I can't have dairy so that limits what I can have. But Denise & Michele order whatever, except shellfish. So three different dishes we can't share. Service is always attentive and cheerful. Fantastic sushi restaurant and it's close to me. We ordered a few appetizers. The edamame, soup, yellowtail jalapeño, and the shrimp shumai. We ordered two sushi rolls and sake bombs. Well, even though the food was delicious, the service was not. The young man who served us forgot the sake bombs then came back to say that the beer they use, that they were out. We told him to forget it, we were fine with water. There was a period of time that we did not see him. We had to put our ordered with another server. The entire time he apologized. They just need better training. Or maybe he just had a bad day. Regardless, the food was great, and we will be back. The restaurant is very nice inside and clean. I went here for late evening bite. We waited for a few minutes for a table. We ordered gyozas, sushi, hibachi and udon noodles. Overall, the food was great and tasty. We started off with an order of steamed pork gyozas. The sushi felt fresh and the specialty roll (amazing tuna) I ordered was good. I also ordered the salmon avocado roll and I like it. The portions for the hibachi and udon noodles were big and my mom and dad like their dishes. I went tonight with a group of women from my neighborhood. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a casual atmosphere. I got a strawberry margarita to start. It was very sweet and very small. I would say about 3 maybe 4 sips total. It had a lot of ice and a small glass. The sushi is just okay. About the level of Publix sushi when they have just made it. It is very pricey though. My meal with one roll, salmon nigiri, and a very small drink cost $50. The server was nice but very slow. I don't think I will be heading back. The Wave is close by and cheaper with better drinks. read more

We eat at this restaurant every time we can! Sometimes I crave specific items like one of their special appetizers rolls. The name of it I can't fully remember, but it has Angel in it? Our server has always been Reagan. She is so helpful and a great server! The restaurant ambience is very comfortable. The sushi bar is out in the open and very inviting. I ordered from this restaurant through Grubhub. I ordered the red snapper teriyaki, spider tempura appetizer and Yankee Naruto sushi roll. The red snapper was a little over cooked but tasted really good over the teriyaki onions. The spider tempura appetizer was way over cooked along with the tempura vegetables that accompanied it. Couldn't be resuscitated by the air fryer. The Yankee Naruto sushi roll was good just too much cucumbers for my liking. Entrance to restaurant had a board with a lot of things posted to it. The floor Mat flipped (danger for tripping and unsightly). Not a great first impression. We waited for easily 5 minutes at the front desk. The gal was taking a phone order and didn't even acknowledge us. 3 employees were standing talking to each other over by the bar. Finally one of the young men came over and seated us. Front desk and bar area were cluttered. Terrible view for customers to look at. Lots of used glasses sitting there while the bartender wasn't busy the whole time we were there. Food came fast. Spent almost $70 on sushi. No drinks. Small sashimi pieces. Tried the garlic spicy Edamame. Wouldn't recommend it. It was greasy and needed salt. The music that was playing was clearly for the young staff and not for the patrons. Hip hop in a Sushi restaurant??? We've been patrons for years. We won't be back. This restaurant went downhill. Something changed. Management? Owners? We love this place!! The food is consistently delicious!! It NEVER disappoints! I highly recommend that you get the pork gyoza ($7.50) as an appetizer. The staff are awesome at getting your starters out super fast! We usually always order 2-3 appetizers! Then they bring you soup and salad if you ordered hibachi, it's included. The steak and scallops are always cooked perfectly! We always end with a tempura fried ice cream. I highly recommend the green tea. Even if you are not normally a green tea fan, you will not be disappointed with the flavors in the ice cream! Once again, this was an awesome dining experience! read more

Amazing sushi. Horrible service. We come here often bc it's close to our house, it's affordable & it's good. That said, we walked out this week after standing up front waiting to be seated for 10 minutes while 3 servers, 1 bus boy & a bartender walked past, acknowledged us, answered phone calls & took to-go orders & even told us we'd be seated once the hostess (who was completely MIA). Meanwhile, we were looking at no less than 6 empty tables and 1 servers leaning on the bar chatting w the bartender who had no one sitting at the bar. Like I said, GREAT sushi but, if you go, just know that you will be ignored, not checked on, & will have to flag down a passer-by if you need a refill on your drink, utensils, a plate cleared, or a bowl to put your soy sauce in. read more

