was absolutely delightful! The chicken salad fell short. It was lacking flavor and texture. Again, if I'm paying $12+ for a sandwich, the flavor should reflect the price point. We were both disappointed in the food quality. The value and quality didn't match the price. We had initially considered also ordering a pastry for dessert but changed our mind after receiving sub par food. Sadly, we don't have any intentions of returning. read more

Overhyped! This place is super eh, I mean you walk in and think it's a nice upscale place and then you look at their menu and are just in shock on how little options there are! Plus the prices are so high for what you get! I got a Turkey pesto and it tasted like every other Turkey pesto! The service was fast though I'll give them that. read more

They're famous for a reason in SA. Came here for a quick bite during our lunch break, and it was delicious. The cashier was great on suggestions for first-timers, and really knew the menu. We sat outside, and there was a server keeping all the times very clean! I ordered the BLT, but it was hands down the BEST BLT I've ever had. Some sort of sauce or cheese that just elevated this simple sandwich. Lunch deals are super worth it! Got a small slice of cheesecake to finish off, and it was just whipped perfectly. read more

Cappuccino was a 10 out of 10. Everything else was meh. Although beautiful, my croissant was underwhelming. It was cold, and the server didn't offer to warm it up. I also ordered the avocado, toast and smoked salmon. The bread was fluffy and airy with the right amount of crisp, but it was lacking flavor. The location and atmosphere itself to me is top-notch for a bakery/coffee shop. read more

Is there a trick to the wifi? I've been coming for three years and I can never log in to this locations wifi on any device. I have Apple.
Staff says the wifi/internet is always bad. No trick, the owners just need to invest in a decent network. I have a PC and Apple; neither connects after multiple visits.
