I went here for an IPL treatment. I was very hesitant on going through with the appointment after reading the negative reviews (and even more so by the owners' defensive responses to those... that look like they were written by a child). I don't know what I was thinking, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt for some reason. The place was cluttered, but not dirty, and I was the only person there so did not have to wait, unlike some of the issues others mentioned they faced. Overall though things were a bit scattered/odd - the 'paperwork' she gave me, talking to someone on speaker phone while checking me out, etc. I could get past that though... For me, the main issue was that the treatment itself did nothing and was a waste of money. I've been doing IPL for years so I know the levels of treatment can vary in intensity and outcome, and work better with repeated treatments, but I always noticed some level of improvement - this time, nothing. (The treatment only took about a minute, so that itself was telling). She also singed some hair on my hairline, and said 'whoops, next time we'll put the headband on'. I freaked out about that for a few days but luckily it's not that noticeable:/ Lastly, all the mention of Groupon users on here and 'you get what you pay for'... When you get a Groupon, you're purchasing what you would expect the service to be, at a discounted price. Not some sup-par version that isn't 'VIP'. Anyways, I should have trusted my gut and the candid reviews before giving it a chance. I expect an unpleasant response to this, but I wanted to share my experience since I appreciated that others did as well. read more

Well I originally gave 5 star review on Groupon because the staff truly was as kind as they could be and I thought my fave would magically work it self out. I recognized i could be getting what I paid for with my cheap Groupon but had high hopes. The first time I went I was left pretty bruised, had a headache and just didn't enjoy the initial results like I usually do. If you're a groupon, beware!!My experience was - she is unprofessional and rude. I have no idea about her service, but I did buy a groupon and was scheduled for 5pm. At 4pm I was called to move the appt to 5:30. I showed up at 5:15 and waited with another customer for 45 minutes until nearly 6pm when she finally showed. It was rainy and freezing, so thankfully the neighboring business took pity on us and offered to let us wait inside. I was understandably unhappy since I rearranged by schedule to accommodate their change. I thought maybe she'd say, oh, I'm so sorry I was running late, or something along those lines...She said what do you want me to do? I said just an apology would be nice. Man, was she rude and unprofessional for a provider who just kept clients waiting. Ive never experienced someone like that. She said she was doing us a favor to open up after hours, which I did not need or request...it was what they offered. So, she said are you a groupon? And, then told me I could get a refund...so that's what I'm doing since I would've had to wait another 20-30. read more

Other places i have gotten 20-22 units in the past that would last 4 months. I received 24 or 26 units here and its gone in 6-8 weeks. Rude & unprofessional. I just moved to San Diego and wanted to try botox. I purchased the groupon for 40 units. When I went in for the appointment the vibe was off from the moment I walked in. The receptionist was nice but she was preoccupied with a couple of people in suits swarming her. Poor thing. She sat me down in a chair in the middle of the office (like a hair or nail salon). The botox injector ("Momma" I suppose her name was, came up to me (I got no introduction) & asked "what are we doing". I explained I've only had botox once before & they helped me decide so I wasn't sure where I need it. She rudely said "well u need to know" & walked away. I was so uncomfortable, I wanted to leave then but I sucked it up and figured out what I wanted without the professional's input. She came back & we proceeded. During the procedure she was scolding the receptionist about how she handled the people in suits. She was telling her not to let "those people" just come in here and snoop around next time. Maybe she was stressed and having a bad day with the suit people so I tried to understand (still not a reason to be rude and unprofessional to the client). A week later I text her my concerns of a crease above my eyebrow (see photo) that was not there before botox. I gave it a week just in case it was "normal" Text shows it was read but she still hasn't replied 2 months later. Not to mention she was telling me about some off label procedures she could perform and told me she had to know my personality before she "pushed things on me". IF YOU'RE GOING TO READ ANYONE'S REVIEW ABOUT THIS PLACE, PLEASE READ MINE. Never in my entire life have I ever been treated so poorly. If you clearly check my yelp reviews, I honestly try to avoid leaving a negative yelp review. But this one I just cannot ignore. So I originally saw their Groupon for lip injections for $375. I ended up calling them just to see if I can get an appointment quickly because I was going on vacation and just wanted to touch up on my lips. She ended up telling me to just not buy the Groupon and pay her directly, instead. I agreed and paid a deposit of $150 before my appointment which was totally fair in my opinion. So I show up mid-April. I got there a little early and she ended up asking me to pay upfront which I really didn't want to do but I felt like I was kind of pressured and had to. I was going to pay them anyways so it wasn't that big of a deal so I gave her the full amount upfront. Then she told me that she forgot that if I wrote a positive yelp review that she would give me five dollars off. I don't like leaving false reviews so I just ignored her comment and never left a review. Apparently she's asking everyone to leave her positive yelp reviews in order to save them a couple bucks. I would not trust most of their reviews. *** THIS IS KEY *** So she told me that the nurse would be with me shortly and I agreed and she put me in the back room. NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I HAD TO WAIT MORE THAN 20 MINUTES FOR THE PROCESS TO START!!! She made me wait in the waiting room for the nurse for an HOUR AND A HALF!!!! She took so long in fact that I had to ask them to re-put numbing cream on me because it was already wearing off. So the nurse finally comes in and she tells me to lay down and she put a towel over my face which is very abnormal. I did not get to see the needle before hand. Honestly I was a bit nervous because she plumped up my lips a little bit but it did not feel like it was one full syringe worth. I think it's very strange that she covered half my face and it might be because she only had half a syringe. (But this is just my speculation) So anyways I end up leaving almost 2 hours after arriving there and my parking validation that I got from them was almost expired. So the next couple of days I had very bad bruising all over my face which did suck