The food is delicious, both the meals and the sushi. The servers are good for the most part. The restaurant is beautifully designed and always appears clean. Drinks are pricy BUT very good! My only problem, on more than one occasion, is that they start cleaning up, to close, pretty early (like an hour plus) and you will find your self eating with chairs and tables being moved while they clean the floor and "excuse me" comments as the staff sweeps around you. It kills the ambiance when you feel like they are waiting for you to get up so they can clear the restaurant out. We get around this by trying to go a few hours before closing. You would think much of it, but don't knock it 'till you try it! Located on the right side of the Publix parking lot beholds this hole in the wall. From the outside it looks small and simple, but the inside of the restaurant is modern and crazy busy. I was recommended by a family member to try this place for the longest time. Although the wait was long, the drinks and food were worth it. On our side of the table, we ordered their specialty weekly themed drinks: Unicorn's Blood and Half-Blood Orange Prince. Both drinks were delicate and kept us buzzing. For food, we shared the Ika (squid), and entrees of the Volcano Roll (imitation crab) and Chicken Yakisoba. All were fresh, made to order and had this special umami to them that's very hard to find in Japanese restaurants in Central Florida. Umami is what we look for in food, and Momiji put the memento in it. Brought me back to my childhood days when I would travel to Shinjuku with my family and eat everything we ordered inside a bullet train station late at night. You can't put a price on good eating that flashes back to your past you thought you've long forgotten. It was an awing experience and I can't wait for Round 2! read more

Let me start off by saying I'm pretty disappointed that I am writing this negative review because I love supporting small businesses and this place used to be awesome. A year ago I would have never imagined it would have been like this but here we are... The food here used to be the bomb. I would happily pay more and drive way out of the way to get food here. It's a little on the pricey side for some of their stuff but it used to be worth it for the quality. The last time I ordered food here, we ordered tons of stuff, sushi, apps, etc. - one of those things was the filet steak hibachi which turned out to be bad meat and made my whole family sick. It has been a few months since that incident and we were ready to give it another go tonight. I am soo disappointed. First off, they charged me an extra $1 for 2oz of eel sauce that used to be free with a sushi roll - when I questioned it because I never paid extra before they told me they wouldn't charge me if I dined in but to go had to pay. That's kind of a ridiculous thing to say... anyways, got home and pulled the food out and the hibachi portions are way smaller, the container that the side salad came in isn't even half full, the lettuce looks gross and I found a bug in it, and the crab Rangoon is not the their normal crab Rangoon, it's like wontons filled with queso? I get that things may cost more and I am always willing to pay for quality but this isn't even worth it. I'm throwing out half my food because it's no good. Sad to say, I need to find a new local spot that has sushi and Asian style food. read more

Wow. Who would've thought you could find Sushi in Sorrento- maybe a bait shop, but certainly not Sushi! Well, Momiji has fantastic Sushi as well as many other beautifully prepared Japanese dishes. My wife and I have been here many times and have not had a bad meal or even a bad piece of Sushi! Everything is prepared with care and is beautifully served. It is incredible how the Sushi chefs take fish and turn it into edible art! The fish is incredibly fresh and tasty, they list specials and any items they have that are rare, such as California Uni- tasty! Everything we have had that is cooked is fantastic as well- the Vegetable Gyozas will surprise you how good they are for being all vegetables! Edamame, Shumai, all hot and tasty! They have draft Japanese beers, a HUGE selection of Saké, and a full bar. The space is clean and modern, comfortable whether you sit at a table, booth or the Sushi Bar. But beyond the food and decor- the owners and staff- they are genuinely happy to see you come in; they are friendly and honestly care that you have a good meal and a good time. Ling will always stop by your table to make sure you are happy and satisfied. Sit at the Sushi Bar and you will be greeted with a smile and you can watch these artisans at work. I have been here a handful of times and it's always a little different experience but always fantastic. I have been with family and just stopped in for a Drink. Last night we swung by to grab a pre-hurricane drinks and have some sushi too at the bar. For starters we decided to split there specialty drink the Volcano. It came full of different types of rum and a flaming shot of 151 in the middle to add to the ambiance. Very good. We then tore through the tuna tartare app. It was fresh and can be. It was blended perfectly with some avocado. To eat we got the tricolor sushi. It hit the spot in the best of way as we got tuna, salmon and yellow tail all in the same order. In fact they throw in a dynamite roll to boot. To round out a 5 star review I must add that the service was great. Classy people that helped with anything and moved fast if we needed anything. I'm happy to say it's one of the best sushi spots in the Orlando area. You won't be disappointed. read more

Great service, nice atmosphere, tasty food. We got the special sushi roll which was fantastic if not excessively large, chicken hibachi had a great flavor, though it could have been more tender. But the portions were generous and the vegetables fresh. When you include rice and noodles and soup and salad it's a full meal. The fried rice was spectacular. The dining room offers a sophisticated air, and the service enhances that feel. Overall I'd recommend it to people looking for a nicer sit down restaurant with good food. read more

