I was in the area and Spriggs came up as as a local fave. I stopped by for take out. I loved the pleasant & laid back vibes as I entered. The place is beautiful, great styling and everyone looked so delighted to be there as they lunched on the terrace or they dined inside. I was greeted warmly by the hostess at the register. Other staffers smiled and held the door for me as I left after grabbing my food. The meal was great. We had fish tacos and the lasagna. Great portions, thoughtful packaging for take out orders, , nice price point. The portions were generous and the flavors were nice. Both of us who ordered wished the food had a bit more salt and flavor, but overall it was a great meal and the short experiences from ordering on the phone to enjoying their food- we're all pleasant and charming.

Amazing food, I ordered the lasagna and I was blown away by how great and filling it was. Outside seating was beautiful. Our server (Mason) was very nice and respectful. Only thing was there was a bee near me but that wasn't the restaurants fault.

This is my second time here and the first time for Jenni. The restaurant is nice and appears fancy but the food is moderately priced and includes simple fare like cheeseburgers and also more expensive items like crab cakes and steaks. I had crab cakes and Jenni had the Oak Barrel Sirloin. My cakes were great and Jenni loved her steak; she gave me a couple pieces and I loved her steak, too. We didn't think the salads were great because, although pretty, they were small and skimpy. I remembered this from my first visit. I would rate our experience as 3.5 stars because my crab cakes were good and our server, Breonna, was super friendly and checked on us at a good frequency. Jenni agrees about the excellent service but felt her steak earned 4.5 stars so I'm averaging the rating for 4.0 stars.

Local, casual cafe in Carlisle, PA. Momma Sprigs is open for lunch & dinner and serves basic American fare: Salads, burgers sandwiches, entrees (pasta, seafood, chicken. steak). Momma's is fairly large, with 160 seats including indoor and outdoor seating. It looked like there was a small private room for events. We all enjoyed our food. The chicken wings were tasty and crispy. I ordered the Parrot Head salad with grilled chicken. I love all the ingredients. It could have used more of the fruit toppings and the candied almonds were slivers and virtually undetectable. Service was friendly and efficient. If I return to Carlisle, this would definitely be a stop!

Not a good experience…read more My wife and I arrived to a very empty tavern. Only 2-3 other patrons there. Didn't appear to be any servers on shift yet so the bartender was our server. Service started well enough. The problem started after we ordered. Wife got wings which she said were OK. Nothing special. I ordered shrimp tacos and my wife ordered the Pittsburgh salad. While waiting for the food, it started to get a bit busier and I had to go to the bar to get drinks refilled. I get it. It was getting close to happy hour on a Friday. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. The steak on my wife's salad was so overdone it was hard as a rock. Inedible. The shrimp tacos were FRIED shrimp. The menu didn't say this. I was expecting steamed shrimp or any other preparation except fried. It's unfortunate because the rest of the taco toppings were good. Had the shrimp been anything other than fried, it likely would have been quite good. Menu should be updated to reflect the fact that the shrimp are fried. Didn't really taste like shrimp....just tasted like fried breading. Yuck. The fries were way too greasy. I only ate a few bites of the tacos and let the bartender know so she was kind enough to take them off of our bill. Don't know that we will be back.

More kind and accommodating on the phone than just about any restaurant I've ever called. We came in like a half hour early, over the course of 20 minutes, cause we were traveling in multiple vehicles from ways away... I called ahead, but they said it was no problem at all. They were super helpful, I got drinks started while the rest of the party arrived. Ordered a bunch of appetizers... Mozzarella, sweet potato, waffle, fries, calamari... With like three different dipping sauces. Each of those was fantastic. Folks ordered burgers, chicken, cheesesteaks, traditional fair, like cottage pie, etc. Quantities were massive. Food was tasty. Many to go boxes were provided. The desserts were a surprise... I got my bread pudding to go. And then a few people got the lava cake and shared it. Great beer selection. Great cocktail selection. Great music on the speakers... At least I thought so, the Young'ns weren't as impressed with the sing-along Classics. Our server was beyond helpful, responsive, kind, accommodating,; probably one of the best I've ever had... Is that possible? Big party, I didn't check the details on the check... and the large party tip was included already. So I gave her too much cash for the tip, she stopped me on the way out and wanted to make sure I didn't screw up... Which I did. So she returned a couple bucks. But she earned every every bit for a tip yesterday.

I've been there a few times over the years, and each visit has been about the same: decent food, good drinks, and service that's friendly but sometimes a little slow compared to the crowd size. It's not exceptional, but it's steady, and there's value in that kind of reliability. The atmosphere is distinctly classic, with dark wood paneling, dim lighting, and an overall feel that's equal parts pub and old-school cigar bar. It's a little dated, but in a way that feels intentional--authentic to the town's character. You get the sense that a lot of local business deals and long lunches happen here, and that's part of the charm. The location is just off the main drag where most of the Carlisle festivals and events happen, which can affect how busy it gets. During downtown festivals, expect crowds, but otherwise, it's a good place to relax and catch up over a meal or a pint. Overall, Market Cross Pub isn't trying to reinvent itself--it's simply a solid, familiar spot with dependable food, friendly service, and an atmosphere that fits Carlisle perfectly.

Son in Law - also very predictable - orders sirloin rare and always gets a very rare very thick steak . I order sirloin "very very rare, still mooing", and got a thinner cut, pinkish, darn it. Then my know-it -ll hubby says I should only order very rare at a steakhouse. yeah yeah but that doesn't always work either. My sadly discontinued faves were the chicken salad salad - a large green salad with a scoop of chicken salad and a hunk of blueberry muffin, and grilled (or was it broiled? haddock. I lie the grits at most CBs but they tend to be watery in Carlisle. The house salad, an up-graded side, is huge, crisp, and delicious, highly recommend. I also love love the broccoli cheese casserole, but at the CB in Mechanicsburg it was mostly cracker topping. We used o always sit family for Thanksgiving but that is no longer possible so we've bee can do without their stuffing and I need far far more grave and cranberry sauce. And please ditch the horrible overcooked green beans! Im sure they are popular, but I won't touch green beans unless they are obviously thin French beans, barely steamed so they are still bright green. How about offering your very good pumpkin pie with the option of a graham cracker crust please? I don't like pastry crust.