because I was going to Jamaica for a fun vacation but I just use cover up and lipstick and it wasn't that big of a deal. I did ,however, notice that I had these weird lines showing up on my upper lip now that wasn't there before. I do modeling for fun and I did a photo shoot a little after I came back from Jamaica and I had to end up editing every single photo because you could see those weird creases in my upper lip. *I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO SHOWING WHAT SHE DID* So I ended up calling them because I did not want to leave a bad review but I said that I wanted to see if they could fix my lips because I was not happy with them. She ends up scheduling me for an appointment to weeks later. That appointment was actually this past Wednesday. So I ended up showing up 10 minutes early and I ended up waiting another HOUR AND A HALF to be seen by the nurse!!!! I ended up telling her why I did not feel satisfied with my lips and she ended up BLAMING ME that I got my lips too big. I then proceeded to ask her why she would continue making them big if she didn't think they were looking aesthetically pleasing. She gave me a blank stare and said she didn't know. I then asked her if she could just put filler in the upper lip area so it could look even. She ends up telling me that that's just going to cost me more money. I told her I was under the impression that this was going to be corrected on their account, not mine. She gave me attitude and I left and paid $4 for parking for the 2 FUCKING HOURS I WAS THERE WASTING MY TIME!!! Overall I have never felt such low quality care and I was definitely treated with disrespect. I am absolutely grossed out by the way I was treated at this establishment. The Botox did not last at all. This was the most units I had ever done and it lasted about 30 days. The results were not even that great. I guess u get what you pay for. I was told I couldn't use my brilliant distinction points for the promo I purchased. She asked for my password to "give me points" Later I found out that they never gave me points but instead redeemed $100 worth of my points. This meant I Sd to go back to them or lose those $100... I've never been so excited about a treatment I've had in my adult life. Believe me I've done plenty. I was told that BJ at Mommas was a magician with threads. Not threading for eyebrows. I mean threading areas of your face and body that lift and pull as if you are going under the knife. But you don't and it's fast. She numbs you first, before you know it it's over. I've seen such noticeable amazing results. She knows her stuff, not everyone can do it and do it as well. It lasts for a long time and The actual threads have collagen in them and they desolve in a few months giving you even more tightness. I had been thinking about doing something to my skin for quite a while! I had quite a bit of damage around my eye area from sun damage and overusing Cortizone on my face. I met BJ accidentally, she started telling me what she does, she took some time and looked at my face and said she could easily take 15 years off of it. Well that's exactly what she's done. I can't even believe it! She did a procedure called fibroblast which regrows the collagen in your skin. And has followed that up with some other skin tightening treatments. I couldn't be more happy! The worse experience I have ever had in my life. When I saw the Groupon I called Momma Spa several times to book an appointment and they never answered the phone calls. One day later I got a text message from B.J Brockington ( nurse and owner ) and after we exchanged a few messages and pics we set up the appointment. My appointment was supposed to start at 10:15 am and I got there right on time. After I filled all my paper work I was told that I had to wait on another 4 people to show up so we could " watch a workshop together " before they start the treatments !!!! I had to pick up my son from preschool at 11:15 and I had no time allocated to watch a workshop that I didn't sign up for. when I asked them why I wasn't told about the "group workshop, the very unpleasant owner B.J Brockington told me that I should leave and go get my son cause looking at me I wasn't a good fit for her spa. I was petrified about her comment and all the other new clients in the same room just dropped their jaw by B.J's rude attitude. I am a newbie to fillers, and was super nervous about the entire process but knew I wanted some plump new lips! First of all, I was scared out of my mind that it was going to be the most painful thing... let me tell you, it hurts more to get a cavity filled than this. She used great numbing cream that completely took away any feeling in my lips quite honestly. Overall, a 4/10 on the pain scale, she is a magician, and made sure to walk me through everything before hand. We discussed how I wanted them to look and she delivered to the point where I cannot believe how perfect they look. She also massaged my lips after the filler to make sure there would not be any lumps. Amazing experience from BJ and ALL of her staff. This is the absolute worst customer service experience and experience altogether I have ever had in the beauty industry . The owner is rude, abrasive angry , all ego and definitely in the wrong line of work. She doesn't listen or like people, and this is the service industry. I had a laser for skin tightening ($450.00) and asked them specifically to avoid certain areas of my face as I recently had fillers. I didn't want them to dissolve. Well they didn't avoid these areas and at least $2500 of fillers dissolved. I showed them before and after pictures . My face completely flattened . After a few back and forth texts with the owner BJ I requested a refund as I was going to have to spend a whole lot of money to fix this mess not to mention looking terrible for days at a very busy time in my life. I felt beautiful the morning of treatment.I just wanted a little firming .The owner BJ sent me texts saying I was threatening them and lying and making up stories just too get a refund ..huh? By telling the truth and being kind? ( believe me I would much rather not have to spend more money and fix this mess than deal with these people . What happened to customer service?) She then wrote me and said said if I come to her place of business and threaten her staff she'll have me arrested .lol. Who says that ?? Has she been watching too much of "Orange is the new black " ;) ? I never even spoke with her staff . Great customer service . Not ! Truth hurts, I guess. I tried to redeem my Groupon yesterday and was met with the most unprofessional callback and ultimately told, "You're not a good fit." I got this response after leaving a message asking for callback to make an appointment. When you call the business, you will be forwarded to a generic automated voicemail that doesn't identify as part of the business. I made the error of saying that I wasn't sure if I had actually reached the business. I tried, more than once, to explain to the very rude, demeaning gal who called me back but she couldn't get past her hypersensitivity and superiority.