Pretty pricey but excellent service and delicious food. However, Momiji is not pretentious; it has three televisions on which to keep up with the game or the news. I think of it for date night or dinner with friends. However, a family with two elementary age children were enjoying sushi at the next table - with their fingers, of course. The restaurant offers plenty of sushi, sashimi, and other main course options. Main course, non-sushi options, include hibachi and bento boxes. The hibachi meat choices include shrimp, scallops, chicken, steak, and salmon, individually and in combination. The shrimp and scallops hibachi was a huge portion. It comes with noodles, mixed vegetables, fried rice, and the seafood. The shrimp and scallops were seasoned so well they needed no sauce. However, everything else lacked basic seasoning. I mixed wasabi with soy sauce and dumped that on the veggies, noodles, and rice, which added some flavor and heat. It was also delicious as left overs the next day. The hibachi comes with clear soup and ginger dressed salad. The clear soup appeared to be the broth from a won ton soup with a couple of mushroom slices for decoration. It was edible. The salad was similar; nothing outstanding or special. The rolls can be ordered individually or Momiji offers combos or certain roles at a discount. We had the shrimp tempura, salmon/cream cheese, and spicy salmon skin rolls. The shrimp tempura roll was huge. They used four shrimp. I am use to getting two if that at other places. We also ordered the mango shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were excellent. The shrimp were served with fresh sliced mango and a tiny drizzle of mango juice. It really needed more mango. The also served honey mustard dressing as a dipping sauce on the side, which just doesn't go with the mango shrimp. We also tried the uni. It was good but a little muddy. read more

I hate to be the one to break up the 5 star streak, but this place was sub par. The food is expensive and not great by any means. $4 for six tiny pieces of cucumber roll and I've never seen so little rice in sushi rolls, I didn't know it was possible. The manager was nice and attentive and accommodating (I should've gotten her name because she was the highlight of the experience), but we barely saw our server at all. They have a 25% tip suggestion at the bottom of the receipt. That's pretentious to say the least. Food didn't sit well in my stomach. Was served basically raw tofu. This review is strictly a carry out review. I did not dine in the restaurant. I ordered 4 sushi: 1 Rainbow Naruto roll (cucumber wrap, no rice) 1 Amazing Tuna Roll 1 Smoked Salmon Nigiri 1 Tuna Nigiri The online ordering process was very simple and straightforward. I will say, like most have said, initially the prices hit you as being a bit high. But the sushi quality is pretty good, especially since you'll notice most of their rolls have quite a bit of fresh fish, as opposed to being filled with lots of extra cucumber, celery, avocado, etc. My favorite roll was probably the Amazing Tuna Roll. The balance of flavors and sweet to spicy was perfect and it wasn't overly dressed with sauces. The flavor of the tuna was delicious. I would definitely order this again. I also really enjoyed the Naruto roll (cucumber wrap, no rice). I liked that the menu offered this, as I haven't noticed it at many other sushi bars. For those who can't eat rice or grains, this is a great option. The roll was LOADED with fresh fish which I loved. I definitely felt like I got my money's worth for it. However, I would've liked to see a sauce of some sort added to these rolls to spice them up a bit. The cucumber doesn't hold much flavor. The smoked salmon nigiri was delicious. Great flavor, very fresh. The Tuna however was probably my least favorite. I don't think there was really anything wrong with it, it was just very bland. No fishy smell or anything to indicate that it wasn't fresh. It just didn't wow me. I have had better tuna nigiri from other restaurants, so I probably wouldn't order this one again. From the very brief experience I had inside the restaurant, it seemed like a nice interior and atmosphere. You definitely don't expect such a nice sushi bar to be hiding right there in Sorrento next to a Publix. But it is great. The only thing I think wasn't perfect was, in the very brief moment I was inside, the hostess seemed rather aloof and unwelcoming. Like she was bored standing there. But like I said, I was only inside for a moment so it could've just been catching at a bad time. They had my order ready right there at the bar when I walked in, which was nice. I LOVE how fresh the food is! We got Chicken Yaki Soba noodles which had SOOOOOOOO much flavor. The steak fried rice is tooooo good, like dangerously good (could be they use MSG). But the steak is tender and the rice is cooked to perfection. By the way a BIG portion, which makes our foodie soul so happy haha The plates are around $15 but since the amount and flavor is there it is SO worth it. Now, the sushi is SO YUMMY BUT it's a hit or miss when it comes to value. You can either get a good portion roll or a skimpy portion roll. We got the Russian Revolution which was $16 and the size was such a let down ESPECIALLY for the price. It was mostly rice and hardly any flavor which made me sad lol The indoor is SOOO pretty! Beautiful indoor decor. We were the only ones in restaurant for lunch, so food came out ridiculously fast. $15 for Filet Mignon Hibachi Lunch Special and $14 for 3 rolls. Both come with soup or salad. The usual ginger dressing salad or miso soup. The Filet was perfectly cooked, although a pretty small portion as expected for lunch and it being filet. Veg and fried rice were acceptable. Sushi is also good for the area. Eel roll lacked a bit of eel. Two rolls had too much sweet eel sauce. First time having Salmon Tempura however, which I recommend. I easily recommend the gem that is Fancy Q in Apopka if you want to drive a bit south, though easily one of the best options in an area with little to nothing. read more
